Note To Don’t Fall For Your Tour Guide's "Rock Solid" Tower of Pisa.
There are two types of planners and chaos-makers. I, Katie Crawford, am the former—color-coded, laminated, and ready for anything. So when my fiancé dumps me for being too Type A, I do the logical fly to Italy with my cougar aunt’s senior-swingers’-bus-tour to prove I can be spontaneous.
The Loosen up. Be fun. Win my fiancé back. The Him.
Matteo Monti—ridiculously gorgeous, charming, and smug. My Italian tour guide who treats life like a never-ending holiday. He calls me Checklist. I call him Walking Red Flag. Now, thanks to some highly suspicious booking errors, we’re sharing hotel rooms, stealing kisses under Venetian stars, and fighting over who's in control ( It’s me. Obviously).
Tour Guide Rule #1: Don’t Catch Feelings.
Ciao, I’m Matteo, and I have a system. Show tourists Italy, flex my forearms, avoid emotional entanglements. Simple, right? Until I meet her—Katie—stubborn, uptight, and impossible to resist. The more I push, the harder she pushes back. And now? I'm forgetting why I ever made rules at all.
She's running from perfect. I'm hiding from forever. But on these winding Italian roads, we might just crash right into love.
A spicy, laugh-out-loud romcom about desire, detours, and what happens when life refuses to follow the itinerary. Meghan Quinn fans will love this Opposites Attract, Vacation Fling, Road Trip romance with steamy Forced Proximity and Snarky Banter as Foreplay.
MéLisa Ryun is our pen name, and we're a husband-wife duo who've been finishing each other's sentences (and steamy scenes) for nearly 30 years. We left the glitz of Hollywood for the glitter of Vegas. Despite calling Sin City home, we say what happens in Vegas should definitely not stay in Vegas-not when it comes to our scorching hot romcoms. We spend our days in a death match of yoga and joke-writing. It's like we're competing in a bizarre reality show where the winner gets to avoid stepping outside into Satan's armpit. We used to write for Hollywood and YouTube. Now we write books and social media posts. It's basically the same thing, except now our audience can read ¿ Maybe we'll trauma dump about our life in LA in a book someday. Or maybe we'll just keep writing about fictional people with better lives than ours.We write steamy open-door romcoms that'll make your grandma blush and your girlfriends wink knowingly. Our characters? So real you'll swear they've been eavesdropping on your life, with banter as finely honed as a cover model's abs and sparks that'll melt your e-reader. Our mission? What happens when a type A personality, who has planned out basically every minute of her life, gets dumped and her wedding called out? It seems like going on a spontaneous trip to win back her ex-fiancé by showing that she can be spontaneous and not plan her life out, which was a reason for the breakup. Motivated by this, she goes with her aunt on a senior citizen bus tour. Which wouldn’t be a problem until she meets the handsome tour guide named Matteo, who is the opposite of her. He is unorganized and making things up as he goes through life, but passionate about his job and giving his tour groups an authentic tour around Italy and making sure they fall in love with his country. Katie and Matteo seem to clash as Mattero pursues Katie who pursues making her ex-fiancé want to win her back via social media pictures. The two eventually form a fake dating pact to make Katie’s ex jealous, but we all know what fake dating leads to!
This was such a cute and wholesome read! It feels like a lot of romance book nowadays are filled with fluff and dominated by spicy scenes, so it was such a delight reading this book. There are some spicy scenes but felt like it was a good amount. Also there was a lot of character development as well as highlighting Italy’s beauty! Thank you Happily Booked PR for this arc ✨
This book was absolutely hilarious! I had the best time traveling through Italy with these two. The banter? Top-tier. The spice? When it hits, it HITS. This spicy romcom was everything I needed, and I cannot stress enough how much you need to read it!
Katie thrives on structure—she loves a perfectly planned itinerary. But Matteo? The ridiculously charming (and infuriating) tour guide who keeps changing everything? He drives her up the wall… until all that tension turns into something neither of them can ignore.
