#1 in Men's Adventure! #1 in Metaphysical Fantasy! #1 in Fantasy Adventure!Deep in the elbow skin of the Fae Wilds, far from the teeming fortress of the Goblin King and the glittering palace of the King and Queen of the Elves, there lies a forgotten hideaway of crumbling single-wides and rusty Airstreams.
A lonely clan of beautiful women, clad in tube tops, overall shorts, and tacky Asian-print house-dresses, yearn for a man who can unstop their sewer lines and get the internet working again.
Torn from his mundane life on Earth, Colton Winchester could be that man. With a heart of gold, boots of steel, and a great big wrench, Colton will soon become the ultimate . . . Trailer Park Manager.
Trailer Park Elves is a hilarious slice-of-life fusion of fantasy, household maintenance, and low-stakes adventure. If you liked Isekai Emperor, you’ll find more of the same goodness in this spiritual successor.
Michael Dalton is a professional journalist and editor.
Michael wrote his first piece of fiction in third grade, for which he was immediately accused of plagiarism by his teacher. Since then, he has been writing more or less steadily, interrupted only by occasional demands of work and family.
Michael lives with his family and multiple pets in Southern California.
This book is extremely classist. Diving head first into every trope of “trailer park trash” that it can rub its face in. The entire book comes across as extremely disrespecting of anyone who lives in a trailer park and goes extra hard to make it seem like anyone from Texas is automatically trailer park trash.
The book starts with the classic 'random guy gets tossed into another universe'. But, he doesn't become another Lord Kalvan. He does wind up in a form of RPG, which sometimes comes across rather discordantly. The trailer park is a caricature of trailer parks. It isn't totally unrealistic, although this trailer park is a caricature of a Texas trailer park, whist the only one I've lived in was in Alaska. So I don't have experience with trailer parks in a smaller, albeit warmer state. Yes, there is sex, but not as much as one would expect in a Dalton story. The characters are charming, and the author definitely has a sense of humor. I did find the book not as funny as AJ Markham's Succubus series, but I still enjoyed it.
Colton was in the wrong place at the wrong time, perhaps... but perhaps not. Sucked through a portal an now a Manager of a Trailer park full of cast offs and dregs, he has to pull things together to improve the lives of the residents. With hot women competing for his attention, it's hard to concentrate. Now with the revelation at the end, he's facing an assault. Looking forward to the next book.
This was a fun read! I particularly enjoyed the management side of things and all the different little quests Colton was up to; the authors have done a good job with world building within the trailer park and the surrounding zone.
There are some things though, which even if the story doesn't take itself too seriously are bummers. I know this is some sort of 'men's romance' (whatever that means) and harem story, as one can piece together from the dedications page, but come on guys... Colt(-on) Winchester??? This is supposed to be a funny story but we are bordering on caricature xD. Anyway, onto the more important stuff: Colton (pffft) seems like a decent guy trying his best from the story, but we don't really get any personality off of him - which makes it even more puzzling that the 3 girls that interact with him develop an almost obsession; the excuse that there aren't any worthy men around only goes so far. While it may justify why the girls might wanna have some fun, it doesn't explain how Tish becomes his girlfriend in like 2 days, or how Ruby is smitten with him, and why Krystal is doing espionage to win his favour. Overall he seems like the only good property manager in existence (probably cause it's fiction), although he is much more akin to an appointed mayor crossed with comptroller.
On that point, the girls don't have a lot of personality and the story mostly follows their bodily descriptions which, after a point, gets boring. That was a problem with the sex scenes in fact: I won't comment on the content, but while it would have been fine if it was casual sex, they are a bit generic and there is no emotional background to them (which made me skim them mostly), despite the authors writing them as consummating moments in the protagonists' relationship. In fact, Chastity, Krystal and Tammy seem to me the most interesting female characters just because -less so Krystal- the focus is not on them swooning over Colton for no reason, but on their actual personality and what they have going on in their life. More generally, the female characters feel like different flavours of ice-cream: they are all tasty (hehe), you know what 'flavour' you are expecting and they are that, but they are all the same, inanimate and rather one-dimensional. There are moments of clarity like exploring Tish's and Krystal's relationship but scenes when it devolves over them fighting over Colton kinda redact from them.
The male characters I won't comment on cause they are charicatures and I ain't touching that 'weak male' or whatever else with a ten foot pole xD
The villain storyline is ok. I wasn't expecting the reveal towards the end, but it also didn't particularly build tension; overall, I find the villains rather uninteresting - every story needs to have them I suppose. But that may just be my own preferences! I would have much preferred that aspect fall by the wayside in favour of showing Colton doing more for the residents (be it the homeless and destitute guys, the families with kids etc), exploring the zone, it's biomes and it's dungeons (the water filtration plant and the boiler room were the best aspects of the story, adventure-wise), and -most importantly- spend time actually connecting with his harem (which he is building at an alarming pace) by revealing his interests/personality to them and visa versa aka BONDING.
