I read this book b/c I was told Jesperson outlined actual details of his killing spree. He did do this, but it was a bit disjointed. The author he used-must not have corrected his poor spelling or grammar. I was disappointed Jesperson didn’t get more into the “why” of his killing. He kind of explained why he snapped on the first one, but not why he continued or had to be so gruesome near the end-dragging bodies behind his big rig. I guess one can infer that since he got away with it the first time, he would continue to get away with it. Also one could infer that he killed his victims after he raped them so they would not be witness to the crime.
It was clear from his sexual prowess that he did not need to rape women- they were readily available to willingly give it up at his truck stops, etc.
Although it was unsaid, I think one can assume that he enjoyed the cat and mouse game with authorities, that is - until he got caught. He certainly didn’t value human life until he started feeling sorry for his own self.
Also, the book dragged when he went on and on about jobs he had and got fired from. He put way more detail in those endeavors, than the actual murders.
I also hoped to read more about his interactions with his own family. I know he visited them b/c I read his daughter’s book. He spoke more of the families he hooked up with after his divorce from his ex-wife. Also, I was curious if he actually did consider confessing his murders to his daughter (before he was arrested) - as she claimed in her book - and killing her after (as she said - he allegedly told his father), but he didn’t broach that subject.
