Roommate's Guide to Love

Rate this book
A sexy, small town, single dad, roommates to lovers romance from bestselling author, Chelle Sloan.

GUIDE TO LOVE RULE #6: Flings are temporary. Falling for the single dad could be forever.
I believe the saying is "never say never." To that I say hold my beer.
I never thought I'd quit my job as a middle school teacher because of a group of unpleasant parents, yet I did with my middle finger in the air and no regrets.
Now I'm back in the small town in Tennessee where I grew up unsure of the future, facing temptation on a daily basis in the form of Porter McCoy.
For years, we've had the perfect “situationship.” I couldn’t get enough of the flirty bar owner and neither of us wanted anything serious. So twice a year when I came to visit my family, we'd do our thing. It was deliciously sexy with no strings attached.
Yet when an unexpected surprise lands on his doorstep in a pink dress and a baby carrier, everything changes—especially after he asks me to move in with him to help raise his niece.
Somehow I agree, but under one condition—what we had is no more. Because sleeping together and living together is a little too much like a relationship. Something neither of us are looking for.
Porter agrees, but soon I realize I underestimated my strength to resist the newly single dad.
Because it should be illegal for him to cuddle her shirtless.
Or walk around the house in just a towel.
And when we share a look, I remember what it felt like when he kissed me.
Which now brings me to my latest I never thought I'd fall in love with Porter McCoy.
And there's no guide to love for that.

#Review: *Roommate's Guide to Love* - Chelle Sloan - ARC [18+]
4.6/5✨
3/5🌶️

Time to continue this fun series by Chelle Sloan with this 3rd book. Thank so much Chelle and Valentine Pr for this e-copy.

Quinn is a pretty wild spirit, having a fun personality but one which will get her in a little trouble. Why? Because she will get caught up in a big argument at work, which will end up by quitting her job. Now she was back home to Tennessee, with the uncertainty if she should stay there or just start over somewhere else. But things will get more complicated and soon everything will spin 360°.

Porter is the one who occasionally shared some steamy nights, without strings, with Quinn for a long while and that worked pretty well for both of them, until Quinn has returned permanently to town. The tension was so strong that made Porter question himself about his restraints he had towards Quinn. Besides that, he will soon have another problem to handle, one which will only bring him closer to Quinn.

Even from the start we got to see the bubbly personality of Quinn and how unique she was. Never pleased with herself, she built herself in a way to guard her mental health, after being bullied by the people around her. That's why I liked so much the relationship she had with Porter, because he was mesmerized by her for who she really was, by everything she meant.

The presence of Quinn sisters made this book even more fun, being impossible not to feel good. There were some emotional parts too, but they offered some great lessons to learn from.

Another super enjoyable read by Chelle Sloan, one which will mostly put a smile on your face, being super relaxing, fun and steamy. Recommended when you wanna read something lighter.

Roommate’s Guide to Love is the third title in the Guide to Love series written by Chelle Sloan.

What to expect:
*Single guardian
*Situationship turned more
*Teacher x Bar Owner

Grown adults in a situationship? Yes please! Plus size FMC and a bar owner? Sign me up!! A code phrase for spicy times? This book was written about my life!!

Quinn and Porter have had an on again, off again situationship for many years now whenever she is back in town visiting her family. When she finds herself without a job Quinn ends up back home for good and Porter couldn’t be happier until an unexpected surprise is left for him to take care of by his long lost sister.

This is my favorite book of this series!! Quinn and Porter are everything that I have ever wanted from a relationship. The communication between this couple was some of the best writing I have seen in a long time!

The student book club idea was amazing, the way that the FMC stressed the importance of allowing kids to read books that they enjoyed was truly moving!

No OW/OM drama, no jealously, no third act breakup!

Thank you to Valentine PR, and the author, for the opportunity to read and review this title!

I absolutely loved this book! This is the 3rd book in the Guide to Love series by Chelle Sloane and it was such a sweet and fun read! It definitely pulls on the heart strings with a healthy dose of spice 😉

Quinn is our no-nonsense, spunky, outspoken, unapologetic plus size FMC. Shes a teacher and will do anything for her students, including going to toe to toe with the mean girl mom group.

