When Life Gives You Lemons, Fake an Engagement

When investment banker Adrian and software engineer Rowena started the day, they didn’t expect to end it engaged! But Adrian has invented a fake fiancée to impress his CEO, regretting the lie almost immediately, and now he is in hot water. Meanwhile, Rowena's career has just gone up in flames, leaving her unemployed, unexpectedly expecting with no father in the picture, and short of options.

When fate throws these two hot messes into a meet-cute of epic proportions, it's a match made in rock-bottom heaven. They say love is blind, and with nothing to lose, Adrian gets down on one knee… and Rowena says yes!

The rules of engagement are simple:

Pretend to be madly in love

Keep their real lives separate

Absolutely, positively do NOT catch feelings

However, faking it is harder than they thought, especially when every overnight stay comes with only one bed and zero personal space—blurring that imaginary line between ‘just business’ and ‘definitely personal.’

Soon, their carefully constructed charade starts to feel alarmingly... real. Can Adrian and Rowena stick to their engagement pact, or will their fake relationship graduate to something authentically messy, complicated, and wonderful?

Find out in this hilarious, heartwarming tale of two strangers who said "I do" before they even said "Hello." Because sometimes, the worst day of your life just might lead to the best mistake you'll ever make.

If the Ring Fits is an age gap, marriage of convenience rom-com with a multi-millionaire MMC and a STEM FMC perfect for fans of Lynn Painter, Sarah Adams and Fallon Ballard.

The Love Theorem by Camilla Isley - A STEMinist Romantic Comedy Novel

Camilla is an engineer who left science behind to enter the whimsical realm of romantic fiction.

She writes contemporary rom-coms. Her characters have big hearts, might be a little stubborn at times, and love to banter with each other. Every story she pens has a guaranteed HEA that will make your heart beat faster. Unless you're a vampire, of course.

Camilla is a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading—duh!—cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies—popcorn, please. She's a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn't want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.

2 stars for this “rom-com” that really pissed me off! So, the MC’s life explodes in a single afternoon when she finds out that she’s preggers with no baby daddy in sight & then gets fired from her STEM job when her project’s cut. So, before she’s even out the workplace door, she meets a fantasy, super-rich & hot dude in the toilets🤮!! & he offers her (sight unseen) a fake marriage proposal to solve all her problems!?!?! Like what the fresh patriarchy, “Pretty Woman” hell is this???🤬 This woman working in STEM just can’t deal & needs some Cinderella hero rescue?? Her only other option is “slinking home to Mom & Dad” but she’s 28?!? Rather disappointing, especially considering the author's STEM background and the last release of hers that I read & really, really liked a lot. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Camilla Isley serves up a delicious romantic comedy that hits all the right notes. Take one brilliant but down-on-her-luck software engineer, add an investment banker desperate enough to invent a fake fiancée, throw in an unexpected pregnancy, and watch the sparks fly. The result? A charming story that'll have you grinning from ear to ear.

Our heroine Rowena isn't just another romance protagonist – she's a wonderfully real character whose sharp wit helps her roll with life's punches. When she crosses paths with Adrian, a smooth-talking banker whose fictional fiancée scheme is about to blow up in his face, their "arrangement" sets up the perfect storm of awkward situations and undeniable attraction.

The joy of this book lies in watching these two dance around their growing feelings while trying to maintain their elaborate charade. Adrian's polished exterior starts cracking to reveal something much more interesting underneath, and their chemistry practically leaps off the page. Isley knows exactly when to make you laugh and when to make your heart skip a beat.

Sure, you'll find familiar romance tropes here – including the ever-reliable "oh no, there's only one bed!" – but they're handled with such warmth and humor that they feel fresh rather than formulaic. While the story occasionally takes some time jumps that leave you wanting more, the overall journey is thoroughly satisfying.

