The Call Me Cat Trilogy Book 1 - Call Me Cat Book 2 - Leave Me Love Book 3 - Tell Me True
Alex Lux is a USA TODAY bestselling multi-genre romance author who fancies herself British and living in a swanky flat in London where she and the Queen frequently have tea and crumpets. In reality, she’s a native-born Californian who has a great fake accent and often compels her kids to get their fake British on as well. She does love tea, but drinks it with her Sexy Russian Prince (who’s not really a prince, but he is Russian, and he is sexy). Together they write books with lots of sex and intrigue while raising three little girls who are entirely too smart for their parents’ own good.
When not penning toe-curling sexiness, she writes fantasy and science fiction with her husband as Karpov Kinrade.
Crash and burn! This series started off ok and ended badly. I really can't believe I finished it! The characters are unbelievable and under-developed. I don't know how they all continue to function through their daily lives! They all seem to suffer through massive tragedy the same way the rest of the world suffers a common cold. In the end there are so many twists it reads more like slap-stick comedy and that some are thrown in just so they could end the book. Wish I didn't waste my time.
The mystery plot was intriguing and there were some surprises, but on the whole this series left me feeling lukewarm, especially since I discovered quite early on who were involved in the midnight murders. The romance story between Catelyn and Ash wasn't developed enough and the sex scenes felt like they were inserted as needed. I know this book is fiction, but throughout the series I found it very weird how all the characters function through their daily routines as though nothing bad has happened. Also there is no way Catelyn would have been able to finish her first year of law school with all the events. Again, it's supposed to be fiction - I get it. Overall, this series felt rushed and could have been marketed as one book. It was a decent read but I had much higher hopes for a this romance mystery series. Lastly, the covers really do not relate to the books - where is the bad boy biker billionaire?
The intrigue and sex just keeps getting better in book 3. Catelyn and Ash are getting closer and want to reveal all to each other or at least Ash reveals all. Catelyn still has some secrets that she hasn't told to Ash that could destroy everything she has built with Ash up to this point. And it could all come crumbling down on her if he finds out before she can tell him the whole truth.
I thought I had the murderer figured out from book 2 Ha I ened up oweing myself $1.00. But, thats what is so great about a murder mystery. You think you got it and then it ends up being someone you never thought about. Through out this whole series someone has been following Catelyn and destroying her life, how much more can she take before she to is found dead? How much more is she willing to take before she ruins her life with Ash? She has all but destroyed her friendship with Brig or so the authors say. But, you have to read CALL ME CAT book #3.
I love the series and I was hoping for book #4 even after the killer was caught. I know I know they got the killer or killers but I just wanted to see more of Catelyn and Ash and Brigette after the dust settled. See if Catelyn finishes college see what becomes of Brigette and what does happen with Ash and his family. What happens with Brigette and her family. What becomes of Catelyn and Ash with his dad feeling the way he does about Catelyn. So many unaswered questions. I know your to think things will be fine now but I'm just one of those people that like to see what happens once all the dust settles. CALL ME CAT is an awesome series so do yourself a favor and read it you wont be disappointed.
Good lord. So apparently, with the exception of Ash and her BFF, EVERY OTHER CHARACTER was involved in Cat's parents murders. Including the police, her BFF's parents, Ash's parents, her brother, her mentor, her coffee guy, her therapist.
WTF?
And, let's make this more confusing by alternating past and present in every other chapter. What's worse is that this told from Cat's POV. That she was involved in catching this crew from the beginning would have been more believable had this been told in third person or through Ash, who knew nothing this whole time?
Again, WTF?

I finished the second book just a few hours ago and thought, I’ll just read a chapter or two of the third book. Well, I read it all. Two books in one day. If that doesn’t tell you how good these books are, nothing will. So many twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! Jaw dropping revelations! You couldn’t ask for more out of a book like this.
