Broken Fences

Rate this book
It took Dusty Owens two years to land Colden "Saint" James, even if it was for only one night, but the very next day, he was gone. Now, years later, the "Saint" has returned, but he's no longer the do-gooder rookie cop Dusty remembers.
Dusty Owens always had a way of making every single one of Colden's man parts go all hard. He'd been so close to falling for the girl before he'd left Odessa. Now, due to a troublemaking photo, Colden must return to his hometown to keep her safe. Trouble is, he's a different man-not to mention the change. Well, it's gonna cause all kinds of problems where Dusty Owens and all of his man parts are concerned.

**Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

How many ways can I write that I just enjoyed the hell out of a book? I don't know yet but I will when I am done with every review I have to catch up on!

The title Broken Fences made my mind think cowboy..he wasn't a cowboy but he was all man..which made me all happy!

A story that started six years earlier, with a night of broken virtue and fences. Dusty had wanted Colden ever since she came to Odessa and waited for the right moment to make her move. The right moment was all too wrong and after their one night Colden was called out of town on an assignment he could not share with anyone. Colden has to win back the trust of a broken girl and with that her heart, that has always been his.

"The only difference was that this time, the bastard didn't even bother to mend her broken fence."

Colden knew Dusty wanted him but knew she wasn't ready for the type of commitment he would want from him. She was young and needed to live a life before settling down. One night, and a broken fence later he had taken everything Dusty had to give only to have to give it up for the near future.

Six years later Colden's hold on Dusty has brought him back to his hometown to protect her and his family. Everything Dusty thought she knew about Colden was not as it seems.

"I'm through giving, pretty girl. Now it's takin' time. But you don't worry. You're gonna like what I plan to take from you. I promise."

"You hate me," he smoothly teased with a smile, "but I'm gonna try to persuade you otherwise by pulling your panties to the side and slipping my cock deep inside you."

YES PLEASE..

Let me tell you ladies Colden gets what he wants and I loved that. The sex was hot and the story kept me reading. I enjoyed their journey and LOVED the ending and how the thing Colden held close to him all these years was what he used to let Dusty know how much she means..

This was my first book from this author and I thought it was great. Kudos to you Kelly Gendron, you have a fan in me..

This book didn't work for me.Though I must admit it worked to put me to sleep.Story is very simple the Guy St.James if I remember correctly had sex with the Girl Dusty Owen and broke a fence for the very first time and he disappears returns after 6 yrs again has sex and disappears but in a different place and way ofcourse. In between his disappearance act he teases the Dusty Owen, dominates her a bit,Kidnaps her to protect her and had sex ohh sorry makes love gives her multiple orgasm with change of position and place and Blast everything becomes alright. Some Characters were introduced for future books I guess......yep that sums it all,ooh I forgot he is a Undercover agent and though he claims to love Dusty from the very beginning he only returned.......SORRY!!! Cant tell you that, should keep some suspense.....:D
2 star for the authors effort and the cover,HAWT cover and I am a cover whore.

Colden Saint James has been gone from Odessa for the last six years. He had one magical night with one Dusty Owens, a night he would never forget. After two years of resisting Dusty's advances, Colden- better known to Dusty as St. James -finally gave in a took her virginity only to disappear the very next day. Six years later he finds himself back in Odessa to protect the one girl he left behind, the question is can he convince her to give him another chance and prove to her that she means more to him than a a body to warm his bed at night?

Dusty Owens hasn't been able to forgive or forget Colden. Since the night he took her virginity he has been her entire world. But the problem is the very next day he left without a word or a backwards glance. Now her cousin is marrying his younger brother and while never imagined to see him again it's only natural that he would return for the wedding. Six years later he waltzes back into her life and into her bar making her a bet she can't refuse. When she looses, she must grant his wish. His wish? To live for the next two weeks with her under her roof. As much as Dusty wants Colden, he's a married man with three kids, or at least that's what his brother told her.

