I started reading this book late Wednesday night, I was flicking through my Kindle to see which book was up next to review, and it wasn't there so I jumped to this book, and not taking much notice to the synopsis or such I dived straight in.
20% in and I started to get Déjà vu feelings and then I realised I was reading book 2 of a Book Series I previously read [Book:Better Left Forgotten] and enjoyed :) well it was midnight when I started! (I have a hard time sleeping - which is great for my reading time!)
This book is the type you could be read as stand alone but if you can read it in order as it will make much more sense to you.
Danni Carter is a girl after my own heart, Book lover! quiet, loyal but tough & feisty underneath, after having to deal with a cheating boyfriend, her obsession from her teenage years comes back on the scene. Nate was a character I took a liking to in the first book, Danni also appears briefly in the first book too.
Danni's life is about to get complicated, and Nate is not letting her deal with it alone... he has now grown up and realised he made a mistake thwarting Danni's affection when he was younger and is determined to get beyond her defenses.
The stalker that is making Danni's life a misery could be any number of characters introduced into the book, and Ms Gray has done a good job of keeping the reader guessing, I suspected one character, who I knew was just a total slime ball, but although he most definitely is that, it wasn't him in the end!
The synopsis says His obsession will lead to a death, but whose death will it be and again the plot twist certainly added to the tension to the end of the book.
The book deals with kidnapping, Stalkers and Sexual Assault but its been written in a way that doesn't glorify it for drama's sake and how the epilogue dealt with the aftermath was to me personally very real and not overdone.
I do like this book series and I know that Dante and Kelly's story is next and that will be on my TBR list.
Well done Ms Gray, this book series has a great group of characters, oh and I loved how the Birthday BBQ scene was written (Brought back many memories of June Birthday BBQs which got Rained off or ended up held sitting under the Plastic Gazebo wrapped up in Fleece Jumpers and huddling next to the gas heater! - I must say I prefer my Aussie BBQ's Jumping into the pool is much more fun)
