"Cavity Activity Anxiety"

Yep, time to DNF 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Okay, I can't say it's a bad book necessarily, it's just definitely not for me. Things that didn't work for me. There was no real chemistry between the H and h. The H seemed to just like any and all women. Nothing about Amelia seemed to be special necessarily. Meanwhile, Amelia was really not for me. She over thinks everything to death, is judgemental and yet, suddenly jumps Jake out of nowhere. For someone who was recently "hymen challenged" and constantly looking down here very British nose at him, it seemed Really out of character. The cheesy phrases were another issue for me. Speaking of cheesy phrases, I'm pretty sure the author did all her research into british vernacular from Downton Abbey and was compensating for her lack of knowledge by stuffing as many British words into the FMC's vocabulary as often as possible. Most of them were super outdated saying that no modern British young person would say like having "a spot of tea", this is like if she said something was "the bee's knees" 🙄 Anyways, that would have probably all been forgivable if the story was in any way interesting, but it took me a day and a half to read like 100 pages because I kept getting bored and quitting or getting annoyed that yet another person was bringing up the "handcuff incident". The whole thing could have been a funny, endearing meet cute, but the way Amelia was deliberating on what to do like she held the nuclear launch codes and then the handcuffs became the central plot point of the whole story was just too on the nose and obnoxious. All-in-all, if you don't mind some cheese and love a bad Hallmark movie, this might be for you.

Fun, emotional and steamy. What a great example of happenstance and new beginning. The reality of his football followers was a bit hectic which I think was normal and realistic. He's a steadfast guy giving his all in all, very down to earth, patient and romantic. His family is a hoot and so welcoming. She's a bit unsteady, with all that baggage she's dragging around but tries real hard to be smart with her new, adventurous life. I felt sorry for her at times, she's emotionally overwhelmed but he's a dream come true. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

OMG & welcome to the big Apple. An escape to NYC to restart a life that has been destroyed. A trust that has been betrayed. Thrust into a throughly awkward situation and trying to make the best choices. The twists start early and the surprises keep coming. The characters are well developed. The challenges are cumbersome. The attraction is intense. The tale is entertaining. But everyone eventually will wake up. Then hold onto your pages!

I love a good sports romance! Jake is the best, he’s the running back for the Titans and he’s the jokester of them all. He’s sweet, caring, hardworking, funny… Amelia on the other hand was a bit shy at first but blossomed throughout the story. They were a bit of an odd couple in the beginning but opposites attrack so they worked out very well. I loved the banter between Jake and his sisters, the family dynamic was fantastic. I also loved how possessive he got when Amelia was working for the Skybox Support event and was wearing his teammate’s jersey, it really made me smile. I really hope there are more books coming in this series.

I received a copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

An Unexpected Adventure . . .

Amelia had everything under control and going smoothly. But then her boyfriend had a little surprise to share with her… a pregnant fiancee! Leaving behind all her plans to eventually inherit the family inn and run it with Ben-the-Bartender, she headed for New York and a totally new life. She was hoping she would find a job to supplement her quickly disappearing savings. But for now, she had a room at an AirBNB, and they promised her a welcome gift.

Unfortunately, Fate steps in to provide a few laughs and a completely unexpected welcome. Stepping into her room she finds a handsome NFL player, later identified as Jake Cunningham, naked and actually handcuffed to her bed! But not being an American football fan, the celebrity name he mentions means nothing to Amelia. However, the woman who did this to him left the keys to the handcuffs out of his reach on the nightstand to taunt him, then took a picture of him as she left. She had apparently even posted the picture, judging by the nonstop buzzing of his phone lying somewhere on the floor. Will Amelia decide to trust him and get him out of his embarrassing predicament? (She had been considering calling the police, which would make his shame even worse and probably even more public.) Would he hurry away and try to forget it ever happened? Or could this be the start of a very special relationship as they get to know each other. Welcome to America, Amelia! You may have found your first grateful friend and that new start you were looking for!

