This isn't a book about an MC, and, though it is a love story, it's not a traditional romance. It's just Sisco's story.
At times, Sisco thought about her more often. Pretty much anything could lead him down the path to another memory of her. It hurt, but at the same time he liked those memories because they were a reminder of how he'd once had her—and had been all hers.
They met at a party in Seattle, Washington, during the late eighties. She followed him home and never left. It wasn't a conventional relationship, and they didn't do things the way most people did, but that was why it worked for them.
While the intimate local music scene they'd both loved became the empty media circus known as "grunge," the two of them found comfort in knowing that no matter what happened, it would always be the two of them.
Please note: Although S-Duality can be read as a standalone, it contains spoilers for Arrow of Time and Perfect Collision. Contains explicit sex and dark themes. For adults only.
Lina Andersson was born and raised as far up north as you can go in Sweden. The long, dark winters were made for reading and writing, which is pretty much all she ever did. In her early twenties, she packed up her husband and son and moved to the slightly warmer climate of southern Sweden, where they still live, more than a decade later. When she's not writing, she's an avid gamer and film geek.

Sisco! Not as in, "Cisco the kid", but Sisco! Of the Marauders MC! This story, S-Duality, is a novella in the Andersson's Marauders MC series and meant to be read before book three. I read out of order a bit but it had no impact on my love for this man and his story. In fact, after reading book three, Center of Gravity, I felt more inclined and intrigued to learn Sisco's story. This richly evocative, sweet, honest novella S-Duality and Sisco are my favorite of the series yet.
S-Duality doesn't work to further the plot of the Marauders in the series but rather serves as an exploration in the life of one of it's members, Sisco. Here we learn where Sisco came from, how he became a Marauder and why he's so intriguing as a secondary character in the other books. To say I fell in love with this man is an understatement as Sisco rocked my world! His demeanor. His love for the love of his life. His laid back attitude. His use of really great adjectives. His sad heart yet smiling face.
The story toggles between Sisco's present day and his past meshing the two together in a really lovely way. With a melancholy and quite reverent tone to the story telling, Lina Andersson develops his character so fully in so little pages. As Sisco reflects on what's happening to the people in his club he remembers the wonderful and heart breaking memories of his past, memories serving as a bridge to his very existence now within the club. The love of his life, Trudy, comes alive through his memories. We see the openness in their relationship that started as crazy love at first sight. Trust serves as the main foundation in their relationship and is juxtaposed to the trust he has for his family in the Marauders.
S-Duality may be just a novella within this series but it packs a big punch. Please don't skip it when reading the series as this character is one you want to know better. I laughed and cried while falling in love with the story of Sisco. It's a novella I won't soon forget.
Lina Andersson is a fellow author of the Freak Circle Press. *** This sweet little novella doesn't feel like a shortie at all. To anyone familiar with the Marauders MC series, Sisco is an interesting character that you likely have a fondness for and you don't quite know why. S-Duality will tell you where he comes from. This is a heart-breaker of a tale, so authentically and emotionally rich you won't for a second think it's entirely a product of the author's imagination. It feels historically accurate and factual, and the characters are so believable it's almost unreal. Amazing story, amazing read, and amazingly talented author. This is basically perfection.
============================= The story was not as I expected, because it focuses on the character's life before he joined the Club. But I was positively surprised and I ended up really enjoying. The love story was beautiful, wild, intense and very sad. Loved reading! I'm ready to read the next in the series. The author writes very well and is on my shopping list automatically.
Now there are a lot of people who will give this book five stars and I can see why. This will be a five star read for you or a one star read like it was for me.
I loved this series. From the blurb I thought this was a love story from Sisco's past. The blurb does not mention that this is a ménage book. It also does not mention that this love story will come to a disastrous end with the death of his wife and child. It's a great book, if you love this sort of thing. Not for me though.
Well written with a few editing errors that didn't distract from the story. This is a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger.
Another interesting installment in the Marauders series. One of the technical skills Lina Andersson has is the ability to imbue each character with a distinctive voice, vocabulary and tone. This book is a great example of that skill, giving a richly textured story, mostly in the character's memories, that feels distinctly different than the first two Marauders books -- but still a part of the series.
It's a sad story with a satisfying ending. For those of us alive and partying during Grunge, it's an interesting spin on the era and the events.
April 2025 update A quick read, but not an easy one due to the storyline. Sisco and Trudy lived life in a way that they kept true to each other. Past and present chapters flowed well to the point it didn’t put me off, however I was mindful it was happening.
Feb 2018:
I found S-Duality hard to get into to begin with but once I did I couldn’t put it down. Be sure to have some Kleenex on hand!
4.5 stars. Beautiful Heartwarming/Heartbreaking Love Story. Not every book can or should have hearts, rainbows & sweet fluffy kittens. Some stories need to be RAW, REAL and without the perfect HEA ending. Life is tragic sometimes...
An amazing Emotional rollercoaster. Couldn't not put it down once I started reading it. The fact that I am writing this review at 4:30 a.m should say it all. The Marauders series just keeps getting better and this book will not disappoint.
