After the bookstore, the stationery shop, the café, the bakery, and so on, here comes a Japanese feel-good story set in a confectionery shop.
Well, without expecting an extraordinary literary masterpiece, I enjoyed this gentle, comforting read.
These five stories (plus a surprisingly long epilogue) take us down a dark and fantastical alley to a confectionery run by a man/kitsune who is both charming and gruff, where you can savor delicious magical treats.
The moral of the stories? It's all about communication! Easier said than done...
