Adelaide Sway knows how to survive. Escaping a life of crime was supposed to be her chance at freedom, but instead, she’s found herself in a new kind of entanglement—one where outlaws feel like home. Working at the Silver Stag Gentlemen’s Club, she dances under the neon haze to fund her escape, determined to leave her secrets and everyone she’s ever cared for behind. Except for the Hope she holds on to.
But the past doesn’t let go so easily. Nightmares keep her tethered to the man she fears most. Some days, it’s easier to feel nothing than to feel too much. Other days, even the emptiness is unbearable. And today? Today is one of those days where the weight of it all threatens to break her. Trust isn’t an option, and love is out of the question.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC! It reminded me a lot of Sons of Anarchy so if you’re a big fan of that show I think you will enjoy the plot and setting of this book. This is an age gap dark romance with lots of twists and turns along the way! There is definitely heavy subject matter in this story so please check your triggers. The only thing that pulled me out of the story was the writing style in some parts. The language felt a little young and choppy in some areas but still an amazing job done overall. I feel like this authors writing will just get better and better with each book! I can’t wait to read the next two books in this interconnected series!
I am in absolute awe 🫢 this book was incredible from start to finish! Not a moment where I felt anything could be left out or changed. Kasey had me in a chokehold for the entirety of this book which I devoured in a day and a half and put life on hold until it was finished. I am wrecked. The way I cried in the last 30% where all hell broke loose and everything was revealed, I’m gonna need a moment to recover. Sway is so beautifully written but in a way that’s real and raw.
The MFC Addie, had a horrible and traumatic past and this story is of growth and healing and just trying to survive when the odds are stacked against her. This girl is strong and fierce and has a quick and bitchy tongue that had me laughing constantly. The friendships she has with the girls she works with was so interesting in the way that she held them at arms length but in the end they were all there for each other in every way that mattered. Jed is probably one of my favourite characters and I was holding my breath that he got through all of it in one piece. Darius *swoon* was instantly a good man in my eyes. I knew something was off but I trusted him and couldn’t wait to see if he turned out to be the man I hoped he was.
There are so many secondary characters in this book that really helped to make this work so well. Really they were the found family that we all wish for when we’ve had struggles with our own family.
The chemistry of Addie and Darius was incredibly delicious and the spice was so burning hot that I needed a few drink breaks 😅 the perfect levels of kink to make the temperature raise significantly!
I wanted to note that the way Kasey wrote about this level of trauma survived by Addie and to detail her struggles with anxiety was so incredibly well done! I could feel her panic attacks, i understand them on a deep level and this was portrayed perfectly. Thank you to Kasey for doing this justice, for writing about this trauma in the way that she did. Also I’m so happy to see the way sex work was written about and normalised. It wasn’t made to sound tacky or depraved. This was a job to the girls who did this work for themselves and I was happy to see the empowerment it provided for them.
I don’t want to give things away so I’ve been careful not to go into storyline detail but the ending honestly had me bawling 😭 my son busted me quietly sobbing and wanted to make sure I was ok and I explained it was happy tears and that I know it’s just a book but I was completely involved and the way the story ended just gave me all the feels 🥰
Thank you Kasey for the awesome playlist! I listened on repeat throughout and in some spots through reading, the song you mentioned in the book was playing at that precise moment, was uncanny! I cannot wait til the next book and I now must read your other work!
I had the amazing chance to receive this novel as an ARC, and I loved every amazing second of it!
From the first few pages, the story piques your interest. It makes you curious, and it draws you in until you are being swpet away into the ocean of Sway!
Take the chance to dive in and follow the tragic and dangerous story of Adelaide Sway, a young high school girl just trying to get her life together and find a better future, working her arse off to do just that.
Darious, the dark, broody, and devious man come to take a job that will try to help Adelaide get a future, all the while trying to do the right thing and stay away, not touch the beautiful young woman under his charge.
Dark, dangerous, heartbreaking, and heartwarming. Be sure to have a knife, whiel you cut through all the sexual tention, emotional turmoil, and dark intentions!
Be sure to check the trigger warnings as it could potentially affect you and your mental state. If they don't affect you, continue, read at your own risk, and please do enjoy this creation!
