Ethan and Dakota have been rivals since childhood. Baseball, football, college, all the way through culinary school, the competition between them has never let up. Just when they think they’ve finally seen the last of each other, they both turn up running businesses on an island. A queer haven. When their paths cross again, feelings flare.
Ethan is forced to seek Dakota’s assistance, but they’ve never been able to communicate normally. Their bodies seem to be doing all the talking--first anger, then sizzling desire.
Ethan has feelings he can’t deal with, work around, or ignore. Whether or not he likes Dakota, his business needs him to survive. Is the rivalry the only heat source between them, or is it just the spark before the blaze?
I adored Hot Shots, the first book in the series. Dear Draco was decent but overlong and the ending was rushed. No Doubt was anything but as I had a lot of doubt at the direction it went in. I liked No, Cosmo but there are all the same editing problems as with the other three. There are continuity errors, lots of repetition and missing or unnecessary speech marks. Add that to contractions rarely being used and the overall tone is very stilted. But... I'm still reading the series and that's because of those darling little dragons. Ethan and Dakota have a long history of intense dislike between them but it's never really explained properly, save that their fathers hated each other and encouraged their sons to carry on the emnity without explaining where the hatred originated. The old saying about there being a fine line between love and hate fits Ethan and Kota to a tee. Meeting again after four years, they realise that maybe they don't actually dislike the other as much as they thought. This is where I had a problem. The passion between them is wild and fiery and the Content Warning includes fighting and pain kink, and the About/Notes section mention anger. Don't read the spoiler if you don't have any triggers and want to read this book. I don't really have any trigger warnings, apart from cheating (which I can't abide and didn't happen here), but what happened between them would have been more appropriate if this was a dark romance. I loved Ethan's upmarket food kiosk and bar that he owned with his brother, and Kota's bakery too. The descriptions of their food made me hungry, and the very athletic bartenders made me thirsty! Cosmo was a free spirit, compared to the dragons in the other books, but I loved that little doughnut thief. The ending was a bit abrupt and I would have loved to see them further down the line. I half expect Ethan's brother to be next, maybe in the Sandusky Island series Tara has said will be coming, so we'll see more of Ethan and Kota there, at least.
I had a lot of fun with this book, and I loved the elements that made it different than the first three in the series.
The premise kept me hooked from start to finish. This story follows Ethan and Kota, who have been competing with each other since childhood. Their mutual animosity remains after years apart, but underneath the hate is a passion that burns bright and hot!
Ethan and Kota find themselves working together to benefit both of their business, which is hard when you have been encouraged to hate someone from childhood. Beneath their hate, lies an intense attraction that oozes possessiveness. Their hate starts to feel a lot like love, but Ethan's past prevents him from being able to commit fully. Ethan must confront his insecurities or lose the man that he comes to love.
I was so excited to read this installment of the Dragon Tales series! Ethan and Kota's relationship is so different from the others in the series. There was no instant lust/love, but a dislike that stemmed from years of being rivals. Included with that is a dragon that does what he wants! Ugh! It was so good.
What really stood out to me was how Tara incorporated the feeling of island life and the community the MCs have with the entire cast of characters while also giving them a voice and backstory. The tension between the characters feels authentic and their struggles, the emotional ones, are really portrayed with a rawness that is hard to ignore. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, making their connection believable and touching.
The pacing was a little slow at times and the fight scenes were sometimes a bit repetitive. I loved the quieter moments between the guys though! Those moments allowed them to think and develop.
Overall, the book was a really nice read that rounded out the series! This was a 4-star read for me!
