Once upon a time...I fell for my brother's best friend.
I'm not proud of myself, okay? But these things happen when you're young and impressionable. The point is, I got over it. I moved on.
Except now Felix Caine is back—back with his easy smile and sparkling eyes, and he’s making me an offer I (literally) can’t refuse. He needs help with a romantic article he’s writing, and he won’t take no for an answer.
The more time I spend with him, the more I remember all the reasons I fell for him before. But he’s not just my brother’s flirtatious friend this time. He’s my friend, too. And though he says he’ll never fall in love, I sometimes see his gaze linger with more than just friendship.
There's a spark between us that wasn't there before. And I don’t want to have any regrets in this relationship. But what’s a girl to do when the only way to follow her heart…is to give it away?
Gracie lives in a tiny town in Idaho, where she subsists on a diet of chocolate, romance novels, and kisses from her cute family. She may or may not have a cheesecake addiction, as well as an addiction to scribbling story ideas on whatever flat surfaces happen to be nearby. Clean romance, romantic comedy, and mystery rom coms are her passion.
If you love a slow burn romance that makes you earn every little moment, settle in, book besties! This one is for you! This book is an absolute delight, balancing humor, heart, and swoon worthy romance in the best way. I especially loved watching India and Felix’s relationship shift. What started as a childhood crush, (Indy as the little sister admiring her brother’s best friend) turned into something so much deeper. Now as adults, they’re on equal footing, getting to know each other in a whole new way. There’s something so satisfying about watching two people truly see each other, breaking through the surface level impressions they’ve had for years.
The romance itself is just chef’s kiss, filled with cute, well paced moments that never feel forced. The dates? Absolutely adorable. The bookstore date? Easily my favorite (because obviously). But beyond the romance, the Marigold siblings’ dynamic added so much warmth to the story, especially the sisterly relationships. And Poppy? She was the perfect outside voice, offering insight and pushing our characters just when they needed it.
And can we talk about the home invasion scene? I was crying. OMG hilarious, unexpected, and just the right touch of chaos. The fallout from that moment is something I need to see unfold in the next book. But what really sealed the deal for me? Felix’s grand gesture at the end. That man took the fall in the most selfless, heart melting way, and I was absolutely done for.
Overall, this book is just pure feel-good romance at its finest. Sweet, funny, and brimming with heart, it’s the kind of story that leaves you smiling long after you’ve finished. I already need the next book — like yesterday!

Thank you to the author for a gifted copy. My thoughts are my own.
Oh my word, I adored this absolutely delightful book! Brother’s best friend, “not dates” at romantic spots (research purposes, people!), a touch of blackmail (lighthearted, of course 🤣), sweet sisters, a protective brother, hilarious situations, tons of banter, epic tension, and the stinking cutest HEA!
This story is an instant mood boost and I am totally grabbing the audio to enjoy it again soon. 😍 Do you like being happy? Grab this book! 😂
In all seriousness, I already love Indy’s entire family and I cannot wait for more!
This was a delight. Exactly what I want from cutesy, closed door/clean romcoms. Reminded me of Courtney Walsh or Melanie Jacobson. Looking forward to the series.
I have absolutely adored Gracie’s previous books and was so excited to get a chance to read an early copy of her latest… All’s Fair in Love and Blackmail… a first in a new series!
Felix is working for a local paper in Lucky, Colorado where is best friend lives. He is working on a Most Romantic Places in Lucky and needs a tour guide to capture and experience these swoon worthy places… he recruits India… his best friends younger sister, who at the moment is ok with the distraction and actually needs a favor in return. Felix has one rule… Not to fall in love with him. India laughs it off, she won’t make that mistake again.
I loved these characters… India is one of four siblings, two sisters and a brother. The sisters live together and have totally different personalities… and I’m very excited to see what is next for them 😉! I love a challenge/bucket list/task trope. And following Felix and India to the most romantic places as well as Indy’s bucket list was a fun adventure. I too LOVE carrot cake and highly related to Indy needing to learn to make her own 🥕The Pretty Page sounds like a bookstore I would love to visit and I wish you could have seen my face when the bookseller told Felix, Indy’s favorite trope 😮😂
At the end you get a sneak peak for what’s coming next in the series. I had my ideas and I’m really looking forward to it.
