This book was so entertaining - it reminded me of a cross between Thelma & Louise and Shirley Valentine. Following the story of a 49 year old woman who has been recently affected by romance fraud, and a journalist in her 20s, this story took the women from Monte Carlo to Tangier in the name of making someone accountable.

I loved all of the characters in this book. Being in my early 40s I still related to Maggie, our 49 year old protagonist, much more than to Flick, the energetic eco conscious journalist. I too am constantly having to explain pop-culture references to my younger colleagues! But out of all the characters, my favourite was George, Maggie’s best friend, who reminded me of a Richard Curtis character, in all the best ways.

The story takes you on a trip from Monte Carlo to Rome, to the Amalfi Coast and Ibiza, and onwards. During your journey, you get to sample the atmosphere of each of the places they visit, as well as learning about the character’s present and past. I have visited quite a few of the places Maggie and Flick travelled to and it was almost like revisiting them again.

This book was a good time from start to end. At no point was I bored or wishing for more action. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to read about real life and the fallout of its darker side (but not too dark), but also the bonds of women and our resilience.

Thank you to Pan MacMillan for this ARC of So, I Met This Guy.

So I met this guy - Alexandra Potter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a fun one, from start to finish. You get a real feel for the characters along the way especially Maggie & Flick, written very well making it very enjoyable, Maggie & flick shared an age-gap friendship that blossomed while chasing a romance fraudster along Europe’s coastline. It was heartwarming and funny all at once. If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is!

A wonderful story.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book, I was very excited about this one!

This book is out on 29th January 2026!

49 year old Maggie is living in a caravan on a friend's farm having lost her home and business to a romance fraudster. When Flick, a twenty-something local reporter, is sent to interview her, an unlikely friendship and trek across Europe begins. Maggie wants to confront Theo to his lying face and Flick is hoping for her big break story. They set off to his last known location of Monte Carlo with nothing but Flick's credit card, but quite quickly come into enough money for a real adventure to begin. Along the way they meet feisty American heiress Birdie, a character that I absolutely loved for her no-nonsense attitude. They follow the cruise he's on by driving from port to port, and on the way they heal each other a little bit every day.

It's a story of found family, female rage and a search for justice all set to a backdrop of stunning locations. I only wish it had come out while I was on a cruise earlier this year, visiting quite a few of the same places they do! It's a great read with all the good feels by the end.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

A novel about Maggie, a woman who is conned out of her life savings and home by her boyfriend, Theo. She teams up with a young reporter named Flick to hunt him across Europe, from Monte Carlo to Tangier. The story is a mix of adventure and comedy that explores friendship, romance, and self-discovery as they go on the run to expose the fraudster.

I would highly recommend this book, it was amazing. I loved the plot of having to find the con man and flick and maggies friendship growing throughout their quest. There was a slight plot twist at the end, was slightly predictable but still created tension and made you want to keep reading.

Absolutly loved this book....light hearted, full of humour and such an easy read. Kept me wanting to read more to see how it ended.

2 highly unlikely characters with an age difference, thrown together....travelling across Europe in the hunt for a stole watch.

Maggie, 49, a woman now living in a caravan with a huge cash flow issue having been fleeced by her boyfriend who has now fled. Flick, a struggling young journalist who is trying to make her mark within the profession. Writing an article on women who have been cheated on, these 2 characters develop a friendship which sees them chasing a cruise ship around Europe where the elusive boyfriend is supposedly travelling.

A really lovely relationship between these 2 women, who despite their age gap, share many values and traits.

A truly heart warming read- highly recommend.

Rounded up.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zibby for this ARC.

This is a light, cute story of two quite different women who go on an adventure to catch a thief. It reminded me of a movie that you'd find on Lifetime. There's some interesting backstory, but overall it didn't feel believable. Best saved for when you're in the mood for a madcap caper.

Reading this book felt like watching a documentary, and I liked it. I was engaged the whole time, the book has a number of unexpected plot twists, and the most important plot, was the perfect ending. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, their biggest punishment is who they are.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Oh this was disappointing!

Flick is a journalist working for a local newspaper. She is sick of covering the same boring stories of escaped sheep. So she decides to write a story that she wants to cover...romance fraud. This is where Flick meets Maggie. Maggie is 49 and had run a successful art gallery, until the fateful day when Theo walked into the gallery and into her life. Now, just a few short months later she is living in a caravan in a farmers field, facing eviction and with no money, no gallery and no Theo - who has also disappeared with her father's watch. Maggie has just about given up on life and is struggling to get from day to day so she is not best pleased when Flick blunders in and wants her to tell her story.