Will continue with book 2 cause this might be kinda junk food, but it is GOOOD JUNK FOOD DAMNIT. Also points deducted for the AI cover cuz, aside from ethical quandaries, it just looks trashy! Though maybe it unintentionally fits with the books theme xD lol anyway, I probably nitpicked wayyy too much. Dalton is good at weaving world building, and Lance's contributions in the LitRPG elements are also cool
This is close to my first LitRPG read -- the genre takes a bit to get used to. The mechanics can get rather disconnected from the storyline.
This is a combination of LitRPG and HaremLit. The harem is being developed slowly. There is sex in the first book, but it is a surprising way through the book before people jump into bed.
The characters are well developed and interesting. The quests are entertaining and they progress nicely.
OK, OK -- the whole series rests on jokes and stereotypes about trailer parks and their denizens. If that bugs you, this is not the series for you.
The end of the book is not a cliffhanger, but it definitely sets the scene for the next book.
4.5; didn't quite rise to "awesome", but does what it does well. A good read, another angle in the bigger universe that Dalton is building, with obvious references to other books. If you've been reading those books, this will slot in reasonably well.
Not sure how well this will stand on its' own, but it does have a story so probably ok, you just won't get the references and easter eggs about other series. Best place to start I'd say is the Demon Hunter series, but there are a bunch of books that are all related.
An elf dies and our MC gets sucked into a portal. And then put in charge of a Fae trailer park that no one can leave. No manual or training, just a magical tablet to give out quests and some snark. The ladies are interesting but the author forgets about one having a tail after their first romp. Good combat and dungeon like setting. I'm looking forward to the next book. I really like the setting so far.
Welp.... did this pop up on Kindle unlimited? Yes. Did I think it was going to be any good? No. Did I read it anyways because of the title? Absolutely. 😂 What a silly little book. I'm glad I read this and will likely read the whole series since it's such a different style of book than I'm used to. Something light and easy with brain rot entertainment kind of akin to shitty reality TV that you can't stop watching.
Also, this book is 50/50 smut and trailer park adventures. I personally think that it should be 70/30 and i don't care which part you prefer. Either you are in for the LITRPG and like some fanservice, or you want to read smut with bit of a plot. I picked that book up every now and then over the last 2 months and found myself skipping parts i was not interested at that particular moment.
Great story with amazing world building, Adam lance and Michael dalton pulled this off fantastically. The snarky remarks from the tablet are just chefs kiss. Though this book is on the shorter end, you’ll find it easy to read and wanting more. 5/5 wouldn’t change a thing.
Who knew managing a trailer park could be so entertaining. The dynamics of a litrpg and a mundane job like trailer park manager work surprisingly well and the "romance" elements were enjoyable, and I don't read romance. I will be continuing this series and cannot wait for the next book.
Michael and Adam have done it! They got me into another book that I had no clue I was into this kind of genre. Trailer park hicks, but with the fae has got to be the most unusual thing ever, but dangit does this book hit!!
Highly recommend this book, it's got the trailer vibes in spades with a bit of magic fae. 10/10 would eat that Fried Chicken!
I enjoyed this story immensely, and I have never lived in a trailer park, either. I like magic stories and even better ones about happenstance. I like Colton’s name, especially the Winchester part. It reminds me a bit of Supernatural. I took a chance with this book, and I’m glad I did.
I found the book to be an easy read that had me laughing at times. I would caution anyone interested, though, because it does have sex in the book. So, if that is not your thing, then I would avoid the book. Otherwise, it is a fun read that I really enjoyed.
An Isakai LitRPG with Harem elements. This short, fun book is about Colton, originally from Texas, but isakai'd to the fae realm from San Diego. He finds a magical tablet that allows him to pick his Class as Trailer Park Manager, and it gives him an Elite class. He starts turning the place around despite the *ahem* distractions.
Enjoyable interesting read. Who knew being a trailer park manager had so many twists and turns. The MC had a sudden entrance into the Fae world and has an interesting journey from there, at least he has a few friends to help him progress
The characters are diverse and intriguing. The plot is being developed at a very nice pace. The authors have done a wonderful job of setting things in motion to keep the readers attention. The scope of discovery is well paced and forward leaning.
Surprisingly fun read. Like fantasy Trailer Park Boys, plus some cute women and the satisfaction of a job well done. Went by pretty quick and if you like LitRPG and don't mind your characters having sex, I recommend it.
Solid Slice-of-Life with nice characters, nothing too crazy. The trailer trash aspect really shone brightly here and it had me laughing out loud for real. Giving it a 4/5 because there was nothing to make it extraordinary.
It was enjoyable engaging and progressed quickly I like this style. Strong without preaching takes what comes. Thank you. Looking forward to getting book two
I’m not sure what I read, but I’m glad I did. This is fun, but engaging and the characters are a HOOT! The creativity of a base building/dungeon diving RPG meets Trailer Trash and I love it! On to the next!
