Defended by Bama

Rate this book
Brooklyn thought she’d finally made a smart decision when she met the handsome officer. He was everything any woman would caring, thoughtful, and protective. Being a cop suited him. After a whirlwind romance and getting pregnant within a year, she thought she would have the life she always dreamed of.

The dream slowly shattered once she moved in, and his true colors gradually came to the surface. After several years of things getting progressively worse, and more violent, she realized she couldn’t let her daughter be in that environment anymore.

But instead of finding help and support, she was repeatedly met with judgment, shame, and blame. Having nowhere to turn, she was left at his mercy, and he was not forgiving. Nobody believed her and nobody would help. It wasn’t until a chance encounter with a kind woman that she had the chance to finally break free.

Bama was a simple man. He’d been up the road, but nothing major and it probably wasn’t the last time he’d go. When he got out, a childhood friend offered him a spot in his new club and the chance to help him build it up. It was too good an offer to pass up. There wasn’t much left for him in his hometown, so he headed to Mobile to start a new life.

After the club was finally up and running, he fell into a routine and was happy to be part of something bigger than himself. But Bama’s new normal was disrupted on his way home from a quick job. A frantic woman with a child flagged him down at a gas station, stopping him because of the logo on his cut. His MC had ways to help women and children in those situations, and he knew exactly who to call. Her fresh bruises made it clear why she stopped him. Even if the club couldn’t help, he wouldn’t have turned her away.

After getting them settled at his place, he got the ball rolling. But she needed somewhere to hide until it all got handled, so he offered for them to stay with him. While they waited on what she needed to start a new life, he learned more about her, and why she was running. The longer they stayed, the more Bama found himself feeling a sense of fullness he didn’t know he was missing. He also envisioned vengeance on their behalf.

When her past catches up with her, Brooklyn fears she may not be able to ever get away from her nightmare. But Bama would do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant losing everything.

What a Ride!

**Defended by Bama** is the first book in the exciting new series **Royal Bastards MC: Mobile Chapter**, and it takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride with Bama and Brooklyn, aka “Linny,” as they navigate their journey to a happily ever after. When Brooklyn and her sweet little daughter, Sadie “Sophie,” cross paths with Allie, everything starts to change for the better. She finally escapes her abusive ex, Marshall, and meets Allie's brother, Bama. He’s part of the Royal Bastards MC, a group dedicated to helping women start fresh with new identities.

From the moment Bama meets Linny and Sophie, he knows he has to protect them and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. At first, Bama and Linny try to ignore the chemistry between them because of how they met, but soon, they can't resist the connection, and the sparks really start to fly!

This was my first time reading a book by this author, and she’s definitely made it onto my must-read list! I loved how relatable and likable all the characters were, not just the main ones but the supporting cast as well. I’m a big fan of stories about found families who look out for each other, and that’s exactly what this MC does—a true brotherhood along with their old ladies that supports one another like family.

I found myself laughing, crying, and even wanting to scream at various parts of the book. The twists and drama kept me on the edge of my seat, and before I knew it, I had reached the end! I can’t wait for the next installment in the series!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh my word! So far this story is my favorite that April has written. It grabbed a hold of me from the beginning, I was so engrossed I didn’t want to put the book down.

I loved the characters in this story. Brooklyn is trying to start a new life with her daughter Sadie and get away from her abuser. She was introduced to Bama and he will do everything in his power to protect them. The chemistry between them was off the charts. Their story had my emotions all over the place. My heart was pulled in all different directions. There were many times I was at edge of my seat. And that ending!! Gah!

April’s writing is one of my favorites. It is always at a perfect pace and descriptive writing just sucks you into the story. Makes you feel as you are a side character yourself taking it all in. She is definitely an author where if I see her name, I’m gonna buy her damn book. Loved this one!

What a ride this book takes you on. Man - Brooklyn/Linny has been through it and was just such a strong FMC. Her courage and strength was amazing for everything she went through. Bama was just wonderful for her and Sadie/sofie. Sofie was just the sweetest. Loved seeing Bama and linny get their HEA. I’m excited to see where this series is headed after meeting all these characters.

