In Plain Sight

Rate this book
When Princess Ingrid is kidnapped, along with her fiancé, Binky Pelly, it’s all over the international news. The King of Norway is distraught. The people of Norway are bewildered. And Ingrid’s bodyguard is fired. So, he calls on his least favourite Interpol agent for help – Friday Barnes.

The trail soon leads them to New York City, where finding a princess is harder than finding a tiara in a haystack. Can Friday unravel the mystery of the disappearing lovebirds? And when a Manhattan rockstar’s book of handwritten lyrics goes missing, it's up to Friday to restore this priceless artefact to its rightful home.

i love friday and after all the actual crimes and kidnappings, it’s nice that we’re almost back to our roots with silly explanations

Yayyyy I finished it so quick!!! Just over one hour. The cliffhanger tho 😤honestly I liked it, and ever since the Norway book I really liked the character Arthur, but he made me so angry in this book because he basically is a homewrecker. When he kissed Friday I was horrified because Friday and Ian are practically official and haven’t been arguing, but now Ian’s mad at Friday??? Valid, but when you think of Tatiana and Cassandra, Friday’s scandal isn’t that big of a deal because she didn’t mean to kiss the prince sooooo hopefully they make up in the next book. Why do I feel like this book was shorter than normal though? The time it took was basically one day…

For this book, I found the mysteries aren't really well thought out or clever anymore. And to add something, now the relationship between Friday and Ian is just 'oh, I love you' and 'kiss, kiss'. I liked it better when they were NOT together. The enemies to lovers would have been cool if they didn't just be lovey, lovey with an 'eh' plot. I think to fix this, you could make them break up, and then get back together, but I don't know

Otherwise, love this book series! I read them over the summer holidays years ago, since my sister owned the first 8 books, and ever since I've read them over and over again. I fell in love with Friday's personality and nerdy comments, let alone how sisterly and funny Melanie seems, and don't get me started on Ian. It's written well with small details that tie together the whole mystery, making it seem well thought out. Definitely my favorite book series!

im sorry but this was by far the worst book in the series. like not only was it extrememly short (i finished it in an hour) but it was also extremely predicatble, and i spent the entire book waiting for some dramatic plot twist that never came. i love r.a. spratt and the friday barnes series, but i feel like this book had the potential to be so much more than it was.

3.5 ⭐. As always it was a very funny and silly adventure. The dialogue in these books never disappoints.

I loved this it was good to have a more lighthearted mystery, it feels like the books are starting to grow along with the characters and become a bit more YA which is good for someone like me whose probably too old to be reading middle grade still (but I don’t care cuz these books r amazing). I wish they were longer, it’s gonna kill me to wait another year but as long as they keep coming I’m gonna keep waiting. (Also very happy that we got another frian kiss cuz we haven’t had one since book 9, tho I am worried about what’s gonna go down in the next book) This was so fun!! 💕
