She’s been secretly in love with the grumpy single dad ever since she started working for him ...
When working for the ruthless billionaire becomes unbearable, a luckless personal assistant is determined to quit work. But this is easier said than done.
Jett Knight can’t function without Cari, and his sweet little five-year-old adores her. The arrogant and annoying single dad has too much on his plate. He's always juggling business deals and family drama.
When it all gets too much, Cari is determined to quit work. But her plan takes a different turn when Jett makes her an offer she should refuse, but can't.
JETT is the first book in a new steamy billionaire series featuring a family of six billionaire brothers and a cold and manipulative father at the helm of a billionaire empire.
Lily Zante is the author of over sixty contemporary romance and women's fiction novels. After spending two decades working in IT, she decided to give writing another try. Given her love of The Walking Dead, she started off writing zombie fiction but quickly dove into writing romance instead. She's glad she switched.
This was hard to get through. It started off so well and I was really enjoying it, I love a workplace trope. This one though, about halfway through the FMC becomes really weak. The spice is just awkward and makes it seem like she was a born again virgin.
this would’ve been a 3 star but i just couldn’t deal with the spineless fmc, she was such a doormat for the mmc I wanted to scream at her to get off the floor so many times it was infuriating
I love Lily Zante’s writing! I know when she authors a book it will be easy follow and as always a great book. I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading this rest of the series.
For a book with so few reviews, this book surprised me. It had a good storyline and there is room for more books to follow. Read this, it is worth your time.
The start of the Knight Empire dealing with an insufferable billionaire who sees everything, and nothing all at the same time yet fate still has to kick him in the right place to him moving in the right direction. Cari has worked with her billionaire boss for years now a grumpy single dad, extremely demanding, his five year little girl is the highlight of her day and she is tired of it with her skill set she can go where there is less headache for the same pay so to speak so putting in her resignation isn’t hard the cons out weight the pros in continuing to work there add to that tired of hiding how she feels and that pushed that resignation over the top giving him one month to find her replacement. Jett sexy as all get out depended on his PA for everything for him, she is his super women deep down he loves her but of course he would never say a world, he is a workaholic put it before family, friends, before all and that is what pushed his girl to walk away. But he can’t have that so tricking her into going on vacation with them as the nanny was the only to get her to come for his daughter, he learn about her, he is in love with her will he be man enough to tell her, will she tell him how she feels, and will she get the grumpy workaholic to find happiness somewhere along the way?
This book started off strong. I was completely hooked. I picked it up Thursday night and barely slept, only managing three hours before dragging myself to work the next day. But somewhere around the halfway mark, it started to fall flat. Surprisingly, the spicy scenes were hard for me to get through. And I say that as someone who’s read some seriously filthy stuff this year with zero complaints. The spice here wasn’t even that wild—it just felt… cringey. I don’t know why. It’s pretty standard content. Could it be? Am I getting tired of spicy books?! Sigh.
Aside from that, it was okay. It had a few of the tropes I usually enjoy, but I’m not sure they were executed all that well this time.
Well I will say I enjoyed reading Jett but!!!!! In the beginning it was sooooo slow. Around chapter 22 I was frustrated with reading but I kept going because I paid for the book. So if you like more spice and a faster pace then this book is not for you.
Jett, Book 1 of the Knight Empire series, was about 33-year-old Jett (the eldest of the Knight siblings and the father to 5-year-old Brooke), and 24-year-old Cari Summers, his personal assistant/nanny.
Cari, who had been working as Jett's assistant for the past three years, was finally beginning to tire of his constant poot treatment of her. While her feelings for him went beyond those of an employee/employer, he never did. He was often harsh with her, to the point that her BFF/roommate had been trying to convince her for a year to find another position. He was constantly causing her to cancel her plans to do things for him, like buying trinkets and lingerie for his "flavor of the month" girlfriends and helping out with his daughter. She had only stayed because her mother had been ill and she needed the money to take care of her. However, her mother had passed away six months earlier, so she was seriously considering changing jobs.