Just didn't enjoy this book at all. In fact it's almost made me want to not read anymore of the series!
Just didn't get any feels for either of the characters at all. Didn't connect to them n even the sex scenes - I love menage, didn't do anything for me in fact the opposite! It wasnt the alt hea either.
Think cos it's not an mc book tbh. I really dont like rockstar books n I suppose as they lived in Seattle during the music explosion it concentrated around that.
But it was more than that. I just did not connect at all with sisko or Trudy. In fact I didn't like her at all.
Good but sad. Sisco and Trudy. Very hippie during the Seattle grunge movement. Drugs, music, and sex sums this story up. Tragic ending though we get Vi and Mac's new son.
"the memories of her were good memories, something he enjoyed, rather than just making him feel bad. He knew he was lucky to have found someone like that; not everyone did. He'd met his perfect match, the one that was for life. It was just that her life had ended a lot earlier than his. That didn't make it any less perfect."
Definitely worth reading but be prepared for an incredibly emotional read and no happy ending.
S-Duality (Marauders MC #2.5) By: Lina Andersson 5/5 stars
This novella evoked quite a few emotions and really made me fall in love with Sisco, who is an “older member” of the MC. This novella is Sisco’s story and while some of the story is set in present day Greenville, Arizona, the majority of his story takes place in Seattle, 25-30 years ago. So we do get to see some of the MC guys and their women, but this story isn’t about the MC.
Sisco and Trudy met at a party, and from there, they set everything afire, fast and furious. Their relationship blossomed quickly and grew into something deep and serious, that neither one was suspecting. But at the same time, neither was afraid of it because it just felt right.
Sisco and Trudy were in Seattle when the music scene was just a baby and the musicians were paid in beer & pot. Art was something that was done for the love of it & it may not have any true meaning & it didn’t matter if the artist made a lot of money or not. People struggled to make ends meet & work “regular” full-time jobs. They were also there when the “grunge” music scene blew up.
But the love that Trudy and Sisco had was the one-of-a-kind that that people don’t get over or are ever able to find again. I’m not going to give anything away, but we know from the first two Marauders books, Arrow in Time and Perfect Collision, that Sisco is alone and without a steady woman. Though it breaks your heart, you will love him even more.
This book moves back and forth through time from Sisco at about 21, during the explosion of grunge rock from the Seattle music scene in the late 80's forward to Sisco as a member of the Marauder's MC in Arizona. It's the story of his true love and the loss of that piece of his life that led him to be who and what he is. The sex is something else, swinger style.
This is my least favorite book so far, probably because I never liked grunge rock and the swinger lifestyle doesn't appeal to me. It's a heart wrenching story of love and loss and coming to terms with that loss. The book ends with the birth of Mac and Vi's first child but doesn't further the MC timeline otherwise. It's a novella designed to fill in the gaps of background for one of the MC members who is Treasurer and recently did jail time. It can be read as a stand alone and is complete, no cliffhanger.

Wow, this was definitely an emotional roller coaster as described by the author. And the funny thing is that I usually stay away from Novella's because I want more of a story and not a short clipped one. I was blown away by this book and I didn't want to put it down, it completely pulled at my heart strings and just.....WOW. As stated, it is a love story but not about an MC book. It is just Sisco's story and how he found and lost the love of his life.
Wow. this book spoke to me. I felt everything Sisco did I felt lik I understood him in both the present and the past. He was real for me. What incredibly awesome writing. Congratulations Ms.Andersson! The only thing stopping this from being a 5 star rating is that the sex in Sisco and Trudy's relationship was a little too freaky for me. But I read it for the great story rather than the sex.
I don't normally like novellas because they're too short but I loved this one. It's a trip down memory lane and the story of Sisco's love for his wife Trudy, the love of his life. The way he loved her is beautiful. This story made me smile and made me sad and it also made me hopeful. I really liked it.
Broke my heart while it mended it at the same time
Heart breakingly beautiful. Sisco's and Trudy's story is so beautiful and fun. Reminded me of falling in love the for the first time all over again. However, sadly there is not a happy ending. I hope Sisco gets a happy ending one day. His heart deserves to be mended.
If I could give this book more than 5stars I would.
This is Sisco's story and I'm broken for him. It's a beautiful story that shows you that you need to live life and not just exist.
Lina Andersson just gets better and better. Her stories will pull you through an emotional roller coaster but you'll quickly pick up the next story just to go through it again
This is my ZON Review .... :-) I FREAKING balled my eyes out!!! This is One of my Favourite series... this was a beautiful heart braking story ... So be prepared people.. get those tissues ready...a great but tearful story.. i loved it... So Get One Clicking People. :-)
I have really enjoyed this series. The world building is so complex and layered. This novella has the characters from the first 2 books and flashbacks to Seattle 20 years ago. Sisco's story made me cry.
Wow, Sisco! Great writing, amazing back drop painted with the whole music scene. I do wish we got more of a full circle with Sisco. Loved that he share with Violet but really wish he got a happy ever after especially his heart breaking loss.
This story was amazing!! I loved being able to get some inside information on Sisco and his life before the MC. You will definitely need some tissues tho so be warned.