Porter is our golden retriever, bar owner MMC. Literal definition of a walking green flag. He and Quinn have been friends since childhood and have been in a spicy situationship for the last 8 YEARS! Everytime Quinn comes back home to visit, she always puts in an order for “chicken wings” at the bar, and Porter is not the only one licking his fingers clean by the end of the night 😉

Things get complicated when Quinn EPICLY quits her job after her school doesn’t support her , which forces her to move back home. She’s still on the hunt for a job when she starts working with Porter. And still ordering those chicken wings. But everything comes to a screeching halt when Porters estranged sister leaves his baby niece on his doorstep to raise. Porter and Quinn become roommates to help take care of little Grace. But , Quinn makes it clear…if she’s moving in, their hookups stop. Living together AND sleeping together seems way too much like a relationship and they have both made it clear that they aren’t in the market for that…right 🤭 Porter agrees but as they spend time together every day, he realises that Quinn has always been THAT GIRL for him. And the idea of being in a relationship with Quinn is more enticing than not.

Quinn is feeling all the feels but is guarded due to past trauma and insecurities…feeling like she isn’t enough and that Porter can do better. But Porter is having NONE OF IT. He reminds and shows her every day just how perfect she is to him and helps heal those wounds by reminding her of just how amazing she is.

The little family they build is EVERYTHING! The way Quinn’s family rallies around them all had my heart soaring. It’s such a fun and beautiful read. This series is honestly SO GOOD! I can’t wait for the next book 🩵

My favorite in the series so far. The beginning was so strong and I loved the development and how the two MCs had a long history of hookups that kept them together. When Quinn moves back and start working at her 8 year long hookups bar.... magic starts to unfold!

The communication between Quinn and Porter was done so well and it really provided an authentic working relationship that we all crave. Add in Porter being coming a single guardian for a 10 month old and you have a swoon worthy story.

The sister chats were top tier and the banter was very on point. Add the students and online book club elements and this book gave me so much goodness I couldn’t stop. I love a good heartwarming story with lots of belly laughs and that is exactly what you get with this one!

Each character is lovable and makes the face pace book an easy read with all the whit you need!

4,5⭐

How do i start? I don't think i can express how much i LOVED this book. Really, i fell in love with the author's writing, impeccable, the story and the development of it and the characters.
Starting from Quinn, she's so funny and i relate to her so much, she use the sarcasm to hide her emotion and insecurities and i do that a lot too. I loved so much her personality and she represent how in life, after you hit the bottom, you can only go up. It doesn't happen over night, but when you think that's all black there will be a light.
While Porter is... i just need one word. PERFECT. And i mean it. He's so sweet, caring, hot and, again, perfect in bed. Sorry I don't make the rules, and just like Quinn, I'm a weak, weak girl. I'm also a child of divorce and like him i feel a bit of insecurities to put your trust on someone. I loved the way he didn't think twice about taking care of Grace, how he became obsessed with that little girl and the bows 🥹
Like i said, the writing was amazing and the spicy scenes were chef kiss. I'm really jealous of Quinn, let's just say that.
I'm DEFINITELY gonna read the other of this series, i want to know more about the Banks sisters!

okay, I absolutely loved this book😭 the communication and the dynamic between Quinn and Porter was done so well. Add in Porter becoming a dad and suddenly it’s one of my favourite books ever.

I loved the moments between Quinn and Porter, the history they have together really added to that dynamic and the banter they share. It was an all around really fun read. I also really loved the relationship Quinn had with her sisters! They share a lot of jokes and also are able to have serious moments which I absolutely adore.

I love that Quinn is an FMC that stands up for what she believes in, the chapters with her students and how she’s stood up for what they needed was so wholesome

Thank you Chelle and Valentine PR for the ARC!

Quinn may be one of my favorite fmcs ever. She's strong and independent, and stands up for what she believes in and is comfortable in her own body. The chemistry between her and Porter was so good. I love their banter together. Quinn's family is so over the top but you can tell the love and support they have for each other. Porter and Quinn are the last to realize how all they work together, and with his niece involved, they make a perfect little family. They love and support each other wholly.

