After adventuring beyond the wall for over a year, Elaine has her triumphant return home! A high level doesn't mean all challenges are solved though. DNF the series. I can't take it anymore. The level of deeply dumb the blahing of her gifts to every random mofo under the sun. hey you random person on the street guess what I got an immortal perk wanna see lol.

Oh the travels and travails of our hero...
Elaine has been away for so long, but finally makes it home. She brings a warning of a dangerous new enemy, the shingamu, that she encountered at Occi.
But most importantly she gets to see her friends and family, some of them just require a little more work to find.
Spoilers below ...
Elaine uses her lowest skill, The Stars Never Fade to grant some more years to several folks. She learns it has a 2-week cooldown. Each person's curse is unique to them. And white dove starts to get frustrated with her. At the end he just yells a curse ("DOORS!") at someone before flying away.
In return for these grants of more years to empire she gets women made into full citizens. A stern talking to from Night, who said he could have helped her with this in a better manner.
Her Phoenix companion continues to grow. Toward the end of the novel, we find out that Julius is in the Fae realm. Artemis (who loves him), Auri (her Phoenix), and Autumn (her teenage healing apprentice/merchant friend) join Elaine.
Autumn immediately breaks the no agreements rule, repeatedly, however it gets them to Julius and eventually they escape the realm. One of the trades was for her name and now Autumn is Amber.
As they exit the realm, we hear something from one of the interludes that indicates we are about to have a massive time jump.
This is confirmed when we read Night's interlude taking place 1, 10, 100, 1000, and finally 10000 years after her disappearance. At which point he becomes emperor himself.
Hopefully he and Elaine will get to visit in the future. I'm sure a meetup with Iona and her Ice Wyvern are also in the future.

I am done with this series. I kept getting the new books hoping that she would get smarter. But that was a waste of time and money. I grew up with 3 sisters and I know that the first thing they would do was figure out how to have a warm bath and how to regenerate hair. I mean she gets decapitated and can regenerate her body instantly. But not her hair!! REALLY!! Now she’s far in the future and she’s going to be with a whole new set of people to screw up with. No thanks

Kind of hard to complain about anything without huge spoilers. Decent book? Yeah. Is it all starting to feel like just walking around in circles without any real growth or destination? Oh, yeah.

The author has every right to tell her story. A typical flaw with LITRPG is controlling the progression, making it rational, and avoid the whole godlike MC. Selkie has a problem with that here, but not the sole reason for my single star, but it costs a star.
I deduct 2 stars for the cluelessness of the main character In book 6 the reader is subjected to pages of lecture on consent that was rather juvenile. Book 7 continues in a similar vein, now hitting mainly the topic of slavery. In doing this the author sets up an unworkable set of aspirations, outside of the ken of the current society. The combination of juvenile lecture as well as failing to reflect any rational expectaton of the socities she is describing each costs a star.
How Selkie bridges this gap - how the protagonist "cures" her now overriding concerns of slavery and women rights really deserves another 2 star deduction, but, alas, one star is the lowest score I can give. To say more would be a spoiler.
In "fairness" to the author I put the review here, it really should be in a review of the first book to warn any reader looking for a continuous series.

I was absolutely loving Return to Remus, up until the last 2 chapters where I personally believe Silkie Myth shot the book in the eye. I know that this isn't the last in the series as the Main Character's had survived. But, I'm done and never want to read anything by Silkie Myth again. So how do I pass out stars 5⭐'s or 1⭐? But be forewarned the ending leaves a lot to be desired!

"I did! Turns out if two slaves shine their bare arses at me with an [Illuminate] skill on them, it counts!" What had White Dove said again? Right, "You can only bathe in the light of two full moons at once."

I enjoyed following Elaine and after three thousand pages I felt compelled to continue even though the stories are so full of ridiculous inconsistencies and the further into the story, the less it is even remotely plausible.
The small stuff such as personal interactions usually work well, it’s when the author just gets carried away with stupid abilities, absurd levels and ludicrous beings, that it all falls apart.
At the end of the book is a reset to the whole story, which involved time travel. I’m afraid this really didn’t work for me, but I will try skipping through the next book just to find out what happens when Elaine and Iona finally meet.
After such a good start this series has been quite a disappointment. If possible I would have given 1.5 stars.

