This is Primya Crosswin's first short story collection.

For a new author, the stories in this collection are refreshingly new. Even when the themes are well known ones, the presentation and the language make them new. That appealed to me.

Each story created a world and in that world Crosswin makes the reader to wade through it observing everything that the author wanted the reader to observe.

Three of the stories were set in Veerapandiapattinam, the home town of the author. It is a Catholic coastal village. And these stories reflect such landscape and Christianity, the main religion of the village is also looked at with critical eye. But the criticism is subtle but profound. The titles of these stories are: SILUVAIYAI SURANDI THINRAVARKAL, PEEDA POOKKAL, & GETHSEMANE).

There were stories that had the theme of feminism hinted at (fr example the stories titled PIDAARI and ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!).

Some of the stories, as they ended give the reader a jolt - either it is achieved through an imagery (story titled OOZHI) or through an emotional impact (story titled THIRAI).

Primya Crosswin is a new entrant into the Tamil Prose. And I wish to see her writing continuously. Looking forward to her new short story collections and also full length novels.