From the first page, I was hooked. A spontaneous trip to Italy? A slow-burn romance with the guide? Sign me up. I adored Katie as a main character—her struggles with how people perceive her were so relatable, and watching her finally loosen up in Italy? Perfection. She grew so much in this book, and I loved every second of it.
And Matteo? Swoon. He was Katie’s complete opposite in all the best ways—relaxed, spontaneous, and always making sure everyone had the best time. His kindness? His charm? I loved him. And don’t even get me started on the chemistry between him and Katie—it was fiery, sweet, and just so good.
I have to mention the senior travelers on this trip because they were hilarious. Their antics had me laughing out loud, and they were such a fun addition to the story. Makes me want to travel with them.
Italy Can Bite Me is the perfect vacation read—fun, flirty, and packed with humor, romance, and swoon-worthy moments. If you love romcoms that make you laugh out load and swoon, this one’s a must-read. I cannot wait for the next book!
Italy Can Bite Me! releases on March 20th, and trust me, you don’t want to miss it. Huge thanks to MéLisa and the Happily Booked ARC team for the chance to review this gem!
Okay, honestly? I loved this book. It’s a rom-com packed with sass, banter, and amazing chemistry — and I was absolutely here for it.
What I Loved •The Humor & Banter: This book had me actually laughing out loud — and that’s rare for me. The snarky back-and-forth between Katie and Matteo was gold. The jokes landed perfectly, and some scenes had me full-on cracking up. •Aunt Deb: Oh my god, Aunt Deb. I absolutely adored her! She’s the kind of person I wish I had in my life — bold, hilarious, and the true MVP of the story. If I can be even half as cool as Aunt Deb when I’m older, I’ll consider that a win. •The Seniors: The senior group was such a highlight! They brought so much fun, chaos, and heart to the story. Honestly, now I kind of want to go on a seniors’ trip just to experience that energy. •The Chemistry: Matteo and Katie’s dynamic was chef’s kiss. They’re total opposites — Katie’s Type A, super organized, and a complete planner, while Matteo’s laid-back, charming, and the definition of a walking red flag. But somehow, they just worked. Their differences made them a perfect pair, and I loved watching them challenge (and fall for) each other. •The Spice: Oh yes, the heat was there, and it was just the right amount. Enough to keep things exciting without overpowering the heart of the story.
The Characters •Katie: Honestly, Katie took a little time to grow on me. As someone who’s not a planner (I’m definitely an overthinker, but not organized), I found her a bit frustrating at first. But once I warmed up to her, I loved seeing her let go and embrace the chaos. •Matteo: Matteo was that classic playboy with charm for days — and he didn’t disappoint. He’s the swoony, sexy Italian guide you expect him to be, but there’s more to him than meets the eye, and I loved that. •Petra & Cam: Katie’s friends were fantastic! Their group dynamic felt so real and refreshing. They were exactly what a solid friend group should be — supportive, funny, and full of love. •Lorenzo: I didn’t expect to love this guy so much, but wow — he barely says much, yet he’s such a standout character. Quiet but memorable.
Favorite Moments •The first date scene — absolute chaos, but in the best way possible. I couldn’t stop laughing! •The descriptions of Italy were so rich that I honestly felt like I was right there, exploring the streets, eating the food, and soaking in the sights. Now I desperately want to go on a vacation — preferably to Italy.
Overall Thoughts
I don’t usually read a lot of romance (especially rom-coms since I’m more of a fantasy reader), but this book? This book hit all the right spots. It’s funny, flirty, and packed with just the right amount of heart and heat. It felt like watching a rom-com movie unfold — and I was completely invested.
Knowing that this was written by a husband-and-wife duo makes it even better. The way both points of view are written — Matteo’s and Katie’s — feels so authentic, and you can tell the authors brought their own dynamic into the characters.
If you’re looking for a book that’ll make you laugh, swoon, and crave a vacation — this is it. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for whatever Mélisa Ryun writes next.
Italy can bite me was an amazingly chaotic adventure. I loved everything about this book. I definitely laughed a lot! Each chapter was full of laughter, adventure, flirting, and a little chaos. This book has me looking to book a vacation and go on a tour with the elderly!