This was my first read for this series but it very much felt like a standalone, even if I’m now super curious and keen to read the others.
This was not my first April D Berry book though and I loved seeing cameos from characters I enjoyed getting to know in her other series.
This was a predictable but nonetheless very enjoyable read. It’s currently 1:15am and I should definitely be asleep but I needed to know how this ended.
I loved watching Brooklyn come into her own and embrace her new self.
Bama was a fantastic morally grey book boyfriend.
I loved that the MC club business was key to the story without taking over. The side characters were all great and added so much.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Let me start out by saying this book put me on a emotional roller coaster. It made my laugh, cry and made me mad as hell at one point. Would I do it all over again absolutely, it was so worth it.The story is about BAMA, who is an absolute hunk, Brooklyn and her daughter Sadie. Bama and Brooklyn meet in a very unconventional way but it works for them. They are complete opposites , she’s a stay at home mom and Bama is biker. There so many twist and turns with these two it keeps you on your toes. My favorite quote from the book will give you a little insight to there relationship. “ I’m uncomfortable because I don’t know how I feel the way I do. I’m uncomfortable because I haven’t felt things I’m feeling in a long time and none of it makes sense. And I’m uncomfortable because I wanted you to kiss me and you didn’t. And now I’m really uncomfortable because I just said all of that out loud.”
On a spice level I give it 3 peppers. April Berry really out did herself on this one. So go get Bama you won’t regret it.

Omg I’m sitting here still reeling from the twist of this amazing story. Bama was a bad boy biker until fate and his sister dealt him a hand called Brooklyn and Sadie. She was in an abusive relationship with a ahole cop Marshall. A chance meeting with Allie changed the trajectory of her life. Bama was to deliver the packages safely to Roger’s at the RBMC in Alabama. His group R.O.Y.A.L.S helped women like Brooklyn start over. Once Bama helped her and Sadie he was hooked. The new emerging of Linny and Sophie meant no turning back for Bama. Will life be smooth now, will Marshall find them? You have to read this 5⭐️ book to find out. Excellent writing, twist and turns that will have you laughing, crying, screaming and throwing your book. Great story with some good spice. If you love romance, second chance, motorcycle men (swoon) this is a must read.

“Your existence is important to me.” 😩🙌

Overall: 5 ⭐️
Spice: 2 🌶️

Brooklyn was in an abusive relationship and shared a daughter, Sadie, with her abuser. She kept taking it day in and day out, until Allie and Bama got involved and gave her a safe way out. He made sure them two were taken care of by ANY means necessary. Glenda, you will grow to love is a true friend to Brooklyn, it’s shown with each interaction.

Without giving too much away, I will say this book will have you on the edge of your couch cushion and fighting back tears at the end. It’s THAT GOOD. I am always impressed with April’s books. I can’t wait to read about Glenda next.

This was the first book by April I've read and it most certainly won’t be my last! I was immediately pulled into the story.

This book had everything I look for: a heroine with a heartbreaking abusive past, a powerful chance encounter, and a slow burn romance that felt raw and real.

There were moments that made me tear up, and others that had me cheering for the characters’. There's a perfect blend of grit and heart.

I highly recommend this book to fans of MC romance, Dark Romance and to the ones who love a good emotional read that has you spinning when you're done.

If you love sexy, overprotective bikers then this one is for you! I was instantly invested in this book and had to find out what happened with Brooklyn, Bama, and Sadie!

Brooklyn and her daughter Sadie are living with an abusive/dirty cop and are desperate for a new life when Allie introduces her brother Bama as the one who’s going to get them to safety and their new life. The heat between Bama and Brooklyn is instant and palpable to everyone around them. Once he’s got Brooklyn and Sadie he’s going to make sure he does everything possible to protect them.