As Maggie is reluctant to get involved, and Flick's editor won't foot the bill for her to go and confront Theo, Flick uses her own savings to embark on a trip to bring Theo to justice. At the eleventh hour Maggie decides to join Flick and the pair set off for Monaco where Theo is currently docked while on a cruise. What follows is a chase around the Mediterranean as Flick and Maggie hunt down their prey. However, does Flick really just want to find Theo for her story or does she have an ulterior motive...

Having read 'Confessions of a Forty Something F**k Up' and really enjoyed it, I was very much looking forward to this, but it was just not for me. Billed as a romantic comedy I found the romance scarce and the comedy equally as invisible. Yes, I guess it's a story about finding yourself and not being afraid to start over, but I found the events stretched believability to snapping point. I can totally get on board with hunting someone down using Social Media but, given that the police were also looking for Theo, I am baffled as to why Flick managed to find him in a matter of minutes - including all of his aliases. They also manage to perform a feat of magic and manage to make 9000 euro's stretch to cover a two week chase across Europe during July, staying in high end hotels where champagne is served on arrival and often being put in the honeymoon suite because there is no more room - not to mention the hire car, flights and clothes that they have to buy to get through the trip.

The final showdown on board the cruise itself was farcical - it was like reading a 'Carry On...'. The ending of the book also felt like an episode of 'Only Fools And Horses.' Now, please don't misunderstand me, it was not all bad. Birdy is a delightful character and provides an interesting foil to Maggie and Flick. I did feel sympathy for Maggie and I think it was highlighted how easy it is to be fooled by someone in the way that she was. Flick is similarly gaslit by her boyfriend so it's interesting to see the parallels between how she handles it and how Maggie handles it. Oh and one of the twists in the story was one I absolutely did not see coming!

While this review is only two stars all that really represents is that it wasn't for me, however, that doesn't mean it won't be for you. If you love a beach read then this will be right up your street.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

I love Alexandra's books so I was super excited about this, but it sadly fell short of her previous work for me.

I felt it was a little long. It wasn't an outright bad book and I did enjoy it for the most part, but because it's long, it feels very slow and it lags in parts, and you start to look at how many pages you've got left. There are faster bits and slower bits but overall I felt the pacing didn't work.

I didn't click with Flick (I was going to rephrase that but the rhyming made me giggle too much). She was okay, but I generally found her a little annoying and just couldn't warm to her. I preferred Maggie, even though Flick was more my age range. I just instantly felt for Maggie and was willing her on the entire book. I didn't really get their relationship either. It felt like the age gap was hammed up so much that it didn't feel believable - I mean, how dare a 20-odd old woman not know who Grace Kelly was.

It really wasn't anything like I expected. I was expecting a romance novel, a rom-com, but this isn't that. Yes there is romance but that's by-the-by, and if I'm honest, it's light on the comedy too. It's instead about female friendship, finding yourself, standing up for yourself, facing the truth, community, resilience - which are all fabulous topics, but completely jarring with my expectations.

We zip from place to place, Monte Carol to Ibiza to the Amalfi Coast. You really do get a sense of place here, Alexandra has really excelled at that. However, it again felt unbelievable. I know it's fiction but it still needs to make sense in context. Somehow they managed to travel for two weeks, staying in the best hotels, drinking the best champagne, on very little budget and no-one seems to think that's a bit odd.

Another bit I disliked is that this man they're trying to find, the police have been looking for him for ages with no luck, but then Flick can find who he is, where he is, his aliases etc. within a matter of days, which just didn't feel right.

I suppose my main issue with this book, and I have mentioned it a few times, is it's believability. Novels don't need to be real. Things can be weird and unbelievable - take fantasy books for instance - but they still need to be believable and make sense within the context of the novel's world. And quite a lot of this didn't feel real and so I was pulled out of it as a reader.

I think if you're after an easy-to-read, quite low-energy, light book to while away a few hours on the beach or by the pool then this is perfect. But if you're wanting something with a bit more meat on the bones, with more depth, better characters and a more believable and interesting plot, then this probably won't be for you. Having said that, I generally love her work so this won't put me off reading any more, it just clearly wasn't the book for me.

