Thank you to the author for the #goodreadsgiveaway!

I am giving this a 3 star as opposed to 2 star because I didn’t realize it was number 2 in the series and therefore, struggled with jumping into the story with no background (that’s on me!)

It is nice to have a short story to read every now and then, but they are hard to immerse yourself into since you have such a shorter amount of time to get to know the characters. I had a hard time jumping perspectives and trying to keep straight all of the characters introduced as well as the timeline of events.

I really liked the idea of the story but I didn’t know enough or connect with the main characters to care about them. I wish this was a little longer and more fledged out story. It is told every other chapter dual pov. Also, the thing I liked the least was that sometimes in a chapter the characters would be for instance in a shoot out then abruptly in their office with no page break or signifier that anything would change and I found that very disruptive.

Fast-paced Two-faced
Quick story about those who love to do criminal and legal courtroom drama.
I loved the basics of this story, only wish it had had more background and what was really going on.
Thank you, Juliette Trott, for a good story.
I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest review.

Honestly I expected too much. The idea is great, it just wasn’t executed properly. I felt 0 connection to any of the characters, there was no background knowledge or anything to keep me interested, which sucks because the story had so much potential.

A mysterious game of cat and mouse. It's hard to tell who to trust and what all the pieces to the puzzle mean. This book keeps you guessing and has you questioning everyone. A quick thrilling mystery.

The story has so much potential however I feel like it was not executed as well as it could have been. Overall it is a good book for a short read but it had potential to be more.
