This Hollow Town is Full of Surprises!
The first part of the Wonderfall YA dystopian series set the bar very high, which really made me look forward to the sequel. Finally, the wait is over!
Hollowtown picks up directly after the events described in the first book and continues the adventure of 17-year-old Carter Simms as he sets out to explore the world outside Wonder, hoping to enjoy his freedom. Together with some companions met along the way, Carter arrives in the titular city of Hollowtown - a place where, as he quickly finds out, nothing is what it seems.
There are a lot of things I enjoyed about this title. Firstly, the characters; Carter makes for a strong and likeable protagonist, which is quite essential as the story is almost entirely told from his POV. I also liked some light-hearted remarks of his, such as complaining about always ending up with unmanly nicknames. Some new characters join the fray as well, and I think they are a great addition to the cast.
Secondly, the world-building; Hollowtown is a peculiar place with dark secrets and characters with hidden agendas. It fits in very well with the dystopian theme of the series. It also hosts a unique event, which will strike the right chord with readers who like competition and danger. I don’t want to spoil anything here, but the Author really made sure a lot of exhilaration awaits.
Finally, the writing style and the pacing of the story make Hollowtown a great read; with all the action and some twists and turns, there is never a dull moment here.
All in all, if you're not familiar with the series yet, do give it a try! It's absolutely worth it! If you already enjoyed Wonderfall, you’ll devour Hollowtown and have a blast! Once again, Travis Raish delivers YA dystopian sci-fi at its finest!

If you haven’t read the first book in the series: spoiler alert!
Travis, after Wonderfall I just had to know what life would be like outside of Calista’s glass. Throughout Wonderfall I enjoyed the dystopian quirks of the world around Carter but found myself annoyed by him falling in love with every girl he came in contact with. It wasn’t until you told us that they were bots and he chased after the real Ava that I was hooked until the end. Hollowtown, in my opinion, is much more entertaining than Wonderfall throughout, however the end of Hollowtown left me wanting more!
Will there be a third book? Does Carter win and secure the cure, or do the games continue? I must know! Your books are the first ones I downloaded on my Kindle and I love them, just can’t wrestle with the unresolved ending. This would have been a 5 star read, but I don’t know if this is a cliffhanger or the real ending! Thank you!
