She was a prodigy born to perform, until her world collapsed in silence.
Madeline Willis was destined for greatness. A piano virtuoso discovered at just five years old, raised by a mother who fled Poland with dreams as fierce as her daughter’s talent. But when tragedy struck at seventeen—the sudden death of her mother and a disastrous performance that shattered her future—Madeline vanished from the spotlight. She fled to Los Angeles, abandoned the keys, and tried to become someone ordinary.
Then Greta Copperfield walked into her life.
Drawn in by Madeline’s haunting past and raw potential, Greta invites her to the Copperfield House on Nantucket—a place steeped in second chances. There, Madeline begins to unravel the tightly wound grief she’s carried for years. She meets Henry, a screenwriter with chaos in his eyes and his own art-driven obsessions. Their connection is magnetic, but with both of their careers on the cusp of brilliance, timing becomes their greatest obstacle.
As Madeline finds her way back to music through unexpected gigs and serendipitous opportunities—first jazz, then concert halls, and finally Paris—she begins to question what success really means. Is it fame? Legacy? Or is it playing the piano for someone you love, even when your heart is breaking?
Spanning continents, generations, and the painful echoes of a forgotten family legacy, Madeline Willis is a deeply emotional story about reclaiming your voice, rewriting your dreams, and discovering that love doesn’t ask you to choose between purpose and passion—it helps you find both.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
It never ceases to amaze me how Katie Winters continues to weave these incredible stories. She consistently paints a familial picture filled with love, hate, angst, fear— and the list goes on. In Nantucket Longing, she covers the incredible journey of Madeline Willis…as painful as it was to read. The storyline was amazing; the various characters had incredible depth; the plot twists and turns were crafted in such a way that they kept coming at you from all sides like bam-bam-bam. As with most of the Nantucket novels, there isn’t s clear HEA…but we’re left with the hope that love will find our characters and they ultimately will get that HEA. I suggest that you have tissues handy for this one, too. Ugly crying is very possible…truly. You’re going to want to add this one to your collection. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and remain in awe of this incredible author!) ❤️❤️
Nantucket Longing is book 13 in the Nantucket Sunset series by Katie Winters 4.5 stars
Madeline Willis was destined for greatness when her mother fled Poland for the US hoping for a better future for both. At 17 tragedy strikes with the loss of her mother. She heads to LA to start over alone. Then she meets Greta and is invited to Copperfield House and while on her flight to Nantucket she meets Henry, a screenwriter (Nantucket Gala). What happens next is finding her way back to music, discovering her grandmother in Poland, slowly building a relationship with Henry and possibly at HEA…
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Madeline is a child prodigy, giving up so much of her life To play the piano. Taken from Poland as a child, her Mother Diana, worked so hard to provide piano lessons and teachers for Madeline. The day of an audition at Juilliard, tragedy strikes and Madeline’s life is forever changed.
A resident at the Copperfield House not once but twice, Madeline still has a hard time finding her artistic muse. Play-write Henry attracts Madeleine’s attention.
When it is revealed her grandmother is a famed musician, Madeline questions her past and her path in life.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Nantucket Longing follows the story of Madeline Willis, a child prodigy who is brought up by her mother in the States after she left her family in Poland. It's a complicated and interesting story. Greta Copperfield is responsible for helping Madeline become an artist again. Greta's grandson, screenwriter Henry, is enchanted by Madeline during her time at the Copperfield house, and he and Madeline fall in love. There were so many sad events in the story, and career and love seem incompatible. This is an exceptional book and I highly recommend it.
This was such a lovely story of Madeline and her past - and how that greatly influenced her life now. She was a former child prodigy with the piano until tragedy struck and she stopped playing completely. Once she meets Henry and Greta Copperfield and she has been trying to find her new passion - she realizes that she can't forget the piano completely. Learning mom's back story and even her grandmother's story really played a huge role in what makes her who she is. There is of course also a love story - but it's not the primary piece of this novel.
The thirteenth volume delivers a gripping saga that draws readers into its intricate world, weaving a rich tapestry of narrative complexity and emotional depth. With masterful storytelling, the author crafts an immersive journey that promises to captivate and enthrall from the first page to the last.
Katie Winters continues to write and entertain us through stories of love, family, betrayal, and talent! She weaves quite a few plots across the USA and the ocean and documents the strength of female characters after devastating and tragic events.
I've read enough summer ro.ended built around this area. I could have foretold of the wicked. He's dmother. i.hope the love with Henry eorks, ut I fear it wont.
I love the Copperfield family and all of their stories. I eagerly watch for new releases. I a, however, disappointed at the fact that each book seems to be shorter than the last.
Warm hearted story about Madeline, a childhood prodigy, who falls in love with Henry, Greta and Bernard’s grandson. I love the Copperfield family and all the stories woven through them.
I enjoyed the story and the character building of Henry and Madeline. I like the description of the classical musicians and so far I’ve liked all of these books.