This is the kind of book that reminds you why romantic comedies are so much fun in the first place. It's sweet without being saccharine, sexy without trying too hard, and genuine enough to make you care about what happens to these characters long after you close the book.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Bollywood Books for providing me this heartfelt romance's digital reviewer copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

One Liner: Cute!

Investment banker Adrian is a high-profile CIO with a successful career and no personal life. He is confident in his abilities but finds out he needs to impress his CEO and comes up with a non-existent fiancée. Where can he find one now?

Rowena is a software engineer who finds out she is pregnant with her douchebag ex’s child and loses her job on the same day. When her path crosses with Adrain, he offers an agreement that could help her find her feet.

Will the fake engagement and marriage lead to true love?

The story comes in Rowena and Adrain’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

The book is standalone. I didn’t read the previous book in the series but it didn’t affect my enjoyment.

The beginning is quite a hook. The first chapter starts at ‘present’ of sorts and has high tension ending with a cliffhanger. Then, we get the flashback from both POVs.

The book combines quite a few tropes – fake dating/ marriage, age gap (11 years), one bed, surprise pregnancy, women in STEM, etc. I like that the age gap is not emphasized much after the initial mention. It doesn’t as such have a vital role but kinda makes the MMC appear mature.

Though the FMC is in STEM, it plays a relatively moderate role in the plot. This one focuses on their fake relationship and her pregnancy most of the time.

The FMC is cute enough, though I’m not sure the nickname suits her. She doesn’t really come across as Sunshine. Makes sense considering she has enough concerns about her future. She is quirky but even that doesn’t exactly hit right. We are told her ex didn’t like her humor but it wasn’t that weird, IMO. However, I chuckled a few times so the banter was fun to read.

The side characters are interesting (one couple is from the previous book). Another couple from a different book (I read that one!) also made a guest appearance. It was a nice surprise. Of course, the ex was a huge jerk (pretty stereotypical and has a teeny part).

Despite the sexual tension, the book ended up being closed door. Strange! Those who want to read the ‘action’ can subscribe to her newsletter.

The pacing is decent, moderate to fast, and keeps the story moving. Despite being the archetype, the MMC displays good growth. I like that it is steady and aligns with who he appears to be. No immature drama either (from his side).

To summarize, If the Ring Fits is an entertaining and cute romance if you enjoy the said tropes. It has a few issues but is a satisfactory read overall.

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

I must have been living under a rock for not having read anything by Camilla Isley before. This book was exactly what I needed. 😌

Rowena and Adrian have their meet-cute while puking in neighboring stalls in a public restroom. How romantic. 🥰 Rowena just found out that she’s pregnant, and then she lost her job. As luck would have it, Adrian desperately needs a fake pregnant fiancée, so they strike a deal.

This book had all the right tropes:
• single mom
• fake dating
• marriage of convenience

…and they were executed beautifully. Even the eleven-year age gap didn’t irk me—maybe because 28 and 39 hits differently than, say, 18 and 29. Rowena and Adrian had great chemistry, and I loved them together. I have a soft spot for guys who think they’re not relationship material and then end up excelling at it. I also loved that Rowena still pursued her career, even though Adrian was very wealthy and they had a baby.

Not sure what to say about the spice—this was closed-door, but there’s a spicy bonus chapter, so I guess it’s a Schrödinger’s door? It makes sense, since it’s about a woman in STEM.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Fake dating, single mom and marriage of convenience, I need it now!
It’s part of a series, but my recent experience with NetGalley taught me that they all are, and at least this one is not pretending to be a standalone and I respect that.

Thanks NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the arc!

3.5★ “I might be old-fashioned, but shouldn’t you at least ask my name before you propose?”

The concept had already gripped me from the first chapter in itself. I liked how it was different from those stereotypical grumpy billionaire romances. The vibrant prose of the author was magical, i found myself hooked from the start, that too and the short chapters and spot-on pacing made following along much easier.

“If some asshole middle manager at a fintech start-up fired my girlfriend for any reason, I would buy the whole damn company and clean house. Every last one of their management team would be out on the street faster than they could blink.”

