2.0 RATING- You know how you can come across a book that has semi-good ratings/reviews and after reading it leaves you questioning if everyone's lost their freaking mind? Yep, that's this book for me. I'm wondering if we've all gone dodo for alphas and will accept the crappiest books as acceptable to meet our bossy/dominator quota. This was just not good. At all. If I hear anyone else call someone "lover" I'm going to cut a bitch. That's because that word appears 156 times in this book. No lie. I checked. I'm not sure how others are rating it so high but this just didn't work for me at all. I won't be reading more from this author.

DAMN!!!, this author was not playing, when she sat down to write an erotic novel. From start to end this book was dripping of pure and raw sex, my eyes started to hurt at one point and it felt like they were sexercising ( not a word but you get my point). That's how often Evvie and Brett wanted each other. The first chapter pretty much sets the tone and pace for the whole book, and the intense chemistry between Brett and Evvie. I have not rated a book D.R.I.P in a long time and this book was well deserving of it.
I have to start by saying what an opening that greets the reader. Brett was scary intense, but I like his kind of scary in my reads now and then, aggressive, sexy and rough around the edges. Not everyone can do aggressive well and not over do it. Brett's character is the owner of a bar. He likes things done his way and he has flirting down to a science. I loved the way he flirted aka made attempts in temping Evvie. Evvie is breaking into her own. She has over protective brothers, hence, no boyfriends in her life. The relationship between Evvie and Brett was intense, troubled and as quickly as it started, is as quickly as trouble followed. I do a admit that their romance was quick but it fit the story and what the author was doing with the characters, showing the possessiveness and crazy attraction Evvie and Brett had.
Ok, now, I will play devil's advocate in a paragraph. I enjoyed this story, however, for some readers, they might find the continuous sex over bearing and a bit much. Sometimes the sex took over the plot of the story, but not all the time. You will either love this story and its characters or you will not be impress.
Overall, a good read for my personal taste. I was never bored and was truly entertained from start to finish. However, I am not a fan majority of the time of a continuous series with the same characters, so let's see how the author concludes Evvie and Brett's story in Torn book 2.

Let me start with this was a cute and quick read.. We have this tall alpha bar/club owner that doesn't do relationships.. and then we have our heroine who is crushing on this alpha..he makes a proposition one night is all..
What I didn't like is, he was too cocky, I know these alpha's mostly are but he was just too friggin much.. Going on and on about how she will forget any other man she's ever been with if she just gives him this one night..bla bla bla.. She went from this strong woman (in my eyes atleast) to this half nag, half bore, total doormat..
Anyhoo, now one night turned into a few, and he is still a complete dikk however now he is a dikk with a nickname for our heroine and it's (drum-rolls) LOVER!
I swear to you not, I could have dealt with honey, baby, babe, honeypot and so on but Lover???
Give me a break!!!
There is atleast a good 150 lover references.

This was a pretty good read. Brett MacLean who is a playboy and successful club/bar owner. He is controlling, arrogant and when he wants something he usually gets it. He has women in and out like a revolving door. That is until he meets his new bartender Evvie Neal. Evvie is tough she was raised by four over protective men three brothers and her Dad she had to be tough. Sparks fly when these two meet she was approached by him, and her co-worker was asked who the hell she was, when she stood her ground and told him she was the new bartender and continued to mouth off and argue with him. Evvie is the first woman that Brett has loved the sex scenes between these two are hot they each have secrets that they are hiding. This was my first time reading this author and this is book one in a new series too me. I really liked Evvie from the get go Brett not so much but he warmed up to me. This book was a little long at times but it was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Now you see, about 6/7 months ago I read this book and I stopped reading at about.. ehh 47%. Lately I've been in a really bad rut with not finding a book/series to read.. so I turned back to this book trying to figure out why I stopped reading it. Of course, I didn't remember anything that happened in this book so I restarted it and I finally realized why I stopped reading it but at the same time I didn't.. Does that make sense?
Basically this story seemed like my cup of tea, I mean hot, young, millionaire bad boy that owns a club and female heroine working at the club. Chemistry off the charts.. This seems like the kind of book I WOULD LOVE! So why didn't I love it..?
I feel like it was the writing and it was kind of the female heroine. I forced myself to finish it and I guess I'll finish the rest of the series.. SOMEONE HELP ME GET OUT OF THIS RUT!!