Thank you Valentine PR and Chelle Sloan for an arc copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

This book flew by- the pacing was quick and the writing was easy to understand.

I knew Quinn was pretty pissed off at the annoying mom groups they make in school, but letting her hatred for them get in the way of a professional conversation in front of her boss did not feel believable, in my opinion. A principle would not let a teacher cuss people out and say penis a billion times. I think she could've handled that situation more maturely, considering she's a grown adult, althought I do understand where the aggressiveness stemmed from.

Unfortunately I couldn't connect to any of the characters, which made the book less engaging for me.

There were also some things that didn’t sit right with me. For example: "Now, I could find her asleep. There have been nights she’s come over and I’ve had a late-night closing. When that happens, I wake her up the only way I know how—with my tongue between her thighs." Yes, I get that it could be consensual, but it wasn’t specified, so naturally, it made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

Also I know it shouldn't bother me that much but the mention of social media in books always catches me off guard, and makes me cringe.

HILARIOUS… this was my first book by this author and she won me over in just the first couple chapters! The FMC Quinn was so witty and fun, with no filter, she was just a tell it like it is kinda girl! She had me laughing through the whole book! If you need a good laugh and looking for a ROM-COM, don’t miss out on this one! P.S. if your interested in knowing about the spice, it’s there and spread out through the whole book 😉

Loved this 😍

I felt that Quinn was so relatable.
Quinn is a curvy woman in her mid 30's who doesn't filter herself and honestly, I am here for it. Quinn has been one of my favourite characters so far.

Porter fell first. Always liked Quinn but started to feel more when he had an expected gift left on his desk.

This book was funny, spicy and romantic.

The drama was quickly dealt with. No 3rd act break up and all round, a good book.

The only annoyance was that it made me want chicken wings 😂😂

This one was maybe my least favorite of the series. It was still a good read and a cute story and I loved Quinn and Porter but I felt bored during a lot of it. I also felt like her sisters were kind of mean to her in the beginning about her quitting her job, like they weren’t that supportive.

**Absolutely Adorable!**

*Roommate’s Guide to Love* is the third book in the *Guide to Love* series, and I just can’t stop raving about it! For eight wonderful years, Quinn and Porter have shared a special order of chicken wings whenever Quinn came back home to visit her family. But life takes a turn when Quinn moves back home after quitting her teaching job for standing up for herself when the school didn’t have her back.

Porter is now in charge of the local bar he inherited from his dad—you know the type of place where everyone knows your name and feels like family. With Quinn back in town and searching for a temporary job while she figures things out, Porter happens to need an extra set of hands at the bar. Things get even more interesting when Porter’s estranged sister drops off his niece for him to raise!

In need of help, Quinn and Porter become roommates to take care of the adorable little Grace. Unfortunately, this means their beloved chicken wing tradition will have to change. But as they start to play family, their bond grows stronger, and they realize they’ve had feelings for each other since high school! When they finally embrace their attraction, the chemistry between them is off the charts, and they truly become a wonderful family of three.

I can’t say enough about how well this story is written! The banter between the characters is hilarious, and you’ll find yourself laughing out loud. Each character is so lovable, making this a fast-paced read that you’ll want to devour in one sitting. There’s also an emotional side with some family drama that adds depth to the story, along with fantastic character growth.

Since this is the first book in the series I’ve read, I definitely plan to check out books one and two. I’m also super excited for the fourth book coming out later this year! Until then, happy reading!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well Chelle Sloan has done it again… I’ve said it before I am obsessed with the Banks family especially the sisters. In Roommates Guide to Love we meet Quinn the textbook middle child. Quinn is so relatable it hurts. I’ve always been on the heavier side compared to my siblings so I can relate to Quinn’s insecurities and the way she deflects with humor. Quinn is tough in all the best ways, she’s that friend that would fight someone for you. I love everything about her.

Every book of this series I think the MMC is the perfect man and it’s true they are all amazing but Porter may be my favorite. Porter has been in love with Quinn since high school but she was too insecure to say yes the many times he asked her out. Porter with Grace made my ovaries ache. Not only does this gorgeous man love and worship Quinn for who she is the way she is, he is also an excellent Dad once he gets through the learning curve.

