How can I love what I tried to escape? For six years I've run from the Orlov bratva. I don’t need to see the ink under Roman's shirt, Or touch the gun under his jacket, To know he has bratva written all over every muscled inch of his body. . And now he wants me in his home. Not to mention in his bed. On paper, Roman Stevanovsky is a billionaire CEO. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a killer in practice.
Which is probably why I can't take my eyes off him.
I might have left behind my real name, And the Petrovsky fortune; But it seems that my libido Remains stubbornly hardwired to Russian bad boy.
I need the kind of power Roman wields. Hellfire, to regain what was stolen from my family. But I’m as close to possessing either power or hellfire As I am to making my crazy fantasies about Roman himself come true.
ROMAN
Lucia is hiding something. You can’t fake that kind of fear. The fear of being hunted By death itself.
I know how it feels to have no choice but run. To guard secrets that aren’t mine to tell. To live with a revenge That I can never take.
I told myself I wouldn't get involved In whatever storm is chasing Lucia. I only meant to give her a chance, The means to outrun it.
But now she's in my home. Her body in my bed Her heart stealing mine. Lucia's life belongs to me, even if her secrets are hers alone.
So if the storm decides to come for her? Well—I protect what is mine. And I’m no storm. I’m the f***ing apocalypse.
*Lethal Legacy is book one in the Lethal Legacy series. Roman and Lucia's story concludes in book two, Lethal Alliance. The duet has no cheating, enough heat to sear the bedsheets, and a guaranteed HEA.
Lethal Legacy is primarily a love story, set in the high stakes, dangerous, and luxurious international world of Russian mafia. It is less dark than some in the genre, but does have some scenes depicting violence.
Forced proximity, alpha male; 'touch her and you die' vibes, runaway heroine, family secrets, found family., saucy contract.
I live in Broome, a tiny tropical beach town in the far north of Western Australia. It's my favorite place in the world, and a beautiful place to dream up stories. I also work week on, week off in mining, operating drill rigs out in the Pilbara. I absolutely love my job, and the banter of the boys on my team often creeps into my books! I've loved mafia romance since I was a teenager, so writing it has felt really natural. I also write historical fiction and travel memoir under the name Paula Constant, as well as fantasy/paranormal romance under the name Lucy Holden.
WOW!!!!! What an intriguing story!!! 😱🤩 (which may or may not work for you. That simple.)
Yes, it had issues. It was lengthy and the emotional development between the mcs was rashly executed. The I-love-yous came very early. Also, their lack or denial of communication required nerves of steel.
BUT!!!!! I was fully immersed in Lucia and Ramon’s story!!!! (hence my high rating) Resolute and strong personalities, passionate, driven and motivated.
The plot was multidimensional, intense, intricate and gripping. There were sexual encounters, but they were not to the detriment of the plot. The story was very well written and orchestrated, with a fast pace.
The secrets the mcs were hiding, kept me on my toes!
The supporting characters, although numerous, had significant roles. They appeared gradually without tiring or distracting me and kept my interest.
I am more than ready to start the next part - after that cliffhanger - and I really 🙏 hope not to be disappointed! 📖🏃🏻♀️
Wow!!!! Paula walshe smashed it out the park with this book. I received this book as an ARC and it's my first read by this author. It will not be my last!
I devoured this book in one day..what a roller coaster. If you like your book boyfriends with a side of touch her and die, filthy mouth and big 🍆 energy then Roman is the man for you.🔥
This book had EVERYTHING—nanny romance, mafia tension, a no-strings-attached contract, and an exclusive free-use agreement that escalates in the best way. Add in a hero who will literally kill anyone who so much as looks at her wrong, and I was hooked.
The smut? Immaculately written. Meaningful, intense, and that first time? Absolutely breathtaking. “The world disappears, taking with it the ever-present tension and worry. The stress slides away, as does my past, and all the darkness.” You feel every emotion in that moment.
