Helping my grumpy ex hide his secret life as a single dad rockstar? Definitely not my New Year’s resolution—neither was falling for him all over again.
After a failed publishing deal, I returned home to find peace. Instead, I find Ryan, my high school sweetheart, living next door.
Years ago, he ditched me to chase fame. Now, he’s a gentleman grump, raising his daughter away from the spotlight.
Call it weakness, but I agree to help him stay under the radar. Between playgrounds, ice cream, and the way he looks at his little girl, I get pulled back in.
My calm, awkward vibe clashes with his outgoing charm—and it’s magnetic. A private mini-concert he plays just for me says more than words ever could. His eyes whisper a melody I can’t ignore.
With his comeback concert looming, his label wants him scandal-free.
But will I become the scandal, putting his career and image at risk? Will he leave me to protect his fame—and break my heart again?
Evelyn Tanner loves all things sweet romance with socially awkward heroines and charming gentleman heroes—stories that melt your heart. Happily-ever-afters are a must. While crafting her stories, she loves to have green tea and sweet treats within reach. When she’s not working on her books, she enjoys cooking up something (hopefully) delicious in her kitchen, chasing her son at the playground, and hiking to soak up nature. Evelyn lives in California with her loving husband and adorable son.
Is a sweet small town, second chance, sunshine/grumpy, single dad romance with no cliffhanger. I love Lily she brings light, laughter and endearing moments as only a five year old can. Some of the lines I really like --- “You’ve got more strength than you realize. I’ve seen it. Today wasn’t exactly a breeze, and you handled it.” --- They reminded me of what hope looks like and the courage I thought I’d lost. --- finding light in the darkness and believing in second chances. --- “You’re already good enough, Jenna. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.” --- "I’m trying so hard to be what people need that I forget what I need.” --- This stage isn’t about fame or perfection. It’s not about chasing applause. It’s about something real. Something worth fighting for. ----- -- second chances and finding light in the dark. It's about loss and hope and the courage it takes to start over. --- "I’ve realized that being true to myself is the only way to make it through. If I try to be someone I’m not, it’ll just feel empty.” --------- Will Jenna try to write and get her manuscript published again? What's Damon up to? Will the town stand behind and protect Ryan from the press? These and other questions will all be answered. I loved Jenna and Ryan's story and I'm sure you will too. She's a new author to and I can't wait to read her next book.
Cozy Vibes Given... This book put me in the feels of a small town summer afternoon. Gilmore girls came to mind every now and then while reading this. Also, tea comes out a lot so don't be surprised if you end up sipping some while reading which just adds on to the cozy feels... Jenna and Ryan's second chance happens while she is helping him hide out from the pressure of his job while she is rethinking life choices as well. During the "hiding", which in my opinion he didn't do very well, and Lillys unknown matchmaking their romance is rekindled. There are small moments where it was predictable, but also moments where I cheered the growth of each of them. Hopefully a follow up happens so we can see where they go next. Great story if you just want a to unwind and see love win.
Sweet, clean second chance romance which takes place in a small town. Jenna and Ryan get a second chance when they both come back home to rethink their choices and get away from the pressure of their careers. His manager and her editor are pressuring them to get back to work, although his manager is more of a jerk about it. Ryan's daughter is so cute and is one of the reasons he came back home as he wants her to have a stable home life and not be in the limelight. Some moments are kind of predictable, but there are moments where they each grow and have you cheering them on. I received an ARC copy of the book and this is my honest review.
