Rate this book
Nicole Fieldstrom is a survivor. Once a government target because of her father’s role in the rebellion, she now struggles to reconcile her past with the fragile peace they’ve fought so hard to achieve. But when the man responsible for the war’s darkest atrocities mysteriously escapes from prison, the nation spirals into chaos, and no one knows who to trust.

Haunted by painful memories and determined to protect her family, Nicole is drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, hunting the escaped villain and his shadowy accomplices. But as the lines between friend and foe blur, she begins to wonder—who can she really trust?

Forgotten Target is a gripping tale of survival, political intrigue, and the search for meaning in a world rebuilt from the ashes of war.

Film Noir. Political Drama. Dystopia. This book has all the flavors of intrigue you could want.

It's interesting to see an after-the-fact story--what happens to the loose ends after the big dystopian overthrow. The mystery and the world are well built as we wonder if war ever truly ends, and I feel just as caught up in the intrigue as the characters.

Nicole's voice is alive as the country girl caught up in her father's world of fighting injustice. The characters are all detailed and feel real. (I'm in love with Sam as soon as he's on the screen, okay?) But others like Madeline and Darin also feel like real people you've met. The political drama makes you think without pushing any point of view. It kept me hooked even having read it more than once. I teared up near the end. Now, excuse me why I go bully the author into editing book two because you can't end it like that!!!!

Now, there are some copy and line edits needed, but the story is good enough that I actually did not even care.