The dual POV gives such deep insight into their feelings—pining, miscommunication, and angst done so well that it’s frustrating in the best way. You feel every ounce of their struggle and longing. And the way the story calls back to key moments—like the charity ball—keeps the suspense and tension constantly building.
Also, let’s talk about the soundproofing—because wow, that man has skills.
The ending?? Absolute perfection. Past and present colliding in a way that leaves you breathless. I need more ASAP.
Paula… what have you done to me???!! I love this book. Luce & Roman are so magnetic and both so broken in different but parallel ways. Watching both of their relationships develop with the children is so heartwarming. This story sucked me in and I didn’t want to put it down. The ending though gave me anxiety and left me in tears begging for the next book. I really hope they can all make their way together again.
A big thank you to Books Go Social, Netgalley, and Paula Walshe for giving me this ARC in return for my honest review!
For a spicy Mafia romance, this book was surprisingly well written and has an intriguing plot! We start with Lucia who is secretly on the run from the Orlov Russian mafia family. She is working in a coffee shop in Spain where she meets Roman, the head of the Stevanovsky mafia family. She's hoping his influence keeps the other Russians off her doorstep while he's hoping she'll become au pair to his adopted children while secretly visiting his bed at night. They both have secrets and hidden pasts but are quickly falling in love.
This book was fun to read and it ends on such a glorious cliffhanger that I can't wait to pick up book 2. The only real thing that bothered me was the five-year-old character because she acts and speaks like a three-year-old. Not sure if she's supposed to be behind in some way that's not mentioned or if the author just doesn't know any five year olds.
Overall, I really enjoyed this read and would recommend it. I gave it a solid 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.
There is a lot of spice in this book, I would probably rate it 4 on a spice scale.
This man!! He will protect what’s his at all coast! They way he wouldn’t let anything happen to the kids and her! He can be the biggest jerk to everyone else but the people closest to him! There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for them. And the spice in this book!!!! YES PLEASE!! Omg I loved every second of this book!!!!
Paula… what have you done to me??? 4.5 stars!!
Well I’ve already downloaded the next book. Loved this book had it all. Intrigue, passion, bromance, brooding bratva CEO what more could I ask for. I just loved the dynamics and the layers to the story. Not just a romance. This had a bit more depth to it. Looking forward to the next one.
I’m enamored with this amazing author. Best story I’ve read in quite a while. Can’t wait to read more of her work. You will not be disappointed.. Highly recommend ❣️
This Russian bratva story is so good and well written. It is the first book I have read by this author after being asked for arc readers. I definitely cannot wait for book 2. This is a slow burn, forced proximity, contracted sex story. Roman needs a nanny, Lucia needs money fast so she can carry on protecting her elderly wheelchair bound father and carry on hiding from the Orlov who are holding her brother Alexie prisoner.
What has happened to their house, bank accounts etc and what is in the vault that's so important it's worth killing everyone for? We only know that they are running not only to stay alive but to keep it closed and secret. A locked box with saved money, fake passports and other papers were stolen but not her mum's $ million earrings. So where were they hiding whilst Lucia was at work in the barista? I don't get the relationship between the Orlov and Alexie. He's on a yacht sailing around in luxury but also been tortured and held prisoner by the same people. The dialogue between the MMC and his godchildren is endearing, the relationship between the MMC and MFC is not. It's a contract so he's treating her like a prostitute even though he's falling for her and she's working as his nanny to his 3 god children. The way that Lucia got them to like her and accept her as a friend not just as yet another nanny was good. Roman doesn't have relationships with women though, instead he treats them like women do expensive handbags. Used only when needed and always looking good.
I really hope he gets his HEA with Lucia and does actually get to sit in the kitchen eating home made cookies with her pregnant and surrounded by children. Adopting his godchildren I can see happening. Masha needs them to be her parents and a pet!
They really need to sit down and have a truthful conversation and not saying half of it and the other one assuming they know the rest!

