THEY'RE HUNGRY! THEY'RE HORNY! THEY'RE EMERGING FROM THE SEWERS TO TURN YOUR TOWN INTO A BUFFET OF FLESH AND BLOOD!
Having terminated a den of male wererats, Raven, an alluring and powerful Mother, claims Portsmouth for her own. Her ambitions become clear through a series of ruthless and bloody yet calculated acts. It seems there’s no stopping her until an intriguing new arrival in town disrupts her designs, forcing her to correct course in increasingly merciless and grisly ways. Will she realize her lofty goals, or will they be torn to shreds like the victims in her wake?
Honestly, I was convinced the first book had pushed the story (and the disgust) as far as it could go - well, lesson learned: never underestimate Terry Miller! "Wererats Underground" is a must-read for all the gore hounds out there: it's the sordid creature feature sequel that's full of violent, despicable rat-people, sex-driven wererats deserving zero sympathy, having shed all the moral qualities they ever had (if they did!) before they turned. Yuck.
The story's centered on Raven, the infertile wererat Mother from the previous volume. She's a great character, an uber-violent tough she-devil, with absolutely no redeeming qualities. I wanted so much to dislike her, but thanks to Raven, the previous book got both an interesting wererat background lore, and a fitting ending; so this second book now can be read as a standalone. Here we see her in all its glory, checking all the boxes for loathsome and revolting wererat group leader. However, there are some developments even she couldn't predict, and her plans have to accomodate new arrivals and, towards the end, happenings whose upshot are bound to expand the wererat lore even more.
To be clear: there's violence, there's gore, there's sex (consensual and not), there's abuse, mutilation, in brief a rollercoaster ride of fur and teeth and claws, celebrating depravity. If you like splatterpunk creature features with great plot and imaginative storytelling, cunning monsters hungry for sex and flesh and killing with no morality, then this is the book for you!
“Mother” Raven begins a master plan to create her own wererat-pack by controlling its virus. Traveling dark streets, seedy bars and the city’s sewer tunnels, Raven begins her infestation by enslaving male pets. However, betrayal and an ultimate power exists well within this subterranean realm.
Wererats Underground is the continuation of author Terry Miller’s Den of the Wererats. Fortified with sharp teeth, piercing claws and an extreme rat libido, this new species that relish in cannibalistic urges take feeding to a whole new level. Once these rats taste flesh, instincts take over, which lead to brutal violations of pure agony. These seductive predators lurk in every alleyway waiting to lure their prey into terrifying transformations of fur, blood and bone.
Terry Miller weaves his terrifying Gloom House tale around an insatiable were-pack and the nightmares that they bring. Using gruesome characteristics, Miller ushers the reader to a front row seat in order to experience a first-hand account of these strange humanoid-rat hybrids. The wererat-lycanthrope that Miller has created provides a high level of violence, gore and explicit sexual content. Scary settings and creepy characters all give Wererats Underground a full range of intense fear, anxiety, and excitement. At the end of the day it’s all about the hunt, not the kill.
Wererats Underground provides something disturbingly special to sink your teeth into. Meanwhile, if you haven’t experienced Terry Miller’s rat-pack yet, here are two things you might want to keep in mind: humans are best left for food and playthings, and always replace the manhole cover as you enter Miller’s subterranean underground. Damn, I love these wererat books! A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation.
Loved this book! My first read by this author but definitely won’t be my last. Brutal from the very beginning and holds on up until the very end. A book I would recommend to any horror fan.
I have to be completely honest! If I was a male rat, I would more than likely be Raven’s next victim. This is a nasty ass and filthy follow up to Den of The Werwolves! Terry has created a f’d up tale of revenge, sexual assault, extreme violence, and back stabbing. What impressed me the most was how he was able to exploit human’s and rats worst traits and mesh them into something evil! Get this book now.
Bibliophilia Templum review https://bibliophiliatemplum.wordpress.com/2024/11/04/wererats-underground/ Wererats Underground is Terry Miller’s extreme sequel to his novella Den of the Wererats. And yes, you need to read them in order. But be warned, Terry Miller ups his extreme horror game in this one.
This is a relentless and driving story of sex, violence, depravity, and shapeshifting wererats. Terry Miller pulls no punches in the telling of Raven’s unmerciful pursuit of her dark ambitions, with the exception of his clear effort not to glorify the SA. Yes, there’s SA along with a host of other things some people might consider triggering. This is a brilliant but boundary-crossing Extreme Horror novel and only for those of sturdy intestinal fortitude.
Amidst the brutality, sex, and gore is evocative characterization (meaning you feel things about them, not necessarily like them), suspense (both anticipation of what’s going to happen and concern about what vile and twisted thing might be coming up), intrigue (because wererats and lots of gripping twists), action (sex and violence and feeding, oh my), and fantastic dialogue (some of it so darkly humorous). It’s a solid and compelling story, and the graphic, extreme nature of the telling is disturbingly integral.
Five Stars for an incredibly written, relentless shapeshifter story. This is a fantastic Extreme Horror read and an intense follow-up to the first one, but check your triggers and boundaries at the title page. Extreme Horror fans only, please.
Terry Miller is back with the second book in the Wererats series “Wererats Underground”! I have been waiting for what feels like forever for this sequel, and Miller did not disappoint! This book clocks in at almost twice the length of the first, hits the ground running and does not let up. You are also going to see a lot more brutality this time around, so buckle up. If you have read the first book, then you should be familiar with the lovely Raven. Well she is back and more awful than ever. Beautiful, brutal, manipulative, a straight up pure savage. Talk about a character that you love to hate, she brings it all(wait till you learn of her favorite way to dispatch a victim). This is easily a five star read for me, kept me super engaged and entertained start to finish. And omg, get ready for a whopper of an ending…
Oh boy! Terry outdoes himself in the sleaze department with the second entry in his Wererats series - WERERATS UNDERGROUND. Where DEN OF THE WERERATS set everything up nicely and kept it to a fairly contained plotline, WU opens everything up for a big, bloody, and vile sequel where anything and everything goes in the saga of Raven and her fellow wererats. There's so much of everything transgressive here that you won't know which way is up once it's all over. And by over, I mean the vicious cliffhanger Terry dangles you off of as he grins with delight while you anticipate the next installment like a rat in a cage! There's so much death and carnage and sex and wererats morphing out that anyone out here who loves were-monster fiction will be satiated for quite some time. Really looking forward to WERERATS IN UTERO.
This is the second book in the Wererats series. The book gets off to a quick start and doesn't let up. If you enjoyed the first book, I'm here to tell you book 2 is more brutal and gruesome. Book two revolves around Raven from book 2 as she becomes a wererat mother. She might be my favorite character as she's just about as evil as you would want in a wererat.
Despite that, there are things that even Raven couldn't predict.
I have to warn you, book 2 is more extreme than book one. If you thought rats had a big appetite in book 1, that's nothing compared to this one. The ending suggests that there might be a third entry. I sure hope so because I can't get enough of these hungry rats.