I think this book had a lot of potential. The story was there but I feel it was skidded over for the sex. The chemistry was hot, the sex scorching you could feel their need. I needed more for the story to get me there. I am still not sure if I like Bretts personality. I did like him at the end but it took me until the end to find something redeeming about him. Evvie I did like. She came from a family that had some problems. I felt she was strong and mature. Dont get me wrong this story was not horrible and if your just looking for a sexy read you will love this book. The sex was passionate, intense and erotic. I was just let wanting for something more meaningful...

This book is so adorable ^^ I have read the authors previous two books

... I fell in love with her writing :D
This book does not contain much of BDSM but yes Brett our main hero has gone through lot of abuses when he was just a kid. This book touches on issues like PTSD and Dominance :)
Now getting on with the story, I must say Evvie has been such a strong heroine ^^ the way she was feisty yet giving into Brett's demand *Phew* and can this guy get any hotter *wink*
Brett: Alpha/Club Owner/Possessive/Sweet/Caring
He meets Evvie for the 1st time in his club. She is a bartender there. He propositions her to spend one night with him. She refuses his advance and it excites Brett. He doesn't give up and eventually get what he wants :D
What is amazing is that he is the 1st one to confess his feelings to Evvie ;) and that is such a sweet and a tender moment
He is strong and fights for Evvie to accept her feelings for him :P
Evvie: Caring/Gentle/Nurturing/Feisty
She is sweet but yet knows what she wants. She submits to Brett but only in Bedroom. Outside she is a women of her own. She is grown up in a family of men i.e midst of her father and brother. She knows when to stand up and at times stands up for Brett too.
Towards the end of the book things come out, complicates stuff for the couple but they come out of all the issue. Yes they have to learn to trust eachother but that is for the 2nd book ;)

Brett! Brett! Brett!!! I am in love with this man. The TORN trilogy by JM Walker seeped into my soul. This is the first books that I have ever reread. “Possessed by You,” “Revealed by You,” and “Perfected by You” are truly amazing. Take this journey with Walker and be prepared to have your heart and soul touched in many ways.
Brett is an ALPHA male who has been hurt and nearly destroyed by the loss of what he thought was love. He finds out that LOVE comes in the form of a feisty female named Evvie. When Brett presented his proposition for just a night of sex with him, Evvie wasn’t sure. I WAS!! I wanted to jump in the pages and say move over girl.
As women, we often find ourselves trying to nurture and fix the problems of others. I think that is why we are drawn to men who seem to be broken. Evvie has her own issues that need to be fixed as well. Brett and Evvie work to help each other in “unconventional” ways but oh so very heated and mouthwatering ways! Their journey is full of heart ache and happiness both. Evvie takes everything that Brett dishes out. She allows him to have his reign over her body and still remains a strong female. This I truly found awe inspiring.
I was sucked into these pages of all 3 books in this trilogy. I am sure that only reading them all twice will not be enough. I had the worst book hangover after reading the second time that I couldn’t pick up another book for weeks. Also, when Walker’s SHATTERED series comes back to Amazon. It is a must read as well. You will learn in detail what had broken and shattered Brett.

This is a good novel if you need a steamy sexy jealous possessive alpha male fix. This is not a good novel if you are looking to find superior writing, an intriguing plot, and details of any sort. Thankfully I am enjoying it for what it is worth but have like a million questions about things that are left unsaid: what happened to put Evvie's Dad in jail? How did Evvie come to work in the bar (college?)? Why isn't more said about the relationship Evvie has with Kane? How did Brent get to own a club at such a young age? Hell, what does Evvie look like or dress like? You get the picture. Continuing to book 2 for the sex/dirty talk alone (beginning to introduce mild BDSM), can't go wrong for a freebie read.