The fourth book of Dragon Tale features Cosmo, a companion dragon the size of a cat. Companion dragons only go to Legacy families or the obscenely wealthy and often act as service animals for the emotionally or physically impaired. They are extremely loyal and attentive to their person. Usually. Cosmo is a bit different. Ethan is from a legacy family and is delighted to get Cosmo. But Ethan has no serious issues, his hatred of his childhood to adult rival Dakota notwithstanding, and Cosmo is a free spirit. Ethan is a culinary school graduate who moved to the gay resort Sandusky Island with his half-brother Dylan and opened a very successful flair bar and takeout only restaurant which also gave him a chance to let Cosmo spread his wings. And spread he does. Cosmo spends his days frolicky in the waves and visiting the other establishments down the beach. Once a dessert and bakery shop opens a few doors down, Cosmo begins a campaign of stealing a donut every morning to bring back to Ethan. After some supply chain issues from the mainland, Ethan goes down to visit the owner of the bakery to order breads and pastries for his business, only to find Dylan with his arch enemy Dakota, who has Cosmo on his shoulder. These two have a long way to go from enemies to lovers to their HEA but Cosmo is determined to help. Having read and reread the ARCs for the previous three books in this series I found this release a bit lighter and more fun until Ethan lets his insecurities get the best of him. Then turn up the angst and tears. I was delighted to get this one on KU and look forward to more in this series. I’m happy to support Tara Bennet. She writes with compassion and understanding and is turning out some fine work
Another story and another dragon we are introduced to. This time is is Cosmo and his owner Ethan. I love that every dragon has its own personality and each dragon has different roles and needs. Cosmo loves his freedom, he enjoys nothing more then spreading his wings and flying, so living on Sandusky Island was perfect. Ethan ran a highly successful bar and restaurant with his brother Dylan, sworn off love after he has got his heart broken too many times. But when Cosmo gets obsessed with the local bakery Ethan realises he has history with the owner. Ethan and Dakota history started in childhood, even at a young age there was rivalry, it was a love/hate relationship. Now adults they let emotions take over. To say their relationship is volatile is an understatement, but it worked for them, there was intense passion. As you follow Ethan and Dakota, you hear more of their backstories and you see where their lives overlapped. Not all their meeting were intense, the scenes where they just cuddled, were some of my favourites and you could see how good they were together. Although there was times I just wanted them to sit down and talk, but when you have a matchmaking dragon, you know that they do not stand a chance. I am going to give a warning do not read this story if you are hungry. The amount of different food mentions had my stomach growling and with the detailed description of the dishes I swore that I could see and smell the food. The secondary characters added to the story and there were lighter moment when Dylan and Levi joined in and I would love to read their stories. Another good story to this series
So this is the fourth book in this series, and my first read of this series. Given how awesome this book was I for sure will reread the first three. Despite not having read the others, I did not feel lost at it, I was easy caught up in life on this island, a gay Mecca sorta of island. The main characters Ethan and Dakota were both well written and likable, in different ways. I love the premise that for their entire lives they have been competitors who suddenly for the life of their island business have to work together. Proof that there is a fine line between love and hate as their the suddenly begins to change to love. I loved watching Ethan who has had terrible relationship and thus not trusting grow as a character to take a change of love with Dakota. It is long but you will not feel that as you will be engulfed the the wonderful story and suddenly realize you are at the end. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
Very cool and original series, I loved getting to know these pint sized dragons. I thought making them a kind of sought after emotional support animal is so clever and definitely a highlight throughout the series. I’ve enjoyed all the books so far, but I think this one was the strongest relationship arc. Kota and Ethan have the kind of enemies to lovers romance that I like, a life long rivalry and deeply held dislike of each other- which really makes the payoff all the sweeter. The author did a great job showing the insidious nature of their long held animosity which began from their father’s competition. They can’t even remember why they hate each other with such intensity. I did think it was too long, the enemies side of their relationship dragged on a bit for me. I loved spending time on the island, it a fabulous setting with tons of personality.

I received a free copy of this ebook from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review. Do not let the page count fool you. You will not be bored, the story will not drag, and the plot stays captivating. I really connected with Ethan on a spiritual level. His heart has been broken so many times that he keeps it locked away. Until he sees the baker down the block. Dakota has been his rival since they were young and enjoys getting on Ethan's nerves. Eventually, their fighting comes to a head and becomes something just as passionate! I won't go into too much detail. I took away one star because even though the book was long, I felt like the ending was rushed. I felt like they could have taken more time to show their progress. Other than that, I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to go back and read the other books in this series!
