Naturalistic novels of American writer and editor Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser portray life as a struggle against ungovernable forces. Value of his portrayed characters lies in their persistence against all obstacles, not their moral code, and literary situations more closely resemble studies of nature than tales of choice and agency; this American novelist and journalist so pioneered the naturalist school.
i love works of Dreiser. he is my favourite. all his stories,, novels and essays are full of energy, emotions and often oppressive thoughts. this story is a wonderful example of self tortures of a man in love. unfortunately, ut is too true to life. it even makes you feel sad as sometimes un life you cannot close your eyes and erase feelings from your heart ant it makes you weak, pathetic and miserable. chains of love or obsession never do good
