As Kalenna and her friends get settled into HQ and finish their first month, the realize that time is of the essence if they are to make any sort of change.
With the audacious suggestion of an escape, she wonders if they could get out of HQ, alive, and escape into the forest to find an elusive man who may hold all of the answers they need.
Will they get captured before they can leave, or will they find this man and find out more about Project Gemini and the whereabouts of her father?
This was an okay story, but it wasn’t as good as the first in the series.
The characters in this book started to annoy me a bit. They came across as pretty naïve, and pretty full of themselves too, and how they thought they could achieve what nobody else could achieve was a bit of a joke.
The storyline in this just went downhill. The kid’s plans were awful, the number of ways they could fail was so high, and their faith was unwavering but laughable. So often during this book I questioned whether it was believable that these kids could do this, and questioned what exactly they thought they were going to achieve. This whole thing came off like a bunch of kids playing dress-up, and it really wasn’t impressive.
There was some romance, and we did get some ‘defining the relationship’ moments. I can’t say I was all that impressed though.
The ending to this wasn’t much of an ending, and this book really did suffer from second book syndrome. I’m hoping the third one will be better. 6 out of 10.
So second book, not much better than the first. I like stories when they give background and there is enough detail so you can envision what you are reading, however I got extremely bored with the details in this story. I will finish this series because I don't quit in the middle of the series, but the comparison between Divergent and this series is too great for my liking.
As I said in my update about halfway through, this book is absolutely boring. There were no climactic moments. No real struggles for the group. Everything they planned happened perfectly, and with no obstacles even. I'm going to read the last one in hopes there's some redeeming quality to this series. The idea of it is good and could be a great series if written by Veronica Roth. (Oh, wait... It kinda already was...)
This is a nice quick read. I love that it's clean, and I feel like just around the corner something is going to pop up so the anticipation is what drew me in. It could do with more details and character depth, but o I love more than that, that it is clean! 💕 which is why I am giving it 4 stars
The characters are well developed, there was good background for their situation. The timeline seems to short for what they are trying to accomplish. A revolution takes more planning and resources. Guess the next book will tell us.
I admit it...I'm an idiot. I actually read this book to the end...and read the last one. Seriously. I was bored. I apologize. To myself. However, this book was terrible. The kids are naive at best...idiotic at worst. How they survive in the woods is beyond me. They are 100% lucky. And somehow a 16 year old kid figures out how to get out of the city? and elude the government that has been tracking people for YEARS? And no one notices??? Teachers, students, lab partners, the governer? No one? And they just happen to STUMBLE over ONE guy in the middle of upstate New York? Come on. Sorry, ridiculous. My one high point is that I like the idea of the bands. But this was not executed well.
I would never recommend this book to anyone. There was so much boring, uninteresting scenes between Kal and Gavin. For example, Gavin asked Kal if she liked him. She said obviously. He said Obviously? She said I wouldn't be holding your hand if I didn't like you. This book is like taking the plot from Divergent and giving it 1/100 of the goodness. Banded book one is good, but this is so boring.
from the time I bought this book I loved it. it is one of the best books I have ever read and would re-read this anytime. I can't wait for the third book to come out.
