Detective Inspector Morgan Yeoman heads home with a pile of paperwork and a takeaway dinner. His front door is wide open. He finds his wife Lydia high on cocaine and there’s a dead woman in his living room. Her throat slit with one slash.
A dead body in a detective’s home. It’s not looking good for Yeoman.
He’s already got a lot on his plate. A young woman was found dead in the dirt in Queen’s Wood. Her naked body thrown into a ditch.
Yeoman’s willing to be bad to put away bad men. As long as the real criminals are caught.

This is yet another gripping series from Emmy Ellis, not your usual run-of-the-mill type cop series, I can guarantee that.
To be honest, at first I didn’t really like the lead character, DI Morgan Yeoman but he grew on me throughout the story and what a story it was too.
A little near the knuckle now and again, but as usual, the characters are sublime and leap off the page, as with all of Emmy’s books.
Give it a go, you won’t be sorry.

A new series by author Emmy Ellis. What a great start to this new series. Was a bit unsure about the lead character DI Morgan Yeoman at the start but he grew on me, and i think deep down he is a good man.
The story follows an innocent man who is seeking revenge for the killing of a school boy many years ago. The gang were a bunch of youths, who made a pact never to talk about what happened and not to met each other again.
I loved the ending wont spoil it for anyone else! I hope we see more of Val and Phil in any forthc0ming books. And why do i see a spark between Morgan and Jane Blessing lol
Highly recommend.

I wasn’t sure whether I was going to finish the book as none of the characters are remotely likeable. I did persevere and enjoyed the story , and will give the 2nd book a go.

The sins of the past come to haunt a group of childhood chums. An investigator is determined to get to the bottom of things. But trouble strikes close to home.
I was almost tempted to give up on this novel. The characters, cops and criminals were uniformly unpleasant. But as the story picked up so did my interest. If you can get throughthe first quarter it evolves into a satisfying tale of revenge.

This was okay! The plot and ending didn’t have that shock factor I would have liked to see, it was all kind of predictable. At times it would be a bit confusing for whose POV I was reading in each chapter but overall, it surprisingly had some witty moments which i enjoyed.

An original plot with original characters. I enjoyed this creepy investigation with its creepy murders as well as twists and turns. Utterly compelling as to the development of the plot , the investigation let me wonder at the conclusion up to the last page... I have already started book 2.

A great start to a new series, I enjoyed this book one to the series. I wasn't sure about the main characters at 1st, but they grew on me halfway through the book. I will definitely rad the rest of the series,

not for me
Sadly, the first page had unsavoury language so I’m presuming it won’t let up therefore I’m not reading any more though the title sounded wonderful and I love British mysteries so I’m disappointed . I’m sure others will like it.

almost gave up on the book - moved slowly and the characters are really unlikeable.