I love the way Jo-Anna writes, it is like I was hypnotized. Her writing pleased me, it also make me horny as hell. Oh Gosh, I fucking love Brett. I love this story, Evvie is the best, I like that she is not the typical girl, she is UNIQUE, she knows what she wants and goes for it. She is brave and fights for what she wants. Her life was not easy, she can be strong, but she has her moments of weakness.
This is my favourite book. And Jo-Anna is one of my favourites authors. You shoulg give it a try at her books. You will not be dissapointed. I like what you write, many people do not understand, it is not just sex for me (I love the hot steamy scenes you write, keep doing that, next time I read your books I will not wear panties) I love your characters and all the bullshit they have. No one is perfect, we are who we are. We do not need to change to be loved.
I am enchanted, fascinated, delighted, and captivated by your work. I can keep on saying words, but they will never be enough.

This is a breaking point. Brett is not telling Evvie the truth, and he breaks her. Will she recover? He will tell her some of his demons, but there are others that will remain hidden in the dark.

4 Stars - 3 Flames
As I play catch up with some authors I enjoy, I realized that I haven't yet experienced this series. And since it looks like the author is getting ready to release a "spin off" of Brett, I only found it fitting that I dive in to this series so I'm prepared when that one comes out.
I have to say that this is a pretty good intro to a series. There's plenty of sex and lust to keep you turning the pages, but it's the underlining story that starts to unfold that keeps you invested in reading.
Brett is a club owner who's dominating ways are well known throughout the club and town. To say he has a reputation would be grossly understated. But it appears that he's willing to change his ways for the new bartender. But not without some serious drama.
Evvie is the new bartender. She's young and beautiful. She's also been raised by overprotective brothers and a father who's done just about anything (including jail time) to help the family after losing his wife. So when her new overbearing boss tries pulling the dominating act, she doesn't exactly fall for it. Well....she doesn't "try" to fall for it. But lets face it. It's Brett.
As I mentioned earlier. Lots of sex and lust in this installment. But that's expected when the author categorizes it as Erotic Romance. The story line took a little long to develop, but there was just enough to keep me intrigued and ready for more. Speaking of more. I can only imagine what's in store for these two. Something tells me that this toxic relationship has just begun.
As I play catch up with some authors I enjoy, I realized that I haven't yet experienced this series. And since it looks like the author is getting ready to release a "spin off" of Brett, I only found it fitting that I dive in to this series so I'm prepared when that one comes out.
I have to say that this is a pretty good intro to a series. There's plenty of sex and lust to keep you turning the pages, but it's the underlining story that starts to unfold that keeps you invested in reading.
Brett is a club owner who's dominating ways are well known throughout the club and town. To say he has a reputation would be grossly understated. But it appears that he's willing to change his ways for the new bartender. But not without some serious drama.
Evvie is the new bartender. She's young and beautiful. She's also been raised by overprotective brothers and a father who's done just about anything (including jail time) to help the family after losing his wife. So when her new overbearing boss tries pulling the dominating act, she doesn't exactly fall for it. Well....she doesn't "try" to fall for it. But lets face it. It's Brett.

HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!!!
This book put me through the ringer. Just reading over my notes right now before writing this review had the hair on the back of my neck standing up and I wanted to choke the living shit out of Brett once again. There is a lot going on in this book so pay attention... I do have to say that this book has some of the steamiest sex scenes I've ever read. That still doesn't change the fact that I want to choke Brett and kick him in the balls a few times!
Brett is all kinds of fucked up. He's mysterious, he's possessive, he's sexy, but above all he is messed up in the head. All this bullshit of I love you and I need you was getting under my skin and I just wanted to slap him across the face with a pitchfork. I get that he's got issues and a past that can't be ignored however some of the things he said and did to Evvie I will never forgive him. He can be so sweet and then his asshole side comes out and you're thrown for a loop. My jury is still out on him!
Evvie also has a fucked up past and a messed up family. She has a father in jail, a brother who's in and out of jail, and the other two brothers I'm not sure where they're headed. I know that she loves Brett and that she finally opened her heart to him but her issues with trust and his dumbass ways might permanently prevent them from being together. Ugh!
Great supporting character cast. All of Evvie's brothers, Evan, Everett, and Ethan are everything I expected them to be. Very over bearing and overprotective where their little sister is concerned. Even Kane, Evvie's friend seemed to take on the protective big brother role when her brothers weren't around. I must say that even Claire made the story that much better being the huge slut that she is. Every story needs a villain and I'm fairly certain Claire fit that bill.
This story is not necessarily dealing with too many dark subjects, however it's not for the faint of heart either. The characters are likeable and very relatable. The writing style was effortless to read and very unique. There are too many highs and lows to actually mention but I do love the break up scene.. it really pulled at my heartstrings. The pacing was spot on and I struggle to put it down. The tension leading to the climax was ideal. Great book!

