This book is another entry in the Fate’s Choice series with a contract marriage trope, but this time it’s definitely the longest in the series and has a noticeably different tone.
It leans much more into a dystopian vibe, while still keeping the spice level high, with plenty of explicit scenes, some of them going on for multiple pages.
The thing I really liked was adding of some rarer tropes you don’t see that often in MM books, like a main character who’s a kendo practitioner, and there’s even an actual fight in that style.

The story focuses on the dynamic between a very young (20) but super strong-headed alpha who grew up in the mafia and managed to escape it, with a dominant, unyielding personality, and a 22-year-old tattoo artist who spent his teenage years as an orphan on the streets. Despite a brain injury caused by abuse from his stepfather, which left him with reduced impulse control, he still managed to build a life on his own terms, kinda 'survivor' type.
These two personalities clash hard, since neither of them fits the typical “submissive” role, and that tension runs through pretty much the entire book. It only really settles near the end, after a major plot twist, when they finally reach some kind of understanding. The road to that point is long, though, because Salt is impulsive and explosive, while Eliano is very much that proud, stubborn Italian (Sicilian) type, so the tension between them never really drops.

What I always enjoy about this author is how animalistic and well-developed the omegaverse elements feel. We get knotting, nesting, alpha/omega sounds, the gradual development of pheromone sensing, mpreg, and the neck marking in mating. All of it is shown through a nice progression, especially as Salt’s senses as a beta start waking up and intensifying so he can respond to Eliano.

Another strong point is the worldbuilding. The island setting feels believable, and the situation the characters are in is pretty unique, with a distinctly dystopian edge. There’s a lot of detail that builds this constant sense of unease and mystery.

If I had to take off half a point, it would be for the sheer amount of explicit scenes. I personally enjoy them, but they’re very concentrated in one part of the book, and it might have worked better if they were spread out more evenly.

Overall, I didn’t get bored with this book. The pacing is generally moderate, only speeding up occasionally, but it still reads really smoothly and the pages go by fast.

Unchain Me is the latest MM romance from Eden West. This time, the story takes place on an island where they’re running a rather controversial program meant to awaken betas' fertility, and that really sets the vibe for the whole book.
The main characters, Salt and Eliano, are somewhat pushed into a contract marriage that ends up working for both of them, as usual arranged by Storm Nolan, the matchmaker from the earlier books. You also get the classic dynamic where Storm is like "you’re fated mates", and they’re like "yeah… we don’t really buy that", which keeps things moving, because they act like there’s no special bond between them and just focus on their own goals.
I especially liked Eliano. He’s young, but he’s got a good head on his shoulders and strong morals. Salt is way more impulsive, and his anger outbursts, caused by his brain injury, feel believable, but they did make it harder for me to fully like him.
The tension between them stays high the whole time. They’re both hiding things, and neither of them is the submissive type, so they keep clashing. But what Eliano does near the end is amazing and kind of jaw-dropping. I would say Salt got really lucky with him. I wouldn’t mind a guy like that either.

The book has a really satisfying HEA!
This author is great at tying everything up, fixing what was broken, and leaving you with that good, settled feeling at the end.

I read ARC. It's my honest review.

3.5 stars. It's so hard for me to rate this one. This author has a great imagination, but the ongoing awkwardness of the language is constantly tripping me up. She states that English isn't her first language, and I think it's pretty damn amazing to be able to write so much in a language that one isn't a native speaker of, buuuuuuuuuuut the lack of contractions, some of the outdated wording, and just the general rhythm are distracting in a way that adds up. I'd love to read more from her, but hope at some point she has the means to invest in an editor to smooth those things out. But ANYWAY, the story! The first half was both horrific and fun. She certainly doesn't pull punches when it comes to giving her characters difficult backstories, and both Eliano and Salt - and later, others - had truly horrifying things happen to them. The "fun" factor is just that, well, it's a story! We want some drama! LOL. But after it started to go downhill for me. Actually, as soon as they started sleeping together the sex started to escalate into becoming gratuitous to the plot, so I basically skimmed all of that, and then Eliano not telling Salt REALLY didn't work for me. It felt too forced for plot purposes, and not at all consistent with Eliano's character or his devotion to Salt. And then there was the ending. Not the epilogue, but the resolution of the bi climax. Look, I get that it was partially a setup for a future book in the series, and I'm here for it, but it also basically took all the tension they were feeling about "oh shit how do we get out of this?!" and just magicked it away with a solution that meant everything was fine and they didn't have to lift a finger. So, yeah. That happened. But you know what? Even if the book itself had issues - from the language to the actual plot - it's a detailed world the author's created and fun to visit. Eliano was a total sweetheart, Salt was... well, he had his reasons for being a dick, but I'm still glad he got his HEA, and I am more than willing to accept some of the flaws here to be entertained. And yes, I *do* plan on picking up the next book, too! 🤣

Genre: MM omegaverse (with a dystopian ubran fantasy element)
Spice level: 4/5 (very high, more than 8 s*x/making out scenes :)
Main trope: 'Forced' marriage to a quadruple killer
TW: nothing too crazy, a bit of violence
Romance type: hurt/comfort
Plot pace: medium/slow
Overall tone: light-dark
Pairing: beta + alpha
Size difference between MCs: 5'11.5'' and 6'8''
Roles: strict t/b
Series: Standalone
Cheating: No
Mpreg: yes, but only at the very end/epilogue
Ending: HEA

Another long one from this author. It’s set in the same universe as the others, but this time the story takes place on an isolated island, in a facility for betas who want to awaken their fertility, so a lot of the plot revolves around the program running there.
The beginning hits with a fast pace and some really intense events that introduce the characters and their backgrounds and motivations. Then things slow down on the island as the characters get to know each other, and of course, there’s plenty of tension between them.