If I didn’t have to sleep and work I probably would have finished sooner! I didn’t not want to put this book down!
The raw emotions of the characters and love and even the club life was perfection! This book was a ride! The ending! Oh the ending! I absolutely love this book! I do recommend reading the trigger warnings before reading as it is graphic in many ways and may be too much for some readers.

I have read all of April’s books and every time I’m blown away by how amazing it is! Ngl I teared up a few times so definitely check triggers but the way April handles these situations and the Bama just steps up for *everything* is amazing and I will never not recommend this book! Everyone needs to see how a big bad biker gets t wrapped around the finger of a little girl and her beautiful mama! 10/10 wonderful and amazing in every way 🥰🥰

This book was so GOOD!! I could not put it down. The only reason it took 2 days was because my eyes were burning. It was such a good story and could totally be a stand alone but you will want to follow everyone in their journeys.
I don’t want to give anything away but if you like MC stories this is a Must! You will also need to check out April’s Destiny’s Enforcers Series.
The Epilogue is the Perfect end to this book.

I SO LOVED IT!!

Defended by Bama is the first instalment in April D Berry's contemporary, adult RBMC: Mobile AL, erotic, MC romance series, a part of the multi-authored RBMC. This is twenty-seven year old RBMC enforcer Brandon aka Bama, and single mother Brooklyn aka Linny’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bama and Brooklyn) DEFENDED BY BAMA focuses on the rescue and protection of our story line heroine. Single mother Brooklyn needs help. A victim of her boyfriend’s temper and abuse, our heroine and her four year old daughter Sadie, with the help of a ‘friend’, find themselves under the protection of the RBMC in Mobile Alabama, but more so the house guests of club enforcer Bama. As Brooklyn and Sadie establish a new routine both in and out of the RBMC, a trip to a bike rally tips the scales, placing a target on our heroine’s back.

The world building follows Brooklyn and Sadie as they settle into their new lives and new identities, in an effort to stay under the radar and the man who fathered Brooklyn’s daughter but her ex Marshall is a police office with friends in all of the wrong places, placing the RBMC on the Bloody Scorpions MC radar. Falling for Brooklyn had never crossed Bama’s mind until the chemistry between pushed them together.

The relationship between Bama and Lanny as she will soon be called is one of protector and charge but quickly turns into something more. Bama never thought he would find his own happily ever after, the club is newly established, and our hero will be the first to find someone to love. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the introduction of the members of the RBMC: Alabama: president Hammer, VP Rogers, OG Ollie, SAA Butterbean, Leigh, IT Breaker, Froggy, Fox, Tail Gunner Deg, Treasurer Bruno, Glenda, Bama’s sister Allie; Brooklyn’s our year old daughter Sadie, and her ex Marshall Jones. The requisite evil has many faces.

DEFENDED BY BAMA is a story of power and control, abuse and survival, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is heart breaking, emotional and powerful; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined, purposeful and dynamic.

Check TW!!!!

MC romance is definitely one of top genres I really enjoy!

Brooklyn hasn’t had an easy life with her abusive cop husband and wants to leave and take her daughter Sadie with her. She meets Allie who offers to help her get away and while he’s at work she makes her move.

Allie recruits her brother, Bama, the mc enforcer, to come pick up a “package” but little does he know he’s picking up the girls to help get them somewhere safe. From the moment he meets them he feels connected to them and wants to protect them.

She of course can’t help but feel things for this hot and sweet biker that is taking care of them. As things keep heating up between them she finally starts feeling safe and relaxed until of course her ex has to go and ruin that.

I loved Linny & Bama so much and of course Sofie 😉 this fast paced romance is perfect for anyone that loves mc’s and the not so legal things they do but he’s the biggest softie for his girls. So much happens in this book and the ending is wild. Don’t worry it’s a HEA 😂

Glenda is one of my favorite characters! Her support throughout the whole book was amazing and I loved that she was a true friend for Linny the whole time!

I LOVED seeing that epilogue at the end it was the perfect way to end the book!!