I read all three books and i do not regret purchasing this book. I am 17 and i never read books but this completely changed my perspective on books. I felt everything as if i was watching it in real life man this is the best book series i have read in all my life. I recommend this to you 100/100 😍🥴⚡️
Continuing love story of Ash and Catelyn. Catelyn has found her mother's tell all book. A perfect wedding is about to take place then a bomb blows up a Jon is killed. Will Ash and Catelyn finally get marry or will the past kill them both? Great story.
I was torn about this book. I didn't like the way the story jumped back and forth. It made the storyline difficult to follow. The story was good without that going on.
It was a quick read some spots were interesting. A lot of predictable spots and at some points I actually skipped pages because it’s the same sex scene over and over.
I very rarely give a one star review for a book, because I understand what it's like to write on a deadline, but I couldn't let this one slide.
I gave the first book in this series a resounding 5 star review. It was well structured, it told a portion of the story which was intriguing and I genuinely liked the characters. I didn't envision Cat's strong conflict boiling down to what it became in book 3.
Book 2 was less believable, and so were Cat's internal reactions, given that she'd created the 'plan' all along. It didn't make sense to have her shocked internally, when she knew what she'd planned. She wouldn't have to hide those details from herself, and since the reader sees the internal landscape of a character, this made the story less believable.
Book 3 was a travesty when it came to that particular factor. Everyone died. Everyone. The author, instead of creating a well thought out plot and implementing it over a further few books (or lengthening this one for that matter), tried to squish as much into the finale as possible.
Cat became a vessel for the story. She had no conflict in the third book. She acted and thought things she shouldn't have, given that she knew Jon was the perpetrator all along, and what she had planned.
The timeline was terrible. Even at the end when I thought the timeline jumping was over, the author couldn't resist adding an extra timeline jump back to Cat killing Jon herself, even though he'd already been shot three times and miraculously survived.
The emotion was trite. There was no accurate scene description. The sex scenes broke the flow of the story and were gratuitous, rather than involved in the flow of the romance.
Cat did no sleuthing, but ran around from place to place, leaving clues for a private investigator, who then disappeared instead of doing what he was hired to do by Ash.
The romantic conflict between Ash and Cat was entirely absent, apart from a few punch ups which showed Ash didn't but Cat was too busy sleuthing to trust her fiance with the details of her quest, putting her husband, friend, self and marriage in jeopardy. That's not a likeable trait in a person.
EVERYONE died. I'm all for killing a darling for the plot. But this was ridiculous. The Davenports died, Maxwell died, Gray died, Jon died, Cavin died, a pregnant girl died along with her baby. Lots of dead rich people on a yacht. The author killed off all the main conflicts. I refuse to believe this book was planned from the start (though I did suspect Cavin) because there is no way the author who wrote the tight, well written prose from the first book did so with this ending in mind.
With all of that said, I think the book suffered because of two main problems:
- Not enough word count, but no choice to increase that word count - Not enough time to meet a deadline for this book
I wish I could unread this, that the author would write a proper ending, and we could have real closure.
this is the last book in the call me cat trilogy. in this book we learn who the killer is and how it all came about. i had a wtf moment reading this book and was glad when i read the end result
This book shared the same flaw as its predecessor. The story is a big mess of mismatched scenes, lack of coherent dialogue and a poorly executed mystery that makes you want to finish reading just for everything to end.
I'll start with Ashe, the book makes you feel like he's a great mystery character that is going to make a great impact, or somehow everything revolves around him, but by this book you'll know that he's one of the most forgotten main characters I've ever seen (I've seen worse), because he has no development since the first book and keeps the same amount of involvement throughtout this one. I know the story wasn't about him, but I was really disappointed that he turned out to be just the protagonist main love interest and nothing more, even if he was deeply involved in the plot.
Another character that completely changed was Bridgette, I truly couldn't adapt to her 360° personality change. It totally weirded me out and by this point I was quite frustrated with the story because rather than a mystery, there were several things that the main character actually knew and the reader was oblivious to it because she didn't share any of it. It was more curiosity because of the omissions of the character (every time) rather than sharing with the reader the same amount of confusion regarding the true culprit and the mystery surrounding her.
