This was a really dark and tough book to read. I really like Cara and her friends. I predicted the pregnancy in the last book but there were so many surprises in store for me. Lots of twists and suspense. So much happens and its hard to not spoil so I will keep my mouth shut about it.
I love this series. When I read the first book I was like "ok I found the next best series about feries after thithe by Holly Black. And it is...The third book is focus on Cara after she gets kidnapped by the bad guy(Drake's grandfather). To be honest I am not as thrilled about this book, or the second, as I was about the first. Probably cause I have like 19 more books to read and I am anxious to read them. Anyway I wasn't disappointed by the book, just by Drake's behaviour(what an asshole) and I am more fond of Brendan than ever!!!!
I liked it. Cara was hilarious with all her outfits and playing games. What I didn't like, and made me uncomfortable, was her pregnancy. The book was just so focused on it, and originally, I read these books because of Cara, not her kid. So basically, what I'm trying to say is that I will not be reading the next book.
This was amazing! Everything that happened in this book was a result of Cara and her stubbornness. She was just fine back in the human realm with Zoe supporting her but she just had to go back to the Fae! Look at everything that happened due to her poor decision making, let's hope that now that Scarlet is in the picture Cara will act more mature and make better decisions!
BTW...what is up with Drake's behavior? If he disappointed me by the end of book one, he sure as shit has just gotten worse during the last two books! I mean who is he protecting Cara or himself? Why couldn't she fall for Brendan? No she just has to get all googly eyes for a damn temperamental faery!
Trigger warning. This book contains a lot of violence against women. Torture even. That being said, this story continues Cara's tale...and what a dark and twisted tale it is. I found myself troubled by the darkness in this book and yet unable to turn away. I just had to know what happened. And without giving too much away, can I just say I freaking wanna slap Drake upside his skinny ass head! And Brendan, poor tortured soul Brendan. I love him...I wanna hug his big burly neck and tell him he's forgiven.
Knew she was with child. Cara makes idiotic choices, and then puts the blame elsewhere. How is it Brendan and Drakes fault? Drake sent you back..you could have made it with Zoe's help..I wanted to reach through the book and strangle her ass numerous times.
This installment went dark..was waiting for the evilness of the fae to shine through. They are far from tinker bell 😂😂 and I love it. Anya..you're good girl..I wouldn't leave my man. 😂😂
Back in the fae realm with an even more shattered sense of self worth and fear of becoming something other our main character is doing her best to cope with protecting her own. This is only the hump to the storyline people and it keeps you waiting for more. It is surprisingly sentimental and ferocious and portrays a great view of how mother's feel.
Great story, beautiful evolution of the characters from the previous books and fantastic new characters. This series gets better with every new chapter of the story. Finally a take to the faery world of old that is not pink glitters and rainbows. Love it!
All of the books in the series take you on a journey of emotions from joy to despair and back to joy. But one for sure these books are for mature readers only.
This series is amazing! So many twists and turns, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Cara going from strength to strength, proving that she is not 'just a human'. Loved it!
Wow! This was an intense book. This series seems to be getting better and better as I read on. So much has gone on and so much is yet to be resolved. On we must go!
This is a comfort series that i always find myself going back too!!! Such a good story and plot, keeps you intrested and keeps you coming back!! Couldnt recommend this series enough!
Queen is completely fantabulous! I read it straight through and I cannot wait until the next book is out! You will not be disappointed with the third book in this series! In order to not give away too much this is all I could come up with beyond this book is FANTABULOUS!!!
Cara finds herself in a bit of a situation, again, and feels the best thing to do is make her way back to faery and the protection of the one king that owes her a favor.
She makes it to the Green Kingdom and is granted protection and warmth, by all but especially the king.
The Silver King and Queen, whom are in the Green Kingdom when Cara arrives, greeting is, to be nice, icy.