There is nothing like the rivals or enemies to lovers trope. Watching these characters who want to cling to not liking one another or feeling like they have to compete with one another on their way to acknowledging that their heart is connected to that other person is so much fun. Ethan and Dakota have competed with one another since childhood. And even after being a part for years they are not ready to let go of the ire. But they need to learn to work together for the sake of their businesses. And this gives them time to realize that they indeed have strong feelings for one another but those feelings are love not dislike. It was so good to read along as they worked their way to their HEA. And I love Cosmo - can I have a dragon companion? I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't normally read fantasy because sometimes the "rules" of a new world get in the way of the story line. But that is not the case at all with this story. Ethan and Dakota were caught up in their father's rivalry and pitted against each other since childhood. Their battles extended into culinary school and now they have found themselves running businesses in a resort town. First they manage to cooperate to help their businesses thrive and begin to fall for each other. Ethan's past heartbreaks keep them from moving forward and he has to learn how to let go of his past so he can have the future he wants. Cosmo, the dragon, is not a distraction but just the right amount of whimsy. The story is well written and I love the characters but the only small issue I have is that the men are a little too aggressive with each other when they are dealing with their conflicts.
This was fun. Ethan and Dakota, knew each other since grammar school. They were rivals in every aspect of their lives. Their perspectives changed during an instance in highschool that planted an emotional seed. Problem is, they didn't understand what the seed was. They ended up with complementary businesses on the same island with a few businessses seperating them. Their relationship spans the spectrum, distrust, anger, lust with them acting out along the way. Cosmo, Ethan's companion was a delight. They have to work through a few business and personal challenges. Nice story. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First off Cosmo has my whole heart and then some. I adore this little dragon baby and would fight for him. Keeping in that theme, the bar and bakery are amazing and I love them so much. I want to go there immediately and I'm already in Texas so let's go! All that isn't even touching on the relationship which is steamy. I swear these two had set my kindle on fire. Kota is super sweet and perfect for Ethan. Ethan has some serious issues to work through but being cheated on really does break a part of you. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Love all the side characters too!!!
Who wouldn't love a story with a little dragon matchmaker. The main characters Ethan and Dakota (Kota) have a long history of angst. It's mostly a thing like pulling someone's plaits, except now they are truly adults. Sadly Ethan's insecurities, which are well founded force him to act in a way that wouldn't seem rational to most. Thank goodness Kota is willing to wait. The secondary characters in this story do a really great job of making the story so much more than it would have been. A well thought plot kept my interest! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Loved the world building on the island and all the food in this one. I'm also a big fan of romances where the characters' businesses play an important role and that is definitely true here. If this were real life, I'd tell Dakota and Ethan to get some counseling asap to deal with their competition and anger issues because their relationship is totally unhealthy, but in fiction I'm willing to go with the flow as long as the author is in control of their material and seems to have an endpoint in sight that fits with a romance.
Received as an ARC and this book is absolutely fire!! The angst, the drama, the smoking heat, the thin line between love and hate, that literally get danced on, the pure sheer raw power of attraction, hunger and possessiveness take this book to another level. Toss in a donut thieving dragon who is very opinionated and this book is a must have, can’t put down masterpiece.
This was a great Enemies to Lovers MM romance. The angst and the hate to love is really good. And on top of that, you have a little dragon that has a sweet tooth and steals. The banter and the fights these 2 characters have it crazy but lot's of fun to read. I highly recommend this book.
I couldn't get over the push and pull between these characters. Loved the witty banter and moments between these two. Great story, and I enjoyed it all so much!!
No, Cosmo is the fourth book in the Dragon Tale series, each can be read as a standalone. This is an enemies to lovers, angsty, drama filled book about Ethan and Kota. I loved the storyline and the wonderful characters.
Loved everything about this book except the fighting. I felt it was unnecessary and didn't really do anything for the book.. Loved Cosmo and how he seemed to know that Ethan was perfect for Kota and he recognised that they needed to be together. Lots of angst but in a good way
He has to many of half of the happiness of love. when he meets him something draws him to him like moth to a flame. can he forget all the past love pain and find that magical happiness
