A collection of comics about pet cats who have mythical Japanese attributes and their owners dealing with those unique traits.
Another cozy time reading about the antics of these mythical cats. I am surprised that after 10 volumes Pandania manages to come up with some new mythical cats for this volume. I don’t remember meeting the Obariyon (backpacker who clings on backs) before, or the Tsuchinoko (cat with no legs), or the Kamikuri (hair cutter who likes to chew on hair). It was fun to meet these new mythical cats and see some old regulars. I always save Pandania’s books for late night unwinding reads as they are always nice and cozy and feel good. (Though as I get older the tiny font can be an issue in dim lighting at night.)

The back cover blurb mentions that there are two new yokai cats in this volume, the kamikiri and the tsuchinoko, but both only get two pages (which is actually how it usually goes when new yokai cats are introduced). I do like the design of the kamikiri (an all black cat with bright eyes and teeth), but it feels like even more of a one-trick pony than some of the other yokai cats.

I love these cats. I love that my favourites (the adzuki bean washer (OMG! when he blushed my heart melted!) and nekomata (I love how sophisticated he is. Helping out at the butcher and the dango store!)) got lots of pages in this volume. Laughed way too hard when the boss asked his mermaid cat if he glows! The new extra kitties are great too.