One thing worth pointing out is that they enter a contractual marriage for non-romantic reasons, each with their own hidden agenda, which eventually leads to a confrontation. I have to admit, the third-act breakup was done really well, I couldn’t put the book down, and then Eliano’s investigation was so gripping I ended up reading late into the night.

After that, there’s the part where they return and start building a new kind of closeness between them. It feels calmer at first, but that’s misleading, because suddenly, wow, there’s an unexpected twist. The book constantly shifts between slower moments and bursts of action, which kept me from ever getting bored.

I especially liked Eliano as a character. Despite being young, he’s a strong, dominant alpha, but Salt pushes back hard, so it takes them a while to find their balance. The chemistry between them is great(both vir*ins at the start), and there's an insane number of s*x scenes, very long, sometimes for a few pages!

My rating: 5/5
I read an ARC.

Salt is a Beta whose brother was taken from him and so he does the only thing he can do, he takes revenge on the 4 Alphas that took his brother from him. There's no question about his guilt, he did it and he has one more name on his list. But it's hard to get to that last Alpha from inside a jail cell.

Eliano Ferro has finally escaped his family prison, but he grew up in that home and is finding out very quickly that although the family home was a prison in many respects, it was a luxurious one that didn't teach him how to live in the real world very well. Especially while trying to hide from his uncle who is still hunting for him.

Enter Storm Nolan and Fate! Storm is convinced that these two are True Mates, so much so he pulls strings where he can and gets Salt and Eliano into the Beta Activation Program on a Secluded Island.

It's perfect for Eliano, a place to hide, a place to settle and a person to make a connection with. But Salt has other plans. Revenge waits for no one, but the more time they spend together Salt begins to wonder if maybe there is more to life than revenge.

The island holds secrets of its own and soon the couple sees that paradise is not all that glitters. They don't fit in so well and the strings that are being pulled start to unravel their new temporary accommodations and pull at the fragile bond developing between them.

This book has all the feels, it will make you angry (right along with Salt as he tries to avenge his brother). It will make you swoon (as you watch these two fight fate and their bonds of love). It will make you cry (happy and sad tears). And as she always does Eden has through in a few twists that will have your jaw hitting the floor!

Fantastic read!

This was such a fantastic read! Warnings it is dark so please read CW.

The action starts right away and so does the feels. You read why salt became a quadruple unaliver. And even when he is put in jail his mind doesn't stop working.. he has things he needs to finish. He then joins the second chance agency they give criminals the chance to rehabilitate and find a mate.

Our other protagonist is Eliano a tough Alpha who has his own demons to defeat. You can see these two are attracted to each other but at times there own agendas get in the way. So there is some angst in this book!! Its also nice and spicy 4/5. The book is long but it felt just right.. it moved at a good pace and things got wrapped up nice.

I cant wait to read more about the side characters Elianos brothers and even Drax. I think those stories will weave into this one nicely.

I will finish by saying I love Salts character!! He felt really to me.. the blind rage he felt at times. I won't spoil things.. I can say.. terrible things happened and he acted as such, but you also see him grow and change as a character.

I will read this again for sure.

okkk… a lot to unpack here. But I am very sorry for the low rating. Part 2 of the story was what I was expecting the whole time but instead I got Part One the majority of the read.

Unfortunately Salt was presented as a very annoying and fairly stupid character and he made me reach my limit. The manipulative designs and gaslighting in this book really got to me too and made it a terribly annoying read for the most part even though the MCs storyline was quite interesting.

The only saving grace is Part 2 and Eliano and the side characters. Eliano is so gorgeously perfect I can’t get enough of him. And the side characters left a great impression - I really want to read more about them (even Drax!)

I don’t think I could ever get myself to reread this again but I do look forward to upcoming books by Eden West.

An Amazing Read

Well here we are again in the Fate’s Choice Omegaverse True Mates World. Here we have Salt and Eliano. Salt, who is name the Alpha killer and Eliano, an ex-mafia member. You may go “Oh wow, ok murderer and Mafia guy, there’s going to be blood everywhere.” Well, you’re half right. Both guys are jaded but deep down both are sweet, kind and caring. But be careful and don’t let Eliano’s sweetness fool you. He doesn’t take kindly to anyone touching or saying negative things to his True Mate. This book has so much going on that it will keep you reading. At least for me it did. I think I only put it down a few times to take care of personal matters. It’s an excellent read with great characters and a wonderful storyline. This universe is just wonderful and it hasn’t been let down at any point, including reading this book. Absolutely 5 stars 🌟 worthy. It’s worth more stars ✨ but that is all I can give.
Enjoy the Read! I sure did! 💜❤️

Wow, it was an interesting book! A rollercoaster of emotions! Urban fantasy/omegaverse mostly, but with a creative plot. I read an ARC, it took me some time to finish it, since it’s 680 pages, but that was something! I went back and forth between hating Salt and loving him a few times, and the reveal at the end was sooo satisfying. I want more and more of Blue and Ennio's books! So long to wait.

This book is really well done. I love the story, unusual and interesting, and I was so immersed in it that I forgot to eat for a few hours. I just needed to keep reading. The Sicilian language in the book was a treat to my heart, especially since I have some Sicilian ancestry myself, and I got really interested in Drax! I’m happy he’s going to have his own book. I feel like he was done dirty 😄