It’s the story of Darya Petrovsky aka Lucia Lopez, running away from the Orlov Bratva in Miami, with her father bc the Orlov wanted something in their vault. No one knows what’s in it but the Orlov are ready to kill for it. She went hiding in Spain as a barrister. That’s when she met Roman Stevanosky, the CEO of Hale and Pakhan to the Stevanosky family. They are playing a game of cat and mouse for 6 months, and after his nanny left without any explanation, he decided to ask her to be the one to replace her. She accepted! Will he find out who she really is? Will the Orlov find her and will Roman protect her? This is the first book I read from this author and I’m so happy I find her! For once, there is a real backbone story, not just an excuse to be dark mafia romance. It’s a slow burn, spicy and steamy! It’s so well written and I was hooked after the few first chapters. It’s easy to read and so captivating! It’s not as dark as some I read before but that didn’t bother me at all. I read it in one sitting! I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to see what’s next for the series🥰
This was everything. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time - guessing and attempting to piece together the stories and characters. I was thrilled to receive an ARC. I read a lot of books and this one stands out as one of those that will live rent-free in my head for a long time - easily one of the best books I've read in a long time.
I loved the twists and turns, the emotional struggle, the way Paula makes you fall in love with her characters, the sweet children, the next-level spice. All of it.
Of course I had to sit and finish this in nearly one sitting...and of course it's the middle of the night and I'm desperate for more of this story and more of these characters. And of course I'll most likely sleep through my alarm in the morning after having stayed up too late reading. Worth it. 100% worth it. 5 🌟
How DARE it end like that. I’m downloading the second book right now. This was a great and spicy read. REALLY spicy. I loved Darya and Roman together. And then with the kids! Such a happy little family. How this book ended on a cliffhanger. Oooooo. Biggest pet peeve, but now I’m excited for the next one!
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It made me laugh, cry, fall in love, and it broke my heart. I am forever wrecked from this read in the best way.
I want to preface by saying that this is a series and it does leave off on a cliffhanger, but please don’t let that detour you. I truly think this is a story worth investing your time in if you are someone who is into smutty mafia romance.
The storyline is everything I didn’t know I needed in a mafia romance. It was so well planned and executed, I was honestly in awe with the authors brain power to be able to accomplish such an amazing feat. But it’s not just well written. The depths of this story is honestly unmatched. I truly spent a lot of time trying to wrap my head around how a human being could possibly write a story with so many layers and keep everything so organized. I personally didn’t notice any plot holes and I was actually looking for them because surely there was no way something wouldn’t be missed with the amount of detail in this book. I was wrong and Paula Walsh’s is some sort of literary wizard.
On top of the story line being impressive, the character development is unmatched. There are quite a few characters in this book and the author pulled it off effortlessly. It’s very easy to get confused when reading a story with multiple people in it, but that was definitely not the case here. Every single person had so much personality that it was easy to distinguish who was who. Even the lizard in the garden seemed to jump off my kindle screen. I mean honestly, what person can make a simple garden lizard come to life through words? A damn good author, that’s who.
Even though all of the characters deserved to be raved about, I specifically want to talk about Roman. When we meet him, he is cold and distant. The way Lucia helps him open his heart especially towards his godchildren….. my heart can’t possibly swell any more. It was so beautiful to witness the children thawing this man out and taking part in his journey from becoming guardian to father. Daddy Roman seriously has my heart.
As if the general story wasn’t enough, we are given incredible backstories to our characters that really bring them to life and makes them more relatable. I’m not saying I know anything about the mafia life, but I can definitely understand what it’s like to have a difficult childhood and having to shape your adult life accordingly.
I will say, the miscommunications between our couple could be frustrating at times but I definitely understood where both of them were coming from. Despite the trust they have for one another, both have secrets that they can’t share. There was definitely times where I wanted to yell at these two to get it together and talk it out, but I also know why they couldn’t. In short, I’m mad but I’m not mad at it lol. As annoying as miscommunications can be, these weren’t pointless and only added to the depths of my affections for the characters and this story.
