Love and Decay 2, Episode Nine

Rate this book
Zombies- as if that wasn’t enough to ruin any girl’s dream of a happily ever after.

Reagan has suffered through a lot of heartbreak during her years surviving the end of the world. She’s lost her parents, her high school boyfriend and now the boy she thought would love her forever.

Hendrix might not be dead, but he’s left Reagan and the separation might be more than she can handle.

It’s not all bad news for Reagan and company though and when something good finally happens to the downtrodden group, they can’t help but feel hope for the first time in a long time.

But this is the Zombie Apocalypse after all and nothing good lasts long. A battle for their lives, an enemy asking them to trust him and plans to bring down Matthias Allen and his merry band of militia keep life active and interesting for Reagan, even while she mends her broken heart.

She can fight Zombies with the best of them, but can she struggle through the aftermath of her shattered relationship? Even more, can she survive the comfort of a boy that didn’t break her heart? A boy that very much wants to help her put all those fragile pieces back together?

Kane is waiting in the wings, and what Hendrix doesn’t want anymore, he will gladly take. And keep.

And we're on the home stretch for this season!! I found this to be a very emotionally charged episode right from the start. Reagan put me through all the feels from her dream, to dealing with the reality of her and Hendrix, and the emotions surrounding Page. And even though I'm having a hard time always understanding Reagan and how she feels, I felt all of THOSE emotions clear as day. She had me even crying for a bit. Now her Kane feelings? I don't know. I'm still a bit lost on all of that. Again, not that I don't see bits of goodness and dimension in Kane, but I just don't buy her "other" feelings for him. I don't see the chemistry, or get the tummy butterflies that way. Maybe it's because she spends so much time thinking about how she would never choose him, that I end up agreeing with her (even if she's only trying to convince herself). Gonna be interesting to see where it goes, even though I do know a spoiler or two for the end of this season....I still don't know how it's all going to play out.

I had a dream last night that the world was new again. I could have lived forever in those short hours of blissful oblivion.
**

While the group makes plans to take back Gage's compound, Page awakens. The reunion between Page and everyone nearly breaks Reagan. The pain of it all is too much. She can't handle being the outcast and still have these feelings for Hendrix. Feelings she just cannot turn off. Then there are the feelings she has for Kane. Sure they don't even compare to the ones she carries for Hendrix, but again, she can't just turn them off. Add the guilt of Page's predicament on top of all that...emotions just festering, all bottled up inside of her. Reagan is about to lose it if she doesn't learn to control it. Surviving is the only way out. And that is what she plans to do. Survive!

This is probably one of the hardest Love and Decay reviews I‘ve had to write. Not that I didn’t like it, because I loved it. I just keep going back over what I have down and deleting it. There are things I want to say, but it would be too spoilery. I guess I can say it like this…Reagan has some much needed time to think over the past couple days. Think on her past and think on her future. Hendrix has also had some time to think. But I don’t necessarily think his thinking helped anyone involved. Maybe they should have kept their distance for a bit longer. Because I am confused now more than ever with these two.

I felt too much. I saw too much. And it was destroying me.
But he didn’t want to see that. All he let himself believe was that I had somehow betrayed his trust and fallen for another man. And those things were not true.

**

I mentioned in my review of episode 8 that I had this feeling of something big is about to happen. Well, this episode just reconfirmed those feelings. The anticipation of what they will find at the compound and if they will be able to take down Matthias is high. The group is at their brink and I feel that the last remaining episodes of this season will be fireworks. Absolute fireworks!

Now even though this was a hard review to write I still loved this episode. How could I not love it? We get some one on one time with Hendrix and Reagan. For those that love Kane, there is a really great scene there as well. Yes, even I can admit that was a really good scene. And of course we get some ravenous zombie action. All in all, it was a fantastic episode. I am, however, nervous for what is to come...even more so nervous for my favorite characters. I need the next episode soon! I guess since I have 2 weeks to wait I should start preparing myself now. *Bites nails* Another 5 Star Episode!

This is an interesting series.
It has humour so things don't get too heavy but at the same time they do loose people and there is violence and killing.

The series is a long one and these main characters stories continue for 3 seasons.
There is also a spin off series that deals with the sister later.

There is little intimacy. There is touching, hugging and a few kisses but no sex until much later in the last season.
The main 2 characters have love interests but due to the nature of the start of the virus and the constant threat there are no intimate scenes until the end of season 3.

Each season ends on a HFN with an enemy thread running through the whole series.
Each episode either ends as HFN with a goal set for the next or at times an immediate threat will run across several episodes.
At the time I read these the whole series was on Amazon KU so it was possible to read one after the other or complete in a box set.
If you start reading and want to get to a HEA you will need to read the entire 3 seasons.
There is the immediate zombie threat which is constant but also the series deals with humanities reaction to survival.
Often a bigger threat is the desire for power between the surviving groups and these at times use lack of resources and scientific experimentation to control the main threats.
Later in the series there is a love triangle situation of sorts for the heroine.
It's not exactly a love triangle but there is a dividing force between the main couple due to the interest from another man.
There are no intimate details but there is a kissing scene with the other man, but at the time the main couple are not together.
The characters are all very different, they have their flaws but they are college age so when they make mistakes and sometimes they are stupid ones I put it down to youth and although they have learnt survival through experience the threat is constant so it's not easy for them to be sensible all the time.
There is a good bit of banter between the group and a great deal of humour.
There are some serious issues dealt with too and the main human enemy threat is pretty evil.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I both enjoyed and did not enjoy this one, but I think it's mostly just the love triangle that spins me out, the action and the suspense and the other drama was all on point! I like where the world is heading, it's interesting with just the right amount of fun + edge of your seat nervous excitement.