I must admit most of the things that happened were really interesting and surprising in some way, what I was most frustrated about is how almost every scene wasn't fluid, because the chapters felt somewhat cut-off from one another. The ending, was good, I guess it was a nice finish for the whole story, a little bittersweet but satisfactory.
Overall, the story has great potential, but it definitely lacks fluidity and more coherence between chapters. Anyways, it was a nice read, but not as amazing as I was hoping for this series to be.
This final book in the Call Me Cat trilogy tells the final chapter in the story of Catelyn Travis and the Midnight Murderer. When her wedding goes up in flames as a direct result of her soon-to-be brother-in-law's car blowing up, Cat must go on the defensive one more time. This time, she is determined to reveal the identity of the one responsible for her parents' deaths and her lifetime of torment. One thing is for sure, it is becoming more and more clear that the "one" responsible is actually "many" and there is more to the story than you thought you knew.
There were some grammatical errors and a small handful of spelling errors, but the story was still enjoyable as they did not distract from the reading experience.
I would recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys erotic romance and murder mysteries. This series is meant to be read and enjoyed by adults only due to many graphic sexual encounters. I would also slap a trigger warning onto this series due to animal abuse, sexual abuse, and some graphic depictions of violence.
Overall, I am completely in awe. I never saw this ending coming. I had suspected many different people, but in the end, I was wrong about half of them and surprised by a few I never suspected prior. The suspense held me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, never giving me a chance to relax as more and more secrets were revealed. I am beyond impressed with the first murder mystery penned by Karpov Kinrade, and I sincerely hope this isn't their last. This series has been one intense emotional roller coaster that I didn't ever want to end.
First off...epic! I love this series! Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov know how to write a novel.
Okay the cover... Sexy right? It has the perfect look to describe this novel.
The story... While this novel did not have as much sexy (darn) it had plenty to keep the reader hooked. The novel begins right where the last one left off. The reader discovers who the Midnight Murderer is...or do they? From the beginning this novel keeps you guessing and wondering what is will happen next. You have murder, mystery, sex, friendship, and of course the biggy...betrayal! Let me just say one thing, you can never know who is actually on your side. And wow the person who killed Cat's parents...OMG. Scream worthy reveal and that isn't even the end of it. Read this novel and be captivated by the characters.
Well that was disappointing, disgusting, and I can't believe I wasted my week on reading this series. I really hate leaving bad reviews but I just can't find anything good about these books... the characters are superficial - there's no real depth to any of them. The relationship between the two main characters I feel is just physical and there is no real love between them. I mean she's been lying to him the entire time of their relationship. I don't know, I guess I'm not a fan of this author. The only thing that kept me reading this series was that the mystery was a little difficult to figure out - but that's mainly because they weren't giving us the whole story. Again, only reason it's not a one star is because I finished this book & only ones I don't finish do I rate one star. I would not recommend, though.
This is the last installment of the series. The previous books set up this plot so well. After reading this book i was dissappointed. It was not at all what I hoped. The whole book goes back and forth bewteen the past and present. In this book particually, I didn't think it worked out...
It was confusing going back and forth, and it made things harder to remeber what happened before and to connect everything. The thing I liked about the past and present was how everything was set up. I thought it was genius!
This book was a good conclusion to the series but i think it could've been written without time jumping. If you have read the rest of the series then i think you should finish this book, but don't get your expectations too high....
Finally, all the questions have been answered!!! It was a hell of a ride getting there but the journey was full of ups and downs and got your brain working overtime. Im happy that my gut feeling about Ash was right because I really liked him and thought he was genuine and caring and truly loved Catelyn. Cat was strong especially after everything she went through in her life. Now she dan finally be happy and live her life with Ash. The only thing that bothered me was the insta-love in the book, usually it doesn't bother me so much but I felt that they automatically loved each other before even dating. Just seemed weird. Anyway, I really enjoyed this series and recommend it. I will also be looking into reading more from this husband/wife author.