If you enjoy reading rom-com romance books then this one is one I highly recommend!
Okay, when I say this book is one of the only ones that made me literally laugh loud enough for the public to hear, I mean it! The humor is top tier, and the characters are well rounded and fun. I was pulled in from the very start, and finished this book in record time. (Might’ve been because my kindle followed me everywhere, and I couldn’t bear to part with this story until I knew what happened next). The general feel of the story is lighthearted and genuine, and I was really pleased with the character development. The setting was beautiful, and the storyline was easy to follow. I was really happy with the writing style, it wasn’t overflowing with unnecessary descriptions and the dialogue felt natural and interesting. The banter was *chefs kiss*, and the tension that builds between both the MC and the MMC was fantastic and well paced. I felt like I really got to know these characters deep down and could relate with a lot of their life struggles, self conscious thoughts, worries and excitement. The differences in age between the characters gave it a really genuine and balanced feel, which I felt was unique. If you’re looking for a heartwarming and bright story that’s engaging and entertaining, definitely get this book ASAP! ☺️
This book was a ton of fun with some emotional bumps along the way. I have never had a book make me laugh this hard! Witty, extremely entertaining and kept me turning the pages!
“Out where the vines grow wild and the air tastes like possibility, there are no schedules. No plans. No need to control every heartbeat, every breath, every moment. Just… living. The opposite of who I’ve been.”
This book had everything I love—laugh-out-loud moments, sizzling chemistry, and heartfelt character growth. The FMC’s journey of learning to let go and embrace the unexpected was beautifully written, while the MMC brought the perfect balance of charm and depth.
I absolutely adored the supporting characters, especially the senior citizens who added such a fun (and sometimes chaotic) element to the story. Their antics had me cackling!
MéLisa and Ryun have done it again with this swoony, hilarious, and emotional romance. I couldn’t put it down! Huge thanks to them for sending me a copy—this one’s a must-read!
ARC Review of Italy Can Bite Me by MéLisa Ryun🩵✈️🇮🇹🍝🍕🍷🏛️🌶️🚌📚
Italy Can Bite Me is an absolute delight—the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud, swoon uncontrollably, and fall completely in love.
Katie is a planner to the extreme, with every detail of her life mapped out—including her love life. But life (and Matteo) have other plans. Matteo is pure Italian charm—smooth, flirty, and frustratingly irresistible. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Their banter? Perfection. And then there’s Aunt Deb and her hilarious crew of seniors, who bring even more joy to this already vibrant story.
But it’s not just laughs—there are tender, emotional moments too, especially with Matteo’s past. The balance of humor and heart is flawless, making this story feel so real and so special. The writing is effortless, the dialogue sparkles, and every page is filled with warmth.
This book made my heart so happy. If you love feel-good romance with charm, wit, and characters who steal your heart, read this immediately.💘

🩵My Favorite Quotes🩵
“That’s… that’s me?” She blinks rapidly like she’s trying to reconcile the seductress on-screen. “I look…” “Like a woman who doesn’t just catch a man’s attention—she chains him to her presence. You look like a weapon of desire—like the reason priests question their calling.”
“Katie, I will rearrange my entire life for you. Stay. Please. I’ve been going crazy wondering how I can ask without scaring you off.” “Really?” “I don’t know what this is, but I want to find out. With you.”
‼️Book coming out March 20th on Amazon, and I'm already so stoked for everyone to read it and love it as much as I did‼️
Italy Can Bite Me.. better yet, Matteo can bite me (in a good way of course). MeLisa Ryun sure know how to write a romantic comedy and there should be an emphasis on the word COMEDY, because these one liners they write will have literal tears streaming down your face. I have never openly laughed so much reading a book. I'm over here trying to keep my poker face during the spice scenes (and let me tell you they are HOT HOT HOT) but who knew I would have to fight so hard not to laugh out loud while reading in public.