The spice in this book is honestly *chefs kiss*. There is a ton of spicy scenes that will have your toes curling. I will say, it’s not necessarily kinky so no whips and chains here. It’s just well written and often which I am totally here for. If you are someone who doesn’t do a lot of spice, I would definitely avoid this read.
Now the ending… like it said earlier, huge cliffhanger. Even though I was gasping at the last page, I’m not even upset. Thankfully the next book is already available but I don’t think I am able to pick it up right away. I desperately need a moment to breathe and process everything. I will say, even though the story is far from over, I am satisfied with the ending of book one in the series. I think it was the perfect stopping point for the next installment but it also leaves the reader dying for more. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store.
Overall, I’m in complete awe of Paula Walshe and this book. Somebody give this author an award!
I recommend to anyone looking for a mafia romance with all the spice and all the feels. Especially if you are looking for a very intricate and captivating story. Don’t hesitate and read this book.
I really liked this story. I was constantly reading for far longer than I had time for because I just always wanted to know what would happen next or I was wanting to know how something was going to happen. At least until about 60-70%. This book was just too long to hold my attention past that. Yes, I still enjoyed it, but I was also really bored with it and just wanted to get to the end. Part of the problem was that these two had so many secrets that they wouldn't tell each other so they both were making assumptions about everything and eventually when that's all a book ends up being, it just starts annoying the crap out of me. Like here. So by the time we get to the cliff hanger ending, I just don't feel like reading the next book at all. Do I want to know what happens? Definitely. Just not at the expense of all the time it would take to read it.
Lucia and her father have been on the run for years after their Bratva family was violently overthrown. Her father is not in good health, having not only endured torture at the hands of their enemies, but also numerous strokes. So Lucia does whatever she has to do in order to keep them safe and keep her father cared for. She ends up working in a cafe for a sleazy boss, but he hires illegals like her with no questions. It's while working there that she meets Roman. Big time CEO of his own company across the street and she also knows another Bratva member when she sees one. Their attraction is immediate and they have been flirting since day one trying to one up the other.
Roman has been working hard to build the inheritance for his godchildren that he has legal custody of since their father died. He doesn't want them involved with the violent world that got their father killed so he's had as little involvement in their lives as possible. But when their most recent nanny quits he finds himself with a dilemma and an opportunity. He uncharacteristically finds himself wanting to take of and protect Lucia because he knows she's running from someone, so he decides to sign her on as an employee. During the day she will care for the children, and night will serve at his beck and call.
It's a contract with a time limit and Roman has made it abundantly clear no strings or feelings, but Lucia already knows she's too attached to him. But the pros outweigh the cons for her. Bratva protection for her and her father, amazing pay, and most importantly, constant and great care/rehab for her father. Despite telling herself that after the contract is up, they will be able to move again, only days after meeting the children Lucia can't imagine leaving them. As more time passes and she sees more sides to Roman with the kids and with her, she can't help but think just maybe she can find a little happiness. That is until Roman finds out who she really is. Granted, he's not as angry about it as she was expecting, but from there things between them get more complicated. Especially when he starts to learn what her brother has been up to.
It's really about this point that the story started losing me. Despite the fact that a lot more is going on now both within Roman's company and out, there was too much assumption making going on and I just wanted these two to finally talk about all the crap that was happening. But no. Heaven forbid main characters ever do that. Despite both of them repeatedly saying that they would have a discussion, they never did because something would always come up.
The ending would have been good except, yet again, Lucia can't fucking speak up so Roman makes another assumption and sends her running again. Honestly, it just kind of pissed me off at this point. Like I said, I definitely do want to know how things end with these two, but I also don't want to put in the effort to actually find out by reading the next book.
In Lethal Legacy, Lucia has been running from the Orlovs, a very powerful bratva. She’s been hiding for six years. Lucia isn’t even her real name. She’s become a new person with a low wage job even though her family fortune is back home. During her time in hiding she meets Roman, a billionaire who might be just as dangerous as the Orlovs.
