The continuation of International bestselling author Maggie Cole's highly-received secret society, drenched in dark undertones, next-generation Mafia series about two enemy lovers never meant to be together until one action catapulted their arranged marriage. Now, Fiona O'Malley and Kirill Petrov will have to let go of their preconceived notions, emotional scars, and everything they knew to be true about themselves.
My brother arranged for me to marry a stranger, one marked with a diagonal scar across his face and a tattoo necklace on his hand.
Neither disgusts me. They also aren't what scares me.
Kirill Petrov's a sworn enemy of our family and King of the Underworld. A towering man with darkness in his gaze, an unspoken promise of what he'll do to me, and something so deep in his expression it hurts my heart.
Yet the blaze of his allure only grows hotter, singing, until I can't resist him any longer… until I'm his Queen wearing his necklace night after night, staring at the beast inside his soul.
If I could, I'd kill that beast until the world saw my husband as the man I see—the man I love.
Except I give him my heart before I learn the full truth. And once you see the unforgettable, how can you go back? How can you forgive your husband for sins that aren't his, yet he's tied to? Especially when the people you love got hurt in the most vile of ways?

I've been excited to dive into Fiona and Kirill's book ever since I finished the first one, and I knew it would be a good read! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! From the very first page, I was completely drawn to the incredible world the author created. Just like in the first book, there are plenty of twists, secrets, and action. Fiona meets Kirill in the first book, and there’s this instant connection between them. Kirill feels the same way about Fiona, but nothing happens for over a year. Then, out of the blue, he's ordered by The Underworld to marry her! The twist? Fiona has no clue about the secret society and doesn't even realize that the man she’s supposed to marry is Kirill.
Fiona is a talented fashion designer! I loved her fierce spirit and how she stood up for herself – she didn’t let anyone push her around. But what I loved most was her compassion. She has so much love for her friends and family, and later, for Kirill just as he is. Now, Kirill may be the king of The Underworld, but he's got his struggles. He can be ruthless and closed off, but deep down, he is lonely and hurting. His scars make people fear him and he thinks that he doesn't deserve Fiona. Not only because of his scars but also because of the secret that he keeps from her.
What stood out to me was their honesty with each other. Fiona is always there to remind Kirill that his scars don’t define him. I loved how she stood up to him in front of her family, too! Kirill’s protective nature is such a sweet quality; he always prioritizes Fiona’s safety and constantly encourages her. I loved how he trusted in her ability and supported her to achieve her dreams.
Overall, this book was another fantastic installment in the series! While the action and suspense might not have been as intense as the first book, it was still an entertaining read that kept me turning the pages. I’m looking forward to the next book—the couple in it took me by surprise, and I honestly didn’t see that coming!
This book was incredible! Possibly even better than the first and that’s hard to beat.
While the first book was more intense and dark, Kirill and Fiona’s was so romantic. It definitely still held the suspense and some dark aspects related to the Underworld, but oh my heart was Kirill the most adorable bad boy MMC!
This man had a tatted hand necklace, was tall and broody, and the legit KING of the Underworld but he went above and beyond to make Fiona feel like the most special human. We got to see his whole heart and soul in the book and I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to not fall in love with this man! I mean he wrote hand written notes and thought of the most sentimental gifts!
I loved the inner dialogue that happened throughout probably because it’s thoughts that I myself have on the regular so it hit close to home. Their connection to one another was divine and the will power to go through all they did while having to watch everything they did and said was wild.
This whole concept for a mafia/ secret society book is completely unique by design and I’m beyond ready for our next couple. While Kirill and Fiona were sweet, Sean and Zara were feisty, our next couple is going to just be plain hilarious!
Maggie is the whole package from the plot to the stunning cover design and packaging!
Maggie Cole…MAGGIE COLE!!! 😩😩 what have you done to me?!? This book was PERFECTION!!! The second book in the Underworld Series…you don’t HAVE to read the first book to dive into this one, BUT…you get to see how the MC’s meet and it gives you a lot of really good background information heading in and helps you understand what’s happening better…because there is a lot. This book was over 500 pages and I devoured it…DEVOURED in less than 24 hours. It grabbed me by the throat and kept me sat and focused and I wish I could read it for the first time again.