I just finished Possessed by You and I absolutely loved it! Brett and Evie are one of my top couples ever. I can tell you that if you are a fan of the Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day, you will love this. It reminded me of that but had its own appeal. Evie is a bartender and Brett is the owner. Lets just say that sparks fly at their initial meeting! They want each other but Brett doesn't do commitments and Evie doesn't want that but what happens when you cannot help but want to be together even if only for a brief moment. Do you take that chance or do you even acknowledge it? You will have to read and see...

We have Brett the dark, brooding night club owner who has a different women traipsing in and out of his office every night. He's crazy possessive, crazy jealous and loves above everything else to be in control. We know the type don't we ladies! Oh yeah! We also have Evvie the feisty don't take no shit new bartender for "The Red Love". But to have grown up with 3 overprotective older brothers and hard as nails ex cop father you kinda have to grow some of your own female testicles! LOL.
Evvie and Brett notice each other straight away and quite early on in the story Brett propositions Evvie. She does resist at first, she doesn't want to be one of his *ahem* women of the night, but she can't fight the sexual tension and strange connection they have for long and so it begins...
At some points in this book i was a bit like...
But it didn't put me off and so i kept on reading..
Let me just say the sex scenes?
HOT HOT HOT! Damn that boy new some moves! He definitely craves control and although i found some of the things he did in the bedroom a little uncomfortable for me it didn't put me off completely. He definitely has a darker side to him although we haven't see it fully yet. But with his dark side he also has an incredibly sweet side to him which made me just melt... Loved it :)
So through in some crazy psycho ex drama, some fall outs and some hot making up you have our story! So give it a go! I'm moving on to the second book as we speak!

I must begin with Brett MacLean, because I absolutely have a “thing” for sexy, dominating men like Brett. He has issues, which make he behave the way he does, but I find it to be hot as hell. He is the owner of The Red Love, which is where he first notices Evvie and makes it his goal to have her.
Evvie needed a job in the worst way, living with her best friend/roomate Kane and trying to stay out of the radar from her overprotective brothers she begins working at The Red Love. When she first sees Brett, she thinks he is the sexiest guy ever, but also thinks he is an asshole. When Brett propositions Evvie to some “fun” she doesn’t react the way he expects, she makes him work for it. Evvie has trust issues and seeing how many women come in and out of Brett’s office, she knows she can’t trust him.
When Evvie finally gives in to Brett, but not the way he expects their relationship will never be the same. When these two are together it is sexy as hell and you will be anticipating Brett’s next move. When some crazy exes and protective siblings show up , it stirs up some drama and things get even more interesting.
This book had lots of sex, so if that is what you enjoy reading than this is the book for you. I didn’t particularly care for the nickname “Lover” at first but after a while it grew on me. I am interested in seeing what happens next in this trilogy.

Possessed By You is based around a straight talking Evvie Neal and a possessive, dominating night club owner Brett McClean. Evvie starts working at the club alongside her best friend and room-mate Kane. This is where she meets Brett, the attraction is fast and he propositions that they just have casual sex with no strings. Brett wants her from the minute he sees Evvie but he doesn't do relationships and casual sex is what he knows. It doesn't end there though, their casual sex leads to Brett admitting that he is falling for her and wants only her. Evvie finds it hard to believe him. He told her he doesn't do relationships so can can he want her? Brett McClean is a complicated man with a dark past but Evvie believes they can make it work but there are a lot of trust issues on both sides.
The sex scenes are HOT! When i first started reading it, to be honest i thought i wouldn't enjoy it as it tended to be just sex scenes but i was very very wrong. I became addicted to the whole story and Evvie and Brett's relationship. I would have loved to know a bit more about there backgrounds as they both have complicated pasts, especially Brett but i'm hoping book 2 will shed some light on Brett's past and why he is how he is. Will definitely be reading book 2 and i hope i enjoy it as much as this one.