This wrong place, right time romance has one of the funniest meet cutes that I've read in a while.

Amelia thought that her life was all mapped out until her boyfriend showed up with a pregnant fiance. So, she gives up on running her grandmother's inn and heads to New York with dreams to start a new life. Her fresh start is anything but smooth when she finds a hot NFL player handcuffed to the bed in her Airbnb. Jake may have found himself in a seriously compromising position, but the adorable British woman that comes to his rescue may make his humiliation worth it.

The first several chapters of this story had me laughing out loud at times. After that, the story took a slightly more serious turn, but overall, Amelia and Jake's romance isn't too angst filled. These two definitely steam up the pages though as Jake uses his charms to teach Amelia the American version of football. Jake's family is one that you'll want to be a part of and I love how they embraced Amelia right from the start. There were a few directions that I suspected that this story might go, but this author surprised me and didn't follow what I thought would be the typical route.

This is an enjoyable, LOL, heartwarming story. If you're a fan of sports romance, I'd definitely add this one to your TBR.

Ugh. I tried to like this book.

I really didn't like how everyone treated Jake. It was too much making him out to be the bad guy. His family kept saying negative things and then saying they loved him. It was annoying how they never actually seemed to like Jake. I feel like the entire story focuses on the handcuffed mistake. It was hard to read.

3.5 I thought this one was funny. I had some laughs. Both MCs were likable and I really liked the mix of British and American. (Possible spoilers ahead)

I did think the plot ventured into “that’s mighty convenient” when h became friends with H’s sister randomly- which led to the couple’s second meet up. Whatever I’m rolling with it

So h decides to leave England after she found out her ex was already engaged and had a baby on the way. She arrives in NYC late one night to her AirBnb. There’s a hot, naked NFL football player handcuffed to the bed. 😂😂 He was supposed to have a ONS with a woman, but she set this up to get pictures to sell to the media.

So yes, H is a playboy. He’s mostly a green flag, though
h has only ever had one partner, but she’s from a very small village in England. She’s lived a sheltered life with her gran.
The banter between the MCs is good. I chuckled a lot
(The word “knickers” will always be funny to me especially when I imagine them in an England accent)

They go their separate ways, but the next day h meets a lady in the park. They become friends after the lady’s dog pees on h. She takes her to her mom’s house so h can clean up- and that happens to be H’s childhood home. His mom is there with all his 6 (I think) sisters. He’s the only boy. So h becomes friends with H’s family.

They have smex by 28% in.

Most of the book is the couple further developing their relationship. h is also trying to get her company together.

The 3rd act breakup- h got scared. Honestly, I felt H and the football organization threw her under the bus. 🤷‍♀️ The fact that nobody got her security when all that hatful stuff came out was disgraceful. They told her to say “no comment” and everything would blow over. Well, not before it was wrecking her reputation and company. The author never bought that up, but it bugged me.
Thankfully, the breakup only lasted a few days. I did roll my eyes when she handcuffed herself to his bed. Please 🙄

6 months later, he proposes. It was a cute one and totally fitting with the way he did it.

The book I’ve been waiting for!

The last book in the Wrong Place, Right Time series came out four years ago. I have waited four very very very long years for the final book in the trilogy. I knew something good was going to happen, though. Handcuffs, naked football star, and internet infamy. But that’s all I’ve had to cling to for four LONG years.

Today I got my book! Woohoo! And, OMG, it’s a scorcher.

Ivy Hunt writes sexy, steamy books. Her style is New York City all the way – glamor, glitz, and a whole lot of humor.

I love fish-out-of-water books. Amelia is clearly that – she’s left small-town England behind (as well as a wanker ex) and with her broken heart, she’s and made her way to Manhattan. Only things don’t quite go as planned. When she arrives at her accommodation, she finds a guy she’s never met handcuffed to the bed.

Putting aside the very serious issue of revenge porn, this is a funny situation. Amelia has to decide what to do – help the guy out or run screaming? She chooses the adult route of not exposing the guy to further ridicule, helping him out, then fleeing herself.

