The stomach pain, the hurt in your chest—all hit different when your own husband plays in your face, and I say that with my whole chest, pudgy stomach, and stretch marks.
Terrell Paris is no stranger to chaos. He’s the man everyone knows in the streets, but it’s his baby mama, Dussa Sharpe, who keeps the real drama alive. While Dussa thrives in the fast life, Terrell secretly longs for something real—a love that lasts longer than the hustle. But Dussa isn’t built for that kind of love, and their world teeters on the edge when an unthinkable tragedy shakes his life to its core.
Yoncé Moses has spent years hiding behind her scrubs, trying to escape the heartbreak that shattered her world. At Vidant Hospital, she’s known for her calm under pressure, but when she crosses paths with Terrell during a crisis, her steady resolve begins to crack. What starts as a moment of comfort sparks something neither of them saw coming.
As their lives collide, Terrell and Yoncé are forced to question everything—loyalty, love, and the cost of following their hearts. When baby mamas, street ties, and broken vows enter the mix, will they find solace in each other, or will the fallout destroy them both?

This Was a Great Read & I Am Looking Forward To The Next Part. Dusse irked my nerves. The saying that everybody doesn't need to be a mother is so accurate. I understand he had childhood trauma, but to just give up on your kids was wrong asf. Them innocent babies didn't deserve that. Terrell really didn't deserve her. He deserved someone better. Terrell & Yonce created a bond through grief bonding. Bailee and Dusse brother was pissing me off.
Whewwwww, these characters was a mess. When I tell Yonce and Rock relationship was interesting. I mean it. Don't get me on vengeful Glo. Terrell is wrong in some many ways. What happened to they daughter was so darn messed up.Dussa just seems to be stuck in between alot of ROCKs and hard places . Pun intended, lol. Now Mrs. ARMSTEAD you keep me reading this be continued but I love you so imma keep ROCKing on with you . Lol
Dussa is a hood chick through & through, that’s all about that gang lifestyle. Everything Terrell fell in love with. Still dealing with her childhood trauma, Dussa shows little to no emotion, and refuses to allow Terrell to love & provide for her as her man. After meeting due to unfortunate circumstances, Terrell & Yonce begin to bond over their grief, and their partners lack thereof. Terrell is drawn to Yonce’s soft, feminine, caring, & maternal ways, while Terrell gives Yonce the attention she wishes her husband would. Each couple is mentally, emotionally, & physically moving in two different directions. This book was a great read & I cannot wait for book 2. Another bomb 10 outta 10 from this author that I highly recommend l!
This part one here was great. We have Dussa who is with Terrell but is scared of commitment bc of her familial upbringing and she’s rght to be. Her and her brother had a rough childhood with their parents. Terrell doesn’t show emotion bc of his upbringing and his street mentality so he never did. Rock was hurting but expressed it on a totally different way than Yoncè did but they were grieving the exact same loss. Yoncè ain’t wrong for wanting what she wants but she not gonna get Rock to be on the same page at all. Being in her field of work ain’t making her want any better tho but I want her to get what she wants more than anything. Mishelle knows she’s wrong for coming at Rock the way she is plus she’s married as well. Neither her nor her sister Precious should ever call themselves friends bc they don’t know the meaning of the word and it’s sad. Yoncè wants one thing and won’t stop until she gets even if it’s not from her womb it’s self but I don’t blame her. Her daddy was wrong for the secrets he kept but he got his karma quick as hell thanks to Terrell and I’m loving every bit of it. Terrell is very calculated and I love that about him his moves are strategic at best and he definitely knows how to play the game. Dahmer is how he is bc of his and Dussa’s upbringing I mean look at their father for crying out loud. Yoncè showed Terrell compassion and care when the mother of his children couldn’t no wonder they got so close and I don’t blame them at all. That cliffhanger took me all the way out bc wth was that? You definitely showed out with this here part one and I can’t wait for the next installment. If yall ain’t read it get caught up on all the juicy drama that unfolds.
Chile if this ain’t a bunch of hunching after each other like HIV/AIDS and STDs aren’t real SHEESH‼️ This book was veryyyyyy interesting because huh 🤔 like why that daddy ain’t been up outta there. Having a son with asthma I understand how the hospital visits etc can be but NEVERRRRR would I be relieved if something happens to my child… Dussa deserves Paris leaving her fr she wasn’t there for that man at all. The same way she was doing all that beating ppl ass to see her baby in the hospital should’ve been the same way she made a move to see that baby do that honor walk again ion feel sorry for her. Now as far as Yonce she dead ass wrong. She should’ve left well enough alone but she want a baby soooooo bad that she will mess with this vulnerable man just to get it DISGUSTING… when all she had to do was therapy like her husband requested. I could go on but imma hush

Krystal I can’t with you. Omg honestly I can understand both Rell and Yonce points having to deal with the loss of a child is hard but to do it by yourself and you have a whole spouse I know it can’t be easy so to have 2 kindred souls come together over their similar traumas I totally understand. Dussa is angry at the world and she probably needs to seek some therapy to figure out what is going on mentally. I don’t understand Rock’s issue because at the end of the day he left his wife to deal with the miscarriage by herself so to think that she would just get over it just like that is messed up on his part. I think they all need to move on since the relationship is clearly over but Dussa is a crazy person so you know part about to be crazy.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been on a K Armstead ride… and what a rollercoaster it is! I do not like Terrell or Yonce. They are just alike calling their s/o selfish not understanding that Dussa and Rock needed them just as much as they needed them. I don’t like Yara bc what is your angle ma’am? I had a feeling about Precious, she reminds me of a bff from another of this author’s series’. I will say that I would have liked to read more about Dussa and Rock without so much focus on Yonce. But I’m assuming I’ll get that with part 2! Good work :)
I can’t STAND Dussa! I understand trauma I do, but she is one coldhearted, soul-less $$@ beech. I sweat…I been angry reading all night.