First book I've ever read from J.M. Walker and I've got to say it was a really good read. I couldn't put it down. I had to find out what was going to happen with Evvie and Brett.
Evvie, who was looking for a job, got a job at Club Red where her best friend Kane works at. Not knowing who the owner is and what kind of man he is, she takes the job as a bartender.
The attraction between Evvie and Brett is instant. Evvie tries really hard not to give into Brett's good looks, but her need to give in takes control. Evvie's and Brett's personality clashes at times, with his domineering, controlling and sexual appetite and with Evie's strong willed, optimistic look.
The one thing I didn't like about Evvie was every time they were in a fight or argument, Brett would always use sex and Evvie would forget what they were fighting about and the sexual needs take over. She didn't stand her ground around Brett.
Evvie and Brett have things that need to be worked on between them and they will both try to fight for each other.

What a condescending, arrogant, domineering arse. But oh my god how I love Brett. He knows exactly what and who he wants and he doesn't let anything stand in his way. I loved Evvie too, she really doesn't take any of his shit or his advances. As you can probably tell I have loved this book. I went through all sorts of emotions reading it, I laughed, got angry and yes I even had quite a few tears. What I did enjoy immensely is the banter between the two main characters. They both give as good as they get. I also really enjoyed how Brett can make you swoon with every bloody word from his mouth. I swear I was like putty in his hands.
"You don't own me Brett". He cupped the back of my neck and pulled me closer. "Yes. I. Do". I inhaled a gasp and punched his shoulder. "No, you fucking don't, you don't own any part of me". The tendons in his neck strained against his skin as he glared at me. "Well you fucking own me Evvie. Every single piece of me, mind, body and soul. I am fucking your's".
"I knew from the first moment you kissed me that it was going to be more. I even tried fighting it"
" I control your body. That's it. What I feel for you? It's all you, you're the reason I can't sleep at night, you're the reason I feel this need to consume you when really, it's you that consumes me."

This amazingly hot story is about Brett and Evvie. I was so into this book, I finished it in 6 hours, I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the writing style and how fast paced the story was. Once he convinces Evvie to go on a date with him, everything intensifies. Their relationship is not a normal one. They both push the other, and test the others patience. It's a fun ride to watch.
When families, jobs & ex's get in the way things take a turn for the worse.
The young couple has to make tough choices and decide what is best for each of them.

This was a free download, and wow I have to say I loved it. Brett Maclean is my new hot and sexy Alpha. This story starts with Evvie, she's starting a new job at a club owned by Brett Maclean. He has a reputation for being arrogant, self absorbed and a huge womaniser, taking what he wants and not giving a crap. Evvie understands what kind of man he is but the moment they meet she feels like she needs him in a way that's completely new to her. Not very experienced with men, Evvie is guarded, she's grown up with 3 brothers and a father in jail, she has a history which she doesn't enjoy talking about. Getting on with her job, things change when Brett suggests a proposition that changes the both of them forever. This story, has plenty of twists to keep you entertained, the characters are great and although the plot isn't completely revealed in this initial book, it keeps you hooked, I am looking forward to starting 'Revealed by You' which I also downloaded for free. There are some spelling errors but nothing significant to reduce my rating. I love Brett and although he's a dominating personality, he really knows how to make Evvie feel amazing, they share a great chemistry, and the sex is descriptive and hot as hell. I wasn't sure whether I should blush or take a cold shower. Overall, if you are a lover of FSOG, The Crossfire series, This Man trilogy, you will love this.