Of course there is plenty of Bank’s sisters action and don’t forget about Simon. It’s always fun to watch them interact with each other and I swear I want them to adopt me. This book was sweet and spicy and made me fall more in love with these women and the men that love them. I can’t wait for Ainsley’s story.

I listened to an ALC of this book narrated by Amanda Stribling and Tyler Donne. Amanda has narrated the three other Guide books and she’s amazing in all of them. She really did an excellent job with the narration. Tyler also narrated Runaway Brides Guide and he made Porter come to life. His narration was excellent. Thank you Chelle Sloan and Podium Audio for providing this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Like Porter tells Quinn, their story is one of a kind. And it is a whirlwind story at that!

They have a “situationship” going 8 years strong…and had mutual secret pining for each other for YEARS before that… Their lives both get turned upside down and somehow they end up deeply intertwined because of it. Quinn has her huge life change, Porter has his and together their story takes you on a ride.

I love Quinn’s big and bold personality. It is fun and fiery! It truly is what makes her such a fun fmc! She is fierce, brave, loyal, honest and you totally get why Porter has loved her for years.

I could relate so much to Porter with his situation regarding his mom. It hit home hard and I was so relieved when things worked out for him, Grace and Quinn. ❤️ book or not, my blood was boiling at the narcissistic nut who was his mother! 🤣

As always in this series, the Banks family is hilarious and adds to the story- each in their own way! After that epilogue, I CANNOT wait for Ainsley’s story! Let’s go! 👏🏻

Have I found my favorite Banks sibling?! Don’t tell the others.

Quinn and Porter were absolute perfection from the START. Casual, cool, constant. They were together every now and then and it worked for them both.

Porter runs the town bar and Quinn blows into town and is in desperate need of his chicken wings. Don’t worry, you’ll understand QUICK.

Quinn was straight up chaos in her town and was notorious for it. I was absolutely obsessed with her and her antics. So was Porter.

Quinn obviously has her strong family connections, while Porter only had his dad. A surprise visit brings a surprise life changing event for Porter and Quinn and co. jump in to help.

Chelle Sloan had so many good tropes in this book I was in loveeee. Casual lovers to serious, we can/we can’t, surprise guardian, bartender/teacher, crushing your enemies, secret hookups, no third act breakup.

If you haven’t started this series, don’t worry, Simon has a guy. (The One I Hate: Rolling Hills Book 4)

This book was TOO cute! This was my first book I’ve read by this author and she didn’t disappoint! This book was both hilarious & heartwarming!

I loved watching Quinn & Porter’s relationship go from situationship/friends to lovers. The communication between the two characters is what dreams are made of!! The banter & witty conversations were my favourite, they had me laughing out loud too many times to count! I love that the spice is just lightly sprinkled throughout the book!

I saw a lot of myself in Quinn. She is witty, funny, & has zero filter! She really lets you know how she feels and you know what? I love that! But she also deals with bullying & insecurities that have pushed her away from her hometown.

Porter, he is THE man!! The way he loves Quinn and his niece Grace just makes me melt! He gives touch them and die vibes and I’m HERE FOR IT!

Safe to say I will be reading the other books in this series asap!

I love this series, and this is my favorite book to date. This review is going to be all about Quinn; I do not think I have ever read a character like her. She is hands down the best ever. She is strong and independent, a champion for her beliefs, and confidence galore. Her family is extra, but their love and support for her are never questioned. Her relationship with Porter is refreshing, from communication to the chemistry.

This book is a fun read, fast paced, with plenty of humor.

Quinn and Porter’s story swept me away! Chelle Sloan has a way to write stories that will make you laugh, feel and fall in love with her characters all at the same time. This sweet story was no different and it was a fun read!

It might’ve taken them a while to get there but these two were definitely made for each other. From the way they supported each other to their friendship and connection, everything felt like it happened the way it should’ve.

I love the Guide to Love! You never know what to expect and laughs are garanteed. My favourites in this one were rule 24 and 17.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it!