I was blessed to be able to read this as an arc reader and Kasey was absolutely amazing resending it to me after I couldn't find it in my email and helping me when I couldn't get it to show up on my kindle...
But anyway into the review, the way this book pulled me in and kept me going with the late night new baby feeds it was perfect, I love how the characters captured you and pulled you into their story, from the storyline to the spicy scenes, everything about this book was fantastic and an amazing read.
Such a good read!! As someone who reads and usually sees the end from the beginning there were a few things that surprised me and it made the book even more exciting. If you like a spicy read pick this up immediately!! If you think you’re vanilla, the story line will hold you until you realise your not quite as vanilla as you thought!
I had the amazing opportunity of reading and ARC of this book. I loved the storyline! It’s different to anything i’ve read before and had some surprises at the end I didn’t see coming! The spice was also A+++ 🔥
I read this as an ARC, my first 1! And what a place to start. I loved the characters and how they intertwined with each other. I did feel at times where are we going, but all in all a fab story! Cannot wait for Cherry's story!
THANK YOU to the incredible Kasey for letting me ARC this glorious, spicy, tattooed, trauma-healing surprise of a book bless ya dark loving soul, because I’m about to scream about it from the rooftops like a girl who just spotted her fave fictional daddy in real life.
Let’s begin with the delicious tropes buffet we were fed: ✅ Age Gap ✅ Organized Crime Romance ✅ Found Family (the dysfunctional kind we live for) ✅ Damaged Heroine / Healing Journey ✅ Forced Proximity ✅ Secret Identity ✅ Possessive MMC with a few kinks that could ruin your life (in the best way)
Adelaide is out here trying to escape the Crime Life I guess and instead lands herself shakin’ it like a goddess at the Silver Stag Gentleman’s Club—honestly, Queen Behavior. But her trauma? Still lap dancing on her sanity. Nightmares? Still RSVP’ing to her frequently And THEN—cue the slow-mo entrance daddy darius from the MC NY chapter walks in all older, hotter, broody with inked muscles and a mouth full of banter and bite. Screams in age-gap smut appreciation… we love daddy Darius
THE BANTER? CHEF’S KISS. The way they clash, flirt, and absolutely simmer had me laughing when they text eachother and side-eyeing my Kindle like “we’re really doing this, huh??”
BUT. Let’s be honest. The first 60%? Bit of a slow burn slog. I was confused, not just emotionally, but alphabetically—too many damn J names: Jed, Jack, Jerry. I was ready to hold a mafia meeting to demand a name change. Also I was like, how is this girl 19 and still in high school? Plot twist: THE LAST CHAPTER EXPLAINED IT AND IT MADE SENSE. Kasey, you sneaky legend. Just mild frustration for 99% of the book!
Now the LAST 40%??? ABSOLUTE BOOK CRACK. My Kindle may never recover from the grip I had on it. Tension. Emotion. Violence. Truth bombs. SMUT. Twists. Revelations! It was a cinematic ride in my brain and I didn’t want to get off (Darius pun absolutely intended).
And let’s take a moment to shout out Jed—yes, I’m shocked too. But this bisexual, high-energy, motorbike-riding chaos goblin ended up stealing the show with his perfectly timed comedic relief and fierce protectiveness. I want to wrap him in bubble wrap and send him to therapy. 10/10 would adopt as my emotional support chaos brother.
In conclusion: Sway is a gritty, steamy, emotional ride into found family, forbidden love, and healing from trauma. It doesn’t shy away from topics so read your TWs
✨If you love dark romance, mafia, motorcycle clubs, with a little suspense, RUN to read this! 🙌🏻 I loved this book and stayed up until 3am to finish it! From the beginning Addie had me invested and it just kept getting better! She was one of my favorite characters and her sassy attitude and banter was everything!
✨Addie has escaped a life of crime and desperately trying to stay on the straight and narrow to finish school. She’s working as a dancer and balancing finishing high school and starting college classes. Along the way, she catches the attention of a club member, and the two have instant chemistry that will have you squirming. When her past finds her again she does everything she can to protect her friends and family. Will the people she’s come to let into her life and heart be able to save her for good this time?