Rowana and Adrian, together were heart-touching and impactful, flawed but relatable with swoon worthy and delicious chemistry. Their first “meet-puke” was the most hilarious and unique first interaction i’ve read in a while. And this simultaneous puking their guts out leads to him proposing to her for marriage. And they say romance is dead.
The way they danced around their feelings for each other while trying to act *detached* made me giggle. I loved Rowana’s comic timing. The development of Adrian from a career-oriented emotionally-unavailable ruthless businessman with a softie supportive heart to a well communicated attentive family man was a sight to behold(read).

She could be sitting in a pigsty , and she’d still transform it into a paradise.

Tho I found the ending a bit rushed. I’d have liked to read more 50 pages of how they fell apart instead of those summarised paragraphs, it kinda made me disconnected with their situation and experiences. A detailed narration instead of just informing the reader of those miscommunications would have been worked better with me. Nonetheless I loved this emotional journey of pretend engagement gone wrong with a much needed touch of hilarious banter.

“You’d sacrifice everything you’ve worked for your entire life just for me.”
“Yes, gladly.” He cups my face. “And there should be no ‘just’ when you refer to yourself. Because you’re everything.”

This is a cute story. It's the second in a series about three women who are roommates in New York City that have been best friends all through their college years. The first book was Nina and Tristan's story that took place over Christmas. (Read it last year.) At the end of book one, there's a shuffling of roommates. Nina is packing to move out and live with her boyfriend. Nina's brother Dylan, is replacing her so Hunter isn't left trying to make up the difference in lost rent. FMC Rowena, the third roommate is also moving out. This is her story.

The MMC is Adrian West, a very wealthy man who is the Chief Investment Officer of major hedge fund Fulton Capital. All he does is work. He stopped having relationships because they all ended the same way: his girlfriend(s) would leave because they felt his career was more important to him than they were. And they were correct. Adrian is very ambitious and driven due to his childhood history.

After learning he's in the running to become the new Fulton Capital CEO, Adrian believes he has it in the bag. Until he secretly overhears a conversation that changes everything. Soon, he finds himself in a position where he's told one fib and it ends up snowballing into an avalanche of falsehoods. All of a sudden, the sushi he had for lunch isn't sitting so well with him.

FMC Rowena Taylor is seven weeks pregnant by her now ex-boyfriend and has just lost her job. She's at that stage where she's ill a lot due to pregnancy. She's told that the project she was working on has been cancelled and the company is making cutbacks, so she's become redundant. On the day she's terminated, she doesn't make it out of the building without getting sick in a unisex or "family" lavatory. A few minutes later, she hears another person entering the stall next to her experiencing the same condition.

Rowena and this stranger begin talking to each other while still hidden between their respective stall doors. She tells him what happened to her and he explains how he got himself into his situation.

Adrian to Rowena (stranger to stranger):
"Listen, this is going to sound absolutely insane but... what if we teamed up? You need a break; I need a pregnant wife-to-be. We could help each other out."

After discussing the whole fake engagement/marriage arrangement Adrian is offering, Rowena asks: "I might be old-fashioned, but shouldn't you at least ask my name before you propose?"

Ground rules in the fake arrangement are established, legal documents are signed, and they agree to keep their relationship platonic while living in Adrian's penthouse. They devise a story about how they met, etc. When it's time to go through the motions of looking like a real couple at various social events, Rowena shines and Adrian plays his part well. Eventually, things change and feelings develop between them. (Readers know this will happen before starting the book. Because hellooo... it usually does!☺️)

This is a good story that tackles a couple of sensitive issues and the author handles them well. Of the few books I've read by Ms. Isley, they have not been graphic or overly violent. A few f-bombs are dropped, but nothing cringey.

I will most likely finish this series. Hunter and Dylan's story is next.