Unfortunately, Jett caused Cari to miss the concert she had planned to attend with her roommate, all because he was late for his own daughter's birthday party. His current girlfriend, Alicia, was even throwing a fit about having to be there. When she returned to work the following Monday, she was prepared to hand in her written resignation, but was interrupted by the appearance of Jett's father, who apparently wanted Jett to enter into an arranged marriage with a Brazilian's daughter in order to form an alliance and join companies with them. Jett was appalled. After he returned to his office, Cari finally managed to hand him her resignation, although he wasn't looking at any of the mail she handed him. Instead, he wanted her to pick up another gift for his girlfriend and to set up a dinner date for them later that night. She told him she'd be taking a very long lunch.
When his life began to fall apart, Jett did what he always did: he turned to Cari to take care of things. He had broken up with his girlfriend of 7 months, lost his nanny because he threatened her job when she told him she wouldn't cut her vacation short for him, and he finally read Cari's resignation letter. In his anger and frustration, he decided to take it all out on Cari and make her spend 3 weeks babysitting his daughter while he was on a business trip in Bermuda. Of course, he was taking them both with him.
Even though he had told her that the evenings and weekends would be her free time while in Bermuda, their very first night was spent at a barbecue being held by some of his business associates. While there, he publicly humiliated her in front of several people The book was quite boring for most of the time. The push/pull between these two lasted so long that it became difficult to concentrate on it. By Chapter 25, these two were still dancing around each other with nothing of significance happening between them...and there were still 28 chapters to go. It wasn't until Chapter 32 that anything of significance happened.
Although their personal life heated up, the people Jett constantly introduced her to were vicious in their treatment of Cari...and with his daughter. But they hadn't been intimate long before the business world interrupted, and Jett had to leave Cari and Brooke alone in Bermuda while he tried to salvage a deal going south.
There was more than enough angst in this book, but the drama and spicy scenes were lacking. The push/pull between the two main characters was OTT and took up way too much of the story. There was more conflict than romance. While I enjoy a book with a plot moppet, the FMC spent more of her time with the child than she did the MMC. 90% of the secondary characters were against these two getting together. The couple got an HFN instead of an HEA, even in the bonus epilogue, which was disappointing to say the least. Plus, the storyline and plot didn't flow smoothly or make any real sense, to be honest. They were too choppy and broken into so many parts that it made the book boring. There were also quite a few unresolved issues, some of which were confusing as to why they were mentioned if they weren't going to be expounded on. Other issues were necessary to know the ending, but were left hanging.
While both main characters were somewhat fleshed out, the FMC was more mature than the MMC, but she needed more of a backbone than she had. While she wasn't a doormat, she gave in to the MMC too much and let him push her around. He took too long to understand his feelings for the FMC, and he didn't show much growth until the book was near the end. (Thankfully, there wasn't any cheating once these two got together.)
I only gave this book a 2-star rating. I just didn't feel any connection between the two main characters other than boss/employee. Due to the length of this book and the lack of continuity, I don't know if I will read any of the other books set to join this one in the future.
Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday in the Bermuda with your boss and his daughter
🖨️You guys should know, Lily Zante wrote Love Among the Ruins and I'm never getting over that book. Which is why Jet came up a little short to Dom (my forever man), but it was still great.
📠This was a will-they-won't-they rollercoaster and I hadn't bought enough popcorn. Because a trip to bermuda with your boss sounds like the kind of thing you should definitely avoid as an employee. At least not without a chastity belt lol. Cari didn't and I wouldn't either if I were her.
🖊️I'm mad at Jett for being an A-hole in the beginning. But his character is sort of broody lovable billionaire (the kind I like) and Cari is someone who doesn't necessarily take his sh!t (girlboss) so the characters get 5 cheese for existing (it's my rating)
🔒All that pining in Bermuda leads to some spicy eggplant activities though I felt like my girl Cari lost her spark somewhere in the middle. But it's alright, we all have times like that.