Only to have him come back into her life in the most hilarious fashion – those of us with dogs can completely relate.

Jake, said football star, helps Amelia get a job. But having that job means they can’t date. Oops. Hence the secret relationship.

Now, a bunch of stuff happens (this book is much longer than the previous two), but it all makes sense. Jake and Amelia work – but they’ve got to go through Hell to figure that out. Oh, and a walking music tour of New York as well.

Include Jake’s amazing family, his football friends, and a whack of zany snippets of the New York life and what you wind up with is a great novel. And I have to say the ending was amazing.

I recommend this book and certainly hope I won’t have to wait another four years for the next Ivy Hunt sexy romance.

I really enjoyed the story 'Not Just a Trick Play' by Ivy Hunt. It was a fantastic love story that was well written with a lot of character and heart. Amelia is an English woman running away from a humiliating situation back home in England. She was heavily invested in a secret relationship with an employee in her grandmother's inn before he walked in with his fiancé who happened to be pregnant. Her grandmother did not know about her affair with the employee and Amelia was too embarrassed to tell her. So, she lands in New York and goes to the Airbnb that she has rented for the next two weeks only to be confronted by a naked man in the bedroom who is handcuffed to the bed. He happens to be Jake Cunningham, an NFL Titan football player who was lured there and shackled to the bed. He had been there for hours, and he was very happy to see Amelia. She was frightened, of course, and he had to convince her that he was not dangerous before she would agree to uncuff him. It was certainly a memorable way to meet and just the start of their relationship. When they meet up just a couple of days later it seemed that fate was bringing them together again. The story was very interesting and all about not only his career but Amelia finding her own exciting career too.

POV: Dual, First Person
FMC: Amelia
MMC: Jake
OW(M)/Cheating: No
3rd act breakup: A short one.
Instalove: No, but one heck of a meet weird. It’s not cute, it’s odd and funny.
Series: Yes, third in the series. I have read and enjoyed them all.
Spice: It has it! Nothing too out there, but definitely not tame.
Writing: The previous books in the series have been novellas. I enjoyed them, but wow does Hunt flex her writing abilities when writing a novel. There’s more depth to the characters and Hunt let her witty sense of humor shine. I’m really impressed that she was able to stay true to Amelia using British English/terms/slang and Jake using American English/terms/slang. A lot of authors struggle when alternating between the two and that’s a big pet peeve of mine.
Editing: There are a bit of editing issues. Nothing that really takes you out of the story (except in one spot) but I’m sure those will be worked out before publishing.
Read this author before: Yes.
Available on KU: Yes
Should you read it: Absolutely. You don’t need to read the first two in the series to enjoy it, however I still would just because they’re good.

This is an ARC review.

OMG So funny!
Imagine flying into New York from across the pond. It's the middle of the night and you're just getting to your Airbnb - which, to be honest, isn't as good as it looked online. But you're exhausted and you just want to crash. You turn on the bedroom light and - AHH! There's a naked man cuffed to the bed! Your bed! OK, so he has some redeeming, uh, assets.
And that's just the beginning!
Jake and Amelia are fun together. Despite the circumstances of their first meeting, Amelia is full of barbs and wit. She doesn't trust Jake, no matter what his smile does to her. But Jake is determined to win her over.
Expect a fair amount of drama. There's a picture going viral and the fallout from that, including Jake's teammates being rather unforgiving in their jokes. Not to mention the team's PR department having quite a lot to say. Then he has to explain it to his family - Mom and five pretty crazy sisters who cut him no slack.
This was a really fun read, with a football player who finds himself in a bit of a predicament, and the British woman who gets the surprise of her life! Fuzzy pink handcuffs included.

Amelia, the female lead, has left her small UK hometown and come to New York to escape her cheating boyfriend and his pregnant fiancée. But, when she walks into her rental flat, she’s shocked to find Jake, the male professional football player, handcuffed to her bed. She sets him free, thinking she’ll never see him again.