Ironically, he's not married. He's never been able to forget his one time against that fence that broken under their weight. He's carried her picture all these years in his wallet while undercover and it's just for that reason he has returned. Fearing that his cover is blown and the man he's trying to capture will come after her he returns to protect the one woman he could never forget. She fights her attraction to him at every turn, but when she finds out the truth will she be able to give herself over to the one man she's allowed to get close to her or will it cause her to run away? She must learn to trust Colden with her life but can she really trust the man who took her virtue and then left the very next day?

At first when I read this story, I thought she would fall right back into his arms, but when that didn't happen I was intrigued to continue this story. Dusty is not the same young woman she was when Colden left and Colden is no longer the innocent man he was when she saw him last. He's grown up and become a more dominant version of his former self with a tattoo he didn't have before. I loved watching their journey and their time together as Dusty fought him at every turn and his journey to attempt to gain the trust he lost all those years ago when he left her behind. A great story and I look forward to the next book in the series, 4 stars.

Dusty had saved herself for six years. After one night with Colden and breaking a fence during her first sexual encounter, there was never going to be anyone else for her. Unfortunately he left the next day and she never heard from him again. She was told that he had married and had three children so Dusty did what she thought was best, she moved on with her life.

One day Colden walks back into her bar, she figures it is because his brother is going to marry Dusty's cousin in a few days, but Colden had other reasons. He knew he needed to protect Dusty from something she had no part of and he accepted he was the reason she was in danger, but how was he going to protect her and still keep his secrets hidden?

This book was not an intense read, but there isn't any way your heart can't melt for Colden. When you learn what he has been doing for the last six years and why he came back you know he is the man who would be hard to resist. As the story goes we get to see a part of Dusty that she hides so well, her fears and heart-break but she is a fighter and she is going to resist Colden if it is the last thing that little spit fire does. Good thing for her she has a talkative cousin and Colden is a stubborn man.

The love scenes between these two are unique, you see the little spitfire melt, then turn to ice again. The alpha male takes complete control over their sex life, yet is lost in the dark when it comes to her emotionally. You wonder at times if these two will ever stop trying to read the situation as they see it and just start hearing each other, even their nonverbal clues are screaming loudly. Those two are meant to be and this story is about them realizing it and accepting it.

I love that the author showed us what was really fueling Dusty's rebellion, she could have been seen as a spiteful woman, but the author let us see the broken little girl inside and the strong woman on the outside. We got to see the Colden put his pride aside and learn to deal with the pieces of Dusty that life had left. They are an adorable couple and I just loved this story. If you want a HEA then this is for you. It isn't intense, but it keeps you going because you just have to find out what was the final barricade that needed to be taken down for these two to find their happiness. God knows it should have been clear in the beginning, but not with these two lovable, head strong people.

I want Colden. He was such a hotty totty. I don't like what he did in the past but it is understandable. Although he did cause Dusty to shutdown her heart because of it dang it. So Colden is the town's great guy or so everyone thinks except Dusty but she is a little ticked at him. To me Colden is your knight in shining armour who just found love and is scared of it until it is too late.

Dusty is a sharp witted, funny young woman who has her heart broken and torn to pieces leaving her with some trust issues. She owns a bar and is helping her cousin with her wedding to Colden's brother. This is where Colden comes into her life again.

But colden has changed and I tell you the exchanges between Dusty and Colden are funny and in some instances Smokin'. They will set your kindle on fire at times. She with her snarky sharp wit and him with his comebacks are just wonderful to read.

Dusty does start to melt her frost off the heart for him but Colden does what she thinks is a bonehead move, albeit it does seem like one and she distrusts again. Colden is just protecting Dusty his one love the only love he has ever known and will ever know and want.

A fun, sexy fast paced read that will have you laughing at parts and rooting for love to conquer all.

**JJ'S REVIEW**

Broken Fences is about a girl who fell in love with the town do-gooder. After a night of passion where she loses her virginity to Colden, Dusty is left heartbroken when he leaves town the very next day. Six years later Colden comes back to town and he is definitely not the do-gooder Dusty remembers him to be. He's sent back to their home town to protect her and keep her safe after an assignment that kept him away goes wrong.

