Shifting Crossroads #17

Misenchanted Shifter

Rate this book
Eileen has always known she couldn’t control her shifts. She also knows that it is not normal to shift into hundreds of different animals.

When she is declared close to her heat, she is ordered to the Crossroads and her payment for the transport causes a stir. Her claw is that of a chimera and the enchantment that she thought was binding her, in fact, wasn’t doing anything at all.

Harris has been at the Crossroads for a few days, and when he sees a woman dressed to the nines in a classic manner, he is enthralled. When she is spunky and direct, he is charmed, and when she touches his hand, he is smitten.

Zenina Masters was born in Canada and lives in Canada. She has a regular job and does nothing particularly exciting with her life. She enjoys fishing, silence and the ability to pick and choose friends she can trust. Life is too short to watch your back all the time.

Her writing life is a teeny bit of escapism, she would probably chicken out if confronted by three naked men and looks forward to one day finding out.

A shifter who can change to many different animals is a freak of nature. It's because of a fey magical intervention in her childhood which cost Eileen her biological parents. When Eileen comes of age and wishes to find a mate, the magician's guild is elated because they are able to reveal to Eileen her true shape.

This is another lovely addition in this series. I can't get enough of Ms. Masters' Crossroad series. Each of these character are variation of the same alluring melody which touches a reader's soul. The stories are sweet romance and the conflicts are always believable despite the paranormal slant. The way Ms. Masters creates all these different matchup between different animals is fabulous. Is showcases her creativity. She can go from a simple animal to something mythical.

Eileen and Harris's courtship is just as sweet as the other courtships at Crossroad. Working at Crossroads is better than at Disney, because the workers get to see happily ever afters every day for new couples. This paranormal book is recommended to romance lovers who love their happy endings.

Eileen struggles with out of control shifts into hundreds of animals; she is both predator and prey on any given shift. The discovery of what she really is, and her oncoming heat, force her to the crossroads.

Harris is intrigued by the beautiful but strong woman with the appetite of a man. He is drawn to her immediately and knows she is the one, but he is willing to wait for her to catch up.

Eileen must reveal all of her secrets to truly believe Harris is willing to be hers. Harris has handled all the shocking details of Eileen and believes the only thing left is marriage. Will Eileen take a chance on happily ever after, or let Harris go?

Misenchanted Shifters is a straightforward entertaining read. The story is sweet and straight forward. There is little conflict or intrigue in the Faery Tale. Harris and Eileen are a small interlude in life but rather shallow in story content. It may improve if read in context with the other books in the story.

Misenchanted Shifters is an interesting concept on a shifter world. Zenina Masters creates a world that integrates the Fae and shifters giving us enough detail to make it believable.

Eileen is an unusual shifter who has a problem. She can’t control her shifts any more. When she finds out she is near her heat, she is sent to find her mate. Eileen is a well rounded character, but has little interest in finding a mate.

Harris is a warm guy with hidden depths and secrets. A gentleman to his toes in his treatment of Eileen.

Eileen seemed a little detached during the procedure of finding her mate and impatient to get it over. Luckily Harris has plenty of patience and will power.

Over all it is an entertaining read, creating a world for a future tale, while ensuring we get out happily ever after from Eileen and Harris.

I really enjoyed the sweetness of this story. Eileen and Harris have a lovely courtship that takes it's time getting to the bedroom. I loved her straightforward attitude. She is unique in so many ways.

Don't get me wrong there is a yummy bit of steam throughout the book. While they save the bedroom for a wedding ring, they certainly round the bases while courting.

The story gives us more hints of unrest with the fey. It is interesting to see how theses two groups interact. One would think after being around so long they would have had this stuff settled, but it is only just coming to a head. I can not wait to see what happens next.

I am a little disappointed the author notes at the end have become so skimpy. I miss the teases that give a hint on the next book.

When Eileen starts losing control of her shifting she is told the only cure is to mate. So she heads off to the Crossroads of course. No ordinary shifter will do for one as rare as Eileen and she finds everything she wants in Harris.

The heroine is well drawn with a loving adopted mother. The hero is interesting as well with his family background.

This is a quick satisfying read.

My ebook only has 59 pages. I wish it had the 86 pages indicated in the description. As usual a bit more length could only improve these stories. Honestly this one felt even more rushed than usual.