This book is the story of Kirill and Fionna. They meet at the end of book one and from the moment they set eyes on each other, it’s explosive.
Kirill is tall, dark, handsome…a broody and broken man. Russian mafia and the king of the secret society known as the underworld. A society set up to help keep the peace among the rival mafia families. Fiona is the daughter of Kirills protege and her family is part of the Irish mob…essentially making them enemies.
After their first meeting, they don’t see each other again for over a year. But a deal is made by Fiona’s brother and sister in law, Fiona just marry the King of the Underworld in order to keep her family safe…family is everything to Fiona and she will never allow anything to harm them…especially her niece and nephew…so while she isn’t happy about the arrangement, she is going forward with it. The twist? She isn’t allowed to know who the man she’s marrying is…she has no idea that Kirill is the king of the underworld…but Kirill knows that he’s marrying her….and as much as he wants her, he’s filled with dread.
Kirill has avoided marriage…not feeling worthy of anyone or love in general because of his traumatic past and feeling like he’s a monster due to the scars that cover his body. A deep rooted insecurity that keeps him from connecting. He doesn’t want to pull Fiona into his darkness…he’s afraid that she will be disappointed and disgusted with him because of his appearance…but he also can’t help the possessiveness he feels over being able to make her his once and for all.
The day the wedding arrives…Fiona is ready to submit to her life with a stranger as her husband. But when she realises it’s Kirill everything changes. Fiona sees the beauty in Kirill. His scars don’t scare her or deter her feelings for him. She realises that even though this is an arranged marriage , it’s something she deeply wants…she wants him…all of him. Kirill wants her too…and is ready to begin his life with his Queen by his side.
The way this man loves her is epic. He hand writes her love letters and picks out gifts with thought and meaning…he worships her…lives and breathes for her. He is the definition of touch her and 💀…and honestly…she is the same for him. The love they have for each other is intense…you can feel the need and yearning for each other with every word that Maggie writes.
This book has a lot less suspense than the first book, but it’s jam packed with all the emotion and heat you can stand. It never lets up. It’s scorching hot and the stuff you dream about. Finding love in a world shrouded in darkness…not just love but true companionship and friendship. These are two souls who have been wounded in life and yet still have so much love to give each other. They heal each other…showing the other that love is something they deserve. The way Fiona loved Kirill and looked at him like he was the most beautiful thing in the world had me tearing up.
It’s a story about finding beauty in the darkness. How even broken things can be beautiful…are worthy of love. Finding the right person…YOUR PERSON, changes everything and makes you stronger. These two become stronger together than they ever were apart.
I can’t wait until the next book. I don’t know if anything or anyone can top Kirill and Fiona’s story but I’m looking forward to what the Underworld has in store for us.💛
Thank you SO SO MUCH to Maggie Cole for the incredible opportunity to ARC read this beautiful story.💛

This is book 2 of The Underworld Series. Fiona (Sean’s sister from Bride of Initiation) is informed she has to marry a stranger to keep her niece and nephew from being orphans.
But she can’t get the stranger she met a year ago out of her mind. How is she supposed to marry a stranger and why is everyone keeping secrets from her.
Kirill is devastated that Fiona has to marry him. He doesn’t want to see her disappointed, or worse, look at him with disgust like every other woman does because of the scars that cover his body.
I had been waiting for this one! What I didn’t expect was the heartache I’d feel for Kirill. He deserves everything and can’t believe how Fiona treats him. The way he cares for her. The way she can’t understand how he’s been treated. They are perfect for each other and I loved every minute.
I may have finished this in one day. I couldn’t put it down. It was just an amazing story.
I absolutely LOVED this one! Kirill intrigued me and I have to say my expectations were met. I think I loved this one more than book 1.
Kirill-MY MAN!! Tall, broody and did I mention hand necklace. I love his back story. But this man will do ANYTHING for his woman and wanting to get everything perfect for her. His inner dialogue moments and slight insecurity were perfect.
Fiona and Kirill’s connection and chemistry was probably what I loved the most.
