Self-Publishing: My Rules to Staying Alive and Making Money

Rate this book
As a bestselling author of many genres and a publisher, I have made every mistake that a person can squeeze into two short years. And through it all, I have managed to be in the top twenty authors in the world—overall, not genre based. I have managed to have two books sit at number five overall in North American sales for weeks. I have sold 15,000 copies a week with several new releases. I have been in the top fifty indies for six months straight.
I have done all of this on my own, with the help of friends and bloggers but without a publishing house or anyone in my specific corner.
But I have still made every mistake imaginable. The ones I have skipped over or accidentally missed are soon to occur, I am certain. I do everything the hard way.
Let me show you the things I might have done better.
Let me explain the things bestselling novelists despise in new authors, so you don't make the mistake of rubbing seasoned authors the wrong way.
Let me take you on a guided tour of my mess-ups from the last two years.
I really hope this helps you on your journey to becoming a bestseller. I also hope that you bring more readers to the table as a result of this booklet. We are not competing in the author world. We are supporting. For every new reader brought into the literary world for a love of books, means more readers for us all.
Thank you for reading this and I truly hope it helps!

I only picked this one up because it was available on my kindle unlimited subscription, I don't usually read any non fiction but I'm so glad I made an exception for this, it was fascinating.
I'm just a reader, but I read probably 5, 6,7 or even more books a week, I follow lots of indie authors on social media and I'm a slave to goodreads. I see the book world from a reader's point of view; this guide offered me a candid and forthright insight into the book world from an author's perspective.
It's short, engaging and easy to read. I should imagine for someone just starting out it's a valuable resource, 'don't do what I did, try this instead' type advice. Even though that's not me, I still found it fascinating.
Good job

I've been reading a lot of books about self-publishing lately. While short, this one is very to the point and conversational, which I appreciated. It was as if the author was sitting across from me at lunch spewing some general dos and don'ts. It was things we authors have read/heard multiple times, but somehow everything made more sense and hit home after reading this book.

Thank you for reminding us of what we should be doing and bringing a few items to our attention. I found the little bits of advice in this more helpful than the last two books I read on marketing and writing. I need to make a sign to hang near my desk so I don't slip and forget some of what you said.

Thank you for sharing,
Winter