H/h meet when they are both throwing up in a public restroom for two very different reasons. him because he need to find himself a fiancé when he lies to his boss about having one and her because she is fired and is pregnant with her douche ex's baby. he proposes to marry her to solve both their problems and there comes the fake marriage. if you are into cheesy romance, you'll like this. i actually quite enjoyed it.

safety- he is not a hoe, he has only casual flings because of lack of time and energy and his last one ended when he met h. no ow/ om drama. h does go to inform her ex of the baby but he wants nothing to do with both of them.

Another highly enjoyable bookby Camilla Isley. She is becoming quite trusted for enjoyable rom coms. This is the 2nd instalment in the Funnt feelings trilogy with the first being Not another holiday romance which I finished in August and thoroughly enjoyed.
This one pretty much carries on where the epilogue of the 1st one ends except it follows Rowena's story after she finds out she's pregnant by her douchebag ex and finds herself with a complicated proposal fake marriage offer by workaholic millionaire Adrian.
This is a cosy story which spans over a year and although predictable is satisfying. I just wish these characters talked it out more and not be afraid to let the other know and ask what they are feeling or thinking instead of assuming. It's getting tedious for adults who should know better but thins one isn't too bad.
I look forward to the 3rd instalment which will be Hunter and. Dylan.

I absolutely adored Adrian and Rowena... their story was a roller coaster of emotions, I laughed, I cried a little bit at the end just because my heart was so full, I swooned a lot! And I also bit my lip from the tension of certain scenes ... The book opens with a scene in the future and I had no idea how these two would get there or why, and I couldn't put the book down until I found out.

Adrian has honestly been moved to my top book boyfriend. It's hard to have a powerful, older man (11 years), who's also a millionaire and ruthless in his job and make him a totally believable, super hot cinnamon roll. I wish he still needed a fake wife and that it could be me.

tropes:
Marriage of convenience
STEM FMC
Millionaire MMC
age gap
only one bed
falling in love after living together
forced proximity

[NET GALLEY READ #23]
4.25 ⭐

"Don't let fear hold you back from something wonderful."

Delightful.

Pros:
- Intriguing premise. Good characters.
- Well written. Dialogues are pretty good.
- Easy to read. A few big or fancy words here and there. But smooth sailing otherwise.
- Has that 'want to read the next chapter' quality.
- Not relevant but all I can think of after reading the name Rowena is Ravenclaw. The character is lovely, though.

Cons:
- Maybe a bit saccharine at a point or two. Otherwise, a good blend of funny and serious.

Other:
The first chapter with Adrian seemed a bit... wonky. It didn't click. But the next few were much much better. The backstory is sad and explains why the character is a workaholic.

Rowena's chapters were really good. Right from the start.
I like that she tells her friends everything from the start. There is no sneaking around and waiting for a few chapters til the friends find out.

Recommended. 👍

I really enjoyed reading Adrian and Rowena's story. For me, their "Meet-Puke" moment was the highlight of the book—it was both unexpected and memorable. I also loved the slow burn romance and the gradual build-up of their relationship, which made every moment feel even more rewarding. The fairy tale elements woven into the story added a charming touch that I truly appreciated.

Although I’m not usually a fan of miscommunication tropes or third-act breakups, I have to admit that everything came together beautifully in the end, making it all feel worthwhile.

I was happy to see K-2P the droid, especially since he’s one of my favorite characters, along with Reese and Thomas from The Love Algorithm. While their appearances were brief, it was nice to see them included in the story.

I’m excited to explore more books by the author and see what other stories await!

Thank you so so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this arc! I was just thinking of Camilla Isley a few days ago because I was wondering if she had any new releases and to my delight I received an email with this arc. Anytime I read anything from this author, I'm always like "spectacular, give me 14 of them right now". This book did not disappoint at all! Adrian was so sweet and thoughtful. I just simply could not put this down. Reading about Rowena and Adrian falling in love made me jealous cause when is it my turn?! I was so happy to also see some characters from "The Love Algorithm" including the very charming K-2P.. If you love the arranged marriage with an age gap trope then this is for you!