I am absolutely obsessed with Maggie’s writing and this series.
DNF at 10% because I couldn't proceed from how Bratty and whiney FMC is. It's extremely cringe. The MMC is also very cringe, constantly calling himself king and telling FMC to obey him. Yall just met, ew.
This book was incredible, and it broke me then pieced me back together in the best ways. This plot was amazing, I love the mafia arranged marriage trope and I’ve read a lot of that trope but this one is definitely something special. So first she’s not allowed to know who she will marry until she’s at the altar, because of some weird “Underworld” thing. It’s basically a cult for mafia people and I didn’t get some stuff about the Round table and their weird rituals because I think there’s a whole universe with this book, but it did make sense later. This doesn’t follow your typical mafia arranged romance format, usually they both hate each other. But he actually writes the sweetest letters to her beforehand, apologising and asking about her dress and gift preferences. I’m a sucker for love notes, sad or sweet and this book does both perfectly. Warning: the sad one is a real tear jerker. Usually the Mmc in mafia arranged marriages are complete a-holes at first which makes the fmc either pissed or insecure or both. However this time, Kirill is the insecure one because of the scars all over him that he tattooed snakes over (which I find incredibly hot btw). I cried when his first thought after she smiled at him was that he was being delusional and she would never not be disgusted by him. This plot was great, and these characters are complex and interesting. Kirill is the best but Fiona was such a great character too! I could not put this down and read it all in one sitting. Amazing, it’s a 5/5

Main Characters: Fiona & Kirill
Stand out lines/quotes: It took me a long time to believe your attraction for me, and now that it's gone, I'm an addict, jonesing to see it one more time.
My Thoughts: Ok, so when I first started reading this I was a little iffy, but then it got to the letters and the gifts and I quickly started falling for Kirill. I really enjoyed this book and all the twisted secrecy that it contained. I can’t wait to see where Maggie goes with the rest of the books in the series.
Bride by Coronation is an arranged marriage with a side of mafia underworld. This is Fiona and Kirill’s story that will have you in an emotional roller coaster. Their story is heartbreaking and tragic with understanding and compassion. They both been the a lot and with secret societies, family conflicts and threats, but they pulled though and got rid of their enemies. I loved their story and how they protected each other. I can’t wait to read the 3rd book.
I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advance readers copy.
wayyyy better than book 1! still pretty steeped in the secrets and deception of the Underworld, but this time it wasn’t anywhere near as frustrating to not have all the answers right away.
i also thought the main couple had loads more natural chemistry than Sean & Zara. what this book lacked in action (compared to the first book), it made up for with emotional connection. Fiona and Kirill communicated very well and were pretty honest and upfront about their feelings and intentions. i just really believed in them as a couple from the get-go.
really excited for the final installment of this trilogy, and ready to see all the cards finally laid out on the table!
this book was ALMOST really good. like it had everything in the making to be 5 stars. but just lacked some detail and character and plot development. like it was so close… and then things would just happen but like i need the details! idk. love the MMC, but also like get over yourself and let the FMC love you. the self loathing was cute and first but got old real fast. idk
Dark, dangerous, and completely addictive. Maggie Cole’s "Bride by Coronation" is the kind of mafia romance that doesn’t just flirt with danger, it invites it in for dinner. I didn’t read book one, and guess what? I still inhaled this like it was my last meal. The emotional tension is real, the chemistry is nuclear, and the plot is utterly addictive.
The MMC is possessive in the best way (like hello, sir, ruin my life?), and the FMC isn’t here to be anyone’s victim, she’s fierce, vulnerable, and all heart. This book had the kind of tension that coils in your gut and doesn’t let go until the final chapter.
Expect high stakes, strong family dynamics, secrets that unravel deliciously, and a relationship you feel in your bones. I’ll be bingeing the rest of the series immediately.