You have all the best tropes in one book: Opposites attract Close Proximity Vacation Fling Snarky Banter as foreplay
You have Katie, the overachieving, organized till RIP woman on a trip through Italy with her outgoing spicy Aunt on a old folks tour with the most go-with-the-flow tour guide who will do everything in his power not to plan a single thing, . It's her mission to get this Italian Stallion to break his one rule, DO NOT SLEEP WITH THE WOMAN IN HIS TOUR GROUP and he wants nothing more than to keep that rule but can't seem to get her off his mind or his hands off her goods.
Will they, wont they? is the game they play. The back and forth banter between these two will have you swooning, grinning and blushing (at the same time). But when all is said and done the two realize they have more to offer each other besides multiple mind blowing orgasms. Take a leap of faith and cherish every bit of this book!

What happens to a type A personality, after a bad breakup? Goes on a spontaneous trip to Italy with your aunt to prove a point to your ex. Katie lies about having a fiancé to avoid feelings towards her hunky Italian tour guide Matteo who is her complete polar opposite. Spontaneous runs thru Matteo’s bloodstream. But when enough is enough, that Italian tour guide makes Katie feel things that she never thought was possible, that never existed or felt before.
In all honesty, I’ve been a slow reader the past 2 months. I FLEW thru this book. Completely devoured this book. This book trapped me and I never wanted to leave. If I was asked if I were to recommend I would tell you 1000000% over and over again!
If you were in a reading slump i would say THIS BOOK! It was such a fun book to read the chemistry with Katie and Matteo just hits perfectly!
Cute? ✅ spicy/steamy? ✅ This book has it all!!
Quote that made me giggle: When your aunt starts a sentence with “Gather round, my naughty darlings, let’s get this party started!” immediately run in the opposite direction. Do not pass go. Do not collect $ 200. Just run. 😂
Quote that made me shriek with excitement: What kind of lust-filled lunatic falls for a man who doesn’t believe in relationships? 😏
What To Expect: 💕 Opposites Attract 🚘 Vacation Fling 💕 Road Trip 🚘 Forced Proximity 💕 Snarky Banter as Foreplay
Italy Can Bite Me is a rom-com which will get you in vacation mood instantly. It's the first book in a series of standalones.
When Katie is dumped by her 'fiancé', she goes on a two-week trip to Italy with her aunt. There she meets Matteo, her trip guide, who is the exact opposite of her habit of frantically planning everything. She wants her ex to feel jealous (and here comes the fake dating trope yayyyy).
The humour, tension between Katie & Matteo, AUNT DEB (she deserves special shoutout lol), everything was top notch. Absolutely hilarious.

This was an ARC copy, and my thanjs to the author, and Happily Booked.
I absolutely loved this crazy train ( sorry, bus) wreck of a ride through Italy. If you live a whole ton of comedy in with your Romance, the Mateo and Katie are the out there couple for you. I read for the wonderful Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, and if I had just been handed this book and not told who the author was. . . . I could have sworn the comedic talents of MJP were at play here. So, to the story. Because this is an ARC I can't do spoilers, suffice it to say, boringly organized girl unceremoniously dumped, goes in search of dumper, but finds her true self, hilarity and love, and dumps the original dumper!
Italy Can Bite Me by @melisaryun first introduces us to Katie “Control Freak” Crawford, who has binders upon binders of plans for herself, already having planned the next few decades of her life with her fiancé, Jared. When Jared calls off the engagement, her plan for her life is suddenly in shambles and her binders no longer bring her the perfect life or control she needs. So when her wild, free-spirit aunt invites her on a tour of Italy… Katie agrees! The only catch? It’s a senior tour! Katie will be the only non-senior, but probably the most buttoned up of the group too. There Katie will meet the annoyingly hot and charming Italian tour guide, Matteo “Italian Stallion” Monti, and do her best to resist wanting him.