Before I even dive into the review, I have to commend Camilla on Chapter One! The intensity of that opening scene set the tone for the entire book. She gives you an emotional glimpse of what happened and where the characters are, pulling you to the edge of your seat until the very last line. Then, just when your curiosity peaks, she throws you back into the past, making you patiently wait to uncover how it all unfolds.

If the Ring Fits might seem like a straightforward marriage-of-convenience romantic comedy, but it’s so much more than that. The evolution of the characters alone made this a five-star read for me. The banter, the wit, and the overall plot were exceptional - as always with Camilla’s writing - but the transformation of Rowena and Adrian? That was a gift in itself.

Life seems determined to test just how much Rowena can endure before she breaks. First, she finds out she’s pregnant with her horrific ex-boyfriend’s baby. As she struggles with the possibility of Liam, the man she finally escaped, reentering her life, another devastating blow hits - she’s been let go from her job after being made redundant. Pregnant, unemployed, and on the verge of leaving her friends behind in New York to move back home, she can’t imagine things getting any worse… until a random stranger proposes to her in a bathroom!

Adrian has sacrificed everything for his career. Friends, relationships, a personal life - none of it mattered as long as he achieved his ultimate goal of becoming CEO. That dream seems within reach when his boss, Dominic, calls him and Preston into the office to announce his retirement and reveal that one of them will take over. Convinced the job is his, Adrian accidentally overhears the truth - his lack of a life, family, and responsibilities has ruled him out. The job is going to Preston. Thinking quickly, Adrian concocts a lie: he has a pregnant fiancée, proving he’s the perfect “family man” for the role. Now, all he has to do is make that little fib a reality.

What Adrian didn’t anticipate was how fast the universe would work in his favor, turning a chance meeting into the opportunity of a lifetime. Now, he has to convince the beautiful stranger that his outrageous idea is exactly what she needs, too. Mutually beneficial, six months tops, and they part ways - separate lives, no feelings, no complications. Because fake relationships are always that simple… right?

As I mentioned earlier, the way Camilla wrote the first chapter had me hooked like never before - I don’t think I’ve ever been so impatient to finish a book in my life! She crafted that opening chapter so perfectly, and as the story unfolded, with all the what ifs, near misses, and possibilities, each chapter pulled me closer to the edge of my seat. I was absolutely desperate to uncover what happened, what triggered the final turning point - it was pure, beautifully agonizing suspense!

I’ve only read a few of Camilla Isley’s books, and what I have read, I’ve absolutely loved. She has an incredible talent for creating fierce female protagonists who are shaped by their strength as survivors. They’ve been burned, they’ve been broken, and yet they persevere. Rowena embodied that same energy and essence, but what I truly appreciated this time was the opportunity to witness her rise from the ashes instead of just admiring the aftermath.

To say Rowena went through a lot would be a massive understatement - it doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the first few chapters! This poor woman was on the brink, holding on by a thread. She discovers she’s pregnant with her toxic ex-boyfriend’s baby, all while finally escaping that horrible relationship. Honestly, the number Liam did on her - if I were a cartoon character, steam would’ve been pouring out of my ears! But I’ll get into that more later. As if that weren’t enough, she finds out she’s being made redundant by her chauvinistic creep of a boss. And remember - this all happens before you even finish Chapter Two! Anyone else would have crawled under the covers and called it a day, a month, maybe even a year. But Rowena took it all in stride, and my admiration for her character skyrocketed.

That’s what made this story so powerful. Camilla seamlessly blended a strangers-to-lovers, fake relationship-turned-marriage-of-convenience trope with a self-discovery journey you’d typically find in “chick-lit” by authors like Sophia Kinsella or Lindsey Kelk. We truly knew Rowena - like, really knew her. We felt her struggles, understood her desires, and witnessed her relentless drive to remain independent.