I was OBSESSED with this book cover to cover…literally the front cover is STUNNING!!! I love that this is the next generation to the original Mafia Wars series and which I loved! The book starts off with Kirill (King of The Underground) and Fiona literally bumping into each other. The sexual tension from the start explodes off the page like a 💣 There are secrets and laws of The Underworld unknown to Fiona, but she soon finds out she’ll be forced to marry a mystery man. What happens next I was not expecting! I am an absolute sucker for letter and I loved reading them 🥹 I also loved the secret society aspect and the rituals. The story had my heart pounding in more ways than one! The story sucked me in like all of Maggie Cole’s books! The spice WHEW!! The intensity of some of those scenes was through the roof!

I received an eARC for this book and I am so happy about that!
I did not read book 1 in this series and it wasn't completely necessary in order to enjoy book 2. Do I want to go back and read book 1? Yes!
This book was insanely good. I read it within the same day... I couldn't put it down. The tension since the first page makes you want to turn the page and not stop until the epilogue... which still makes you want to continue.
The FMC is relatable and I really enjoyed her attitude. Finally an FMC that does NOT mind the rich MMC from spoiling her. The MMC is tortured and broken in many ways but he falls HARD for the FMC and it's glorious to see unfold.
Their relationship was one that I enjoyed. Yes, there was instant attraction but they developed it throughout everything they went through. It kind of gave me Beauty and The Beast vibes and I was here for it.
This book is for you if you like: dark secret societies broken MMC fiery FMC secrets and lies rituals and betrayal age gap romance
There are aspects that I did enjoy about this book. The notes leading up to the wedding, exploring a little of his insecurities (the scar),the masks, etc.
This book had a lot of repetition, same phrases over and over again. Deja vu much?
Fiona’s tantrums weren’t it for me. She sounded like a teenager.
OMG, this book is FIRE. I absolutely adore Kirill. He's King of the underworld, but has always avoided taking a queen because he's convinced no one will want him because of his scars. That's until he helps Sean and Zara (book one) and is forced to marry Sean's sister Fiona. I loved her too. She actually sees the beauty in imperfection and truly does not see Kirill's scars as flaws. These two dance around each other and I love how the author makes Fiona start to fall in love with him even before she knows who it is. The deception in the Underworld really bugs me considering the reason it was incepted was to cut out all the mafia wars. Nevertheless, after a lot of back and forth, we get our HEA and set up for the next book.
Full disclosure; I only read chapter one. However, the FMC was such an immature brat that I just couldn't proceed. She wants answers about a secret tattoo and throws a temper tantrum inside a packed coffee shop towards a stranger because he has the same mark her family has, but tells her it's not time for her to know. He leaves, she runs after him, yelling at this clearly dangerous man on a busy street to tell her, but he refuses. Then she goes to her brother's to demand the truth from him again. His brother's wife goes to put their small twins down for a nap so they can talk, and she is told that again, it wasn't time or safe for her to know. She throws another tantrum and yells, he tells her to keep her voice down because of the babies, so what does she do? She yells at both of them, then storms out and slams the door behind her, not giving a crap about anyone but herself and her pity party.
She clearly thinks showing her immense level of maturity will convince everyone she's ready for this bit of information...
Maggie Cole delivers yet another masterpiece in Bride by Coronation, weaving an intricate tale with secrets, danger, and undeniable chemistry. This isn’t just a mafia romance—it’s an immersive journey into a clandestine world, full of suspense, plot twists, and a love that defies the odds.
At the heart of this intoxicating story is Kirill Petrov, a formidable yet deeply wounded man who has convinced himself he's unworthy of happiness. Scarred both physically and emotionally, he remains a fearsome presence to the outside world. But behind closed doors, he’s thoughtful, protective, and fiercely devoted to his new wife. Fiona, who is thrust into the Underworld without warning, forced into a marriage with Kirill—only to discover that she has no desire to resist him. Instead, she sees beyond his hardened exterior, recognizing the man beneath the scars, the one whose quiet consideration and unwavering devotion leave her utterly captivated.
What makes their love truly exceptional is the way they heal each other. Fiona shows Kirill he is worthy of love and happiness, breaking down his walls and proving that scars—both seen and unseen—don’t define one’s worth. And Kirill? He makes Fiona feel safe, shielding her from the dangers of his world while cherishing her in a way that is utterly consuming. Their chemistry? Explosive. Every interaction crackles with tension and heat, every moment between them laced with passion and depth.