Katie ran away to Italy with the goal of posting pictures to show her ex fiancé how spontaneous and fun she can be, but will the magic of Italy, or the hot Italian tour guide, open her eyes and shift her focus? Or will Matteo’s fear of commitment and Katie’s desire to stick to her perfect life plan get in their way? In this vacation romantic comedy, we get fake dating, GREAT banter, seniors gone wild (while they meddle and try to push Katie and Matteo together!!), all amidst the backdrop of beautiful Italy and all the magic it has to offer.
Thank you to Happily Booked PR for an ARC of this book!
NGL I felt a little too much realism with Katie like I was being called out cause I can definitely be that OCD and controlling about planning on certain things.
Aside from that I was so happy to see Katie, the FMC, spread her wings and cut loose on the spontaneous trip to Italy. It may have taken her a while to loosen up it certainly came easier once she met Matteo, the MMC And he annoyed her and shoved her right out of her plans and her own head showing her how to live again.
This book had several hilarious moments the banter was pretty great overall. the whole opposites attract were really proven in this rom com.
The addition of the older ladies accompanying them added an extra layer of humor especially with Katie’s aunt who has no filter and equally no shame! Get it!
I’d give this book overall a solid 4 ⭐️ and the spice was nice and enjoyable to the plot 2🌶️
This book was so great, and I was chuckling throughout the entire read 😂🤣😂. The authors were spot on about all the things, and the banter between all the characters was hilarious! 👍💯🎉 The FMC journeys from hate to love while the MMC transforms from a womanizer to a devoted Italian Stallion 🐎 Definitely love the writing style and can't wait to read more by the authors!!
Absolutely brilliant. The banter between the main characters was so fun. The humour was top notch h and made me want to keep turning the pages. Absolutely hilarious loved it.
When your fiance dumps you as you are planning the wedding what is the best option? Do you get yourself a tub of ice cream or because you have the best aunt Deb ever do you join her on her 2 week luxury bus excursion in Italy. No brainer right who doesn’t want to spend 10 days in Italy with senior citizens. She decides to tag along with her aunt Deb. Katie is a party planner who’s planning goes far beyond just the parties but her personal life. Binders upon BInders of everything has been planned out for her whole life or so she thinks. Matteo is the tour guide/owner of the tour company Monti Tours and he is tasked with making the next 2 weeks unforgettable. Matteo takes it upon himself to grant wishes to the people on the excursions making sure that they make their vacation memorable. What starts off as a mission for Katie to get Jared her fiance back leads to a friendship and testing the waters with Matteo. His number one rule is “never sleep with women in my tour group”. The whole Italy trip you can say is an epic adventure and I seriously suffered from FOMO as I was reading. The adventures every single person had from sight seeing to nudist beaches. The commentary from aunt Deb who I personally loved was chef’s kiss.Italy can bite Me gives you Romance but more so than anything it is the laughs that you get along the way. If all excursions to Italy are like this, sign me up. Melisa Ryun I am fan and can’t wait to read more books by you two. You have converted this Dark Romance Hockey loving girl to give RomComs a chance. Katie and Matteo’s adventure allows you to believe in taking chances and sometimes when you learn to let things go and take life less seriously maybe that is when greater and better things come along.

- ICBM is the kind of romcom that had me giggling in public, kicking my feet, and shamelessly glued to my Kindle. From the very first page, I was hooked by Katie’s tightly wound, plan-everything personality (this might be me IRL)—because let’s be real, who doesn’t love a FMC who needs a little chaos thrown into her life? Enter Spicy Matteo, the frustratingly charming tour guide who thrives on spontaneity and refuses to stick to her itinerary… in any type of way *winky face*. Their chemistry? HAWTTT. Their banter? DELICIOUS. Every interaction between them had me grinning and cackling, and watching Katie slowly unravel in the best way possible was such a beauty.
But it’s not just about the romance—this book is packed with giggles and heart. The senior travel crew, led by Aunt Deb (who is a whole vibe-I want to be like her when I grow up lol), added so much warmth and hilarity to the story. Every scene with them had me legit laughing out loud, and I honestly wanted to book my own trip just to experience this level of chaos and fun (let’s be real, my constant anxiety would NOT allow it, but a girl can dream). But amidst the comedy, there are also some deeply emotional moments, especially as we learn more about Matteo’s past. The balance between humor and heartfelt moments made the story feel so real and engaging, and I couldn’t get enough of it.