I haven’t read the first book, so yes, there’s a bit of a spoiler for Nina and Tristan, but that’s okay - it only made me more eager to dive into their story! Plus, Camilla dropped a tantalizing hint about Dylan and Hunter, so I now fully intend to read both Book 1 and Book 3.

Like most of Camilla’s books, this is a closed-door romance, but that doesn’t mean it lacks heat. There are plenty of charged moments - heated glances, fire-igniting kisses, and perfectly timed fade-to-black scenes that leave you swooning. That said, this time Camilla decided to surprise her readers with a bonus spicy scene if you subscribe to her newsletter. Who knew she had it in her? I swear, I channeled my inner George Takei and threw out a few “Oh my’s”!

Camilla touched on so many important themes in this book. I could probably write a thesis on the psychological factors exhibited by the characters, but this is supposed to be a book review, so I’ll stay in my lane and stick to my role.

If the Ring Fits was the perfect blend of overcoming, acceptance, and evolution. From the first chapter to the last, Camilla has your heart in her hands. And though she puts it through its paces, she takes care of it - delivering a story that fills you with so much joy, you can’t help but thank her for the irregular heartbeat (and goofy grin) you’re left with when she finally returns it.

I’m beginning to think I’m out of sync - I am utterly puzzled by the number of books which are advertised as ‘hilariously funny, laugh out loud” romcoms and which don’t even raise a smile.

This was a neat premise but I simply couldn’t buy into the way the two characters behaved. Sorry - I saw no real reason why they couldn’t be together and I just found the pacing incredibly slow.

Adrian was simply annoying for most of the book. As for Rowena - when she abandoned Adrian on their wedding night and then ignores him for a week - I lost all interest. That was a cruel, unpleasant act. No justification at all. She’s simply a miserable, selfish cow. Her constant refusal to share her concerns with Adrian becomes very boring, very quickly.

Well done to the author for making her real enough for me to hate. 😊

I don’t find post partum depression at all funny or romantic and I don’t think it’s a suitable reason for a third act breakup in a romantic comedy.

The author is a good writer and I might have enjoyed this if I’d had more realistic expectations. It’s simply not my cup of tea but I imagine lots of readers will love it.

This had so many of my favorite tropes: marriage of convenience, fake dating, “uh oh, there’s only one bed in here” but the execution was just so blah. The way they meet by puking next to each other in the bathroom? That was a choice. The way the whole beginning was dragged out and then the third act incredibly rushed and anticlimactic? Boring. And the overall lack of chemistry and tension (the FMC would randomly act super immature and desperate and somehow he was into that? The MMC was cardboard and had weird hang ups for not wanting to get involved) just made this not really worth the read.

Thank you to netgalley for this arc ☺️

Personally the tropes here are some of my faves (well, except the accidental pregnancy, I'm always icky about that) like the fake dating/engagement, marriage of convenience, age gap, slow burn, forced proximity, only one bed 🥰 Some of the banter are really witty and I was rooting for the characters too. It kinda irks me how all the characters in a romance book have to be good looking though, like why is every single person including the supporting cast very good looking? And the whole premise of the plot is just so unrealistic, so take that into consideration that this will probably never happen to us 😭🤣 I was also pleasantly surprised at the mentions of mental health issues at the end and it was something I really related to which made me more sympathetic to FMC. It got way cheesier at the end though 😅 But I appreciated that the open door spice was put as an extra scene at the end with a warning. So the whole book only has closed door romance, yay for me ☺️

Thank you to NetGalley for the copy to read and review this book! This is a 3/3.5 star book in my opinion. The concept was just not for me and I wasn’t a fan of the whole pregnancy plot - just not for me. At times the book was a bit cringey for me and the main male character was not a hit. However, I did think the ending of the book was well done and gave closure in a way - and who doesn’t like a happy ending! I also have to give props to the author as the writing is very well done and I couldn’t help but notice the detail and attention put into that writing. Although this book wasn’t a winner for me, I’m a fan of the author and will look at other books read - it’s just the storyline wasn’t for me.