✨Chapter 29’s first line had me yelling and punching the air!😂 AND you know I read too much dark romance because I was hoping he did! 🙌🏻😅🫣
AND y’all I’m so excited because there will be more in the series! I was not ready to say goodbye to these charters and their banter! 😮💨🫱🏻🫲🏼
‼️ SERIOUSLY, if you’re a fan of the LORDS, Body Count Series, among others, you’ll fit in here! 🙌🏻
✨Addie seems older than her age from the beginning and as the story progresses you she WHY! Her being in high school was hard to wrap my mind around initially, but like other books, I have to remind myself other countries are in at different ages!
✨Forbidden romance ✨Age gap tension ✨Morally grey heroes ✨Grumpy x Sunshine ✨Secret identities
TW: Rape, trafficking, drug use
Thank you so much @talesandteacupspr and the author the copy to review! All thoughts are 100% my own!
4 ⭐️ 3 🌶️ “Sway” is the perfect blend of dark romance, sarcasm, plot, and spice. This book has me wanting to start my own Tears for Fears group chat.
The story follows Adelaide Sway who is a 19yo that’s lived two lifetimes before graduating high school. She’s an exotic dancer at a club owned and operated by a motorcycle club, run by the man who took her in (Dodge aka the Rabbi). Addie suffers from anxiety and a lifetime of trauma - her strength to keep Hope is inspiring. She’s also sassy AF and plays the brat beautifully 😮💨
Enter our MMC Darius (10 years her elder but not in a creepy way) who has to become her shadow and look out for her. He’s 29 and a real man in so many ways. Do we trust him from day 1? I’m not sure 🤷♀️ you’ll just have to ride this emotional roller coaster for yourself.
This story is age gap / body guard / tension / banter done right. We have an intricate plot, serious twists and turns, an action packed finale, and a real villain you come to despise. I found myself cackling, audibly gasping, and kicking my feet throughout. I also wanted to punch two characters specifically and maybe I developed girl crushes along the way. I can’t wait for more of this universe!
Please check your triggers! (Esp those involving kids!)
Started this book yesterday afternoon, and I've just finished it within 24 hours! Hands down, one of the best books I've read in god only knows how long. It captivated me right from the start, which is usually not how it goes for me at all unfortunately, but there was something about this book that just kept me going, which was a nice surprise. The characters, even the side characters, were entertaining and relatable in certain parts. The plot was there, which i find some authors struggle with, but Kasey did amazing, and I can't wait for Cherry to come out! 5/5 stars, would definitely recommend 👌😍
Loved this book it follows Sway and her life. It has MC, mafia both Italian and Russian, undercover operatives, lies , betrayal , secrets uncovered,. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and you need to read triggers as it was full of them. Absolutely adored Darius and Jed. The dynamics between the characters was awesome and the banter. So many twists that kept you in your toes.
This book was phenomenal! I was hooked from start to finish!! Addie is a 19 year old exotic dancer trying to escape her bad past and Darius is a 29 year old ( oh yes there’s an age gap) green eyed tattooed bad boy and I LOVE him!!
It has a brat trope and I am here for it..
The side characters are amazing and I can’t wait for the next book with some of those characters!
Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Was such a good story. Thoroughly enjoyed it and now to pick up the rest of her books too!!! Dark romance ✅ easy to read ✅ fast paced ✅ character growth ✅ and omg I LOVED the ending. Absolutely incredible read!!!!!!
I received this as an ARC and it didn’t disappoint! I read the trigger warnings and felt quite intimidated by them. Turns out I’m not as vanilla as I thought I was. I loved this book!! I loved the playlist for the book also!
Sway has a troubled past and is trying her best to navigate a positive future for herself but the dark shadows are stalking her and then she meets Darius….
This book is an intense read but one I absolutely loved. The chemistry between the characters is magnetic and the spice is 🔥
What stood out to me most though was the anxiety and trauma rep. This is done is such an honest and raw way, is never once romanticised and adds so much depth to the characters.
It is however an incredibly dark read, so definitely check out the triggers warnings before picking it up. But if you are looking for an emotionally charged, gripping dark romance then this is for you.