A lovely book with hotspots and other goodness!

Anyone who looks at my reading history, knows I love a good single daddy story. Chelle Sloane does not disappoint with Roommate’s Guide to Love!

Porter is a wonderful man who finally gets the girl he’s been crazy for since high school and Quinn gets the man she never knew wanted her as much as she didn’t know she needed him!

And it’s all due to one little baby girl coming into their lives. Awww… I’m not crying, you’re crying!

This has been on my tbr list for so long! I am so thankful for the ARC edition because even though it’s releasing in just a few days I didn’t want to wait any longer. Through all the laughs out loud and the tears and the heartfelt butterflies I can say this is her best work yet. Going from a class clown to a teacher to ending up in a whirlwind not knowing what’s going to happen next Quinn has her work cut out for her. Anyone who has a job in education can relate to Quinn and anyone who has ever felt betrayed, unappreciated or unvalued will find that sometimes things aren’t so black and white and things happen for a reason.

I will be going back to read the other books in this series for sure!

Okay, okay- we have Quinn- who by the way is an awesome human and I want to be bffs with her- just saying.

Quinn is a teacher who loves her students and is teaching them to stand up for themselves so since she is teaching them that she has to stand by her word and stand up for herself. So when the mean moms come after her she goes after them.

Porter is a bar owner and old friend of Quinn’s. Every time Quinn comes home and orders chicken wings. Well you can guess what happens. But what happens when Quinn doesn’t leave for Arizona and stays in town.

Yeah, feelings come to the surface.

Oh but not only that but does a baby being thrown in the mix to and not in the way you’re thinking either, I bet.

Porter steps up to uncle duties and Quinn is there to help him through it.

I absolutely love Quinn and Porter. They melted my heart.

This book will make you laugh out loud!

Middle school English/Language Arts teacher Quinn has had an unfortunate experience with an overzealous and misguided parent group. In the aftermath, she returns back to her family home in middle Tennessee to decide upon her next career move. On arrival she resumes her no strings friends with benefits situationship with the hunky bar owner who’s now her temporary employer.

While he’s always enjoyed his hookups with Quinn, Porter has wanted something more with her, but the long distance between them and the fact that she’d been avoiding staying over throughout their entire “arrangement” made it a non starter. When an infant niece is thrust into his care by his half-sister, Porter finds an ally and co-caregiver in Quinn, so he does what he feels is the next logical thing: asking Quinn to move in with him. Quinn ends their frienefits as soon as they share living space and full-time guardian duties, but it isn’t long before lines are blurred and feelings are involved.

A threat from an unexpected source might either drive them apart or bring them much closer together in this sexy, sweet, delightfully quirky romance.

These Banks sisters (and brother Simon!) are hashtag family goals, with each one becoming my favorite… I just know Chelle Sloan is going to rip our guts out with Ainsley’s book before patching us back up together in the end.

I am so grateful to the author and Valentine PR for allowing me the privilege of reading and reviewing this ARC prior to publication. I’m pleased to share my honest review and wholeheartedly recommend this book, as well as the entire series.

Rolling Hills, Tennessee, only gives Quinn Banks nightmares. No one ever took the time to find out why she was the wild child of the five Banks children. Some would say right off the bat because she was BIG GIRL BANKS. It was easier to be Hurricane Banks, the prankster, joker, and the girl full of snark. But really, it stems from A time back in elementary school, a kid called her fat. A little bully is being mean. But instead of telling the teacher or calling him a name back, she pulled a prank. Now, instead of kids laughing at her because a kid was being mean, they laughed with her because of the awesome, funny thing she did.

Explaining the vicious cycle that began thirty-plus years ago by using humor, pranks, and sarcasm to deflect any words that could be thrown at Quinn even now. Her epiphany doesn't come until three-fourths of the book, as she is telling her sisters. Anyway, backpedaling. Now, during all this craziness in her sixteen-year-old self, someone had caught sight of her, and Porter McCoy admired her beauty, ballsiness, and outspokenness. Most of all, Porter thought Quinn was beautiful. The funny thing about it all is that Quinn felt the same way about him, the guy she had always had a crush on. Except every girl at school wanted Porter.