If you’ve read Aprils DEMC series you’ll see someone you already love pop up as well!! ❤️

My sweet and spicy author has stepped over to the dark side. Ok ok maybe the grey side. But for her it’s a big leap. I’m talking about April D. Berry and her Defended by Bama book that just came out. It’s so freaking good!! She’s been my go to when I need something light hearted and spicy. And now she comes with trigger warnings!! Just kidding…she’s always had trigger warnings cause she cares about your mental health!

Defended by Bama is about a mom who is married to an abuser. And when things go too far she knows she needs to get out and get her daughter to safety. She runs into Bama’s sister who decides to help her by calling him. He may be a rough and tough biker but neither he nor the club likes women and children being abused. After the long drive to Alabama, he decides he wants to keep her.

This is a story of tough decisions, found family, healing, and let’s throw in a bit of spice. The characters are tough as nails and lovable. Even the side characters. The writing is top notch. I didn’t want to put it down. If you’re looking for your next possessive, tough biker but really a big softy to his woman…you need to read this book!

Holy crap balls batman 😳. This was so freaking good. Brooklyn is with a piece of shit that thinks he's a man. She has a sassy little girl named Sadie. After one to many near fatal beatings, Brooklyn finally gets it in her head to run. With the help of Allie and R.O.Y.A.L. she gets away from the cop. Yeah, go figure. Bama is Allie's brother, and he's in the Royal Bastards MC Mobile, Alabama chapter. Ok, you with me so far? Good. This one had action, drama, and romance with a side of cuteness. Sadie was adorable. The friends that Brooklyn meets are true friends, especially Glenda. I can't wait to read her story, but it looks like I'll have to,big sigh. Anyway, I absolutely loved how Bama was so patient with Brooklyn and Sadie. I think they both fell at around the same time, but neither did anything right away, which I liked. Bama wanted Brooklyn to heal not just her body but her mind, too. I liked the action with the MC that's always important to me when you read these books. I absolutely recommend this book. This was my first time reading this author, but it definitely won't be the last time. April Berry's writing followed beautifully and was very enjoyable to read.

Bama meets Brooklyn and her sweet baby girl when she’s getting help leaving her abusive baby daddy. His MC assists abused and battered women, helps them leave and disappear from their abusers, and I love that. His sister, who cracks me up, is the one that reaches out to save her, and he is the pick up. Brooklyn is very weary of him at first, because of his size, but learns quickly he is a sweetheart. He is so sweet and thoughtful of her and her baby girl, it just melted my heart.

Fast paced read with plenty of wtaf moments. If you’re an MC fan I definitely think this book is for you. Plenty of wild action and drama filled moments. There is some abuse and other not to savory moments, thankfully it’s not detailed or graphic, which I definitely appreciated. Lots of chemistry with these two, and he was most definitely a hungry guy. An epilogue that will leave you wanting more, and a hea.

Bama is an unsuspecting Hero that I fell in love with! He's has his demons and he rides with the Royal B's, but he has a heart of gold and will do whatever he can to protect Brooklyn and her daughter.

Brooklyn thought she found her HEA, but the man that she's living with and has a daughter with has been hiding his true self and now she needs to get them both out and away from the man. He's a cop and is protected by his badge and his friends. The Blue Wall.

I loved how Sadie just seemed to know that Bama was not going to hurt her or her mother. They say kids and dogs know how to tell if someone is good or not.😊 I loved how Bama was patient, gentle, and caring with both Sadie and Brooklyn. His patience was key to getting them both to be his and he was willing to fight for them both, no matter what it cost him.

I loved the book and I look forward to more in this chapter.

Defended by Bama is book 1 in the new series Royal Bastards MC; Mobile Alabama chapter written by author April D. Berry. This is the first time I’ve read her books. I had to catch up so I can read her other MC series and other books. As soon as I started reading, I knew, I found another author whose books would be on my to read list. This book followed the main characters Bama and Brooklyn aka “Linny” plus little cutie Sadie aka “Sophie''. He's the enforcer for the RBMC in Mobile, Alabama. The action and suspense keep me sucked in but also the chemistry between Linny and Bama were off the charts. There are great second characters and a lot of dangerous situations that they had to overcome but they were able to finally have their HEA. I'm excited to find out what happens next with Glenda and Leigh's love story.