*read book 1 and 2 to get the full grasp of this mystery/romance/suspense drama whatever. You get a little bit of everything in books 1-3 of this series.
The story takes of with an eventful wedding explosion that sets the tone for the book. From there we continue in the present with constant blackflashes that lead up to the main event/showdown/reveal.
If you've been reading this series and liked it expect some twists and turns some confusion and ohh yeah answers. Finally answers.
I will admit I was a bit surprised at one surprise, wrong on another suspension and totally nailed it on the Murder. Have fun with the clues, hints, secrets and drama as the story comes to its conclusion.
Once again I found myself gasping at the plot twists in this book! I loved the plot structure alternating past and present. Over the past few months I have discussed the story with many friends and family and have played out many scenarios. I can honestly say that ending was unbelievable. Catelyn is an amazing character although I alternated loving her and hating her at times. This is a must read trilogy but prepare to put your life on hold while you read. Thank you Kimberly and Dymtry for another amazing series!!!!!!
Good book/series, but the 3 books are really each novellas that should have been condensed into one novel. I feel a little cheated about paying Amazon Kindle for 2 of the books (the 1st one was free to rope you in to the series). I should have only had to pay once for all 3 books. With that said, it was still a fun read, romance, sex, violence, mystery, laughter. It had it all. Not sure if I would read again because part of the lasting fun was finding out "who done it" and now that I know, it probably won't be as page-turning as it was the first time. Would recommend!
What a mind game this trilogy was for me! I really liked these books. I am not usually one for these kinds of books, but I really enjoyed this story. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, BANG, something totally different happened! I loved Cat. I loved Ash but for billionaire, he didn't really fit the idea of a "alpha male" like in other books, so the whole time I was reading these books something just felt off about him. But in the end...well you will just have to read it and see for your self as I don't want to give any spoilers away!
This was a fabulous trilogy! So many plots and twists! What a roller coaster ride! I loved how the author went back in forth between present and past. The series pulls in from the very beginning and you definitely kept reading book 2 and 3. I know I completed it in four days. You think you got it down and then BANG! No you don't!
This series delivers, sex, love, deception, mystery, intrigue, suspense...it has it all! I loved the characters and the feelings that they brought out in me. And what an ending!!!! SURPRISED!
I enjoyed the previous books but this one totally disappointed me. The present to past just became annoying after awhile. I just flipped through the pages after at 60% of the book. I really wish the author kept the flow as the previous two a t a normal flow. if y of u don't mind going back and forth from past to present at every chapters, you would like this book.
This series started out well and kind of lost its luster for me as it went. It was so far fetched, and all the lies the main character told to "protect" the ones she loved kind of rankled. But I'm big on honesty. I have this book two stars because of the jumping back and forth from past and present was frustrating, and by the end of the book I was glad it was done.
Overall I enjoyed the trilogy, but it probably could have been condensed into one long book.
Book 3 was quite full of steamy sex and continued mysteries to be solved. From chapter to chapter I was lead through scenarios that I was not sure if they were real or fabricated. One thing was certain; the love between Cat and Ashton. I do wonder if Ashton was ever told the truth. The trilogy, in my opinion, could have contained more books.
I cannot believe how quickly I read that book. But, I just had to find out who the killer was! I loved the style of the book. The writing was not chronological but still made perfect sense. You got to see the story from every angle. The authors managed to fill it with suspense and sex, a winning combo. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am a fan of the authors.
I read this book all in 1 sitting...that's how much it kept my attention and made me not want to put it down. I loved this ending and all the twists and turns once again that I wasn't expecting. I can see this being a hit movie in the theatres someday, and I will be in line to watch it! :)
"wow" is the word after read, it pop up into my mind at once, it is great, really great. even you may think that the story line will go there, and knew that some of the characters were invloved in the death of Catlyn's parent, but....
the stories really give you suprise and i really enjoy the reading
