Broken Ashes #4

Forging Bonds - Part One

Rate this book
It still throws me through a loop, my magic is only just starting to develop, and it’s not strong enough to help me in any real way. Not that I could use it anyway because it’s important that I appear human to the supe who is working with HID to capture and do god knows what to supernaturals.

The Choosing is broadcast to most supes and there is a big chance that whoever it is will see it.

Help from an unexpected place may be just what I need to make it out of this alive, and with my guys.

I just hope I’m not putting my trust and life in the wrong hands.

This is a paranormal Reverse Harem.
Warnings: Please be advised that this book contains dark themes, including abuse, graphic violence, flashbacks to past abuse, and cursing. Additionally, sexual themes suitable for mature audiences 18+.

Finally

At 54% I was screaming “get on with it already!” But then the author finally made some progress with the plot. Not a lot but some. Not to worry though because she brought up more questions. But there is serious work that needs to be done with editing. The randomness of the split between chapters was odd and stunted. But seriously, I adore Nikita Parmenter but this book was mostly filler just to stop at the most inappropriate time. I know it’s to sell books but this wasn’t a cliffhanger, it was like the end of a chapter and she just stopped the book and said “that’s enough, I’ll finish in the next book.”

Really Dragging It Out

The storyline is REALLY getting unnecessarily long. ADHD rambles are far too frequent and there is NO real progression in the storyline or the romance. This is the slowest burn I've dealt with in some time.

I get wanting to make money but padding in extra books to stretch out the story is ridiculous. I'm about to give up on this author and series. Read at your own peril.

extremely frustrating

This is the first review I’ve given for this series. I can’t hold it in anymore. The premise of this series is really good. However, the absolute lack of getting any answers to the over abundance of questions is so extremely frustrating that I have to take frequent breaks. This whole series could have been a trilogy if the books were 400-500 pages rather than 200. Which only tells me that it’s set up this way to generate more $ for the author. This is book 4 and there is already 2 more in the lineup. Is that going to be all or are we looking at 5 more after that? I really want to enjoy this series but the things I’ve listed are really holding me back.
Book 4 and we finally have a little kissing. It’s so slow it’s ridiculous. Idk, maybe it’s just me but I had to vent.

I cannot with this series anymore. The story has potential but the books are so poorly edited it makes it impossible to read. No progression in the romances or the story at this point, just more questions. The chapters and POV split randomly, the repetitive phrases, the lack of consistency in CHARACTER NAMES across books. I skipped multiple pages at a time because it was just a long ramble that has already been said 1000 times.

Broken Ashes #4

I still love this series and of course will continue. But, please fix the first 100 pages. I appreciate that there are far fewer grammatical errors, except for all the errant commas. The run on sentences and convoluted conversations are so irritating, though. As in book 2, every dialogue consists of each character commenting on the same issue. Oh I need to do this, then that, then ask so and so this. The various issues shoot into the conversation like fireworks, never really resolved, just talked about. Plus, each issue takes forever to explain despite us all knowing about them. Then someone says "he" and you have to go back ten pages to figure out who "he" is. Or a question is asked and characters' thoughts take over in completely different directions. When the answer comes you have no idea what's happening. There are no logical chapters just POV changes that have chapter formats, but simply continue the action without pause. Thank goodness the Choosing begins in this book, at least it provides some action. I did enjoy the last 200 pages - either the stream of consciousness lessened or I got used to it. How many members are on the Draconian team? I thought only four but it seems to be growing? Despite this critique I love the story and its creativity.

Crud editing/changing names

This is the fourth book in what could be an amazing series, sadly after reading the first book I realized that editing would be an issue.

I'm honestly a bit shocked that the rating is so high on this series, but maybe it's enjoyment of the story (it is fantastic) in addition to the regular editing problems the blacksmith/weapon guys name is now Luke instead of Lewis, and the sword that was at first a female, then a male she named Asael is now Azael. I guess at least that is only a letter difference instead of a whole name change?? Ugh... Sigh.. the whole series need sent of to both and editor and a content person, with some changes I'd most definitely give it 5 stars

I’m a chronic read in one sitting and I’ve had to take multiple long breaks from the books in this series. Superrrr dragged out and conversations repeated.

I’m only going to read the last two books in the series when they come out because I want to confirm all my theories and find out what she is.

Next book is out 30th June and the last one is 30th July, don’t reread and just read it.

Good story, kind of slow

There is a tad too much pointless dialog that drags on. This is a reverse harem but the spice level is a 0/5. This is the 4th book, I expected relationship development between the FMC and at lease one or two of the MC’s.

Good

WARNING! Cliffhanger! This is a 4.5/5 level- meaning some pretty big things are happening, and we’ve left them in the thick of things!

Picking up from the cliffhanger in book three, Neith and the others are together in Ireland, finishing their task before heading home to practise for the Choosing.
Of course, things don’t go exactly to plan, as Neith and her team find themselves entering the trials a little sooner than anyone had planned.

This book is a little bit of a contradiction; it both has a lot happening in it, and yet not much at all! On the technical front, our team starts in Ireland at House, heads through the portal, hands in the drive, and heads home. There they are called into the dimension where the choosing occurs- so like I said, it doesn’t seem like much. However, a lot of things happen at each of those stages: not necessarily big events, but small ones that are important, and provide us with a lot of information; about some of our heroes, a few new characters on the side, about our heroine’s past and her magic- lots of important revelations!
It makes for a very fast paced book, with a number of “a-HA!” and “I KNEW it!” moments, that only serve to make us want more.