The next time Amelia runs in to Jake, his sister has brought her to his mother’s house as a new friend she met at the park. Finding out Amelia needs a job, Jake organises for her to get an interview at his football club. Now they’ll see each other constantly but club policy forbids an intimate relationship between them…

This longer story is dual POV, well written, and a funny, steamy, contemporary sports romantic comedy. I applauded Amelia’s initiative in escaping to follow her dreams. I sympathised with her anxieties and appreciated Jake’s active support and encouragement of her endeavours. I laughed at Jake’s brashness, and enjoyed his willingness to reach for what he wanted. I enjoyed their individual development, and the relationship development. I enjoyed the ending.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Amelia is ready for a fresh start and books herself a one-way ticket to New York. She knew she would be in for a bit of culture shock but nothing could have prepared her to find a man handcuffed to the bed in her Airbnb.

Not Just a Trick Play is part of the Wrong Place, Right Time series. Each of these football romances can be read as stand-alones. This book does contain open-door content.

The chemistry in this one is a bit more subtle. Amelia and Jake definitely have one of the more unusual first meetings so there’s no surprise that things get awkward. They’re sort of indifferent, maybe even a little annoyed with one another early in the book but something keeps drawing them together. Jake’s family is delightful and I love how welcoming they were to Amelia.

This is the first book that I have read from author Ivy Hunt but I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Not Just a Trick Play is an amazing sports romance which I found to be suspenseful and definitely a page turner. This book is completely captivating from beginning to end which I did NOT want to set down until I read the last page. Not Just a Trick Play is phenomenally written, well balanced and beautifully executed by Ivy Hunt. This is the first book that I have read by Ivy Hunt and I was completely hooked by the story. This book follows the journey of Amelia and Jake. I adored getting to know both Amelia and Jake as well as witnessing their feelings for one another come to life throughout the book. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I love that Amelia and Jake got to have a happily ever after with them being happy together as a couple. Not Just a Trick Play is definitely a book that I would encourage other readers to checkout and give it a read. I’m looking forward to seeing what will come next from Ivy Hunt in the future.

At the moment, my trope of choice seems to be heavily centred around sports romance, so Just Just a Trick Play was perfect to pop my Ivy Hunt cherry.

Jake, an NFL star and Amelia, an English rose with dual citizenship and a desire to make a new life for herself in NYC.

Unlikely to cross paths, so you'd think? However, Ivy Hunt sets up their meet cute in a way that even the less imaginative readers out there could believe.

I loved the story of the now former, one and done playboy Jake and the trepidacious Amelia.

The Cunningham family, their open arms and home, their banter and obvious love for each other, is the perfect place for 'in search of her place in the world' Amelia.

Having been to New York, I learned amazing things about the city's music history that I didn't know before, which made this novel special on a completely different level.

There is so much to like about this story, and now I've 'met' Ivy Hunt, I'm sure we'll  cross paths again and again.

This was an enjoyable read with a funny meet cute between the MMC and FMC. Of course there's instant attraction but I liked how they didn't immediately jump into it and took a bit of time getting to know each other first. It actually made me want to re-read the first two books in the series because while I remember they also had good meet cutes as well, I don't remember all the details as it was a while ago that I read them.

Anyway, Amelia's Britishness was on point (speaking as a Brit) but did seem to be almost of an era (i.e. rather like Bridget Jones). Fortunately that's my era so it worked well for me! There was more going on with the characters outside of their relationship to keep things interesting and the music element was no doubt very well researched and added more to the story. Jake's family was great fun (loved them) and he was adorable. Amelia was a little too naive at times but it added to her charm.

All in all, this was an entertaining read with interesting and well rounded characters.