Rock is selfish. Yes, Yonce had a moment of selfishness, but that negro was selfish from day 1. Ms. Glo is a narcissist using everyone around her like chess pieces. Bailee being loyal to Dussa over brother is mad weird. Especially how he showed up for her. Ugh! I hope her and Dussa rot in prison. Maximum security!
This book title speaks for itself I really wish Dussa would of gotten help after her mothers accidental death now that she is a mother she doesn’t show any emotion or compassion it’s sad that loosing her daughter by accident she would of tried to be better for her son but she is heading in the wrong direction again I pray she finds peace along with Dahmer Rock Trell and Yonce can’t wait for part 2 Krystal going to bring the 🔥🔥
Man krystal knows how to suck me in and play with my emotions every time her pen drops. I don’t even know how she does it but she writes effortlessly and pulls my heart strings. Her books be so good that you can’t put them down. This is definitely a must read but with caution because you will be sitting on the edge of your seat.
The book was good I wish Dussa would've listened to everybody in the beginning and put her father in a home that man was all messed up and was ruining her life from the beginning yonce definitely needed some mental healing after everything that happened to her can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next one cause the drama is crazy
What a read. It's so good. So, much is going on. You will really enjoy this read the characters are exciting and engaging. I've never read anything like this. It's a story that will definitely have you on your toes. I highly recommend this read. Looking forward to the next part of this series. It truly will not dissapoint you.
They have way too much going on. Why folks just can't want who they are already with. You got dirty cops. One who wants her partner although she's married to his friend. A nurse who only thinks of herself. Like her husband didn't lose a child as well. These people needs their own soap opera!!!
This is a great story but at first I thought it was going to be some shoot ‘em up bang bang but nope. Two people are actually in love for 9 years and loose each other because one doesn’t show emotions and neither has communication skills. Terrell and Dusse has a lot against them but most of all they are against each other. Book 2 I’m ready
Terrel, Yonce, Dussa, and Rock wrong. Yonce and Terrell is super wrong cause what the world. Terrell mad cause Dussa doesn’t show emotions but the girl has some unresolved hurt and Yonce needs counseling not a new partner to ride. This is insane in everybody behalf Yara included.
Baby all hell is about to to break loose but why get mad when neither partner wants their mate its tragic that that baby lost her life i hope terrell takes them for all they got and Yonce gets her J in book 2
I know I going to probably get some flack for this but. I don’t like Terrell or Yonce. I didn’t in the beginning but I don’t now. Maybe I never like Yonce. Where is part 2. I feel bad for Dusa because clearly she’s suffering from survivor guilt
The storyline is good I just feel like it’s all over the place a little like it’s not cohesive … either way I’m tuned in and waiting for book 2 however I’m confused on why it ended on chapter 9 ????
Wow! This is quite a read! Two people coming together thru a horrible tragedy and their partners are not acknowledging their pain and feelings! There is so much more to the situations and a lot is going on! This is a riveting read and am so ready for the next installment!
Chile, the audacity!!! I never understood why folks feel disrespected when they are consistently disrespecting folks. Yonce is not without fault but she seems to be in the dark about a lot of snakes.
The book was good, waiting on a part 2. It's ashame how terell did dussa. Everyone griefs differently and hers is through anger. I hope she will be great a better version of herself in the next book. Move on and find and do better than terell.
That nurse will be in trouble for messing with Terrance because his crazy baby mama is on the lose and I really thought that Terrance would propose to his baby mama but we will see what happens be the baby mama not playing no games
Baby the drama in this book has me ready to knock somebody’s head off. This book is filled with drama and questions I don’t know who is who. Read the book it’s worth these five stars.
I really liked this storyline, I also can’t stand Dussa she’s emotionally stunted and only wants a gutter rat life, I feel like Terrel is a crazy but he has his priorities in order lol sounds wild but whatever, can’t wait to see what happens in part 2
I don't want to say about Dussa. She has some trauma for sure. But Terrell and Younce ßeem like they belong together. I don't know. And Officer Moses, may need figure out who's truly his friends.
Losing a baby is the most heartbreaking experience. There's not one way to greive. Everyone process death differently. This is what this book has portrayed. But looks like a lot of trauma bonding going on.