Even though it's been so many years since they've seen each other neither one of them have ever forgotten or stopped loving each other. Dusty tries to fight her feelings for him, she doesn't want to fall back into the girl she once was and give him the opportunity to hurt her again. Nothing about him is the same as she once knew, he's not the same guy he used to be and because of his job he can't tell her the truth about why he left her.

"The new and improved St. James was hot, and her knees were already begging to hit the floor for him."

"The man actually smelled like sex-hot, sweaty long, hard sex. Every hormone inside pushed for her to lean forward, to get closer to the thigh-clenching aroma."

Colden doesn't let her anger towards him stop him from getting what he wants. Dusty is his and no matter what he always gets what he wants. He's hot and sexy and this older version of the man that once broke her heart has her lusting after him once again.

"I'm through giving, pretty girl. Now it's takin' time. But you don't worry. You're gonna like what I plan to take from you. I promise."

"I'm gonna f*ck you so good. I'm gonna f*ck you so hard. And, one way or another, I'm gonna get rid of all that hate too."

This was a good, sweet story with some steamy sex thrown in the mix. The character were interesting, the plot had me invested, I just felt like there was something missing. After reading the synopsis I expected the threat to Dusty's safety to be more then what it was. I wish the author would have committed to that aspect of the story a bit more so we could really feel like there was a real threat. I also kept waiting for that moment in the story that catches my breath when two characters finally fall in sync with each other but that moment never came for me. There were moments that I really liked though don't get me wrong, just wanted more.

***** I received an ARC copy for an honest review *****

First let me just start by saying that this is the first book that I read from this author and cant wait to read more of her books.

Holy HOTNESS I just finish reading this book, and I love it this book pull me in from the first letter to the last, I couldn't put the book down that's how good it was, I could tell you that this book is HOT, SEXY, and the characters are well developed, love the characters and how the book turned out to be I just want more couldn't get enough of it.

Love the character of Dusty Owens, now Dusty owned a bar, she is funny, smart, beautiful, and she knows what she wants, she is not afraid to say what's on her mind, but even though she looks so tough on the outside, she is having issues with feelings on the inside, she is hurt cause everyone she get to care about at the end they end up abounded here even the man she felt in love with.

Oh Love the character of Colden Saint James, now let me just say that Colden is one sexy hunk of a man, he has tattoos he knows what he wants and he takes what he wants, he will do everything that he can to protect those that he care for, I just love his attitude and that strong sexy as hell language that he use, he just wants to make you drop your panties for him WOOW I just love everything about him.

Six years ago Dusty and Colden hook up, Colden took her virginity away, the next morning he was called on an assignment and he end up leaving Dusty with no goodbye no nothing, that left Dusty with a broken heart, but even though those six years has pass by and Dusty never forgotten about Colden she still in love with him, and Colden is back to his home town and after seen Dusty again he knows that he still in love with her and he never stop loving her, I love their sex scene are hot and heavy and they love to tease each other, love it how Colden let Dusty know that when he wants something he takes it.

I hope that when you read this book that you get to enjoy it and fall in love with it as much as I did. I want to say THANK YOU AUTHOR Kelly Gendron for introducing me to this amazing characters and this awesome book. LOVE IT

I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Holy schmexy pants.. This book features some of the sweetest yet sexiest scenes that I have read in a long time. I had never read this author before and was pleasantly surprised by this book. Broken Fences charmed me with its tale of young lovers, torn apart and then reunited years later in the face of danger. The road to true love 2.0 is bumpy and filled with pot holes and emotions but so well worth the read. This is a tale of young love grown up. forgiveness, heartbreak, danger, sex and love.

Dusty gave Colden her innocence. He took it and then walked away. Years later he comes back full of secrets and the need to protect Dusty from danger he may have placed her in.