Cara eventually finds herself in the Chaos Kingdom, and she does everything she can just to stay alive and to protect herself and the soul reason she made her way back to the realm
Great Author and Book Series exciting, intertwining, keeps you on the edge of you seat. can't wait till the next book comes out. I. hope Cara and Drake work something out. I. also hope Cars, Drake and Breanden can pull it all together to fix the problem with the Darkside from spreading, help closest down and hope te Goddess comes back to help guide them the right way with Cara's help holding them together. So freaking glad I only rediscovered this series recently and only have 10 days to wait 'til the release of book 4. I seriously can't wait to finish Cara's story! Love this series.
I love this series. Its well written. Great plot and characters. This is the kind of series you don't want to end. Luckily according to her Facebook page she's working on book 5 now.
Queen starts with Cara back in the human realm, living with Zoe and attempting to go on with her life without the fae. This proves difficult to do when Cara finds that she’s pregnant with Drake’s child (which, by the way, is something I assumed by about half-way through Fade. Yep, totally called this one.)
After a difficult coming-to-terms with the fact that a fae baby is growing inside her, Cara decides that she will keep the child. However, she knows she will need to return to the faery world to keep her fae child safe. Since Brendan owes her his life, she asks him for help and she once more finds herself in the world of the faeries and the faery courts. Upon returning she finds the world has changed with the two ruling kings. Perhaps the first big change Cara is faced with is that Drake is married… to Sorcha.
Ugh, I died a little.
Other changes include that the third king of the realm, old enemy Sadler, actually has quite a little following and is shaking things up between both Brendan and Drake. Brendan further stirs the pot by swearing to help Cara and making her unborn child his heir (until he gets married and has one of his own, of course.)
You can only imagine how something like that goes over with everyone.
And just when you think Cara’s situation can’t get any more depressing, she’s kidnapped by Darksiders and taken to Sadler’s Chaos Court where, to Cara’s horror, she is forced to marry Sadler.
And again, that’s just the beginning.
Queen was a tough one to read for me. At this point in the series, I’m attached to the cast of characters and to follow through the stages of Cara’s despair is difficult. When she first sees Drake, he is a completely different person and your heart breaks with her. Not to mention the disgust you feel when she has to deal with the Darksiders and their court of chaos. Being a young woman myself, I find it hard to imagine being in such a situation while also being pregnant. It makes you think “well, what else can go wrong today?” Cara manages to stand tall through most of it, giving readers sparks of entertainment while she drives Sadler even crazier with some of her stunts. Halfway through Cara realizes that she doesn’t have anything to lose and she lets herself make Sadler’s life a living hell at times.
However, Queen is dark and Cara is forced to go to places that Drake was longing to save her from starting in the first book. This time, though, she is alone. The only hope she haves is with the survival of her child. Even that is not something she believes she is fully capable of doing. The story will kick you in the heart but you want Cara and her child to survive despite all they experience.
Favorite Character: Vix. She comes across as a total bitch at first, but she grows on you.
Favorite Runner-Up: Bart. Because his name is Bart. And he’s a hunchback. And, really, you wonder what the hell his story could be.
Least Favorite Character: Definitely Sadler. He is CRAY. But Drake goes on this list too I’m sad to say. I was very disappointed in him. Like, still can’t forgive him yet.
Favorite Fairy Tale Gone Horrid: The entire Chaos Court. Especially the Doctor. WTF is up with THAT guy.
Favorite Moment: I loved when Cara starting causing trouble in the court as queen. She takes on this attitude that I could see myself taking on if I were in a similar situation. She may be going down, but she is determined to be remembered.
Least Favorite Moment: How Drake reacts after he hears Cara is pregnant. The scene in her room is absolutely heartbreaking. It’s not so much a bad moment as an incredibly sad moment. Another least favorite moment is something Sadler and the Doctor do… no spoilers but it hurts you.
Favorite Quote: Brendan has a ton of fun quotes. The big guy is growing on me.