GO BUY, Bama you won’t regret it!!!

The sister of a Royal Bastard MC member calls her brother (Bama) for help. Brooklyn and her daughter, Sadie are "the help". I enjoy these types of stories women who learn just how strong they are. Don't mess with them. I so love these men who will burn the world down to ensure no one harms or makes their woman feel small again. They make me laugh, cry, yell and scream because getting to their HEA / HFN shouldn't be so difficult. Yes, I do know they are fictional characters. I need Allie's (the sister) story now!

I was honored to get an ARC (advanced reader copy) and this is an honest review.

Absolutely OBSESSED

I'm Absolutely OBSESSED with Defended by Bama! April D Berry brought the 🔥🔥 with this sizzling Romance that had me hooked from page one. The way she wove together the world of the Royal Bastards MC with the intense, all-consuming love story between her leads had me devouring every word. The characters are complex, relatable, and utterly captivating - I fell hard for both the hero and heroine, and the supporting cast stole my heart too. Berry's writing is raw, gritty, and unapologetic, just like the MC world she's brought to life. If you're a fan of motorcycle club romances, you NEED this book in your life... Definitely Your Next 5⭐️ Read..

I really appreciated the storyline in general and especially the happy ending—it tied things together in a satisfying way. However, I struggled with how the multiple rape situations were handled. They were brushed over in a way that didn’t seem to realistically affect Brooklyn/Linny, which made it harder for me to connect with her journey. Some of the writing felt a bit plain at times, and the occasional heavy use of descriptions tended to pull me out of the story instead of enriching it.

That said, the overall plot was engaging, and I did enjoy the read. Despite my reservations, I would still recommend this book to others who are looking for a unique storyline with a rewarding conclusion.

I received this book as an ARC.
I instantly fell in love with Bama, Brooklyn (Linny), and Little Sadie (Sofie). They had an instant attraction to one another, but because of the abusive circumstances of how they met, they fought it. I love how protective Bama was with both of them. When Brooklyn (Linny) found herself getting hurt and kidnapped by a rival club (hired by her abusive ex),Bama and the club came to the rescue. This book got me in my feelings for sure ( swooning, crying, etc). I can't wait for next in the series. Thank you, Ms. Berry

I feel like I asked and April D. Berry delivered! I knew she was adding some more darkness into this story than she has in her previous books, but dang I was still shocked.
I mean I gasped
I definitely shed a tear or two
And I loved every second of this book.
Still finding ways to add in the right touch of rom-com-y goodness with some sass and snark too! These characters gave me all the feels as they dealt in the darkness and faught their way through to the light.
I cannot wait to see what April D. Berry has coming next.

read this book

Wow! April did it again and wrote hell of a MC book. I love how her women are strong willed and don’t take crap.
Brooklyn had been submissive at first because of her last relationship. But once she came out of her shell and found herself man she’s a force to be reckoned with. Bama protects what’s his and what made him hotter was how he fell in love with her daughter and played the dad role pretty quickly.
I love all of April’s books, but this one may very well be my favorite so far.

I loved this book. If I hadn't been busy with real-life stuff, I know it's one I would have finished in one sitting. There are some moments with possibly triggering heavier stuff but written in a respectful and not gratuitous way, which I appreciate. I loved getting a pov chapter from unexpected character, which added to the charm of this story. I look forward to reading the next one Guarding Glenda.

I could not put this book down, it grabbed me and sunk its teeth in as soon as I started reading. This book there was no escaping it until that last page was finished. It moves along at apace that made for an easy and enjoyable read. Has characters that you will love, no matter what happens or what they need to do, you are there for them. This book will not disappoint and needs to be on your TBR shelf. No doubt about it. A must read.
