What an INCREDIBLE reading.
I usually don’t like to read in the 3rd person but I will honestly say that wasn’t bad AT ALL.
The writing was ON POINT,
it had everything i want to find in a dark romance book.
The tension, the relationships between the characters, the plot that NEVER let it down and that made me hold my breath, and the spice,
OMG THE SPICE was to die for.
I NEED book 2, I need to know what’s gonna happen.

Bound by Her is a dark romance that delivers tension, spice, layered characters, with a fierce and complex fmc. Adria, is strong and powerful not because shes a Domme but because she fought and crawled her way to where she is now. Adria is the head of her family and part of a secret society called The Nine, made up of the nine most powerful families. In her world she has learned that trust is a weakness and gaining power isn’t enough, you have to fight to keep it. Adria is known as the Ice Queen and the best submissive trainer on the east coast. A rival family comes to her with a deal that she is forced into accepting. A part of this deal requires her to train Bryson,the heir to the Winters family, as a sexual submissive for a year. He is known for his ruthlessness and unpredictable behavior, which has led to the other families questioning his ability to lead. Bryson is forced to go by his father when he treatens his brothers Kayden and Seth. They try to bide their time and make things as difficult as possible for Adria. Failure is not an option and when they learn just how dire their situation is, they want to work with Adria to have a successful auction. Adria has never had a relationship with her submissives, but she is struggling to fight her feelings. It took me a while to get into the story because it’s told in the third person pov. I was pulled into the story with the impressive writing and multifaceted characters. The addition of unknown characters and hidden identities added to the tension and mystery of the tangled web that is at play. The cliffhanger revealed secrets and will leave you craving. Make sure you read the author’s note and content warning before reading. Along with some very spicy scenes and BDSM themes, there are dark elements portrayed.

Can an artwork convince me to read a book? Yes. Will my sister screaming about it make me want to read it even more? Also yes.

This is what happened with Bound By Her, which was also the August Heartstrings and Lore book club pick. This is a dark reverse harem BDSM romance where she is the dom. The story follows Adria, the leader of a secret organization family that deals with training men to become submissives. But she's stuck training her rival’s son and his two closest friends after striking a deal. She can’t keep them, but the boys don’t make it easy on her!

This book was a fun read…in a dark romance why choose kind of way. The spicy goodness starts off soon into the book, but it does in no way detract from the complexity of the characters and their dynamics, which is the thing that I enjoyed the most. Adria is such a strong female lead, and I love seeing her interaction with the guys. The why choose romances I tend to prefer always have a close bond among the guys, and this was no exception. Bryson, Kaydon and Seth have a beautiful friendship, a true found family. Does this mean things are easy? Not at all. Especially with Bryson and Adria butting heads all the time, neither one of them wanting to submit. And the whole point is that he needs to learn to submit so you can see the issue here.

I’m VERY excited to see how the story continues in the next book. I will not say more but damn, now I understand my sister’s reaction. She almost tossed the book when she read the ending, and honestly? Same. And I mean this in the best way.

I highly recommend to lovers of dark romance and everything morally gray.

Mafia and bdsm is not something i have read before! Definitely an interesting story with very detailed characters! The fmc is one of the strongest ive read! Shes very well written.

I dont know how accurate the bdsm representation is but you could tell detailed research was done.

The only part i felt like i got lost a little was around the nine and the triune, i felt like i need more explanation there but maybe i just missed it?

Overall it was a very different read for me but the story and plot keeps you wanting to know whats happening.

Our guys are intrigued by the dominant woman… but the dynamic between them all individually and then as a group !!!!

This book was a wild and intense read as it had my stomach in knots. I gave this 4.5 and I can't wait to read the next book. When I say my stomach was in knots it was from start to finish.

First with the frustration of Bryson because he was just so arrogant and letting his ego get in the way and you as the reader know what's on the line and what could happen if he doesn't get his shit together. But even as a character he was aware to some degree of what could happen which made it even more frustrating because again ego and eventually he has a wakeup call to what is going on, but this wakeup call comes at the expense of one of his "brothers". This just pissed me off because even follow the "wakeup" while he was more aware of what was going on he STILL had instances of his arrogance coming into play. It sucks the only time he learned and progressed in the book was always at the expense of someone else. So, he definitely got my blood pressure up.

Then with the story as it progressed things kept building and building and I knew there was going to be a twist at the end but there were so many ways this could have happened, and I just loved that because I had no idea which it could be. I don't want to give it away but there were so many people who had their own plans in place that they were working to achieve their goal that which one was going to be the one that succeeded and then how was it going to be thwarted. Because along with everyone having their own plans and schemes almost everyone had something on the line if they failed so the stakes were high.