So, when Porter asked her out, she had to consider the validity of it in his head. Because in his group of friends, she had heard them say Big Girl Banks before, as she passed them. Especially the more he would hang around her. They both liked having someone to talk to. Even though she is two years younger than him. He asked her out a few times, crushing his spirit. But she knew if she said yes and then he crushed her heart, she wouldn’t be able to take it. She was relieved when it was time to go off to college, as it would be a fresh start. However, no sorority was in her future, not for the big girl with the odd sense of humor who cursed more than a sailor on a ship.

College was over, and she knew she didn’t want to stay in Knoxville. She knew for sure that if she moved back home, she would forever be known as Big Girl Banks, the girl who once hid all the spoons in the cafeteria. She needed a fresh start, so she threw a dart at a map, and Arizona stuck. It was working out well until it didn’t. But she had to stand up for what she believed in. However, here’s the back story: she’s come home a few days after quitting her job. She felt right about what she did, but for one thing, she didn't get to talk to her students and say goodbye. All the sisters met at Porter’s bar for drinks and a chat, and the world let her off the hook, maybe not totally.

However, 8 years back, she and Porter were in a bad place in their lives. She had come home for a visit, and it had turned out Porter’s dad had died. On the same day of the funeral, when showing her sister pictures of him on his social media, she started digging through it; that's her superpower. What she noticed was that a woman kept coming up in his feed right behind him. She dug up her feed and found out they have been dating for four months. She confronted him over thee, and he admitted everything. Didn’t even try to lie. That’s how little he cared.” Porter said he was an idiot. “No, it isn’t,” he says.

“You’re a beautiful woman, and any guy would be lucky as hell to be with you. Any f-ing prick who doesn’t realize that doesn’t deserve you, and you sure as f--- don’t deserve him.” “Thanks, and you don’t deserve to have to go through all of this alone. We’re a mess, aren’t we?” “ He can only laugh at her comment. “Two peas in a pod.” “Quinn?” “Yeah?” He nods back to his house. “Want to get out of here?” She looks at his house, then back to him. “Yeah. I do.” And so it began, the perfect situationship.

****ARC****

Thanks to Valentines PR for selecting me for this ARC. And a HUGE!!! thank you to the wonderful author for writing this amazing book. THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤

The Banks Family will ALWAYS be one of my favorite families to read about. And Quinn Banks is a badass and as much as she was insecure about her weight, I like Porter didn't care about that because she was beautiful inside out and she was selfless, she would do ANYTHING for her family and that included Porter and Grace.

This book was incredible and I love that he was someone from her past and they had history. These two were just trying to resist each other for years and when she was back in town but that didn't last long and then just gave in because I mean it was just negative voices in her head telling her she wasn't good enough and he was just waiting for her and I love how he always reassured her on how beautiful and sexy she was. When it came to their love lives it was *chefs kiss*, the spice was spicing and they just incredible chemistry and just fed off each others vibes. When it came to their jobs, she was just top tier standing up for herself at that school and I would call the school names but those students, they were just the best and that email they sent and how the book ended showed how much she had a HUGE influence on them. But this book wouldn't be a Chelle Sloan book if there wasn't a twist because in each of these books, there is always a 'will they won't they' turned sexy but there's always deeper issues brewing behind scenes and then when it comes to the forefront it's an explosion. This was no different and I was here for it and as we get more books the clan becomes bigger so to resolve the main issue and even the romance, we get more advice and help from the sisters plus the significant others which is amazing.

Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. There's always found family, love and romance but also love amongst the sisters and their families along with their husbands, boyfriends and fiancé's, there's always a great plot and there's Simon who NEVER fails to make us laugh, he's a special one and a side character that's always somewhat the main character in each book. This book was amazing and just seeing Quinn and Porter finding their happiness by working together and raising baby Grace together was so beautiful. Can we talk about that epilogue and how it was just so special, I love how Porter listens and observes and just know Quinn inside out because the way he did it was just what she was all about.

