Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Spice-meter: 🌶️☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Audiobook: 🎧 Single Serie: Rosewood Beach, Book 2
Sea Glass Serenade has that unmistakable “women’s fiction comfort” feel: soft edges, steady pacing, and a focus on connection rather than chaos. What struck me most was how Fiona Baker lets the emotional undercurrent speak louder than any dramatic twist. Alexis’s attempt to rebuild her footing after her father’s death feels grounded and familiar, especially as she rediscovers the rhythm of Rosewood Beach. Your own note about her marriage uncertainty really comes through here; the story gently captures that uneasy space between what once felt certain and what now feels… different. It’s a book that leans into hope without pretending everything is simple, and that honesty gives it its quiet charm. With multiple family threads running alongside Alexis’s journey, the story becomes less about romance and more about finding a version of home that still fits.
The Story
Alexis Owens is settling into her new life at The Lighthouse Grill, helping her mother keep the beloved restaurant afloat while she works through the grief her father left behind. Just when she starts finding comfort in the familiar faces, the sea breeze, and the new routines she never expected to love, her marriage resurfaces literally. Grayson arrives unannounced, determined to salvage what he nearly lost. His promises and sudden desire to stay in Rosewood throw Alexis into a painful tug-of-war: rebuild the life she once had or embrace the one she’s just beginning to shape.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Owens siblings each face their own turning points. Julia wonders if she’s ready to commit fully to Cooper and his sweet daughter. Hazel hides a quiet crush on a local handyman, unsure she’s brave enough to act on it. Dean confronts a medical diagnosis that forces him to rethink everything he expected of his future. Together, their individual struggles weave a portrait of a family trying to stay strong in shifting tides.
🎧 Narration
Narrated by Amy McFadden. Amy delivers a warm, approachable performance that suits the tone of the story well. Her pacing is smooth and her emotional delivery is steady, but the lack of distinction between characters makes certain scenes harder to follow especially in third-person narration. It isn’t a deal-breaker, but it does chip away at immersion during conversations.
What I Loved
✔️ Cozy, beach-town atmosphere ✔️ Family-centered storytelling with real emotional weight ✔️ Alexis’s personal growth and rebuilding arc ✔️ Multiple character threads that feel connected rather than cluttered ✔️ A hopeful tone without sugar-coating the hard parts
Tropes & Vibes
✔️ Women’s Fiction ✔️ Marriage at a Crossroads ✔️ Starting Over ✔️ Found Family / Strong Sibling Bonds ✔️ Coastal Small Town ✔️ Grief and Healing ✔️ Clean, Heartfelt Tone ✔️ Multi-POV Family Saga
Final Thoughts
Sea Glass Serenade is a gentle, hopeful story that doesn’t rush its emotional beats. It’s more about healing than romance, more about family than fireworks. Some threads land more strongly than others, and the narration occasionally muddies the flow, but overall it’s a warm, steady listen ideal for readers who want comfort, connection, and a touch of seaside serenity.

Fiona, I absolutely loved love loved this beautiful book from start to finish. I’m absolutely loving this beautiful series that is so heartfelt that I just cannot help to fall in love with every single character in the books. This book is totally different than what I’ve been recently listening and reading to, but it puts a massive smile in my face.
This heartfelt book made me laugh hysterically a few times, broke my heart just sometimes, made me swoon and a few other feelings. In this book, we learn about Alexis and her husband Grayson. They have been drifting away from each other for the past few years and Grayson does something that changes everything. Grayson decided that he is gonna fight for his marriage with Alexis and he goes to her hometown to win her back.
I just wanna applaud you, Amy McFadden for doing a spectacular job with this book. You truly have become one of my new favorite narrators and I cannot wait to get my hands on more books you have narrated. If you absolutely love, love, love a story that will drop everything to be with that one person that has always been yours, than this book is for you. This beautiful story has a special place in my heart.
The second trip to Rosewood Beach was a more enjoyable one for me. Sea Glass Serenade is what I would classify as women's fiction with a dash of romance, and it is a pretty fun read. I appreciate that we get to visit back with the same family, and continuing on with their stories.
Catching small glimpses of Julia's journey with Cooper is satisfying after witnessing them falling in love in the first book. We get more of a look into Dean, the only brother amongst the Owens women, and a pretty devastating medical diagnosis that takes him some time to cope with. Alexis and Grayson are the main focus of this book, and how they try to overcome a marriage on the rocks.
Amy did a pretty good job narrating, though I wish that there was more distinction between characters at times. With the book being in third person, it caused confusion as to who was talking at certain points during the story.
The Owens girls' saga continues in the second book of the series. The girls and their mother Vivian continue to cope with their father's death and help out with the running of the family tavern. Alexis, delighted to have found more of a purpose in her life, is surprised when her husband Grayson arrives after quitting his job. Dean faces health problems and sisters Julia and Hazel deal with their love lives (or lack of). The beautiful and welcoming town of Rosewood Beach serves as the backdrop for the plots. Each book of the series seems to provide us with some answers, but also reveals new questions about the Owens' lives.
This book is second in the series. So much for everyone to over come. First Vivian finds out her late husband had extreme gambling debts that could cause her to lose their restaurant. All he kids really around her to save it. Next Alexis finds she doesn't want to go back to her lonely life in L.A with a disinterested husband. More trials and tribulation follows the rest of the family but it is still an uplifting book
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🎧 Sea Glass Serenade is a warm, feel-good family romance that brings all the cozy coastal vibes. Narrated by Amy McFadden. Fiona Baker delivers another heartfelt chapter of the Owens family, blending second-chances, personal growth, and community charm. The narration adds a soft, soothing touch that makes the story even easier to sink into, creating a gentle, comforting listen perfect for unwinding.
*** If I could do half ratings, this would be a 4.5
This was another great listen! Fiona Baker does a great job in continuing the story of the Owens’ family. We get to see more of Alexis and Grayson’s story with some more details about Hazel and Dean. Amy McFadden did a great job in bringing all of these characters to life, and I enjoyed listening to her narrate.
So while I loved the book, Owens diagnosis of osteoarthritis confused me. His feeling tired, not having as much pep, needing to take frequent rests; I have had osteoarthritis of my knees for 15+ years, also in my feet. It's never caused me to be tired or need breaks throughout my day. He gets lightheaded too. Never heard of those symptoms being associated with OA.
This was a cute read about finding yourself. Love the characters and their dynamics together. Just love this town and the relationships. Just a sweet read. The Owens family are extremely likable and genuine. Just a great listen. The narrator was very good and I enjoyed this read.
Thank you Fiona Baker and Blue Nose Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ALC for my honest review.