“Are you–Are you blackmailing me?” “That word has such a negative connotation. I prefer to think of it as being very persuasive.” If looks could kill, I would be six feet under right now. India Marigold would be dancing on my grave.
This brother’s best friend, opposites attract, slow burn romcom was the highlight of my week. And guess what?? It’s the start of a brand new series that I’m desperate to read ASAP. From the cute cover to the snappy dialogue, I was intrigued and entranced throughout the whole entire thing.
Gracie Ruth Mitchell has a way of creating quirky, dependable characters who are capable of all the zany zing that I love to savor, along with a hefty dose of charm and wit. Felix is the brother’s college best friend, who has the actual audacity to resort to blackmail. India is our likable, steady, and unreliable FMC, and when pressured into helping Felix with a project, shows just how amiable she is, even with her gruff social skills. And this family circle is EVERYTHING.
I couldn’t get enough of these two and their interactions on their quest to see the lover’s spots of their small town of Lucky, Colorado. I was dying over the bookstore, swooning over their texts, melting over every flirtation, and chanting “MORE” with every stolen thought.
From Betsy the motorcycle to Janis Joplin the fish, this story is perfect for everyone who wants a second chance.
Content: mild romance
*I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given*
All's Fair in Love and Blackmail was the perfect blend of heart and humor that really does it for me.
Read for: 💛The banter 🩷 The banter! 🩵 THE BANTER!!
India loves her small town life but something is missing. She makes a bucket list after she gets in a minor accident and one of the things is NOT her brother's best friend resorting to blackmailing her for help on an upcoming article. She reluctantly agreed to show him hidden gems for finding Love in Lucky but refuses to fall for Felix... Again. This book is a joy to read. It's funny and full of characters and there's this one scene that had me beyond amused that can only carry on into the next book. I cannot recommend it enough if you need something light and bright to escape reality. Thank you to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
I absolutely loved these two sunshine characters! India and Felix were just plain fun.
Felix needs a native of Lucky, Colorado, to help him with an article for the newspaper. India could do it...but after having (unrequited) feelings for Felix when they were a few years younger, she's hesitant to help. Felix ends up blackmailing India to get her compliance. As they spend time together, he admits that he would never actually tell a soul about her embarrassing moment, but India still wants to spend time with him.
It was a hoot to be inside each of their heads. They were a bit resistant to their developing feelings but it was done in a way that didn't make you want to bang your head against the wall; it actually made me laugh to see the ways both of them were trying to convince themselves that nothing was going on.
Also, GRM made me love the Marigold siblings! I am so looking forward to the rest of their stories!
Favorite Quotes:
😏"And why are you smiling like that?" she goes on, unfolding her arms and pointing at my face. "Is your mouth stuck?" "I'm smiling to counteract all the negativity coming from your general direction"— I could swear her lips twitch at this, which I count as a win—"and to make myself seem more likable and harmless so that you'll hear me out."
😆Something about the look takes her usual cuteness and adds a bit of heat. Lots of men might be attracted to the sight she presents this evening. Not me, obviously. But other men.
📚 "You could be buying drugs," I go on. "I wouldn't stress about buying more books." "When you say things like that, your attractiveness level goes up at least three notches," she says matter-of-factly, and I grin.
❤️"Love is when you don't try to change each other, but you both end up changing anyway, because that's what you inspire in each other. They accept you for exactly who you are, but that acceptance makes you want to be better, and you change. You become better."
‼️Life is too short to eat your favorite dessert only on your birthday or on special occasions. I am a special occasion. We all are. Our days should be as joyful as we can make them-and sometimes that means baking cake on a random weekend in August.