🍎 All in all I liked this book. It starts off as a workplace romance, has a single dad rep, sweet friends and a tropical island get away.
🖨️Extra cheese for little daughter of his. God bless that child.
Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday in the Bermuda with your boss and his daughter
Jett has to be my favorite office romance book this year. This book is the first I have read by Lily Zante, and I enjoyed her writing style and the world and characters she has created. I loved the storyline of this book; it was original, page-turning, heartbreaking, and heartwarming, with drama, angst, and spice mixed in. The characters were complex and had an intense and undeniable chemistry. The main characters' banter was the best. I loved the push and pull they both put each other through. I could not put this book down until the end. I laughed, cried, and fist-pumped a few times throughout this book, and I cannot wait to see what comes next in the Knight Empire series.
Never make your assistant mad....
Cari was more than what I thought she would at the beginning of this book. She is a silent storm and I loved her strength, determination, and stubbornness Jett was broody, bossy, and very possessive. I enjoyed his broodiness and his obsession with a certain assistant. Their push and pull and all the angst will have you reaching the end of the book and wanting more from Cari and Jett.-By Brooke
Jett is the first book of the author’s new Knight Empire series of billionaire brothers navigating love and the high stakes world of business that is over shadowed by their controlling father. This first contemporary romance features oldest brother Jett and his long suffering Personal Assistant Cari Summers. Cari has been in love with the older Jett Knight for all the three years working for the single dad, despite his grumpy, and demanding air. She also adores his five year old daughter Brooke whose mother is deceased. Urged by her bestie roommate to turn in her resignation Cari finally does just as Jett is dealing with spiraling events in his own life that leads to an unexpected change in their working relationship. I enjoyed this steamy, engaging story that progressed nicely with good writing, tension, emotion, and expertly crafted characters whose captivating narrative kept me turning the pages of this immersive read! HEA.

A well written novel deplicting a period of time in the lives of Jette Knight and Cari, as they struggle to discover who they are to each other. Mr. Knight the patriarch and father to six sons, three American and three Italian that he ruled with an iron tongue. Everything to him was always business and making money first, family and relationships second. Jette depended a great deal on his PA, Cari to manage his work and personal life she did everything for him. His American brothers called her "super woman". They had feelings for each other, but they kept them hidden from each other. Only Cari got tied of hidding her feelings and resigned her position with a months notice. Jette had business trip/vacation with his five year old daughter, Brooke, and the nanny had quit, so he blackmailed Cari into going with them. Enjoyed this exciting book. Will definitely give book two a go to see how Dex fairs with his father, since Jette found his backbone.

Well, I ate this thing up... I am a mood reader, and I was in mood of something unhinged and ridiculous, and boy did this deliver... Was it a literary masterpiece? No Was it a 5-star read? also No Did I like it? hell yeah.. It was fast paced, unrealistic billionaire setup, this series is about the super realistic scenario of 6 single handsome brothers living in this world, all billionaires and of course all open to be set-up somehow in a romantic environment, just normal stuff we see on our daily lives... This is the kind of fiction I was in the mood of and I am not ashamed of it... I ate every word and finished in one sitting...
Tropes: Boss/employee Secret pining for each other Family conflicts Billionaire Single Dad Slow burn (it burns around 65% - 70% mark)
One thing I didn't like was him having her run around buying presents for his other GFs "to push her away".. but oh well
Will I forget I read it? probably, but nobody can steal from me the enjoyment I feel right now... 3.5/5 stars...