I really enjoyed the first book, This is Not a Holiday Romance, so I was excited to read this one too. I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience story. The meet cute was a total NOT meet cute, in that both ended up puking in bathroom stalls right next to each other! But it was perfect to lead up to how the story was going to go.

There was so much of the usual miscommunication or not telling the other when the feelings got deeper, just as you would expect from a story like this. In fact it was a whole misunderstanding based on this type of issue that led to the 3rd act breakup. But that also played into the post-partum depression aspect of the story. It was nice how the two of them complemented each other in the relationship. And how Adrian really was trying to help her behind the scenes too.

Now, when we got to the end, I feel like it was a little rushed as well as removed from the situation with the break up and all that, but I wonder if the author was trying to make us feel like Rowena was feeling with her PPD?

In the end another good story from this author, and I think maybe there is a friends to lovers romance on the horizon with some of the characters left in the friend group?

I could not have loved this book any more than I did. It is the perfect combination of strangers to lovers with witty banter. I’ve read several books by this author and am always impressed with her writing style that is full of awkward events, laugh out loud scenes, and wonderful characters. Adrian and Rowena meet as they are both throwing up in the bathroom! How is that for a start to your relationship?!? My favorite part was the beginning of the story where Rowena is meeting Adrian to sign divorce papers but she loves him. This immediately hooked me and I wanted to know what happens to them. An excellent romcom that will leave you feeling happy!

I absolutely loved this book, it had everything you want in a cute rom com. The MCs were amazing and I loved them both so much! It was funny and witty, the banter was great, there were tender scenes that made you swoon plus an optional steamy bonus chapter for the readers that want a bit of spice (which I also appreciated because I could skip and know I didn’t miss any of the story). I really didn’t want their story to end, I can’t wait for the next couple in the series either.

The h is more invested than the H and that's just not my thing. She propositioned him and he turned her down

you have to be kidding me! i read a romance book recently and enjoyed it so i thought i'd try another one and none of the fun stuff was even written out :( what's the damn point. the plot is ridiculous, the characters are flat, and i put up with all of it for a clean romance??? i'm disappointed but it's not the author's fault, i probably should have looked at reviews. damn. i have let myself down big time here.

I love how easy Camilla’s books are to read, they have a really nice flow to them and this one was no different. I did like both the main characters but this isn’t a trope I enjoy personally, still a quick and easy read though!

I had things to say about this, but honestly I can’t remember much of them.

I remember that I thought the ending was dumb, that the FMC had bad friends, and that her husband should’ve realized that she had postpartum depression a lot earlier.

I also remember hating that the entire time they had worse communication skills than the two year old I used to babysit.

Absolutely loved this book. The characters were so brilliantly written and the plot was very clever. I just couldn’t figure out how the beginning was going to fit with the rest of the book until it all happened. Even my boyfriend (who wasn’t reading the book) wanted updates after he read three random pages and I shared the plot!

5 ⭐️

I adored this with every fibre of my being; it was the perfect blend of a marriage of convenience and an opposites-attract romance. It reminded me so much of Marriage for One, which I absolutely loved.

I can’t lie the opening chapter really had me, and I was wondering how this was going to go, and the their unusual meet sick (shall we say) was so uniquely done, I just loved how it set the stage for Rowena and Adrian. The way it all came together was so beautiful, it was easily a 5 star read for me. It’s one of those reads I can definitely see myself coming back to and reading again!!

It had me kicking my feet and grinning like a fool. Rowena and Adrian were everything they didn’t realise they needed in each other, and watching their connection bloom was pure joy.

I finished this in less than a day and it was so good, like so fucking good, omgg— the way I’m just smiling to myself, all emotional, too because it was so freaking sweet.

A quick note: while there’s no on-page spice, the tension and the little moments shared between Rowena and Adrian more than made up for it—they were just so perfect for each other. There is a spicy bonus scene at the end, which I absolutely loved too! All in all, this was everything I wanted and more.
