Shunsuke is a 20 year-old whose hobby is sex. Since his third year of middle school, he's slept with 49 women and now he's on the lookout for number 50. Even though he proclaims he doesn't believe in love, he secretly wonders whether his next partner will be "the one". And it turns out they will, except his next partner isn't Shunsuke's usual target - instead of an attractive older woman, he falls for an average looking older man - his friend Shou's older brother, Kei. But of course it takes a while for Shunsuke to accept that, and add to that he has absolutely no idea what to do when one has fallen in love.
While I really enjoyed the banter between Kei and Shunsuke, I had two major problems with this novel. One, I didn't really care for either Kei oder Shunsuke (my favourite, if at all, was Shou..) and Two, I have a huge embarrassment squick, and Shunsuke's behaviour is so embarrassingly stupid at times it was hard for me to read. (Really: if you know Pride and Prejudice, remember the ball at Netherfield? Having to read or watch that is absolute torture for me, and there were a lot of scenes like that during this book.) I think if you don't have that kind of squick, it's actually really funny (in a OH MY GOD HOW CAN ANYONE BE THAT STUPID kind of way). Also, Shunsuke is a misogynist dick. And the author's thoughts on women and relationship are kind of saddening, but that's the rule in BL, not the exception, so.
But apart from the embarrassment, it was a fun read, and the last two sex scenes were hot, so I feel okay giving this three stars. Again, not a must read, but fun.