Colden and Dusty are very likable characters and you can witness their growth throughout the book. Colden is totally 100% alpha male tattooed bundle of sexiness. He is powerful and protective. Hot as all get out. Time has changed him but he will do anything to keep Dusty safe. I cannot express how much I loved Dusty. On the outside, she may be a tough girl but deep inside, she will always be the girl in love with and chasing after Colden. She is a combination of sweet and sassy who gives as well as she take. When Colden comes back to town she doesn't just fall at his feet. No, she makes him work for it. She is justifiably angry. I really enjoyed the interaction between these two characters and the wealth of emotions that they express. These are two people who have experienced the pain, heartbreak, and joy that real true love brings. They have a history and this adds a rich and depthness to their characters.

What can I say about the plot. It was great. There is a wedding, a bet, lots of hot sex, and a pig. Does it get any better than that? This is a really fast paced and fun read. There are parts that may break your heart but it is so well worth it. I love books about re-united couples and this is easily one of my favorites. I love that I found a new author to follow and I cannot wait for the next book in this series. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

4.5 Star Review – Broken Fences (A TroubleMaker Novel #1)

I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Kelly. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, pain, and betrayal.

Dusty Owens had one night with Colden Saint James after trying to get him for two years. When she gets her chance he takes her virginity, they broke a fence and he left town the next day with no word.

He has been gone for 6 years but he’s is due back for his brother’s wedding. Now he is in town and looking better than ever. But since Dusty was told he is married with three kids she should be safe right?

Colden Saint James is back in town because his cover is blown and he is sure someone is after Dusty all because he had her picture in his wallet. He must protect her from the trouble he is sure that is coming. He bets her he can beat her at staying on a mechanical bull and since she holds the record and he fell off the last time after only a few seconds she agrees. He beats her and moves into her spare room.

Dusty finds out that Colton’s brother made up the story about Colden having a wife and kids she realizes that she is not so safe. He tries to seduce Dusty at every opportunity and is able to. She can’t resist him. He is and has always been her weakness.

When an associate of Colton’s shows up Colton ties up the man and takes Dusty prisoner. She tries to get away more than once only for Colton to grab her back. The more time they spend together the more she falls in love with him. After Colton’s boss talks to the associate they are allowed back into town. After dropping Dusty off Colton tells her he will be right back. After waiting for hours she knows he has left town again.

Is he gone for good? If he returns will Dusty let him back into her life again? What is his real job? Will he make it to the wedding? Does he even care about Dusty? How will she survive if he is gone?

Oh Colden I love you so much, "yes, if my memory serves me correctly - which I'm sure it does, as it's rather vivid - this man knows how to handle you just fine." I loved his thoughts, "who the eff is this Travis guy...and why the hell does he think he can touch what's mine?" Sometimes you have show you care about the other person and even though Dusty thinks she doesn't appreciate it deep down the girl does, "you can fight me all you want, girl, but neither me nor this..." He pressed closer, his hard co** making contact with her soft, pliable body. "We're not going anywhere anytime soon." Do you know how excited I was to find out the man has a happy trail!?!? Those things seriously turn me on, "he was wearing only a pair of heather gray sweatpants and even sitting down, they hung deliciously low on his hips. Her eyes diverted to the thin, dark trail of hair that was soon lost in his waistband." I think Colden is always horny and that is seriously hot, "cause I'm no longer exhausted. In fact, I'm all rested up and, uh..." He glanced down at his faithful morning hard-on. "As you can see, I'm ready for ya too." I really did like this book and I can't wait for the next one.

**ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

What would you do if the one person who had your heart, left the day after you gave your virginity to him - then showed up six years later all cocky and sure of himself, wanting to start things up again?

Dusty wants to ignore the feelings she has when she sees Colden show up in her bar, but the feelings she had six years ago come rushing back in full force. She needs to know why he left, why he's back and is he going to stay or leave again this time. Dusty is a tough girl, she really tries to fight him, but he's a charmer, smooth - and when he talks all bossy/alpha to her - oh man, you cannot blame her for giving in. He is just hot and oh man, he knows just what to say! I really enjoyed this story, it kept me interested and I read it in one sitting - I definitely look forward to the next book in this series.

