I love courtroom dramas, and really enjoyed this one when I read it while in college. A man murders his daughter's killer who has been exonerated on a technicality. While he is on trial, the young lawyer who is assigned to him tries to turn the case on its head, by putting America's judicial system on trial.

This was my first introduction to the vagaries of American law: and my interest has persisted over the years.

I found this book to be so different from the other legal/courtroom books I’ve read. I found it very easy to root for the characters and toward the end of the book, could not put it down! I can’t put too much in the review because I don’t want to say spoilers! A great recommendation by my Aunt Diane!

An excellent story from 80´s about it what became from an American judicial system which have been so badly focusing just for a criminal rights and had been searching just for the technical way how to release that criminal and careless about the real guilty.
Very strong legacy of the story is the acting of a young lawyer and his effort to judge that whole comic judicial system.
The effort of the author of the book on the ridicule of the judiciary and untouchables ones was also very impressive which I liked very much.
This story is nowadays still valid for all of us and reminds us how far could go the judicial system without own selfreflections.

This really is one of those instances in which you can't judge a book by its cover. Henry Denker's "Outrage" (1982) bills itself as "A Novel of Murder and Revenge" and does indeed open with a father killing the man who raped and murdered his daughter. But it's actually a legal thriller: The protagonist is an idealistic young lawyer tasked with defending the father ... who admits to murder and is eager to be tried for his crime! The bulk of the story involves assorted courtroom maneuvers and histrionics, not to mention a "12 Angry Men"-lite denouement. So, yeah, a little bait-and-switch. That said, my damned-by-faint praise assessment: Despite somewhat stereotypical characters, it's a passable and easy read.

Es uno de los libros más interesantes que me he leído en mi vida, porque trata de temas tan actuales como el sistema de justicia, la ley y como debe aplicarse. Creo que realmente es un libro que todo el mundo debería leerse al menos una vez en la vida.

This was the first time and the one of a kind book I read. It is so coz the entire book consist of very little stuffs but only court-room drama. Although it was one of a kind but was a good one coz the court-room drama itself is a rock-hard theme to write on and at the same time giving it such a shape that will grip the readers page by page. Although for laymen (the one who have no or very little knowledge about law), it might be even pretty challenging to get strong hold. Before going thru this one should make-up their mind that it is no other ‘murder mystery’ but a court-case where the protagonist tries to defend a person who killed his daughter’s rapist and murderer.
The lead-character was very well knitted and so was his wife although they remain unmarried throughout the book. Another strong character was of the person being defended, represents another common man whit his handcuffed and only made to watch his daughter die, the murderer being released and later his wife dying. Another very-strong character (indeed parallel lead) was of the prosecutor.
There are although little race-related bias which could have been edited by the author and many readers may find those as offensive and improper. Also the book plant a big-size question-mark on the American constitution, governing bodies and law and always shouts and says that they needs amendment.
But at last, hats-off author Henry Denker for giving such an out of the bracket book. Got more than what I expected.

American justice has flaws. The courts need to be held accountable for their decisions, but it is not necessarily the right of the citizens to assume justice for themselves.
