Prophecies

Rate this book
Destiny doesn’t knock. It crashes down from the stars -- and just landed right in the middle of Dawn Amanda’s life.

Aliens hiding on Earth, galactic civil wars and ancient prophecies weren’t exactly on the curriculum of Syracuse University’s medical school. But all that changed when Dawn crossed paths with Jethric Wilcox, a brilliant yet awkward “rocket scientist” with a dangerous secret and a past that’s out of this world.

As she unwinds the mystery surrounding her new boyfriend, she finds herself pulled into a hidden war where psychic powers are real, ancient artifacts hold unspeakable power and two alien civilizations teeter on the brink of annihilation. But Dawn is no innocent bystander caught in the crossfire -- she may hold the key to their survival. While Jethric grapples with a fate that could doom worlds, Dawn must decide if she will accept her role in their prophecy.

Set during the big-hair and MTV era of 1980s America, Tears of the Prophecies is a high-stakes space opera that fuses the political intrigue of Dune with the cosmic stakes of Marvel’s Infinity War. It’s a story of identity, consequence and the terrifying weight of destiny.

Because sometimes, the universe doesn’t care if you are ready or not. It just needs you.

I picked this up expecting a fun sci-fi adventure, but Tears of the Prophecies ended up being much more layered than I anticipated. The 1980s setting was a great touch it grounded all the cosmic chaos in a very human, very nostalgic world. Dawn is a strong and believable protagonist, especially as someone who starts out completely unprepared for the destiny thrown at her.

The blend of alien politics, psychic abilities, and ancient prophecy was handled really well without becoming confusing. Jethric’s storyline added a lot of emotional weight, and I appreciated how the book explored identity and choice rather than just focusing on spectacle. By the final chapters, the stakes felt enormous, but still deeply personal. A great read for anyone who likes thoughtful, character-driven space opera.

Prophecies by Jeffrey L. Price is a thrilling blend of classic sci-fi and emotional character driven storytelling. Set against the nostalgic backdrop of 1980s America, the novel delivers aliens, ancient prophecies, and intergalactic conflict without losing its human core. Dawn Amanda is a compelling protagonist whose journey from medical student to key figure in a cosmic war feels natural and gripping. The relationship between Dawn and Jethric adds depth, balancing high stakes action with personal struggle. Fans of space opera, destiny driven narratives, and sci-fi with heart will find this book highly engaging and worth recommending.
