A steamy butch/femme lesbian romance novella from a new voice in queer fiction
Harper is flying to her best friend's wedding as the hottest androgynous "bridesmaid" anyone has ever seen. She can't wait to go, but also can't deny that traveling for the wedding is bringing up all kinds of feelings for her—namely, wishing she had a wedding date who was going with her.
Her expectations are high for the wedding, but she's not expecting much out of the travel. When the Colorado snow delays and then temporarily cancels her flight, she considers it more of a hindrance than anything. Until she meets Emmy, that is.
Emmy is on her way to an academic conference, which Harper can't help but be charmed by. She's smart, funny...and very much into Harper. Or least, Harper is pretty sure that she is.
What initially starts off as playful flirting quickly turns into something much hotter—but where can two girls find the room to fool around somewhere as public as an airport?
Josie Mae (she/her) is a lesbian who writes sapphic romance. She’s a sports romance girl through and through despite being generally unathletic, and she says y’all far too much for being a city girl. She has worked a million odd jobs, lived a million different lives, and wants to live for a million more years. Josie writes all of her books with her small but mighty chiweenie, Baby Mae, by her side.
Cute little novella with an adorable premise of “airport crush.” It’s single POV from Harper’s perspective. I wish there had been more of a physical description of each character, as I had a pretty hard time picturing them in my head. But it was cute and sweet and a little bit spicy. Nice little, low angst read.
I wanted to enjoy this but found the inner monologue and thoughts to drag and be too long and I just didn't connect with the romance the way I'd hoped.
I wrote the book so I'm obviously very proud of it. LAID OVER is a really silly, simple novella. There isn't much in terms of character work or plot. It's a little taste of escapism, something for people who need a break from reality for an hour or two. I loved writing it and can't wait to share more projects with you all moving forward (more of the full-length novel variety this time).
Thank you for reading and leaving reviews. It is so deeply appreciated.
80% of this book only happens in the main characters head. It's sorely lacking in events but worse, she has mote conversations in her head than she did with her romantic interest. I felt like there was more personality and interest when she interacted with her bestie, which feels wrong for a romance.
I absolutely loved this book. I finished it in one sitting. It’s the perfect read for a snow day. I loved Harper and Emmy and their meet cute. Five stars I highly recommend this book.
