Diane and Rufus are both widowed. Both have young adult children. Is it too late for them to find love a second time?
I thought the author did a great job portraying them both as grieving their deceased spouses. In their younger days the two couples were friends and shared good times together. At first, they both were reluctant to enter a new relationship. They were both honest about their feelings of grief and their feelings of attraction to the other. Their children all knew each other and were friendly to one another.
Rufus was a calm, thoughtful man. Diane struggled with worry.
My favorite quote from the book was something Diane shared that resonated with me. She said, "I don't know what I want. I'm tired of feeling like a failure when it comes to my Christianity. I want to be more comfortable letting go of worry and accepting that I can't change God's plans."
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions and comments are entirely my own.

I think it's my first later in life romance. I wasn't very attracted to it at first because I thought I prefered first love stories. This book might have changed things for me!

I really liked the evolution in the characters thoughts, lives, feelings. I feel like I grew up with them.

The book evoques loss, grief and we witness life as family members and community are all dealing in different ways with emotions and hardship.

I highlighted quotes and reflexions on anxiety and fear of living after an accident. I recommend this book. But if you have suffered a recent loss, illness or accident, be careful, nothing grafic but strong emotions and concerns are involved in the characters' lives stories (2 widowed people).

I was given a free copy of this book. This is my personal and honest opinion.

Diane and Rufus are widow and widower who used to double date with their spouses. But with the help of the local matchmakers throwing them together often, they have each discovered a mutual attraction. But is Diane too afraid to lose a loved one again to take a chance on love? Can she learn to trust God to always be there for her and never leave her?

Very good biblical principles such as Scripture reading, prayer, and trusting God with the future.

Favorite quote: “He’d learned to do that over the years, to yield to the Holy Spirit no matter where he was or what he was doing and bow his head.”

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.

This story features a romance between a mature couple. Both are widowed and have grown children.
This is a touching story on grief and falling in love again.
Relationships don't grow in a vacuum, and Diane and Gerald have to deal with their own changing emotions and those of their grown kids.

Diane and Gerald are about sixty years old; they each have their own way of dealing with things. They bring their own experience and traumas to this budding relationship. Can it survive? Can they honor their first loves while falling in love with another?

This is an amazing book. The author is very talented in character development. Diane and Gerald are both great. They are suffering from the loss of their former mates. Diane is struggling with keeping her farm going and Gerald tries to help her. He is such a darling and a long time friend of her family. But there are reasons, they don't want to commit to each other. Maybe they can use some help from the match makers in their community. A great book that is not only interesting but inspirational to boot.

Book two of the Whispering Creek Matchmakers continues the series no less delightful than the first book! Even though the characters may change, the theme remains the same, God always has a plan no matter the past or present, healing and restoring hearts, ushering each individual into a future prepared by Him. Entertaining and encouraging!

Rufus and Diane are both widowed and have known each other since before their children were born. The Matchmakers think that their shared grief and memories can bring them together, but are those memories actually an obstacle? A sweet mature couple romance that deals with chronic worry, fear and guilt from a Christian viewpoint.