☀️ I'm supposed to be a Darcy girl. Dark and handsome and stoic, that's my type. There's no place in my life for this giant ball of sunshine with golden hair and sparkling eyes and an easy, flirtatious smile. Nope. No way. Not even if he feeds me all the carrot cake in the world.
✨Hope is such a stupid thing, isn't it? Such a stupid, beautiful thing. Hope makes us jump out of our nests. And even when we fall flat on our faces, that same hope is potent enough to convince us to try again. What is that, if not sheer magic?

-I give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
~Once upon a time...I fell for my brother’s best friend. The point is, I got over it. I moved on. Except now Felix Caine is back…
“I like you.”
-ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND BLACKMAIL, is such a delightful lighthearted Brother’s Best Friend rom-com. It is wonderfully filled with pure sunshine and goodness. I simply adored the dear characters within, who were just certain that they wouldn’t fall in love with each other. Haha. Jokes on them. But seriously, watching them figure out the twists and turns life threw their way, and coming to realize what they both wanted deep down when it comes to matters of with life and love was so lovely. The support system of loyal and devoted family members and friends, who in their own colorful way, made a difference, and had me shaking my head to giggling, to sighing all along the way. This is a cute story that shows the importance of finding something of dear value and holding onto it with dear hope. This my friends, is a delightful story worth the fun read!🙌🏻📚☀️
“The point is, I’m not holding you hostage. I’m just motivating you to work with me, that’s all.”
•Content: kisses only, mild innuendo. no swearing, some trauma from motorcycle accident resurfaces a few times, act of self-defense with a pan in the kitchen.
“I think the best things are sometimes hidden. They won’t force themselves on you. You have to look to find them.”

“With India, I think I’d like to go through the ups and downs with her. Rough waters and still waters and rain and sun.”
Years ago India had a big crush on her brother's best friend, but she’s over him now. Felix is back in town, as fun and flirty as ever. He works for the local paper, and asks India for help with a romantic article he needs to write, and uses a bit of blackmail to get her to agree to help him.
This shouldn’t be a problem, but the more time she spends with him, the more she remembers all the reasons she fell for him. Should she continue to protect her heart, or take a chance and give it away?
Felix and India are just so cute, and this story was such a pleasure to read!
There’s so much to love about it— fantastic banter, lots of flirting, her patronus 😊, wonderful sibling dynamics, nicknames that make you smile, and just a genuinely funny and sweet story.
You can expect— 🛵 Brother's Best Friend 🗞️ Opposites Attract 🛵 Slow Burn 🗞️ Pride & Prejudice References 🛵 Golden Retriever MMC 🗞️ Grand gesture
This is my first book by this author, and I loved it so much that now I need to read everything else she’s written.
Do yourself a favor and check out this lovely, feel-good story!
I received a complementary copy but a positive review was not required.
After reading and loving this author's two latest books, I knew I had to snag this one as a mini birthday gift to myself. ;)
It was cute, y'all. I loved the authentic sisterly moments, their absolute grump of a brother (can we get his book next?!), and the motorcycle and small-town vibes were fun. I also loved the journalism elements.
Unfortunately, I never quite believed Felix and India were meant to be, but I enjoyed them nonetheless, and the character growth was... chef's kiss.
I loved this book. I love the family. I love the nicknames. I’m completely enthralled. I can’t wait to read Juliette’s book. Rating: G/PG, clean family friendly, lovable characters
Really cute! I wish there were a little more angst and tension or chaos (I LOVE her chaotic stories). All in all, this was enjoyable and I loved the sisterhood dynamic.
GRM’s books are always delightfully filled with good banter. I loved the back and forth between Felix and Indy. It’s charming and has a 2000’s romcom vibe that I can get behind.
I thought the plot was simple and effective. I loved seeing all of the little romantic places around Lucky and how Felix and India were out of their depth trying to fight feelings for each other. The little sweet moments they had to connect were swoony.
Sometimes the side characters took over the story a bit (aka her sisters) and I wish there had been more swoon, but those are minor things in an otherwise lovely book.