I was determined to go to bed at a decent time. I only picked up my Kindle to put it on the charger for the night, but somehow clicked Possessed by You in the process. I thought I would just read a couple pages to see what the writing style was like and then do my actual reading the next day. WRONG! Three hours later, I was done with Possessed by You and I had to force myself to go to sleep without immediately starting Revealed by You. Brett is domineering and frustrating, but his love for Evvie and his intentions seem real. Evvie is a neat chick with a few overprotective males in her life who add to the dynamic of the story. And the story is interesting. There seems to be a lot more going on than has been revealed to us, the reader, but getting to the heart of this story and finding a happy ending for Brett and Evvie is at the top of my list for my summer reading. I am diving into Revealed by You next and I can’t wait to see what drama unfolds for these two lovers. And oh boy, they are enthusiastic lovers. Jo-Anna Walker can write a sex scene. Pair the hot sex with the interesting characters, throw in some drama and you get a great read that will have you one clicking the next book in a hurry.
I was determined to go to bed at a decent time. I only picked up my Kindle to put it on the charger for the night, but somehow clicked Possessed by You in the process. I thought I would just read a couple pages to see what the writing style was like and then do my actual reading the next day. WRONG! Three hours later, I was done with Possessed by You and I had to force myself to go to sleep without immediately starting Revealed by You. Brett is domineering and frustrating, but his love for Evvie and his intentions seem real. Evvie is a neat chick with a few overprotective males in her life who add to the dynamic of the story. And the story is interesting. There seems to be a lot more going on than has been revealed to us, the reader, but getting to the heart of this story and finding a happy ending for Brett and Evvie is at the top of my list for my summer reading. I am diving into Revealed by You next and I can’t wait to see what drama unfolds for these two lovers. And oh boy, they are enthusiastic lovers. Jo-Anna Walker can write a sex scene. Pair the hot sex with the interesting characters, throw in some drama and you get a great read that will have you one clicking the next book in a hurry.

I normally would give an erotic novel about a really possessive and dominant man, full of passion and hotter than hell lovemaking scenes a 5 star rating and call it a day. But when the sex scenes are so abundant and repetitive and the word "lover" is used ad nauseum...well I had to drop one star for making me roll my eyes...and continue on to say that otherwise it was a pretty steamy and entertaining first book in the series about Brett and Evvie. You have the hot, rich bar owner, the hard working and sweet girl who works for him and becomes the object of his affection, the usual assortment of concerned friends, brothers, and a bitch of an EX who just likes to stir up trouble and behave like...well, a bitch!
There is a ton of mystery surrounding Brett and his past and when things are looking up for him and Evvie to be together, all hell breaks loose to cause problems. We do get an HEA of sorts at the end of this book, but there is definitely more up ahead for these two in the next book!
Keep a fan or cold drink handy while reading...whew...you're going to need it!

HOLLY HELL THAT WAS HOT!!! I do have to say, this is one smokin' HOT read! Brett Maclean is MISTER Alpha-Male and he makes sure "HIS" Evvie knows it. Brett puts Evvie on notice that she will beg for him within a week to take her. Yup, it's true, and the poor girl didn't even make it an hour ... it may have been only a few minutes. Lucky Evvie.
The evil Claire from Brett's past is always poking around trying to steal Brett away from Evvie. (Evil Beotch.) There is some drama, but Evvie sees right through the lies and tries to stay strong. I won't give too much away because it really is a good read.
Fair warning, from what I can tell, this is a trilogy. Book 2 is out (which I will be starting PRONTO) but I see no signs of when book 3 will be out. THIS book does not end in a cliffhanger per se, but you definitely know the story isn't finished and there is much more to the story.
If you're in the mood for a smut-tastic book, you've found your book! Excuse me while I go take a cold shower before starting book 2. ENJOY!!!

When I first started reading this book I had no idea I would need a fan. This book is HOT!
Do you like your men a little intense, dark, dominating and a little bit sexy? Then Brett MacLean is the man for you. He is a successful club owner and a total ladies man. When he wants something he will not stop until he gets it.
Evvie Neal, is the new bartender at The Red Love. She was trying to stay away from Brett. There was something that keep her very intrigued in Brett. She was given many warnings from several people to be careful around him. She was your typical girl and didn't listen. She came from a home of very protective men. She has had boyfriends and sex in her past but nothing could prepare her for what Brett wanted to do to her.
Brett and Evvie were a couple that no one could get in between. I found them to be very passionate. They were a hot sexy couple. There were times where I was swooning and then times where I yelling at them in my head.
Their story continues in the second book, Revealed by You.