I literally COULD NOT put Broken Fences down!! From the moment that Dusty Owens wrestles a pig and puts it in the cab of a truck, I was hooked!! Just add Colden “Saint” James to the mix and I was doing everything in my power to stay awake and read! After Colden and Dusty broke a fence in the heat of passion 6 years ago, and Colden skipped town, breaking Dusty’s heart in the process, she never thought she would see him again. That was until he shows up for his brother’s wedding, or at least that’s what Dusty thinks he’s there for. Dusty is a strong-willed, mechanical bull-riding , bar owning bad ass, but when it comes to Colden, she submits to his every command. Colden is hot, I mean SERIOUSLY H-O-T! We’re talking southern drawl, tattooed, undercover agent with a soft spot for a certain bar owner with a tattoo of a star. The love and attraction between two people as stubborn as Colden and Dusty is frustrating and beautiful!! This is a definite MUST READ!

A SCORCHING HOT and SIZZLINGLY STEAMY HEA that is heartwarming and leaves you *swooning* for more!! I gobbled this book up and can't wait for book two!

Dusty is a strong woman who has abandonment issues and a broken heart. Dusty, in her finest hour, lets you know that, "Pussy gonna want what the pussy wants." You can't help but love and laugh and clench your thighs at this hot good girl who wants to be bad for one man....Colden!

Colden is a Saint turned Bad Good-boy who broke a fence and Dusty's heart. With a troublemaking picture, Colden comes back into Dusty's life after being away for over six years. This sexy bad boy who is sooo good, makes his way back into her life and attempts to mend broken fences.

Oh goodness. What can I say about this book? Let's start with the good.

What I liked:
1) The alternating dual povs, told in the third person.
2) Some of the inner monologue was funny.

What I didn't like:
1) The h, Dusty. She's so weak and ugh, I couldn't stand her.
2) The H, Colden. He's a jerk. Either he's an idiot who doesn't know how to communicate through any way other than sex, or he's a jerk who thinks that sex fixes everything.
3) The story. I've read books where the H is a secret agent of some kind and lies repeatedly to the h because of his work/case/etc. Erasing Faith comes to mind. And while I don't really like stories where lies are more common than truths, a good story will make me want to care regardless. I couldn't have cared less for Colden or Dusty.

This is the first time I’ve ever given Kelly anything other than a 5 star. 🤧 I remember continuously putting this book down because I couldn’t get past the first page and the pig. But I stuck it out and within the first chapter I was thrown, not 1, but 2 curveballs. Even more curveballs in the 2nd chapter and I loved every minute of it. Dusty, which I wished was short for something lol, reminds me of current me personality wise. She has a slick mouth and keeps her promises. I LOVED Colden. He’s so swoon worthy.

I don’t know how you do it, but this book was a 2 week time period but it was enough. I wish the ending was different because it got a bit cheesy and predictable. I was waiting for more life threatening action lol idk working that case I thought the story might be so....exhilarating and I think that’s why it’s getting 4/5 stars from me.

This is still a great book and I still don’t know how you do it. But this time I wish it were longer with more thrills and a chase. Still would recommend it to everyone 💙✨

Dusty Evans Owens was a wild child moving around in her youth. She finally came to rest in Odessa Texas when she was 18 and her aunt had passed away. Her young cousin Sissy and her uncle needed her support. Dusty fell hopelessly in love with Colden James or St. James as she calls him, but he never acknowledged her existence.

Colden Saint James (Saint is his middle name, his brother is Jimmy James), is in his early 20’s. He’s just returned home from special training with ATF/FBI. He’s a small town cop for the moment and has been nick named The Saint by the town because he’s quite, sticks mostly to himself, will help anyone and stays out of trouble. Colden wasn’t prepared to meet the new resident when he returned from training; Dusty Owens stole his heart at first glance. He remembers it like it just happened. Someone captured the moment on film. He keeps that picture with him and when asked what it is he says “This is a picture of me and my wife on the first day we met.”