This was such a fun and emotional romance for Jake and Amelia and really, walking in on a naked guy handcuffed to the bed is not something anyone could ever think would happen to them. Lol! Of course, Amelia is there for a fresh start after leaving her cheating boyfriend, and fate seems to have a hand in throwing these two together. Jake was a wonderful character, supporting her in any way he could. Amelia was brave to reach for her dreams but she did have some anxieties trying to hold her back. I really was glued to my reader with this one with all the humour, drama, twists and steam and loved the ending. All in all, it's a great read and I'm looking forward to what's next by this author :D

I'm so disappointed in myself that I am barely reading a book by Ivy Hunt. Not Just a Trick Play had me laughing out loud so many times my boss caught on that I wasn't working....oops LOL! Amelia decides to leave the UK for vacation after the guy she gave her v-card to broke her trust and heart. But she wasn't expecting to find a handsome naked guy in her Air BNB. I swear I don't think I'll ever look oat pink fuzzy handcuffs and not crack up. Jake is a hot pro athlete that was looking for a good time and didn't expect to be left hanging literally!! I also couldn't get enough of Jake's sisters and mom. They were hilarious. I couldn't put this book down. I was hooked from the very beginning. Now I need to read the first two books.

I received an ARC of this book an I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Firstly, I loved the main characters. Amelia and Jake were both great.

This book started well with a very unusual first meeting 😂. I loved the added humour both the characters bought to the book. The side characters were also well written and I enjoyed the way the story developed and the sense of close family connections.

The British/American dynamic worked really well and like Amelia, being a Brit I have no clue on American Football either but this did not make the book less enjoyable, I could still envisage the characters and the stadiums.

A really well written book, with humour and passion. What more can you ask for?

Thank you Ivy for letting me have an advanced copy.

I definitely enjoyed this book and adored the interactions between the MC’s.

The meet cute was hilarious and I adored the British sass that Amelia brought with her.

The story unfolded really well and in a different direction than I imagined. I loved how the angst and drama that the author brought wasn’t the usual that you find in a sports romance.

Delightful characters, I just missed the depth of background to both Jake and Amelia. Clearly their pasts shaped them but it was rather sparingly touched on for me.

Otherwise a great read.

Not Just a Trick Play was my first book by Ivy Hunt and let me tell you: it will most definitely not be the last!

In regards to well written sport romances, which I'm a total sucker for, NJATP checked all the boxes. Adorable yet absolutely sexy MMC? Cute feel good story? Fun side characters? Check! Check! Check! Of courses there are several more points which make this book into a must read for sport romance fans.

Although to be honest, I could've done without the whole third act breakup, which was absolutely unnecessary and avoidable. Ugh. I got so frustrated with Amelia. Like, could you just take a fricking minute, deep breaths and just think on what you'll do next?

Anyway. Go ahead and one click today. You'll not be disappointed!

This is book number 3 of the Wrong Place, Right Time series and focuses on Jake and Amelia. Amelia had her whole future mapped out until those well laid plans got blown up when her boyfriend showed up with a pregnant fiancee. After her plans fell apart, she decided it was time for a fresh start in New York City. What Amelia doesn't expect to find is Jake and to have her life turned around again, but in the best ways. I loved Jake and Amelia together and how they ended up together! This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

The wrong place and the right time make for a fun and quirky meet-cute for Amelia and Jake.

This was a light-hearted read with some serious moments and steam that was enjoyable. It's not an insta-attraction romance as there is a build up to it, they get to know each other with some forbidden trope added as they now work together.

Amelia leaves her life in the UK after finding out her boyfriend has a pregnant fiancee. When she arrives in NY at her Airbnb she finds Jake naked and handcuffed to the bed. She moves to a hotel after the Police and Jake leave and the next day she meets his sister Yvonne. Their HEA is full of angst, fear of lifts, witty banter between his mother and sisters. Highly recommended reading.

Who knew that having a dog pee on your shoe could change the trajectory of your life? Combine that with some fuzzy pink handcuffs and your entire life has now become your own.

The characters are well developed and make me want to show up for family time. Amelia and Jake are the best combination, and you laugh so hard. If you're reading in bed at night and your spouse is asleep, you will wake him up.