I also really enjoyed that this was a book centered around a female Domme. I will admit that I have not read a lot of those, and the 1 or 2 I have read I just didn't like the way they portrayed the FMCs. But with this book I loved the way the author portrayed Adria that it actually makes me want to look into more books with that type of dynamic. The ones in the past had the FMC trying so hard to prove that they are dominate or strong enough to do this and get the men to submit to them that it felt awkward and forced but Adria was the perfect blend of strong, competent in her own skills, not trying to break her subs in to just break them in as roughly as possible but to break them and rebuild them in a way that would have them grow as a sub/person but we also got points in the book where we got to see her vulnerable side not just in her stories of the past but also things she goes through in the book. She along with the MMCs were just very layered characters that I really appreciated. Now for the MCs you have Bryson who like I said at the start frustrated me for so much of the book but who he was at the end of the book is 100% a different man and actually became someone I liked and respected for the grownup choices he was having to make. Now for the next two Kayden and Seth and I really liked them. I think of the Three MMCs Seth might be my favorite bc I think he was in some ways the most damaged but also the most dangerous. It was remarked many times because he had less unalivings to his name he was the one everyone should keep an eye on bc he was the darker of the three and I agree. Kayden was dedicated but also had a joke to crack so I appreciated him when the tension was getting too much.

Now along with the complex characters and great plot there was some great spice that went on as well. With the FMC or with the MCs and even a little with the FMC and MMCs. All of really well done and very enjoyable.


So, like I said had a great time reading it and can't wait to see what happens next.


This book is about Adria who doesn't kneel for anyone as she is the one who commands it. It took a lot of work to get here as she inherited her father's position in the nine when she was barely an adult. As a result, she was pushed down in the secretive and violent organization. So, she had to crawl and fight her way back to the top in an organization where power is everything and trust is a luxury none can afford. She is close to making it back to her family's old spot when a past deal made by her father may put it all her plans into jeopardy and she is boxed into a corner and has to take three men into her home to train as one of her subs. But ideal subs they are not as they are reckless, arrogant boys playing at being men too volatile to see what is truly going on. But she has to train them and break them so that she can mold them to her will because failure is not an option in this dangerous game of power. But as their training progresses lines become blurred and the cost of it might be her control or at least the feelings of wanting to for the first time in her life. For a woman with everything on the line the thing she never thought she would lose is her heart.

Okay… I was not prepared for how hard this book would hit. As someone who reads a lot of dark romance, I thought I knew what to expect—crime families, kink, enemies to lovers, a possessive love interest or three. But Bound By Her absolutely blew me away.

Adria is one of the most unforgettable female leads I’ve ever read. She’s powerful, calculating, terrifyingly sexy, and yet deeply kind in a way that makes her dominance feel earned rather than forced. Her relationships are built on trust and respect, and as someone involved in the BDSM community, I found the portrayal of consensual power dynamics to be both refreshing and shockingly accurate.

That’s not to say it’s all safe and soft—there are dark themes, moments of questionable consent, and scenes that push boundaries. But that intensity is layered with emotional depth, political intrigue, found family, and moments that made me laugh, cry, and want to scream into a pillow (in a good way).

First off, I’m gonna say I’m not a femme dom type of person. It’s not my cup of tea but……BUT…this book was fantastic. The whole storyline had me hooked! The characters are absolutely enthralling and captivating!

So Adria….I highly enjoyed her character. I may not be into her being a Dom in the bedroom but I highly, highly enjoy a strong female character and she was great. (I actually very much enjoyed how she put a certain MMC in his place!) and those MMCs I tell ya….wow….so fucking hot they could melt an iceberg! 😮‍💨

The character building and growth for everybody kept me hooked throughout the book. I really enjoyed the dynamic between them and watching the relationships grow and change. The fact they didn’t realize how much they each helped each other through their traumas….just so good, ugh😩🤌.

That epilogue tho man…..makes me scared for the next book, cause I feel like it’s gonna hurt! But I’m ready to be hurt again. I need to know what happens! (Also, I knew that dude was sus….IYKYK! ) Thank you MZ Rylan for letting me experience this emotional and engrossing story!

This was a surprising, unique, and sexy read! I didn’t realize going into it that it was in third person and typically I cannot handle that at all however the prologue captured me right away and I was able to look past that a bit and enjoy the root of the story.

There was a lot happening but it was well plotted out. I’ve read some books with BDSM in it and I really enjoyed her take on everything. You can tell that she is well versed in the space and can bring respect and care to the topic. Mixing it up with the mystery and suspense of the secret society just brought the story to a whole different level.

I really enjoyed the creativity of this book!

If you love dark why choose romances and a badass FMC, this needs to be on your TBR! I loved the tension and secrets and twists. We meet Adria as she inherits her father’s position in The Nine. From the very beginning I was rooting for her - she is smart and strong and a total badass.

Bryson, Kaydon and Seth end up under her control, and her job is to break them….but maybe it’s not as simple as it seems!!!

No spoilers but you are going to stay up way too late saying “just one more chapter!”