I honestly cannot thank Happily Booked PR and MéLisa Ryun for giving me the chance to ARC read and review this. It’s not my normal I seek out, but I am SOOO glad that I stepped into it!!
I honestly thought this book would be a lot more cliche-y, and I am so glad I was wrong. This book had me hooked from the first chapter. I am not up to Katie's level of organization, but it is something I love to do, so I felt a connection to her character very quickly.
The minute Matteo and Katie met, the chemistry was soooo strong. She read him to filth, and I'm pretty sure that made him fall in love with her instantly. She was just so different with him than she was with any other character she interacted with in the book, which I feel like was a good thing. He brought out a side of her no one else did: the real her. Their banter was also insane. It was a good mix of teasing, spicy, calling each other out, and deflecting.
They were also so opposite sides of the spectrum; she was crazy organized, and he was crazy unorganized. Together, they were bound to be unstoppable. A good mixture of spontaneity and planning.
I wanted so badly to shake her and tell her Jared is not good enough for her; but I loved that she eventually realized that herself when she felt so much different after being around Matteo. I'm glad he showed her what she really wanted for her life. Plus Matteo is a much sexier name than Jared (no offenses to any Jareds out there but it's indisputable).
Thank you Happily Booked PR and MeLisa Ryun for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!!
There was a point in the book when I wanted to snake the FMC, Katie, because she was so unhinged about her ex. But isn’t that what makes any rom com so fun?!
I could actually kind of relate to Katie, I’m a planner and part of my anxiety is making sure I’m prepared for every situation no matter how out of whack it COULD be. Katie makes a binder for every life event- from possible places to have dinner to where to kiss someone if she wants a certain reaction…yeah lol!
When Katie’s aunt Deb invites her on a trip to Italy with a group of other older people’s, Katie isn’t expecting much…until she meets her tour guide Matteo. Matteo is Italian, tall, dark, muscular and dreamy. Oh an Aunt Dep is a wild one! She has no filter and really knows how to get a party going!
Will Matteo help Katie let go of her binder and let loose? Or is this just a little fling?
I highly recommend this one! I can’t wait to read more from Melisa Ryun - who might I add is a wife & husband duo!
Hilarious. It's been a minute to where a book made me LOL. 😆 These two with their banter were the high points of this book. There were so many one-liners that I couldn't stop. All the way through these two made me laugh. I couldn't wait to see what Katie and Matteo were going to say next.
🔥 " Tall, brooding, and yours-for-the-screwing."
🌭"You're going to watch them deep throat wieners on a nudes beach?"
🌶"My lady parts miss him like wine misses cheese."
While their banter was smoking out in front of everyone. Their fire was burning hot while they were alone. And out in the world. That tension was wrought.
It made for a quick, spicy, laughable read. There was no way to put it down.
Italy Can Bite Me is my first last minute sign up by Melisa Ryun. It is a very fun romcom where the main characters are destined into an accidental meet in Italy and god do they explore Italy and each other well for two weeks. There is fun banter and a lot of spicy romance in this book.
Matteo Monti is hot and sexy with a thick Italian accent who owns a small local travel company for local personalised experiences that would fill your heart and give you the best experience of Italy. Katie Crawford our every own Type A, organiser loves to plan and organise everything in her life with her colour-coded binders. Her perfect lives comes to a storming stop when her fiancé Jared decides to break up with her because of her lack of spontaneity and thereof over planning nature. She wants him back, her plan cannot fail or her backup or her backup backup plan. Well until she “spontaneously” decides to go on a two weeks trip to Italy with her aunt and many other seniors where she meet the irresistible Matteo. He is everything she would not want in her life, impulsive, flirtatious, and does not believe in long term relations. His only rule is to never sleep with anyone from his tour and complicate things, well again until the gorgeous blonde in her florals who questioned everything he believed in. He did not stick to the plan and she could not stand him. Little did the fire and banter turn into something lethal lust and desire for each other. Katie did not realise when she started liking spontaneous plans and did not think of anything but Matteo and he did not see that she could be worth every rule he made to be broken. The story was amazing to see the ups and downs they face together and how Katie did not give up on Matteo no matter how difficult it got for them. It was beautiful to see the end of the book and how vulnerable Matteo was during this time.