I adore being in GRM’s plots and schemes. And this made me smile and brought some joy into my week. Felix’s charming, flirtatious ways were my favorite and I loved seeing India get back on her motorcycle and go after the things she wanted in life. The themes woven in were exactly what this story needed.
🎈Release Date: March 21, 2025 🎈 . . . Gracie Ruth Mitchell never disappoints with her books, so I was absolutely ecstatic to have been chosen to be on her arc team for this book! Let me tell you, this story is filled with hilarity and absolutely dripping in charm and sarcasm 🤭 It was so fun to be back in Lucky, CO again with India after having met her in Five Stolen Rings!
Felix Caine was charm personified, the biggest flirt, and the most attractive guy around, so it’s no surprise that women were all over him. Well, except for India that is; she couldn’t care less about him since he’d already broken her heart once before. So when Felix finds himself in need of a partner in seeking out all of Lucky’s most romantic spots for an article in the Gazette, he comes knocking on India’s door intent on blackmailing her into helping him because he needs someone who won’t end up falling for him. But oh, how the tables turned 😏
I’m don’t always love the brother’s best friend trope, but let me tell you, this book was superb!! I was absolutely eating up all of the banter and sarcastic comments hurled back and forth between Felix & India. His open admiration of her beauty had me in a puddle 🫠 He was so certain that he wouldn’t fall for her, but he also wasn’t expecting her to be the literal woman of his dreams! These two were positively sublime together 😍 I loved watching Felix fall more and more madly in love with his best friend’s sister. She was the Sunshine to his Felicia and oh, did it ever make for a good story!
I adored the Marigold family! Cyrus was your typical older brother and I love how you could instantly tell that Aurora was the oldest sister and Juliet was the baby of the family because their personalities made it very apparent. Their family dynamic was so much fun and I hope we get more stories about them soon 🤞🏻 . . . Thank you so much, Gracie, for allowing me to read an arc of your new book 💛
Did I binge read this new book! Why, yes, yes, I did! I was hooked from the start and just couldn’t put it down! India and Felix were beyond adorable!
India has been over her old crush on her brother’s best friend, Felix for years! Now, he’s back living in Lucky and asking her for help on story he needs to write. Spending time with, even if he did blackmail her, shouldn’t be a problem. No problem at all….
Ahhh!! I loved these two so much! Their nicknames for each other (Felix = Felicia and India = Sunshine) made me laugh every time they used them! Felix’s giant ego and shameless flirting also endeared me to him and clearly it didn’t hurt India’s opinion either!
I loved the sibling relationships, the banter, the brother’s best friend trope, the bucket list, Betsy & Joplin, the shameless flirting, the character growth, Felix’s grand gesture, and watching this relationship grow from friends to more!
This was a cute little romance! I will definitely continue reading the series, I hope book two is about Poppy and Cyrus.
I wish the book was longer to give us more time with the characters but overall I feel like it was a good pace and we got to meet many different characters and see their personalities. Great hints at future books too as this is the first in the series.
This is a slow burn and I think a little too slow burn for me but it had its cute moments. I did like the banter between India and Felix and the brother’s best friend tension. I think it will be interesting to see where the rest of the stories go for the other Marigold siblings.
this book was cute. I enjoyed the falling for your brother's best friend trope, and I laughed out loud at one of the Pride and Prejudice references to the 2005 movie. I love a good P&P reference, and there are plenty here.
Love love love this book! This got me out of my reading slump and I’m so glad I picked it up. I love the characters and the slow burn and I can’t wait to pick up the next one! This book is very clean but the banter and dual POVS are so good!!
Granted, most of my experience with newspapers comes from being in journalism in high school, but I'm pretty sure they don't work like they do in this book. I'd prefer for my suspension of disbelief in romance not have to extend to characters' normal careers.
It was actually so good I read it in a day 🤭 Their banter was so cute and entertaining, and the fact that there was so miscommunication trope or third act breakup was most wonderful. The pacing was also really great, overall a splendid read if I do say so myself