I was invited by Pan Macmillan through NetGalley to read Alexandra Potter’s latest book — and of course I said yes! I’ve read two of her novels before and really enjoyed them, so this one was already on my TBR list.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭:
Maggie has her life perfectly in order: a thriving gallery, a lovely home, and the sense that everything is just as it should be. When Theo enters her life, it feels like the missing piece of the puzzle has finally fallen into place. But soon, cracks begin to show. One day she discovers that Theo has disappeared — taking all her money with him. Devastated and furious with herself, Maggie tries to pick up the pieces.

Months later, she’s living in an old caravan when a journalist suddenly shows up on her doorstep. Flick wants to write an article about Theo’s deception and claims to know where he is. She asks Maggie to come along on a trip to confront him. Maggie hesitates, but then realizes: what does she really have to lose?

Together Maggie and Flick set off across Europe in search of the man who turned her world upside down. Their journey is filled with hilarious and at times moving adventures, and along the way their bond grows stronger. Maggie realizes she’s been standing still in her grief for too long and that it’s time to move forward. And Flick? She turns out to have more secrets than Maggie ever suspected. They also keep running into the eccentric yet wise Birdie, who never fails to offer surprising words of wisdom.

The result is an adventurous, funny, and heartwarming story that’s hard to put down. At the same time it carries an important reminder: if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

This book will be available from February 1st. Many thanks to Pan Macmillan for the review copy!

I've seen programmes on daytime TV telling of the older woman who's lost out financially to scammers who launch into a romance with often vulnerable women, (it can happen to men too) make them think they've found the new love of their life only to be defrauded out of a lot of money if not their life savings and never see their money or the scammer ever again.

This is what this story is based on, though when Maggie meets up with Flick, a young and ambitious local rag journalist looking for her big break, Maggie is persuaded not to give up and give in but to go and find the man who's stolen her life and get some answers. This ends up being quite the tour of Europe chasing the fraudster from one port to another as he sails around on his Mediterranean cruise.

There are a lot of descriptions of the places they visit, Monte Carlo, Italy, Spain, and I admit I never enjoy this in a book. I would never read a travel book, so pointing out all the famous places to me in fiction never really interests me. It is quite an entertaining book but I don’t know. It’s a serious matter and in real life you would expect someone who had lost everything, their home, their savings, their dignity and their confidence to be very down at heart and despondent and they would have all my sympathy, but this is fiction and it’s meant to be lighthearted fiction at that, so I got a bit fed up at times of Maggie’s character keep reminding us of how bad she feels, it started to get a bit repetitive. In real life, absolutely, you complain as much as you like Maggie but unfortunately she didn’t elicit much empathy from me in the book and irritated me a little from time to time. I much preferred Flick’s characterisation.

It was OK, some parts did keep me interested and I read to the end because I wanted to know if they would ever catch up with the conman. There were a few twists towards the end and I felt things had finally livened up, but I think the main thing for me was that it was too long and drawn out, though I enjoyed the conclusion and the epilogue.

I really loved this book. The story in itself is sad and I guess so true in our world but the way it was written was great. Maggie is sad after losing her dad who was her rock and is fast approaching 50. Out of the blue she meets Theo and feels this is the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. After a short time of fun and laughter Theo asks her to marry him. Her friends ae not sure about Theo but she will not listen. He forgets his wallet etc and Maggie is comfortable financially. Theo asks her to invest in a new company he is setting up and proposes them buying a house together. Suddenly he disappears and leaves Maggie with nothing and living in a caravan in a field. The police were informed but nothing was done. Then she meets a local young reporter called Flick. Flick overheard her story and decides this is the story for her to become a reporter possibly in London. Flick finds Theo, through social media, to the South of France and that is where their journey begins – chasing him around the Mediterranean. Theo is on a cruise so they go from one port to another but miss him repeatedly. I enjoyed the way the places they visited were written. On their travels they meet an American lady called Birdie. What a great character she is. The story gets better as I turned the pages. It is in some ways a crazy story, two women travelling with no idea where they will land up but enjoying the journey. The characters are fantastic

I'm pretty sure I'll be in the minority here, but personally, I found this book disappointing 😞 especially after reading and loving 'Confessions of a Forty Something Fxxk Up'. I'd read a lot of hype about this novel, so I was really eager to read, but it just didn’t do it for me at all.