Colden feels that Dusty is too young for him so he hides his feelings until one night two years later when he finally gives in, taking her and her virginity. The intensity of his feelings scare him so when he is offered a position in Detroit the next day, he takes it. Little did he know it would be six years before he would come back.

This is where the story starts. This is a delightful story about these two people who were at one madly in love with each other, but of course they never told a soul. It’s full of hot sex with lines like “the pussy wants what the pussy wants” and “she wanted to do bad things to him … but not the good kind of bad things either.” This book also has drama, boy does it have drama. There are scenes with guns, kidnapping and internal battles. Can they work through the hurt caused by six years of separation? Can Colden convince Dusty that he has always cared? Colden is no longer “The Saint”, he’s changed over the six years he’s been gone. His line of work will do that. He has tattoos, big muscles and a much more dominant side Dusty hadn’t seen before. This book does have a few cliché lines, but all and all it’s a good read.

I give this book 3.5 stars

Broken Fences
(A Trouble Maker Novel #1)
Kelly Gendron
This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
Dusty Owens is running the local bar, The Bucking Barrel and she is the best female mechanical bull rider around. It is a good thing too because her only night of passion was with Colden "Saint " James six years ago, one night of hard loving before he left her and left the town and his family behind.
Cousin Sissy is getting married to Colden's brother Jimmy and it seems that Colden is back in town for the wedding. To be the best man beside Dusty who is the maid of honour.
Colden has been hungering and loing Dusty since he left home to work undercover for the FBI and is only home now because his cover may have been blown and he needs to protect those that he loves. He loves Dusty and is willing to continue where they left off. It warms his heart to know that there has been no one else for her. He quickly introduces her to passion again.
Trouble has followed him home and for awhile things are a little tense, he must keep Dusty safe, tucked away and out of harms way. Unfortunately Dusty is a little spitfire and they do not always see eye to eye, expect in the bedroom of course. There she is submissive to his dominant side and loving ever bit of it, every caress of it.
They burn up the sheets and the balcony and a few other places as they give in to the heat surrounding them. But, will he come clean about where he has been and why he left her the first time? Will she be able to get over her feelings of betrayal and abandonment? Seems that everyone she loves eventually leaves her. She has a lot of love to give, if she can only trust him again.
This was a good lenght novel that I was able to finish in one sitting. It kept my interest easily as it was pretty fast paced. The characters are well fleshed out with the right amount of secondary characters for good interest. The sex scenes were perfect, a bit of dominance but still keeping plenty of good old romance and just straight up loving. I would definately read more by this author. A solid 4/5.

Cousin Sissy is getting married to Colden’s brother Jimmy and it seems that Colden is back in town for the wedding. To be the best man beside Dusty who is the maid of honor.
Colden has been hungering and loving Dusty since he left home to work undercover for the FBI and is only home now because his cover may have been blown and he needs to protect those that he loves.

This was a good length novel that I was able to finish in one sitting. It kept my interest easily as it was pretty fast paced. The characters are well fleshed out with the right amount of secondary characters for good interest. The sex scenes were perfect, a bit of dominance but still keeping plenty of good old romance and just straight up loving. I would definitely read more by this author.

I give this book, 2.5 stars: what does this mean to me? I feel neutral. A fair read. Take it or leave it.

Please be aware this is an Adult Novel.

This book, just wasn’t for me. I tried very hard to enjoy it and I admit there were moments that I liked, but I just didn’t find myself lost in the novel. To me, the characters were not real enough, they did not jump off the page at me.

Dusty Owens is a girl who fell deeply in love with an older man and had her heart-broken, when he disappeared on her without a single word.
Now six years later, Colden Saint James is back in town and Dusty is one confused woman, especially since Colden is no longer the “Saint” of a man he used to be. Can Dusty resist this temptation, does she really want to? Why did Colden disappear and why is he back in town? I guess if you want to find out, you will have to grab this book and add it to your reading Library.