I still love Kane and I love Hendrix (though the latter is slightly too bossy for me) so I can't see this series ending without tears - metaphorical, of course, and actually I'll probably be more angry than upset because I get that way when an official choice is made. I wish I didn't care so much about the girl's love-life, the series started off really strong with her not caring as much either, but gosh darn, I feel strung along at times with this one.

Anyway, there were some good conversations in this one. There was still a bit of that, oh I could never love anyone like I loved Hendrix crap too... while we're watching Tyler potentially move on... what's good for the goose and all.... but it felt a bit more settled I guess, so I bumped it up to four stars. It was good, but I don't hang out for these like I used to though.

Sheesh, I adore Rachel and everything she writes - but man oh man, this episode made me crazy! I spent the whole thing wanting someone to smack Hendrix in the head! He's out of his senses and a good head/shoulders smacking might just help him see reason. My only hope is that the reunion with Reagan will knock my socks off when it happens.

I enjoyed every page of this one, and that's saying a lot based on my stress level from episodes 7 and 8. After I got over the first chapter, and my gut-wrenching reaction to it, I realized how important it was to have time inside Reagan's head for a little bit again. That girl needed to some time to process what has happened to lately.

This episode was so good that it is going to be SO very hard to wait through the next 2 weeks!

This is the first series that has caused me actually Tweet the author. I want to tell her that if she doesn't get Reagan and Hendrix straightened out I will not read any more of her books. Ever. But that is a very empty threat because I could not possibly not read the next episode in this series. And the next. And the next. These last three episodes may be the best in the entire series. They go way deep into the feelings of Reagan and episode Eight was from Tyler's POV. I think if I was in the zombie apocalypse I would be feisty and rational like Tyler but fight like Reagan. I know, because I am a good shot and I have had archer experience.
I am on pins and needles waiting for the next episode. Please fix Reagan and Hendrix, please, Rachel!

Loving the new feel to these books. For a minute there it was turning a bit too much action/adventure to me. Reagan was a super woman who got concussion after bone jarring concussion and just kept on going, and better than everyone else I might add.
Now the story has heart and is more emotional. Right when I was starting to get bored of the Kane repetition, I got hooked again.
Reagan and Hendrix just can't seem to come together again. Blame fear, pride, arrogance, whatever it is they just keep missing each other. Kane has had an epiphany on his life and as Reagan has put it, is now "Team Parker". But can she trust him?
And we finally find out what happens to little Page.
Great story! Can't wait for the next one.

Ugh, I'm not satisfied. I don't like this Hendrix/Reagan dilemma and the idea of going south is still wrong to me. Bobbi Jo dying was enough proof this isn't going to be a pretty journey. And this crap with killing Matthias... I want it SO bad but it's gonna take a miracle to kill that man, and then what? Are they gonna still go south? Take over the compound? Who's gonna lead? GET IT TOGETHER LOVE & DECAY GANG.

I'm trying not to feel frustrated, but it's hard... I had started to root for Kane a little, but after this episode, I really really miss Hendrix.
Hey, Rachel, how about a spin off series about Miller and Page when they're in their teens?! That would just be too sweet. :)
But for now can we please get Reagan's head on straight and either win Hendrix back or take a chance on Kane? My heart just can't take it.

I just want to punch Hendrix in the face...an all out knock out! He is supposed to fight for Reagan...he is supposed to love her "to the end!" What the what!!! AARRRGGG! It's starting to stress me out. But, i love it...this awesome story is like a sweet torture. And although I feel like I have the same complex toward Kane as Reagan does, Hendrix and Reagan just have to find their way back to one another...even though he so doesn't deserve it right now!! ;)

The last few episodes have been awesome. Action packed and emotional, am gutted Kane finally managed to come between Reagan and Hendrix, who needs a slap for being stupid (though truthfully I don't get what Reagan sees in kane after everything he caused) i just hope their reunion is on the cards ( please RH ) I love them together, very excited for what is to come next especially with Page.
This is a amazing series and I recommend everyone to read it, brilliant zombie story :)

I am very confused about Reagan. Kane is someone she loathes and care about. Hendrix is someone she loves unconditionally. However she is very young to understand the difference between friendship and love. We love people we are friends with there are the attachments that bind us forever. Then there is the love we feel for our significant other. I wish she would recognize it and try to get her priorities in check.

Have to read this zombie series it's epic. I ignored the call of Spain's sea and sand to read this brilliant series. Kindle one click made me read the entire series while on holidays in Spain. An epic adventure filled with lust, love, blood, kisses, zombies, action, suspense, intrigue, fear and resilience.

This love triangle is going to be the death of me! My feelings and emotions are just as messed up as Reagan's. I am thinking this is going to have to end with a deadly sacrifice...just saying. Now to prolong the few weeks until the next episode comes out.

This episode had a lot in it, but yet didn't take us far at all. I am thinking the next ones are going to be backed with a lot of action. Still not sure how this will all end so I think that is what has me all worked up. Still in love with this story!