Melisa has given both the sides of the emotions which are both beautiful to see how he is so carefree at once and then so scared to accept into any relations. Even when he is battling to keep Katie away, a part of him could never separate her from him and it was worth the read. Katie on the other hand did not stop no matter what was thrown her way because she finally found that he is the one and she wants everything with him. Someone who sees her, calls her with beautiful nicknames, she wanted that with him. The book was very beautiful to read although there was something missing which stopped me from giving a 5 star. The emotions were there but there was a small part missing where we could have explored more on Matteo’s past or more on Katie’s life before the trip so that the connection with the book would increase.
Overall, I would rate this book as 3.75 stars and I would thank Melisa Ryun for this opportunity. I look forward to read her work more in the future as well.
OMG - 1,000,000 stars for this laugh out loud rom com that had me in stitches from almost the first page. Listen to this and tell me you're not laughing:
"Aunt Deb leads her silver-haired disciples in a basic tree pose. Holy downward facing disaster! The mortifying scene looks like a herd of overly enthusiastic, hopelessly uncoordinated flamingos playing Twister. It's equal parts hard to watch as it is can't look away."
And how about this one:
"You know you're an old man when the bells hang lower than the rope."
And lastly:
"Alright you horny teenagers!" Chester bellows. "Save some action for Juliet's statue. Those bronze boobies aren't going to fondle themselves."
Now, you'd think to yourself, "Self, that has to be all the good stuff in there." But, unfortunately -or maybe fortunately -YOU'RE WRONG!!! This book is rife with all kinds of wonderful banter, jokes, and shenanigans. You just can't get away with not laughing in this book.
MeLisa and Ryun are the Royal family of hilarity and good writing. Not only do you fall in love with their characters through the book, but you learn to love them so that when the book is over you just want to start reading again. There's nothing better than loving your book besties so much that you want to start reading all over again.
The emotion brought about in this book is amazing and the wounds so deep you wonder if you'll ever see your character grow and bloom, but in the end... *spoiler alert* there is a happy ending.
I'd like to thank the author and Happily Booked PR for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. Top book of the month for sure!
ARC review – Thank you Happily Booked PR and Melisa Ryun for this gifted copy of Italy Can Bite Me.
I love a good RomCom and this one was fantastic! It gave me RomCom movie vibes, and I was here for it. This book could (and should) be made into a movie. Going back and looking at all of the passages I highlighted made me love the book all over again. There were quotes that made me laugh, ones that made me swoon, and ones that made me ready to pack my bags and head on an impromptu trip. It also took me back to the summer I studied abroad in college and spent a few weeks in Italy.
As a perpetual overthinker and an ex over planner (I used to be so organized, but then kids.) I found Katie to be very relatable and had a huge soft spot for her. Was she a little over the top? Yes (“because backup plans should always have backup plans”), but aren’t we all sometimes? Matteo was like so many of the guys I met in Italy. They were all charmers and constantly calling you Bella. But that's why Italian men have the reputation they do, and Matteo did not disappoint! I loved the slow burn and build up between Katie and Matteo. And the spice level was perfection! It was there, but didn’t over power the story.
The side characters in this book, were all loveable and fabulous in their own ways and added humor and depth to the story. Aunt Deb was a riot, and I want to grow up to be like her. Well not exactly like her, but I want to remember to always live life to the fullest and unapologetically be myself. All of the seniors warmed my heart and I loved how feisty they were. They reminded me that age is just a number and you are as young as you feel. Petra and Cam were the friends every girl needs and I hope we get to see more of them in the future! 🤞🏼
The banter in this book was fire and had me literally laughing out loud. If you love RomComs this book is for you. It is the perfect vacation/beach read. Or if you are staying at home read it and imagine you are in Italy. 😂

Katie is the perfect example of needing to be in control. She has everything mapped out for her and fiance Jared from the wedding down to their romance schedule. Her wild Aunt Deb convinces her a bus tour of Italy is just what she needs!