So this is NOT a standalone, and definitely needs to be read in order, as Neith’s story gradually unfolds throughout the books. It is a reverse harem romance, but very little steam has occurred on page as yet (for a very good reason, but it does make me wonder a little about her history with Coen and Dimitri and how that might have applied then!?).
That being said, there is plenty of action, adventure, and violence (plus some really nasty actions being taken by the bad guys), that makes this a book not for the faint hearted.
An engrossing adventure, I know I’m not alone in being somewhat impatient for the next installment, and to find out how the Choosing will go!

The story is very interesting and I’m mostly enjoying the story but it is FAR too wordy and repetitive. I get that the main character is supposed to be a rambler and that’s fine but the entire book is that way, not just her character.

The author is trying to over explain every little thing; leaving nothing up to the imagination. You don’t need to explain every thought and emotion the character has.

Additionally, every single thing is repeated a million times over and over and it is so inefficient. The books could be a third the size that they are. I kept reading because I am genuinely enjoying the story but I had to do a lot of speed reading and skipping over sections because I just couldn’t stand the repetition.

Also, I was getting tired of the characters repeating things like “I agree”, “that makes sense”, etc. every time a character makes an observation. Once I started noticing the trend I couldn’t unsee it and it started to drive me nuts.

Lastly, the chapters start and end in very strange places. Almost always it’s smack dab in the middle of a conversation. It makes no sense and makes it harder to put down and pick up the book again because I have to try to remember what conversation they are having even though I was at the start of a chapter.

I gave the book 4 stars because of the story but honestly it’s only 2-3 stars in terms of writing due to the things I mentioned previously.

I *BLEEPIN* LOVED IT!!

I will start off by saying that I truly enjoy reading Nikita Parmenter's work. I like all of her characters. With that being said, Neith is hands down my favorite FMC. (A REALLY close second is Farren from her Black Onyx series.) I love how weird, blood thirsty, and quirky Neith is right from the beginning of the series.

This is a slow burn series. I have read reviews that said they were disappointed that there isn't enough spice. I actually think there is just enough. I love how the characters and relationships are developing. It makes it seem more real than a lot of insta-lust.

And I just want to say "I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!" :) Some of the foreshadowing she has written in the first three books comes to light in this one. Again, I was ready to throw my phone when I flipped the page, and it was the last one. (I didn't, because you know, phone.)

This book didn't disappoint in the slightest. I am really looking forward to part two!

Parmenter Rules

So it just keeps getting better, it falls into that gift that just keeps giving category. I didn't think I could find something that could out do the finding my home books, (also by Nikita Parmenter). But I was wrong she has a talent for strong lovable and funny heroines with lots of sass and hot sexy guys that would burn the world down for her, and let's be honest what girl could ask for more, the no matter the odds against them story line they have her back is just what you want to curl up to with a glass of wine. I think this set will be add to my but and keep list.

Magic, extinct supes and more

I loved this book! We finally get a few clues into Neith! Coen and Dimititri are definitely not what it may seem! The blue guy references crack me up since he is definitely not funny but how he is always referenced by Neith and her men is hilarious but serious... kelpies, spirit guides, magic, mystery and fighting! Definitely a slow burn but damn you will hardly notice that with the tension that's building! The guys are also developing and growing as Neith does and I'm excited to see how they deal with their challenges to come!

Good Read

I really could scream, just as everything is starting to get really good and things are being brought to light the book ends on a cliffhanger!!! So much was revealed in this book but as usual there were just as many questions left. I really enjoyed the story, it’s highly addictive and I can’t wait for the next book to release so I can continue on this journey with the characters. Speaking of characters, they’re really awesome too. I just love Neith, she’s a total badass and her inner ramblings are just fantastic. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Forging Bonds

Neith is awsome in this book and her men are very supportive. The choosing is happening and as we get to learn more about who Neith is and some other nice revelations we have more to discover. The ending gave us a good amount but will make you want the next one now. I was so upset that it was ending because I was so wanting to know more. And can't wait to get that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There has yet to be a book by this awesome author that I haven't absolutely loved. Her writing is so creative and captivating. I was really sick for almost a year, like knocking on deaths door sick and I am still not 100%. I lost my will to read or do much of anything. This series has made reading enjoyable again. Thank you so much for writing such great books that are really worth reading.

Attention Stealing!

As always, Nikita’s done it again, another gripping story puzzle piece for Neith and her men. Can’t wait to read more in part two, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting for the cliffhanger that I knew was gonna come and it did. but it’s just so good, so intriguing, so ughhhhh! Can’t wait for the next puzzle pieces, thank you Nikita! ❤️

They are awesome.

I have found that your books have unusual and sensational men. Neith has attracted a group of guys who support her completely. I love Betty and her sword. I love all of your books. The story is excellent and mysterious. I hate waiting but when they got pulled into the choosing, I felt better.

Love this so much! So many twists and turns. As many questions that were answered new questions came out. I’m normally really good at figuring out all twists and turns but this one had a few I wasn’t expecting.

I am having such a good time on this journey. The characters are serious, but are full of little quirks. The story keeps you trapped, dying to know what's next. A really good read! 😊