I can guarantee that I did not expect this book to go the way it did in such a good way… this is not a typical romance book in any shape or form and that is what makes me even more obsessed with it. Seth, Bryson and Kaydon definitely started out on my shit list but by the end of the story I think I was as in love with them as Adria was. And Adria as the FMC?? Immaculate. She was a fierce, strong, badass woman that realizes she’s got the power but it’s ok to lean on others. This girl has had a rough life and those experiences has turned her into the best at what she does. However, I could have done without the cliffhanger of the book because I’m chomping at the bit to get the second book.

This was a completely different subject matter than I have ever been interested in. But it told the story and life of BDSM culture very well. I loved the storyline and the characters. I will read the next, as the book ended on a cliffhanger.

She's been spending years trying to rebuild her empire after her fathers death, slowly crawling her way up from the bottom. She's thrown off track when she's given the son of another leader and his two men to train to be sexual submissives and capable replacements when he dies. Failure means death, but so does rejecting the deal outright. Now it's on her to turn three wild and very unwilling men into leaders and submissives in one year - when she's not sure they'll crawl for anyone.

I loved this one! I went in blind and was aware of some secret society stuff, but really didn't know what else to expect. Having the FMC be the leader of one of the families, as well as a Domme with a stable of submissive men she trains was incredible. Not only was she firm and confident, but also layered and human. Getting a dive into her past and what formed her into the kind of leader, as well as woman she is was impeccably done. She's had so much tragedy and yet she used her position for good, despite curating a reputation as a ruthless and cruel Mistress.

I also loved how casually and naturally the bisexual and polyamorous rep were brought into the story as well. I love a why choose and usually dislike when the men are so standoffish towards each other or barely even have friendships. Instead having the men come from a preemptive relationship with each other, deep with love and respect was everything this needed to set it apart.

The entire tone of the novel, how each male lead had different motivations and depths and were forced into this arrangement - yet Adria was able to bring them to heel in her own way, kept me so captivated. How they all opened each other up to safety and trust was beautifully done. With the underhanded subterfuge and that cliffhanger at the end, I'm so impatient for the second book in this duet to come.

Was I prepared for the range of emotions this book evoked in me? NO! I never thought this dark romance would go after my heart like that! And let me tell you, that ending was criminal!!!

This book follows Adria, the fiercest and most complex FMC I've read in a while. She's the head of a mafia family, trying to do things her way. Adria is known as the Ice Queen and one of the best submissive trainers known to The Nine. That's how she gets trapped into training the three men who are going to change her life.

Bryson, Kayden, and Seth are so different than each other, but the love they feel makes them a fearless unit. Bryson is also the head of one of the nine families and is the most stubborn of all. The deal they have with Adria will turn into a complex and emotional relationship between them. I wasn't expecting to find the development of this relationship so beautiful, but M.Z. Rylan did their thing.

I'm so mad and sad about that ending, so please give me the next book ASAP, or I'm going to continue to cry my eyes out! Thank you, Love Notes PR and M.Z. Ryland, for this amazing opportunity to read this as an ARC.

I totally just found a new favorite author by reading this one!! I absolutely binged this book in two sittings cause it’s a good size one. It kept me up wayyyy past my bedtime but truly that’s how you know you’ll love it. This is everything I love having in my darker books! From tension I could literally feel coming out my kindle at me 😅 Adria is one of those FMCs I’m wishing I could be! She’s just amazingly strong, so powerful and just absolutely an unforgettable character. The spice in this is top tier and totally had me melting. The why choose aspect was written so good and i ate it up!! That ending just has me needing the next book ASAP!!

This book was different from what I usually read by having Adria a Mistress / Domme. But it was such an amazing book! Her slowly growing attraction towards her 3 unruly, chaotic boys. The twists and turns, the back and forth between Adria and the boys, the charcaters progression, the spicy scenes, everything was amazingly written. Beautiful. I try so hard to steer clear of continuous series because I loathe cliffhangers & have to wait for the next release lol, but I am so glad I got to read this.

Whew 🥵 this was so good! The backstabbing, the deceit, and familial violence is…insane. I love that Adria just didn’t know who to trust throughout the whole book and I cannot wait to see where it goes in the next book, especially with that cliffhanger.

Whoa. What a fresh and unique dark romance!

This book surprised me in a great way. I mean, I knew what I was getting into but I didn't know how I would feel and how I would react to this spicy dark romance with BDSM. I guess I wasn't PREPARED for what I was getting into but I was here for it!

For this being one of my first dark romances with heavy BDSM details, I was intrigued and captivated! The story and characters hooked me and took me for a ride!

This was a dark one. Definitely check your triggers! There are scenes that had me cringing even though I don’t have triggers to worry about.
While dark, it was a really good read watching the story play out of the MCs navigating the situation they ended up in. If you like darker themes then this is definitely for you.

Oh. My. God! This book was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The tension from the get go was incredible! The dynamic between the MC’s is perfect and shows all their individuality and then as a group! This was just amazing and the plot *chefs kiss*. I am sitting here waiting to see where this story can go from here!!