While I’m sitting here writing this review and thinking about Broken Fences, one major thing keeps popping in my head and that’s ” Man Parts “. I know, seems odd doesn’t it? But That phrase is used so many times in this book, that it’s all I can think of. Colden and Dusty many times refer to Colden’s “Man parts”, now I can see a woman maybe thinking this in passing but really a man? I’ve never heard a man in my life call his stuff, man parts especially when referring to the hardness of them. It honestly made me giggle when I heard Colden say this phrase, I even read several passages to my husband to see if I was just being to critical, but he agreed with me men just don’t say “man parts”.

This is the only book I’ve read of Kelly’s and I’m willing to keep reading her stories, everyone deserves a second chance. I’m not saying don’t read this or that this is the worse book I’ve ever read, Just that it wasn’t for me. So, if you read the description and you think you might like it give it a try!

** 4.5 out of 5 Stars **

Read my full review and many others at http://romancereaders101.blogspot.com

You know it's gonna be a good book when the first line has you thinking "What the ..."!

The loud squeal may have jilted her heart, but it was the flying pig that stopped Dusty Owens dead in her tracks...

Yeah, I was hooked...and laughing hysterically. Broken Fences was an awesome book and I enjoyed every minute of it. I grabbed me from page one and I was hooked from that point on. I read late into last night and finished up this morning. You have a heroine who's smart, funny, and takes no prisoners where anyone is concerned...especially Colden. You have a hero who has been in love with the same girl for years regardless of the distance and years spent away from each other. He's just ruthless enough that he'll do what he has to in making her swing his way. These two were made for each other but circumstances outside of their control tore them apart before they even had a chance to really get started. The sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts. I was fanning myself at times! The book is written in dual POV so we get both sides of their story. At times I wanted to throw my Kindle because all he had to do was tell her how he felt. I wanted to shake her at times too because she's to dang stubborn for her own good. I loved the ending even though it left a lot to be desired. I felt like it just ended and I didn't get to see what happened. I was happy with it though.

Things I loved:

The humor and banter between Colden and Dusty
The pace and excitement in the book
The quotes
The ending...to a point

I'm giving Broken Fences 4.5 stars because it's a great book and a quick read that leaves you feeling happy with a smile on your face. If you're looking for something quick with enough excitement and drama to keep you entertained and drawn in then take a chance on this baby...it's worth it!

It took two years for Dusty to gain Colden’s attention – she got what she wanted, and even broke a fence for evidence, but the next day, he was nowhere to be found. Years later, he was back in town but he was no longer the same person as he was. He was no longer the good-cop. Instead, he was sure of himself, more aggressive and certainly hotter. Dusty needed to be careful, or else she was in for heartbreak.

It was tantalizing, hot, steamy, sweet and I so love the chase of the thrill. Both characters are interesting and stubborn to a fault. I wished Colden would just be straight honest to Dusty why he needed to leave. I’m sure she’d understand. Dusty just wanted to protect her heart, she had issues with people leaving her, and Colden leaving her did not only struck her ego, but her heart as well. It will take a lot of crawling on his part to get on her good terms once again.

These two had a lot of pent-up frustration, the sexual tension was extreme, and every exchange was pure foreplay. I enjoyed reading this novel. This was a book that kept me warm during the storm – thank you Kelly Gendron. :)

Synopsis

Odessa, Texas has proved to be a lonely place especially for Dusty Owens. After only coming to this place to watch out for her beloved cousin, Dusty finds herself in the arms of hotness Colden "Saint" James. Giving into the virtual saint of the county and then being left the next day tends to make a girl a little wary of men. Six years is a long time to be away from the person that means more to you than she thinks, Colden is determined to piece her heart back together.

Will Dusty be able to forgive Colden after she finds out why he really left and will the he be able to protect her from that reason?

My take...