Beyond the romance, Bride by Coronation is packed with high-stakes action, gripping twists, and a secret society that adds layers to the suspense. It’s a book that keeps you flipping pages long into the night, eager to unravel every revelation.
Maggie Cole masterfully blends emotion and intrigue, creating a story that isn’t just about love—it’s about resilience, trust, and finding light in the darkest of places. If you're a fan of mafia romances with obsessive devotion, intense attraction, and thrilling suspense, Bride by Coronation is an absolute must-read.
A huge thank you to Maggie Cole and the Author Agency for the early copy! It’s a mafia, age gap lovers delight!
I loved this story! It’s dark and brutal and oh so delicious - I could not put it down!! There is betrayal and secrets revealed as we follow Fiona and Kirill (he’s the king of The Underworld) as they end up in an arranged marriage.
I loved Fiona. She is strong and feisty and will fight for what’s important to her. I loved how she looks beneath the surface when it comes to Kirill (and I don’t just mean his physical scars.) She has always been able to see who he is underneath the facade…
No spoilers here but Kirill is the MMC I never saw coming!! Yes this man is dangerous and brooding and also a little broken…but underneath is….well I can’t tell you but I promise you will LOVE him! He will do anything for Fiona 🔥🔥
THERE ARE FREAKING LOVE LETTERS
The spicy scenes are so good and their chemistry is off the charts!!! I straight up devoured this book and am so excited for the next one. I am completely obsessed with this series!

This was book was 530 pages and I read it in 7 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever been so engrossed in a book and could not put it down. I love Maggie’s writing and stories. Every word is intentional, I’m never bored reading her books and everything flows perfectly.
This is the second book in this series and everything will make so much more sense if you read book one first. Kirill and Fiona meet in book one. They were both attracted to one another but don’t see each other again until a year later. They never stopped thinking about the other. He doesn’t believe she could ever want someone like him and has serious insecurities. She only sees him as beautiful because of his flaws. This was much different than Sean & Zara’s book because it’s less dark and more romantic. We know about the Underworld and although this is an arranged marriage, it’s something they both want. Their story was just so beautiful and romantic and although they had trials and tribulations, their connection supersedes. I felt so much for Kirill and what he went through and I loved that Fiona was the one to show him compassion and love. Loved this so much!!!!
I’m excited for the next book because it feels like it will be enemies to lovers with banter and humor based on these two’s interactions throughout this book and I am here for it lol.
This is the second installment to the Underworld universe and it does not disappoint. Fiona and Kirill have steamy chemistry. The story just gets more and more intriguing. So many questions. This book had me on the edge of my seat. And the steam, so hot!!!! What a perfect couple.
A sequel better than the original in this series. I was more emotionally invested in these characters. Looking forward to the next book, which I feel may be more of a comedy than dramatic, just based on the characters it will be following.
Fiona and Kirill are on fire and definitely the POWER couple! Separately...they are strong; but TOGETHER they are UNDENIABLE! I love the support they both show for each throughout. The growth they both go through and through it all, they still want each other.
Quite honestly, I could have been satisfied with Fiona and Kirill having the final story in the Underworld because I find it very fulfilling and full circle. But I'm eagerly awaiting the third couple!
I have been dying for Kirill’s story since the moment he steeped into the pages of book one in this series. His was such an intriguing character, and I just knew hos scars represented a past that would be painful, yet lend him the strength he needed to rule the Omni.
I very much enjoyed his relationship with Fiona, and the fast paced nature of their story. They have great chemistry and I love their companionship and shared interests and values. Beauty is more than skin deep, and this book reiterates exactly that.
I also loved the banter and playful jabs between Brad and Valentina, so going out their book is the next in the series thrilled me!!
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of all these great characters!
Absolutely another huge hit for Maggie Cole! I was so excited for Fiona and Kirill’s story and it absolutely did not disappoint. There was the perfect amount of spice and their chemistry and love is just off the charts. The perfect dark mafia romance we’ve come to know from Maggie and just another piece to this insane universe she’s created. You absolutely do not want to miss out on the next story from The Underworld.