Katie starts building the get Jared back plan. She is going to thirst trap him with photos and make him see she can be fun to make him come crawling back. Her tour ends up being on a run down tour bus with all seniors and having Matteo as the tour guide. Matteo the hottie with the body likes what he sees when he spots Katie, but his tour guests are a big no-no. No hooking up.
Katie hates Matteo and she has no problem letting him know. They manage to get thrown together left and right and Aunt Deb keeps telling Katie to forget about Jared because....well Matteo. No other explanation needed. Matteo and Katie end up calling a truce and he is going to help her with her photos to win Jared back. He has rules to follow after all, right? But aren't rules made to be broken?
Thank you so much to @happilybookedpr and @melisaryun for my copy to read and review. I laughed so hard reading this and I sided with Aunt Deb, life is short so have some fun! This was a page turner for me and nothing is more satisfying than a true romcom with unforgettable main characters.
I lost count of how many times I found myself laughing out loud while reading this new RomCom. At one scene in a dress shop, I actually had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. Take one hyper-organized, binder wielding perfectionist and one laid back, ‘fly by the seat of his pants’ tour guide and throw them together on a rickety bus for two weeks in Italy—then sit back and watch the snark and tension ignite.
I love the opposites attract trope, and Katie and Matteo’s relationship is the best version of it. The banter and spice had me wanting the MC to start whispering naughty things in Italian to me asap. I also appreciate the attention to detail used to describe sites in Italy that made you feel like you were actually on the tour with the MCs and a variety of hilarious side characters. If you want a raucous, quickly paced RomCon that takes you on a trip to Italy with a handsome Italian stallion as the MMC, I recommend adding this to your TBR today.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️
Thank you MéLisa Ryun and @happilybookedpr for the advanced copy! As always these are my own honest thoughts and opinions.
Brilliant rom-com with amazing characters and witty banter. A fun and entertaining read. It follows Katie, who loves planning and structure, but her life takes an unexpected turn when her fiancé calls off their engagement.
To escape the chaos, she joins a seniors trip to Italy. That’s when Matteo, the laid-back and charming tour guide, enters the picture, turning her carefully planned world upside down.
Katie was super relatable to me. Her overthinking and need for control felt so familiar. Watching her grow and embrace life as it comes was so satisfying. Matteo, on the other hand, was everything Katie wasn't, free-spirited and carefree. Their chemistry was electric, and the banter between them was hilarious. I couldn’t stop smiling at their interactions.
And let me just say, Aunt Deb was the absolute best. Such an icon. She’s bold, funny, and unapologetically herself, the kind of person you wish you had in your life to remind you to live fully. The senior tour group added so much humor, their antics had me laughing.
The Italian setting was gorgeous. The vivid descriptions of the sights, food, and culture made me want to pack my bags and go right away.
This book was the perfect escape. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series.
Just finished Italy Can Bite me by MeLisa Ryun it is a cute book full of banter and spice. It follows Matteo, a tour guide in Italy he started his own business with a not so trusty bus but with a heart to make every persons wish come true. He only has one main rule, no hooking up with women on his own tour. But when he meets an unsuspected young woman on his senior citizen tour trip he battles his own rules to keep things professional. Katie is an event planner who lives for organized plans from business to personal she has a plan for everything. But when she gets dumped by her fiancé, her crazy live for the moment aunt drags her to Italy. So what happens when a man who does everything on a whim meets a woman who lives by planning everything? You gotta read it. I love this book how it flows amazingly, nothing felt rushed or ended just because the author didn’t know how to end it. The story had some spice not in your face kind of spice but enough to fully believe this story could be real. The character development evolved in a great way. Definitely a must read.