This was the book that ended my interest in following the series. The story had already stagnated from having no real goals for the protagonist, but now the author just skips forward 20k years. Every story that had been built up to this point is trashed, but at least the worst character in the series (Artemis) is still around.
Looking ahead it seems like Iona shows up and becomes a destined love interest so if you've actually been reading those terrible major interludes at the end of books there's finally some payoff.
I'm still 3-starring it and giving 5 stars to the others because the algorithm is BS to authors if they get low star reviews but I really don't recommend starting this series.

Help me read more books
As far as this one goes, it's a nice piece of the story. Can't say I like where it went in the end though. (mostly to be expected I guess). I have no doubt things will be sufficiently explained, but I'm not sure if I want to read more books in the series now. I probably will though, just because being this far in, it's very hard for me to bow out, so it's likely I'll read more, just not sure if it will be right away, that immediate need for more just isn't there after the ending of this one.

HOW DARE YOU! 7 Books I commit to this series. SEVEN and you go and reset the entire plot, kill off all of the characters I have come to know, and love ALL in the last 10 percent of this book. Unbelievable. Unacceptable. Unfathomable.
For shame. In my top 3 most hated books of all time off of that. I drop this book. I drop this series. I am so annoyed that I put so much into this series. If you want to read this series please be aware that the author does not hold anything sacred and will drop-kick you in the nads at the drop of a hat.

I assume this book will be pretty controversial to many reading this series. The MCs meandering seems a little pointless, there's no big goal, she goes around too much for this to be slice of life, so it's hard to know what to expect. I've enjoyed the journey so far, the characters, the world, the magic.
I guess if the author didn't know where they're going this ending makes sense, but eh... without spoiling, it really wasn't for me. It seems like there was a bit of effort put into the world building so I don't quite understand the direction taking. Ah well...

I loved seeing Elaine return home with Auri. It was cute to see her obsession with mango... much like my own, as soon as she got home. Her family is the best and so supportive. The fact she was able to get Women the very same rights for Men made this particular book that more epic than the others. I'm concerned with Elaine and co's trip to Fae Land... and it saddens me to see her folks don't get to reunite with her while she's been away on her mission.

So 98% of this installation is stock for the series. It's definitely good, if a bit flat. There are some consistency fails but overall it's enjoyable.

Best, but sad, ending yet
At this point, I think I finally understand why Iona has been a fixed character in the end of most of these books. I'm worried, who is Amber??! The beloved Auri does some slight growing up. Honestly, the end of the book had me reeling. I'm not sure what Elaine will do now.

Well written gracefully plotted. Rarely have I experienced any typos throughout my experience from reading # 1 thru# 8. Myself I have been thoroughly entertained. I have sporadically made the reference that this book series could easily be presented as a reanimation series or even a Prime TV series😝❗

Masterful
An excellent culmination. The end of this book would have been a good ending to the series. Even if I would have been a bit miffed for there to be no more to the story (there is, no worries!) It was a beautiful life.

7 books in and we finally get Elaine showing some initiative to changing women’s rights in Remus… only for it to not matter anyway. Not sure about the ending, we knew she would somehow end up in the future, guess I always expected it to be as an immortal old crow who survived the years.

This is another great book. Wasn’t a lot of development. More like build up. Elaine said she was going to merge her skills and I don’t believe a single one leveled. The end is another confusing translation but I guess we’ll figure it all out soon.

What a Ending
Did not see that at all. This series of a healer/mage who’s power is multiplied by her oath was a very interesting action packed read that I really enjoyed reading.

Wow.
The saga was not as great as it was until boom, new character introduced that makes every scene they are in better and the end. Oh my word the end. Just massively made me more invested in the series. Actually made me cry at the end, such a beautiful and sad send off.

This was undoubtedly another awesome addition to the series, although I will say that a final interlude was pretty heart wrenching. I think if you enjoyed the previous books, then you should certainly enjoy this one.

Great series
This is a long series but continues to be full of invention, genuine emotion and sadness. I have laughed out loud and also felt my eyes fill with tears from this book. I hope you read it.

The series should probably have ended here and it is still a good stopping point for those that wish to stop but have gotten caught in the sunk cost fallacy like I have. The return as the title clearly says was worth the read and the more day to day life of Elaine is presented in this book.

This book has ceased to have semblance of a coherent story arc. The writing continues to be solid and the characters are interesting, but the plot is meandering, inconsistently paced and just generally not nearly as gripping as the first few novels were.
