The Fallen - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Dan Padavona's The Fallen, is a twisty psychological, action-packed thriller, which could mean big changes for P.I Nia Carter and her partner on their latest case, Detective Eli Mitchell.

A killer's long-buried family secrets are revealed and death follows swiftly in their wake. Are Nia, Eli, her daughter Maya and close friend Janet in danger too?

Hm

For some reason, this book didn’t engage me as well as others Padavona works. Might just be my current curmudgeonly state of mind.

An officer’s body is found in the nearly frozen lake - how did he die? Undeniably, murder.

The investigation wends its way backwards and forwards as a potential witness is also slain and the slain officer’s sister is abducted.

Past scandal and small town gossip are critical to solving this crime spree.

I love reading the Nia Carter series. I did not give this 5 stars, even though the story was great from beginning to end, because it was mentioned one of the characters returned to her home town because her father was ill and take care of him. A couple pages and chapters later, it mentioned the woman moved back to care for her mother. But the book is still a good one and I’m ready for the next in the series.

I always know I can expect a good story out of Dan Pandora. This story has believable characters in realistic situations. Its interesting from the first to the last page. Hoping there is a book 5.

Once again Dan does it, makes you want to think twice about checking your genealogy family tree. About time Eli was taken seriously and the promotion was well deserved. Finally the Chief accepted Nia and how valuable she is, like the way Chief put the FBI in it's place. So glad that Janet was ok, Maya is going be so happy that Eli is getting closer as part of the family.

There's a lot of twist and turns in The Fallen. Sometimes I found it hard to follow. In my opinion there was suspense, mystery and action. I figured some of the things out and others not so much. I loved that Nia finally stood up to the officers of Duskwood. I appreciate Eli's protective side but sometimes he needs to let Nia do her thing. I like that Nia and Eli's relationship is growing and they are learning to accept things. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.