Flick, journalist is sick of having to cover the boring, local 'escaped sheep' storylines so when she picks up on a story of romance fraud, she decides to cover it herself whether her boss agrees with or allows it! Even if it means funding it herself with her savings.

Maggie, once a successful art gallery owner, now lives at the bottom of a field in a dilapidated caravan after being fleeced of everything by the charming Theo.

Here starts the duo's trip of careering around the Mediterranean in search of the elusive Theo, who they somehow manage to track down near on straight away, as well as all the aliases he is using.

Also, how the hell they managed to stay in high end hotels, eat at fine restaurants, and travel for two weeks in the height of summer with €9000 is beyond me.

Whilst it was definitely a book about the characters 'finding' themselves and gaining confidence and control, I personally didn't find the comedic value, which I was really hoping for after the previous novel.

If you're happy to completely suspend reality for an easy holiday/beach read, this is for you. Unfortunately, it just wasn't one for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC.

A new Alexandra Potter book! With a brilliant title and catchy cover! So excited...!
Yes, I was excited. Until I started reading it. Already from the beginning I had problems with getting into the book, into the characters' heads, to get on with the writing style. I hoped, OK, the more I read, the better it will be. It wasn't. I can't remember when I've read such a weak book - really. It pains me, it makes me sad because, you know, Alexandra Potter! But this book was one huge mistake for me. Nothing worked there. The plot was absolutely under - developed, there was nothing happening, the characters were wooden and everything seemed so forced. Billed as a romantic comedy, but I found neither romance nor comedy - this is why I don't trust the quotes on the cover anymore. The plot was faaaaar too stretched and unbelievable and as much as I enjoy a little craziness, it was another level of farcical.
I get what the author wanted to tell us with this book and the subject is a very important one, but really, eventually I couldn't care less about what's going to happen to Maggie and Flick and what's his name. I had a feeling we are turning in circles and that the author's heart was not there among the pages.
Nevertheless, if you think you need a book about finding yourself after a big crash, about gaining confidence and feeling sure in your own skin again, set in a south of sunny Europe, try this one.

I loved this book! There was something compelling about the stories of two women chasing a fraudster round the Mediterranean for their own personal reasons. It was life changing for both of them and so lovely to see the relationship form between the two of them despite each of them being from a different generation & background, both were open to new experiences and new points of view.

I went from thinking it would be a light-hearted (which it was) easy read (which it was) that I would be able to pick up and put down easily. Turned out I was looking for excuses to sit down and read or go to bed early to read. I couldn’t wait to find out where they were going next and whether or not they would find the fraudster.

The descriptions of the places they visited were very interesting too. I live an hour from Valencia and I learned new information about Valencia from this book. Obviously well researched.

The style of writing was so lovely and flowing and the two main characters, Flick and Maggie were totally believable with good depth.
I initially thought it would be a great holiday read and it would but it’s more than that and you will be hooked on this storyline. Sure, some of it is very convenient and possibly far fetched but it’s fiction…….it’s allowed!
I’d definitely read more from this author!

My thanks, as always, to the author, publishers and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Maggie is a victim of romance fraud. She met Theo in a gallery she owned when he went in posing as a buyer. Maggie had recently lost her dad and was approaching her 50th birthday and in a vulnerable state of mind. She fell for Theo’s lies and when he asked her to marry him she said yes. He scammed her of her life savings, flat, and gallery asking her to invest in a new company of his which would assure their future together. Left with no money after Theo left her before their dream marriage she ended up living in a caravan in a farmer’s field up North.
Although Maggie reported the crime to the Police there was nothing they could do to find him. A local newspaper reporter, Flick, heard the story and managed to trace Theo to the South of France. She visited Maggie in her caravan to discuss what happened to her with a view to following the story and confronting Theo. At first Maggie wasn’t interested but as Flick was arranging to fly out to France she relented. With hardly any money between them they begin a trip for just one night which then turns into a lot longer one chasing Theo around the Mediterranean.

Maggie has been the victim of romance fraud and has gone from successful business owner with her own home to a mouldy caravan in a field with only her cat George. He has unfortunately gone missing and she is approached by a local newspaper reporter supposedly to help find him but Flick wants to investigate the fraud.

Maggie is not convinced but as her human friend George points out she has nothing more to lose so when Flick offers her an expense paid overnight trip to Nice she accepts. What follows is a madcap trip around Europe in pursuit of the con man and the cruise ship he is on. Along the way they meet up with Birdy Carmichael who is my favourite character. Some of the events were a little far fetched but written in a way that made them believable. The snippet at the beginning being one of them, this being a preview of a later event that I was waiting for during the rest of the book.