This was a fun start to a series that I will give 4.5 stars too. Colden is also all kinds of hotness that made me want to crawl into the book and lick him. He is very sincere and doesn't treat Dusty with kid gloves because he messed up six years ago. The sex was yummylicous and the connection between them was noticeable. Dusty was a strong women who for obvious reasons is leery to let St. James back in. She wasn't whiney which anyone who has read my reviews before knows I dislike whiney women.

I would have like to see the reason he was gone play out just a little bit more. Put more of a drama factor into it. Hence the 4.5 , but over all a great book. This is a new author for me and so far very impressed.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Her eyes snapped open just in time to catch Colden swaggering into the kitchen in nothing more than a pair of low-slinging athletic pants. Even his feet were naked. Tattoos wrapped around his sculpted biceps and curled donw one beautifully proportioned side, disappearing beneath a loose waistband. There was a spot where is eight-pack -- yes, his eight-pack -- ended and the curve of his hip began. No human anatomy expert, she couldn't say for sure which muscle it was, but she wanted to slide her tongue over it, to follow the delicious contour down past his pelvic area while she pulled on the drawstring hanging hazardously from those sexy, hipbone-exposing pants."

The last thing Dusty Owens wanted to do was track down her cousin's fiance' and give him what for making Sissy cry; however, that's exactly what she was doing. Giving Jimmy a piece of her mind, she was shocked to see his long lost brother, Colden James, comes to his defense.

Colden James had left Odessa six years ago without a backward glance -- the day after he took her virginity. Now that he's back, Dusty is determined not to let that man get to her, now matter how good looking he looks.

Colden James ran six years ago. Knowing he was in over his head and in love with a girl who had the power to do him in, he took the easy way out when a federal job came a-calling.

I really enjoyed Colden and Dusty's story and can't wait to read about the other Troublemakers.

Kelly Gendron just went on my favorite author list. I love her style, her characters, alpha male, woman who doesn’t take any grief and can stand up on her own two feet, and a hot steamy romance. LOVED this book.

When Colden would move, just from reading, you could feel the atmosphere around him, what was building between them, what was inevitably coming. You could understand Dusty’s hesitation, her hurt, where it comes from, the deepness behind it.

I loved the story. It was a beautiful romance with a lot of steam, it was just perfect.

I have to touch on the title for a second. I don’t think that Kelly could have named this anything that was more (repeating myself because this word just fits with this book) perfect.

If I had to come up with one thing that this book boils down to for me it is that if two people don’t communicate miscommunication is the only thing that happens. It can destroy relationships and the only way to find out if they are repairable or not is to start communicating, being open and honest. Colden didn’t know things about Dusty, that if he had known might have changed how he acted the first time around. Dusty didn’t have any clue what Colden had been up to for 6 years, why he left, any of that, she was left to draw her own conclusions, and that never works out well in any situation.

I am so glad I was able to take part in this blog tour and was able to read an ARC of this book. I found a new author and series that I absolutely must start following.

Broken Fences by Kelly Gendron is the first book in her TroubleMaker series.

Dusty has moved on past the broken-fence and Colden James and the night she lost her virginity. It was either move on or mope miserably for SIX whole years. Besides, his brother Jimmy said he's married with three kids. Definitely time to move on right? Except when Colden steps back into town and into her bar he walks straight back into her heart.

Colden has been working undercover for the FBI for the past six years and made one stupid mistake. He's been carrying around a picture of Dusty this whole time. Now it's missing and his cover might have been blown. He heads back to Odessa and watches over her from the shadows. The bad guys have seen her picture but there's no way they're ever gonna lay a hand on the woman he loves.

When Colden finds out his little brothers wedding is just weeks away he emerges from the shadows, now having a legitimate reason to be home after all this time. Now if only he can convince Dusty that she belongs to him, that he's not really married with three kids and that he has always loved only her...

A lot of funny, a little action, plenty of heat and voila! You have one great story on your hands. I especially liked how acquiescent Dusty becomes when Colden gets his "Commanding" voice during their intimate moments.