P.S. The next book I can feel might possibly be the sexiest, dare I say the kinkiest. I mean the name and Ainsley being our sweet girl, this will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and not to mention how flustered she was in that chapter. Yeah I'm ready but at the same time sad, *sighs*. Love this series.

⭐️ 5 | 🌶️ 2

This book was so good! The beginning had me laughing nonstop, everything Quinn said at the parents’ meeting and then her antics once she was back in town were hilarious.

Quinn returns to her hometown after resigning from her teaching job. She refused to compromise her curriculum and stood up for her beliefs, so she walked away. Back home, people still remember her as “Hurricane Quinn” because of all her past pranks. But what no one knows is that she’s been having secret hookups with Porter for eight years. Now, working with him at the bar, she tries to resist crossing that line again, but with their chemistry, that’s easier said than done.

Things take a turn when Porter finds a 10-month-old baby girl in his office. Suddenly, he’s a guardian with no idea what to do. Quinn steps in to help, moving in with him so they can care for baby Grace together. But in doing so, they both agree their relationship has to stop… which, of course, is impossible with their connection.

Porter completely stole my heart. Abandoned by his mom, raised by his dad, and terrified of repeating his parents’ failed marriage, he never thought he wanted more than casual. But the way he stepped up for Grace, and the way he’s always secretly crushed on Quinn, proved he’s the real deal. He was scared, yes, but he took responsibility and, with Quinn’s support, became the best dad figure for Grace.

I loved watching them balance their feelings, raising Grace while trying not to cross the line. The respect between them, their care for one another, and Porter’s quiet awe for Quinn made their love story so special. And when they did finally cross that line? Perfection. (Also… limo scene? Yes, please! 🔥)

The romance was sweet, the spice was on point, and the side characters—the Banks siblings, were just as lovable as ever. Seeing the family embrace Porter and Grace was heartwarming.

There’s no third-act breakup, which I adored. Instead, Quinn finds her place in town, landing her dream job as a librarian teacher and realizing she belongs right where she once thought she’d never stay. Porter standing up for her against the town mean girl was another highlight, he doesn’t play when it comes to protecting his family.

Overall, this book was adorable, heartfelt, and so worth the read. This series just keeps getting better, and I can’t wait for book four!

Roommate’s Guide to Love

📚 Summary:

Quinn alway felt like an outcast in her family. But what she felt she lacked in looks, she made up for in her jokes and pranks. Quinn never did grow out of her pranking faze, or allowing bullies to be jerks. She moved her life away from Rolling Hills to become a teacher in Arizona. When she finally decides she has had enough from the “mean moms” at her school, she quits and goes back to the one place she never thought she would move back to.

Now, Quinn must pick up the pieces and try to put her life back together. What will she do for work, where will she live, and will she decide to order some “chicken wings” now that she might be home for good?

Porter, the local bar owner, Quinn’s high school crush, and the guy who she has secretly been hooking up with for the past eight years is shocked to see that she has moved back home.

Porter’s life has been turned upside down. First his crush has moved back home and then a mysterious baby is dropped off at his bar. Unable to do this on his own, Quinn becomes his roommate. First rule: No more orders for “chicken wings”. Or are rules just made to be broken?

📚 Thoughts:

While reading this book, Quinn seemed to remind me so much of Chelle. Between her humor and her love of reading, I pictured Chelle the whole time. How funny was it to me when I saw that she based Quinn on herself. Quinn was funny and also so vulnerable. I loved reading and learning more about her.

I was a teacher for 12 years, so I understood her frustration with the school system and missing your students because they become your family.

The epilogue had me in tears. Chelle always finds a way to do that to me in the end.

I knew Porter would wind up with a child (peep the cover), but was unsure how it would happen. Needless to say, I was shooketh.

Their relationship felt natural and loved how they got to know each other more as they started to navigate living together. Their loved didn’t feel rushed because of their history for one another.

Again, the sibling chats killed me and loved getting more from each of the Banks crew. I am so excited to learn more about Ainsley. She seems so quiet and demure, but I feel like that girl can get freaky!!! It’s always the quiet ones 😜

Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Chelle Sloan for the opportunity to read this ARC.