I could not help noticing that Theo C Stratin is an anagram of The Con Artist. How apt and no doubt intentional by the writer.
I am a big fan of the books written by Alexandra Potter and so I was delighted to get an advance copy. This is my honest review in return.

Okay, this is going to sound weird – I was never scammed by a love rat – but this book could've been about me with themes like suffering a blow so devastating you thought your life was over, not trusting your own judgement because it looked like everything was a lie, saying sorry as a default setting, feeling guilty whether there is a proper reason for that or not, or simply feeling lost.
Being a 48 year old woman ill with ME for twenty years with perimenopause as a cherry on top of that, there was so much to relate to when it comes to Maggie. But also with Flick who is convinced that most people don't think like her.

So, I Met This Guy . . . is another uplifting, delightful book by Alexandra Potter about so-called ordinary people and which is what we might need from time to time – I know I do – with the current state of the world.
But let me be brutally honest and admit that if it wasn't for the phrase 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' it would've have been five stars.

And for those of you struggling with all of the things mentioned above: hang in there :)

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Another winner by Alexandra Potter! A sweet but heavy story about 49 year old Maggie and 20 something Flick chasing around Europe to try and find Theo, a "romance fraudster" who not only stole and crushed Maggie's heart but also her entire life savings and dignity. Flick is a local journalist who hears about Maggie's story in a pub one night. Wanting to write stories that matter she pitched the idea to her boss, as well as Maggie. Both said no but at the last minute Maggie said yes. The two go on quite the adventure chasing Theo as they follow the cruise ship they've discovered he's on thanks to social media. This story was filled with so much heart as both women lean on each other on ideas of starting over, following your dreams, and believing in yourself. I loved watching their friendship grow and the quirky side characters Birdy, George and George the cat. Alexandra Potter is one of my favorite authors and it's always lovely to be reading her words. Her stories make me feel seen, smile, giggle and cry. What more do you need?! ;) Thank you NetGalley and Zibby Books for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. Pub day is Feb 10th!

I recently read So I Met This Guy by Alexandra Potter and it had me hooked from start to finish. The story follows Maggie and Flick. Maggie is a woman in her forties who finds herself swindled out of her savings and home after being love bombed by the charming Theo. Flick is a journalist who’s tired of writing fluff pieces about lost pets and is eager to find her big break. When she hears a rumour about Maggie she decides to investigate and together they embark on an adventure across Europe to track down Theo.

This book kept me on my toes. It jumps between the present and the past to slowly reveal the full story.
What I loved most about this book was the relationship between Maggie and Flick. It’s a beautiful mix of friendship and self discovery.
Even though Maggie has been through some tough stuff there is also a sense of hope and empowerment throughout.
I also couldn’t get enough of Birdie who is the larger than life American they meet on their travels and George who is Maggie’s hilarious best friend.
This book was such a fun read. I highly recommend it. Definitely add it to your list when it comes out!

Review of ‘So, I Met This Guy’ by Alexandra Potter, due to be published on 29 January 2026 by Pan Macmillan.

Flick, community reporter for the local paper is waiting for her big break, and thinks she’s found it when she hears of Maggie’s situation - losing her life savings, home and job due to a romance scammer by the name of Theo. Maggie however is reluctant at first to share her story, before deciding she has nothing further to lose by helping Flick track Theo down.

The story follows Flick and Maggie on their European quest to get answers and justice, where a real friendship between the two grows, alongside the tiredness and bickering that is!

There are a handful of supporting characters, although by far the best is Birdy, who is well written as the loud southern American dripping in jewels and designer clothes.

There are a couple of unexpected twists to the tale, which add another level to the storyline.

Comedy, crime, love, Negronis, friendship and revenge make for a great lighthearted fun recommended read.

Romance fraud. It can leave people penniless and devastated. (I did jury service years ago on a romance fraud case so I’ve seen the devastation it created in real life)

Maggie thought she had found Mr Right but he turned out to be Mr Very Very Wrong.
Flick is a journalist on a local paper writing stories on jumble sales, missing cats and flocks of head butting sheep who is looking to write a proper investigative journalism piece when she overhears people talking about Maggie losing everything and now living in a leaky caravan in a farmer’s field.
She’s discovered after some in depth internet stalking that Theo the love rat is cruising around Europe so encourages Maggie to go with her to confront him.

