I was a diagnosed psychopath with an unrelenting hunger for violence. And my outlet for that darkness was taking lives.

April 10, 2025Well, this is dark, and both MCs have a propensity for unaliving. It was like reading Joe and Love from the You TV series. So, please check the trigger/content warnings. 🫣

This was so good. I had been craving a quick read with lots of smut and no push away, and this delivered exactly what I needed.😌
I especially love when the h is unhinged too, and it completely throws the H off guard.🤭 That dynamic made this even more enjoyable and honestly hilarious. They basically kidnapped each other and perfectly matched each other’s freak.😼
Safety info:
- No OWD or OMD.
- No detailed info about their pasts, only that it’s been a very long time for the H.
- No scenes with others after they meet.
- No cheating.
- Ends on an HFN, but I wished we had gotten a longer epilogue showing them in the future.

4 smut-scale stars!

The premise for this was so good but it kinda fell flat.
I can absolutely see why others have rated so high if they only like the insta love and smut aspect of the novella but for me it wasn’t worth the read.
The story starts with Kane. A diagnosed psychopath and prison escapee who gets off on killing and chasing others. The first few chapters go on from his pov and reiterate how he is unfeeling and how humans were just ‘play things’ for him. But all that seems to be ignored when he meets Evelina.
Her house is closest to his prison escape so he breaks in… but he doesn’t hurt her, doesn’t scare or intimidate or threaten her other than the premise of ‘do what I say and I’ll let you live’. And in less than a day he’s obsessed with her. He doesn’t want to hurt or kill her - extremely unlikely from his early chapters.
And then there’s evelina. Honestly I like her character, though it’s a bit wobbly. She does start a little timid and shaken and then is suddenly dark and evil? Honestly I’m not sure.
I was super excited for this one as I loved Unhinged but this was a bit of a let down.

I was completely hooked as soon as I started this, I loved the story line and the smut was so good! It wasn’t overbearing and was just the right amount.
The idea of Kane being a fugitive and taking over Evelina’s house and holding her hostage in her own home was such an interesting story. And the fact she lowkey liked it. She’s just as fucked up as he is and they’re perfect for each other.
They both love a bit of blood play, and the things that they have to do to get the blood 👀 it’s dirty and descriptive and I loved it!! Kane is cocky and confident, knows what he wants and takes it. Evelina is also confident and very smart, she knows how to act innocent and she manipulates well, apart from Kane, nothing tricks him 😂
Overall, this was so good, another really short read but it was still so so good. I definitely recommend if you like dark romances/erotica but look up content/trigger warnings first.

Evelina & Kane are one heck of a pair. You obviously expect Kane to be a cold-hearted killer since he is the one that escaped prison. But man, Eve she is something. I could just image the gleam in her eye. She was cunning. Honestly, I thought she was a lot smoother with her kills. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Loved it.

Jenika Snow’s novella is 93 pages long and reasonably packed, not just with shminks. I was pleasantly surprised with the plot of the novella. It’s darker than the ones that have been released before this one, and based on the tropes and blurb, it suggested the short story might be going in one direction when, in fact, it went in another. I liked that.

Hot and twisted
Two crazy halves finding each other to make an even crazier whole. This doesn't really have a lot of back story, more in the here and now. As long as you don't mind triggers then this book is for you. Definitely hits the spice meter!!!

A better novella than Unhinged, I enjoyed the storyline of an escaped psychopathic prisoner and a woman living on her own in a run down cabin. Had a good twist 2/3rds of the way in and I do love a big man with a small woman trope.

Eve and Kane are a pair matched in hell in the most perfect crazy way. While I expected Kane to be unhinged and dark I was pleasantly shocked to learn Eve is very much his match

I was pulled into Kane’s world from the first paragraph! The story between Kane and Evelina spoke to my twisted side. I definitely could use more of them!!