Give me 1 thing thats to like about Jett. I just don’t understand woman who fall in love with men who treat them like shit, even less than shit. And he is already with another woman. He is never there for his daughter. Even forgot his daughter’s birthday. She gave him her resignation and the next thing she is on a plane to look after his daughter. Because the nanny left her job because of him being an absolute asshole to her. And still he doesn’t think it is him that makes people leave their jobs. Aaaah poor bully, he hates flying commercial planes. His brother needed the private jet. I know such a hardship flying first class. You buy the ticket next to you too because it’s hard to deal with human beings He even thinks of himself that he a selfish moron, who uses people for his own benefit At 25% I gave because I just didn’t want to know how easily everything is forgiven and forgotten. She is a loser and a doormat. Dnf
This is the first book by Lily Zante I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. I loved the growth Cari goes through as the story develops. I loved how she was with Jett’s little girl Brooke. I love how Cari will stand up to others and keep them from blaming someone for something they didn’t do. I liked the chemistry between Jett and Cari. The pull he tried to fight but couldn’t. They are bound to be together. They really complement each other. Jett’s father is a piece of work. I can’t believe how he is and how he is with his granddaughter. He cares about nothing or no one. All he cares about is money and his empire. Him and his offers are ludicrous. This is well written. It flows nicely together and it kept me wanting to know what was next. Must read.
This was an angsty romance for Jett and Cari and I enjoyed the banter between them. He comes to realize that she's not only the best admin assistant he's ever had, she's also great with his daughter. Cari was always available to him, to the point of it taking over her life. Initially, she was ok with that because of her crush on him, but her friend pointed out the unhealthy work/life balance she had and she set about to make changes. To say this totally threw him off his game is an understatement ;) He comes up with a plan to have more time with her and, yeah, finds himself falling hard for her. Expect to feel all the feels in this slow burn romance. Thankfully, they get a wonderful HEA and I'm looking forward to the next brother's story :D
Although this is the first book I've read written by Lily Zante, it won't be the last. Jett is too focused on work to see the beauty right in front of his face. Cari has worked for the demanding Jett for several years and is smitten with her boss, but he is oblivious, and she is tired of being taken for granted. When she gives her notice, Jett's nanny quits so he begs Cari to help out. Now he sees her, but is it too late. Well written, compelling characters, full of sizzle, steam, drama, and more. This was 4 stars for me and I cant wait to read brother Dex's story next.

Enough is enough for Cari when the demands of her boss go past her job description one too many times. Jett can’t function without her but taking her for granted could cost him more than he expected. A forced situation leaves Cari’s last month in close proximity to Jett and when things heat up, feelings are brought to the surface in the most emotional and intimate ways. Their story was intense and well written. I enjoyed to bonus scene just as much as the book itself and can’t wait for more to come from this series.

This is the first installment in the Knight Empire series. Jett and Cari's story is a captivating romance. The story is well paced and well written. Jett and Cari have an undeniable chemistry, the romance was both sweet and passionate. I couldn't help fall in love with Brooke, too cute. This is definitely a book that I would recommend reading. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing each character get their happily ever after!.

Jett and Cari's romance is the definition on slow burn.
Billionaire, single dad, assistant/ nanny romance.
I liked this book over all but I don't feel like the slow burn was a little drawn out and with both POV's both of them were talking about liking the other for multiple chapters but neither did anything.
Over all good book its not over smutty and dose have some plot. The smutt in it is tasteful but my favorite thing about the book is Brooke the daughter being a part of the book not just a few appearances and talking about her she is actually a well rounded character.
Books with a MFC who is in her early twenties are tiresome and overdone. Seldom is that young woman mature enough to have a strong character, instead, overloaded with a childish vocabulary and silly insecurities. This book did make me exercise in the form of eye rolling and cringing every time the term "my little shortcake" or "Shortcake" appeared on the page. Now, after whinging, I admittedly lack the admirable quality to be an author. Carry on Author and hopefully with a story about a strong and experienced MFC and an interesting alpha MMC. Jett was a whiner.
Jett has a cold and manipulative father that only sees money and not family. Cari is his personal secretary and has loved him for awhile. She has a hard decision to make to either stay and be miserable or go and be devastated. Fate has a way of making decisions that seems to be too hard to make. Jett has some hard decisions to make as well.