I adored this book. Especially the growing friendship between Maggie and Flick. Although I think Birdy was my favourite character I’ve discovered for a long time!
I do love Alexandra Potter’s writing style.

With thanks to NetGalley and MacMillan for the arc in exchange for an honest review

I hadn’t read any books by Alexandra Potter before, so didn’t quite know what to expect. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed reading So, I Met This Guy…. by Alexandra Potter. It was a pacy page-turner centring on Flick, a young aspirational journalist and Maggie a woman in her late 40s who recently lost everything to a Theo a romance fraudster.

Both Flick and Maggie are hugely likeable characters. They trek across Europe to track down Theo to get Maggie’s money back. It’s a buddy read - both Flick and Maggie become friends on the road and learn about each other and themselves.

There were some twists and turns along the way, as well as some laughs. It’s a really uplifting book and a joy to read. I’ve discovered an author new to me and will certainly seek out other books by her.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Pan Macmillan, for making this e-ARC available in exchange for a fair and honest review.

So, I read this book... and it was brilliant!!

But then what did I expect from an Alexandra Potter book?

So incredibly thankful to have received an ARC of So, I Met This Guy and it did not disappoint!!

Intrigue, friendship, laughs, a lot of heart and some unexpected twists, this is one book not to be missed in 2026.

Meet Flick and Maggie, two very different people with an unusual connection...but how different are they really?

This story follows their journey after the discovery of having your life turned around by the one person you love with all your heart, the person you think is your future, but then they take it all from you. What would you do? Road trip of course! An unlikely duo in search of getting back a stolen life...what follows is a laugh out loud roadtrip and a beautiful developing friendship, destined to last.

Absolutely loved this book, a real entertaining read with something special weaved through it, never underestimate the power of solidarity, determination and friendship!

Told in the moment and with each of their own stories being slowly revealed, I really enjoyed the travels through Europe and the laughs you get to enjoy with two fabulous female leads and everybody they meet along the way. Written in a way that makes you feel you're right there listening to the conversations and living the experience with them, this is pure, feel good fun and it's a wonderful moment when you realise there is so much more to their quest.

If you're looking for laughs with some twists that'll make you gasp, this one's for you.

📚 Book Review 📚

Maggie is reeling from the breakdown of her relationship with the man she thought was her soulmate, when young Flick appears at her caravan door. Flick is a journalist and keen to write a story about how Maggie was taken for a ride and defrauded of her business, home and life savings to a romance fraudster.

The events that unfold are fun and realistic, with lovable characters and a lifelong friendship. This is a really enjoyable read, I loved the friendship and shared humour between Maggie and Flick and as for Birdy … I bloody loved her!!

Great, feel-good read and I’m really hoping this won’t be the last we see of Birdy ..🙏🏻 😆

I’d like to thank PanMcMillan, NetGalley and the author for the arc and the fantastic opportunity, in exchange for my honest feedback 😊

I was intrigued by the title of this book and the premise of a romance fraudster.

Maggie is a 49 year old woman with a successful business. Little does she know how her life will change as an attractive man walks into her art gallery and sweeps her off her feet. He apparently falls in love with her, proposes to her; but prior to the wedding swindles her of her life savings and disappears. The book opens with Maggie in the doldrums living in a mouldy caravan on a farmer's land. Enter Flick, a 26 year old journalist who wants big things for herself and not simple stories that she is currently writing at the local newspaper where she works. Maggie isn't keen to revisit the whole situation but Flick manages to convince her to try and find this abominable man.

What ensues is a fantastic light hearted read.

So pleased to have an arc copy of this book…

Poor Maggie, brought down by a man! We’ve all been there, but she truly suffered and we find her so low and lost.

Maggie has had her life savings stolen and is on the brink of homelessness. Flick, a journalist has discovered ambition in herself and is keen to make her big break.

This is a story of heartbreak, of discovering who you truly are and who you discover along the way. It’s told in such a scenically descriptive, fast paced, swashbuckling, funny and relatable way, you can truly see yourself along for this rollercoaster ride.

I thought I was clever predicting parts but I think they were put there so I wouldn’t see the truly epic plot twists from a mile away.

I should have been painting my kitchen, I know we all say it, but I couldn’t put this book down. You will not regret reading this book, only that it finished.
