Blood Vier #0.5

The Oath Breaker

Rate this book
Before Taryn and Vladimir and the great war that shook the continent, the Kavari Michael Gallows sought a weapon to end his own war, and Evelyn Illdalore was destined to follow in the steps of her father but always dreamed of venturing beyond her city's walls.

A chance encounter entwined their fates, testing their loyalties and desires and awakening hopes of a different future. But the cost of love demanded more than they could ever sacrifice, and to break the binds of oaths and duty would mean forsaking everything.

The Oath Breaker explores the origin story of Taryn's parents, and while a prequel, it should only be read after finishing all four books in the Blood Vier quartet.

Christy R. Harrill is the book loving and anything medieval fantasy obsessing author of the Blood Vier series. She lives in Oklahoma where she enjoys hiking with her dog Hank and devouring every book she possibly has time for. Christy loves winter, and still hopes to attain the dream of getting snowed in with four feet of snow one day. She thinks that the only good thing about summer is wearing sandals, and has a weakness for buying pretty notebooks—even though she already owns far too many blank ones at home.

SUCH a good read!! Gives backstory and depth to not just Taryn’s parents, but other characters as well(iykyk👀) WOW is it an emotional ride and I kinda wanted to read more! The author did do a good job of covering ground in the novella without it feeling choppy or rushed. Made you feel for characters in the series in a different way and again made me want more of these other cultures!!!

The. World. Building. Still spot on and so so good!!

I’m not usually a novella person, but this was so good. It really gave an interesting back story to Taryn’s parents and I enjoyed learning more about them and their history. Definitely only read this after finishing the blood vier series or you’ll have major spoilers. Highly recommend reading this though I loved it!

The idea for this novella came out of nowhere, and I'm so glad that it came to fruition. I hardly read any novellas myself, but it felt necessary for the added context it provides to the series, and boy do I love this little book ♥

(Lest you be deceived, it's not filler fluff. It will potentially rip your heart out just FYI)

I appreciated this back story as a read after the series prequel. I would’ve loved to look deeper into the reclusive country of Dalendria, but it did my heart good to read this after the havoc the series did to me.

Quick, enjoyable read that gives a bigger picture of Taryn’s parents’ story. As always, Christy Harrill paints a vivid picture with her beautiful writing and keeps you on the edge of your seat with the plot!

What a great way to introduce the family in the center of all 4 books before this. Definitely read this after you read the first 4 so you don’t get any spoilers.

Quick, easy little back story to the Blood Vier quartet. Loved learning more about Taryn’s parents. But follow the author’s instructions and read only after reading the 4 other books.