Roman has his own secrets and a past he’s running from also. He’s the CEO of a very popular company but he’s also on a path for revenge. When he finds out who Lucia is he decides to protect her no matter what it takes. What price will Roman pay to protect Lucia when the Orlovs finally find her? What will it cost him and will he regret it???
Paula Walshe had me on the edge of my seat with this book. I cried and laughed. I loved the banter between Lucia and Roman. Their chemistry is off the charts. The minute they met is an instant attraction. You can see it throughout the book just how hot they are for each other. That cliffhanger at the end though left me screaming. I’m ready for the next one.
Dark mafia romance where the fmc Lucia is on the run with her father where she ends up meeting Roman while working at a cafe in Malaga.
There is so many twists and turns throughout this book as more information about the main characters gets revealed! It is gut wrenching seeing how they interact with each other but aren’t open and honest about who they are or what they’ve been through.
It had nanny romance, mafia tension, no strings attached relationship, pining for each other, explosive chemistry! This book was spectacularly written in a dual pov which helped with understanding both sides of the relationship.
This book had equal parts plot and spice! I’m so excited to find out what happens to the couple after the ending of this book!
Lethal Legacy is the first part of a dark Bratva romance series that is full of intrigue and drama. From the very beginning I could not put it down! This book has everything you could want in a dark romance. An Alpha male super protective MMC, a strong but still soft FMC, a sexy contract, AND a nanny trope!? Sign me up! The plot was fast paced, full of twists and turns, and kept me on the edge of my seat. The character development was outstanding, the banter was witty, and even the peripheral characters have you hoping they get their own stories. The kids were even well developed and lovable. Truly one of the best mafia romances I have ever read and that is saying something!
This book was provided to me as an ARC but all opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book!
Thank you Net Galley for this ARC! I loved Lucia and Roman's story as both of these characters are strong and tough, yet broken with lots of secrets setting the stakes high for everyone. I especially loved seeing Lucia and Roman bond, interact, and be protective over Roman's godchildren. They gave the story lots of heart and had you rooting for them all to be one big happy family. The story is fast paced and filled with lots of great banter and spice. I would definitely recommend this book to people who love a good mafia romance filled with emotional grit. Just be prepared as you will want to pick up the next book right away. :)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
A thrilling, steamy, and suspenseful ride that will leave you wanting more!
This was a great dark bratva romance !!! My first novel by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised.. I’m obsessed with this universe and I need MORE !!!!!!!!!!!⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5 Lucia finds herself in a situation where she needs to make quick money to help care for her father while hiding from the Orlov bratva !!! In comes Roman who finds himself in need of a nanny for his 3 godchildren . He comes up w a plan to contract her as both a nanny and a lover ! Personally he treats her like that’s all she is good for at times . Breaks my heart ❤️ but he does end up falling for her … heart and spirit … I hope they end up getting their HEA and I absolutely cannot wait for book 2 ;)
This book kept me hooked from the start. I loved that it was written with both main characters perspectives. To me that always gives so much more tension when you can see the thoughts and feeling from both sides. There was a bunch of spice, but it didn’t feel overdone. Personally I loved it mixed in with the rest of the story. I did love the characters so much, the kids and Roman and Lucia. I hope that we get even more of Dimitri and Abby in the next book, and I am excited to read the next book to find out what happens!
This is my first read by this author but won’t be my last, in fact I’m off to download book two of this series from Amazon Kindle Unlimited as I need to know how it the story concludes!
I love the way it was written, well crafted characters and storyline… Bratva Mafia Story done right!
I received this first book as an ARC for an honest review and I’m happy to say I would definitely recommend!!!
I would give this book more than five stars if I could. I could not put this book down until I finished and was left with one of the most intense cliffhanger I have read. You will be so invested in these characters and the story that you will devour this book. I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
